For Fibromyalgia "Although this medicine is very expensive, I only need 400 mg every couple of days. I am able to purchase 3-5 800 mg pills per pharmacy visit. I only need to take it when in pain, and it works very quickly, so I'm not changing to another medicine. Flexeril makes me dizzy, dry, and doesn't work as well. Lyrica also makes me dizzy and nauseated. So metaxalone is my blessing. I'm very glad and surprised that I also don't have any side effects, as I am very sensitive to most medicines. Good luck, everyone, with metaxalone. It works like a charm for me."

For Muscle Spasm "I have always suffered from frequent headaches/migraines and was put on a preventative medication (Nortriptyline). This medication took care of regular headaches/migraines, but not tension-related ones. I carry a lot of tension in my shoulders and was originally prescribed Cyclobenzaprine for the tension along with (generic) Fioricet for the headaches themselves. This combo did not work, so my doctor replaced the Cyclobenzaprine with Metaxalone. This seems to have done the trick! When I feel the tension (without a headache), I take the Metaxalone with great results. If there is also a headache, the Metaxalone isn't enough, so I add a Fioricet. So far, this combo has allowed me to deal with headaches without having to go home and curl in a ball."

For Fibromyalgia "So far, no side effects on metaxalone, but I am not taking the full dose as I have to work in an office with patients and am nervous. But I actually feel improvement, it's amazing, and I don't feel sleepy or loaded. So far, so good. My hands feel relief for the first time in months. This is the best medicine I've tried for me so far, and I've been in pain for 11 years."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "I had to go to 800 mg of Metaxalone every 6 hours (directions from the inpatient pain specialist) while trying to recover from an emergency laminectomy L3 & L4, even though the regular directions say per 8 hours. It helped for a while, but now I am off of it temporarily so the spine specialists can figure out how much of the scoliosis is due to which spasms. The original injury caused total paralysis progressing over 6 weeks; I had no choice but to get the surgery. Long ago, I took Baclofen for the great pain and spasm relief. However, it caused major memory loss and other mental weirdness that caused people to think I was psychotic. Thank God for a wise doctor who knew about this rare side effect. If you take it, BE CAREFUL!"

For Muscle Spasm "Was prescribed this medicine after weeks of crippling muscle spasms due to CRPS in the lower left leg, ankle, and foot. Very effective at 800 mg 3x daily. My neighbors are relieved I no longer awaken screaming in pain from the spasms, as am I. Very expensive, but worth it."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "No bad side effects, but minimal pain relief in lower back. I did notice lowered tension in shoulders, and it felt a lot like Flexaril. Flexaril really causes some bad side effects for me. Skelaxin had no side effects that I noticed, just not right for my condition. I'll give it credit for lowering general muscular tension, though."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "I have muscle problems in my upper and lower back from carrying drums in drumline in high school. My back hurts constantly every day (but a very tolerable and mild pain). But those of you with back problems know that you have good days and bad days. On the bad days, I started taking 800 mg Skelaxin, and it did absolutely nothing for my pain. It provided the same amount of relief that 2 or 3 Aleve provides."

For Muscle Spasm "I've been taking 3-4 800 mg metaxalone tabs/day for about 5 years, and it takes about 1/2 hr to start feeling muscle pain relief, but it's not enough to take the pain away on its own. I need to take one or two 50 mg hydrocodone tabs with it to be effective."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "Treatment for Restless Legs Syndrome - I was recently diagnosed with RLS (a condition I thought to be psychosomatic until I got it - it's real!). I thought my wife and I were going to have to sleep in separate beds due to my tossing, turning, stretching, etc. to get relief. From the first dose of Skelaxin, the problem was eliminated. It's a wonder drug in my personal opinion."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "I had muscle spasms from sleeping on my stomach, and I couldn't function much at all. I told my doctor I needed something to relieve the pain, but something I could function on at work and while driving. She prescribed this, and I love it. The only thing I can tell from it whenever I take is relief of my spasms. No drowsiness or loopiness for me."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "I was prescribed this after a very minor fender bender. I thought I was fine after the accident. But as I sat in my work chair, I turned to the side to get a printout, and I just got stuck! Stuck by the pain. After the chair situation, the day just got worse. I went to an urgent care where I got the prescription for this along with physical therapy. The conjunction of the two might have led to the speedy recovery! After some spring cleaning today, I knew I would need some Skelaxin. I know, seems like normal wear and tear for a homeowner. But when you are as inactive as I am, even an extra activity can be excruciating! Being allergic to ibuprofen also doesn't help. One Skelaxin later, and my leg and arm pains went away. Thank goodness."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "I take this medication for pelvic floor dysfunction. It works well, but does leave me a bit foggy. I try to only take one pill a day, but I definitely notice I'm not as sharp for the entire day after taking it. But I couldn't get through physical therapy without it."

For Muscle Spasm "Dr. wants me to switch from Percocet to metaxalone for my herniated and stenosis of cervical nerves. It doesn't help with the pain in my neck or arms. It also makes me dizzy, headachy, and I get an upset stomach."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "Episodic incidences of serious back spasms and pain due to having herniated discs of L4 and L5. Skelaxin relieves the spasms so I get back to somewhat normal in as short a time as possible without feeling drugged out and tired. It works so far as to what it was prescribed for."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "I found Skelaxin made me drowsy, but it also made the muscle spasms go away. I take it at night because of that, but I realize that I may be a special case because 800 mg of Motrin makes me sleepy as well."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "I just had back surgery for a ruptured disc three weeks ago, and my surgeon prescribed me Skelaxin to help with the remnants of muscle spasms I was still having. I was expecting it to knock me out, but I was actually able to study for an exam, and I was virtually pain- and spasm-free."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "Day 2 on Skelaxin following a fall, which resulted in a rotator cuff injury and deep gashes on my arm. I feel not a bit of relief from this, combined with Mobil for the rotator cuff and Keflex for the open wounds. Better relief from 600/800 mg ibuprofen, but worried about stomach side effects of taking that much."

Metaxalone "Skelaxin has been the very best alternative for me when I look at all of the meds prescribed for me and have failed. I hope it does not go off the market because the help it provides people in TRUE pain far outweighs those who try to abuse it. Skelaxin has been a pain-saver for me! I have been taking 800 mg 4X a day for over 4 years and I love how it relieves my pain."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "I have fibromyalgia as well as muscle spasms related to lordosis and to an orthopedic problem, as well as dysmenorrhea. Skelaxin is my rescue medicine. If I get a calf spasm in the bad leg that a hot pack and some stretching won't subdue, half a Skelaxin will do the trick, no sedation, just good work. I'd give it a ten if it weren't so very expensive! When I have the very bad cramping related to my menstrual period, 100 mg of tramadol and 400 mg of Skelaxin will make me drowsy and unfocused, but it means that while I can still tell I'm cramping, it's like someone shouting inside a house while you stand outside, and I can get on with things as needed."

Metaxalone for Muscle Spasm "Skelaxin (metaxalone) for muscle spasms worked great when I first started taking it. But as with all my meds, my body has become immune to it. It still helps some, but not as much. Overall... I think it is a great medicine for muscle spasms. I have fibromyalgia, but I can't tell that it helps any with that."

For Muscle Spasm "I have had all my parathyroid and thyroid heads removed. Therefore, I have severe tetany seizures often. I was taking Flexeril, but due to insurance issues, had to switch. Went to Xanaflex, which did not work as well but still helped quite a lot, but I was tired a lot. Dr. switched me to Metaxalone, and it does not help at all. I have 800 mg, and each time I take it, the spasms might let up slightly but still continue. Not happy with this switch and will ask Dr. to put me on something else next week."

Metaxalone "I feel like the Skelaxin (Metaxalone) works sometimes. If I am in real pain, it does nothing other than make me flighty and unable to realize I am in pain. But it does not relieve the pain. I am not sure what I have yet because I am going through the testing processes. I would not ever want to be put on this medication again for severe pain because it does not work. I have been dizzy and have loss of memory quite often also."

For Fibromyalgia "I suffer from muscle and joint pain due to fibro and autoimmune. I took one on the first evening and two more 800 mg the next day (schedule was 800 mg x3). I got almost every side effect there was, and a couple days later, I am still not well. Irritability, anxiety, altered mood, complete loss of appetite, and gastritis that nothing is fixing much at all so far. I have been on other meds, but this is in my top 5 worst! Couldn't pay me to take this again!"

For Fibromyalgia "Metaxalone just amazed me. Not only does it relieve muscle tension, it has helped with all my pain including fibro, bulging discs, facet joint arthritis, carpal tunnel, and the excruciating pain of De Quervain's tenosynovitis. Unlike other meds, it doesn't sedate me, and I've had no side effects except a bit of irritability the first couple of days. I only hope it continues to work as effectively for years to come. The BEST thing I've taken, and I've tried A LOT of things!"
