"I've been prescribed this medication for years for OA, and it really doesn't do a whole lot for me... but it does do some, since I stopped taking it for a while and realized it was about 30% effective."

"My doc prescribed naproxen for my arthritic knees and hip, which I found almost ineffective. I was looking for a cheaper alternative, and she let me try meloxicam. Wow! I don't have knee pain anymore, and the hip pain is 80% better, and at a much, much lower cost to me. Some people do better on one or the other, so if one is not working for you, ask your doc to try the other."

"I took one pill in the afternoon, and woke up the next morning with my whole face swollen. My doctor told me to take Benadryl, which I did for 24 hours. It's been 4 days, and the swelling is almost gone. I've been feeling funky all week. I don't recommend anyone take this. Ever."

"Not any observed difference in benefit between meloxicam and Celebrex, which I have taken for years. What I have noticed is massive hair loss. This happened to me when I was on Vioxx, another COX-2 inhibitor (before they took it off the market). Will be going back on Celebrex."

"Can now live a normal life since I began taking it. I have osteoarthritis in my hands, feet, knees, and back. The meloxicam has made it possible for me to move without pain and stiffness. Before taking it, I had such problems moving at all. I am 46 and moved about as if I was 200 years old. Now, I move about like I did when I was 35. I am very glad my doctor prescribed it for me."

"Years ago, I had terrible low back pain. MD suggested Mobic, which worked great for several years. About 4-5 years ago, I developed atrial fibrillation. My cardiologist told me to definitely get off the Mobic because a side effect is bleeding, so this would worsen the bleeding because one side effect of Xarelto (a blood thinner) is to thin my blood to avoid strokes. I just read on another site that Mobic can cause AFib. There is no way to know if the Mobic caused the AFib or if it developed independently. I suspect the Mobic brought on the AFib, although I have no proof of that. I have been in excellent health. The 1-10 rating scale used above should not be used because, in my case, the Mobic was very helpful but probably caused major side effects."

Meloxicam "I was started on meloxicam 5 weeks ago for bone-on-bone osteoarthritis in both knees. NSAIDs and topicals and PT did not help. Now I can walk in the grocery store with much less pain and sleep without my knee pain waking me up. Well tolerated so far. I am hoping this will help delay a knee replacement. I am taking 15 mg per day."

"I have been taking meloxicam since I had total knee replacement 6 yrs ago - works great for stiffness and pain. Originally, the doctor wanted me to take it for 6 months or so after surgery, but it helped so much with arthritis in hands, feet, shoulders, etc. He advised to keep taking it. Usually, I have a pretty sensitive stomach, but no bothers with meloxicam."

"I have tried a dozen different NSAIDs over the years and meloxicam, by far, is the best. Ibuprofen? Nothing. Naproxen? For a few hours on max dose. Meloxicam on a low dose? I'm good to play basketball for 2-3 days. I take it 2-3 times/week and life is much more enjoyable."

"I have been suffering with osteoarthritis in both knees and hips, sleepless nights, and anxiety when I have to move (especially after sitting a length of time). Meloxicam improved my pain and mobility in just a couple of days. I take 15 mg every day, and I am extremely thankful for this medicine!"

"I'm 7 months post-op from a total knee replacement at the age of 53. I was taking Celebrex 2 years prior to my knee surgery. My doctor recently asked me to try the Mobic/Meloxicam. As the Celebrex just seemed to not be effective enough to manage the pain, swelling, and inflammation. I've been taking the meloxicam for 3 weeks now, and just wow. I've seen a tremendous difference with my knee in every aspect. For the first time in 7 months, I don't have to sleep with a pillow between my knees to help relieve the pain I have been experiencing still with the knee. The only side effect I've noticed is a disruption of my sleeping, which I take melatonin and solved that problem. Is it working for me? Absolutely a miracle drug!"

"My husband's knee replacement failed 4 years ago. He has been taking meloxicam ever since both knee replacements in 2015. He had rectal bleeding this summer, and we went through a cancer scare, but after the colonoscopy, the doctor told him to try only taking the meloxicam every other day, 1/2 a pill at the most. Now his osteoarthritis is showing him how bad off he really is. Last night, he admitted to me that he had bleeding from the rectum yesterday. His doctor told him no one has died from osteoarthritis, but they have from internal bleeding. He also gained about 25 pounds since his knee replacements. That is when he started meloxicam. I didn’t know weight gain is a side effect of this pill. He will lose his part-time, well-paying job that he loves, our home, because he won’t be able to do yard work and will be in so much pain. I am afraid he won’t really stop taking it. If you love your wife or husband - don’t ever start this pill."

Meloxicam "First one that I have found working for the pain and the inflammation in my knees, elbows, shoulders, etc. I am 36, and I was tested about three weeks ago, but before I was tested, I was already taking Mobic, and it worked better than all the other medicines that I was taking for my arthritis. When my test came back, it showed that I was full-blown with arthritis and borderline rheumatoid arthritis."

"I started taking this pill after 3 1/2 months of total misery being in horrific pain. I saw a new doctor, and he told me to try it. I had no confidence in that pill at all. 2 days later, I had absolutely no pain. What a feeling to not feel pain anymore! Worked for me, I'm happy to say."

"I took it for several days, expecting pain relief, but it didn't do anything. My doctor told me I have osteoarthritis. My pain is so bad that I literally cannot do anything except lying down on my belly. I stopped taking meloxicam because it was useless for my pain and it makes my stomach upset. I did better with Tylenol and homeopathic pills."

"I started taking Meloxicam about 7 years ago for knee issues and herniated discs in my back, 15 mg per day. I started gaining weight pretty steadily despite zero diet or exercise changes. Since starting Meloxicam, I have gained about 55 lbs on my 5'4 frame. I assumed I must be eating more than I realized, or maybe it was age. But this week my RX ran out, and I forgot to fill it for a couple of days. I have lost 5 lbs in 4 days without trying. Still, my Dr. insists that it isn't related to Meloxicam. I know that it is, but they won't tell you this! I'm going to try to go off of it. At this point, I can't help but wonder if the Meloxicam is only offsetting the pain I'm having from gaining so much weight!"

"Prescribed for arthritic knee. Taking 7.5 mg daily, and my knee pain has gone. I also have diabetic nephropathy, and my feet burn and tingle all the time. It was almost impossible to fall asleep, I stayed up late until I just couldn't stay up any longer. It's like a miracle happened. My foot pain has almost disappeared. My feet feel so much better. The tingling and burning have diminished from a 10 to a 1. Thank you, I can't say enough."

"I have been taking meloxicam for several months, with very little relief from my right shoulder osteoarthritis. It did very little for my left shoulder issues either. My flare-ups are quite severe. My orthopedic surgeon told me I will eventually have to have a shoulder replacement."

"Put me through more pain than I was in. Sweating, my stomach got tore up, heartburn, and I ate a full meal, feel nauseated, bloated. I didn't realize it, but this is the second time I've been prescribed this drug by a different doctor, and I won't forget next time. The side effects from this drug are insane, and I can't believe they feed this crap to people. They use this stuff on dogs, why are they using it on people? They should stop giving this to animals, in my opinion, if it causes this much pain."

Meloxicam "I have been taking Mobic for a week, and I really can't feel the difference, but I hope it works. Once this week, I felt really good, but other than that, I still feel the same. I do feel bloated a lot though."

"My insurance company would not provide me with two Celebrex a day. After consulting my pharmacist, I tried the meloxicam (15 mg), and it works better than Celebrex for me - inflammation is my major problem, and I'm pleased. Also, meloxicam is much cheaper. IMPORTANT - Take with meals to avoid stomach problems."

"I call Meloxicam my magic pill. I have moderate hip arthritis from years of wear and tear on my hip joint. Trying to hold off on THR. If I take a meloxicam before bed, I wake up with no pain. I don't take it all the time because of the long-term use side effects. Only take when the inflammation is intense. It is cheaper than a cortisone injection. 7.5 mg does the trick."

"Was experiencing increased pain from arthritis and also had tendonitis. Trigger finger as well. Pain started waking me at night, so I said enough! Dr. started me on 15 mg, and within 24 hrs, I felt tremendous relief, inflammation in fingers gone, just an overall great experience so far. Feel it has helped my mood just because I am not achy and in pain. Been taking just a couple of weeks, so we'll see how it holds up over time. For now, though, I feel great!"

"Meloxicam is wonderful. Relieves pain. Decided to quit taking meloxicam because I am diabetic. I have been taking meloxicam for several years. Getting older and do not want to take so many medicines. Osteoarthritis pain back within ten days. Terrible pain. But it is time to scale back on medications."

"I have osteoarthritis, which was manageable with Aleve on bad days. Then I developed fibromyalgia, and the pain became excruciating! Tried naproxen, and it didn't touch the pain. Then my doctor put me on meloxicam 15 mg, and the pain dropped in two days! It is not gone, because of the fibro, but I have gone from off the pain scale back onto it (7-8 on most days, 3-4 on the rare good day). I am only staying on it for 2 months (am also on other meds for my fibro). Supposedly, if you can get your pain down to a 5 or below while on it, you won't react when stopping. I'm also trying other things (low-impact exercise, alternative therapies, etc.) to help myself. I did read up on this before taking it and noted all the interactions to be aware."
