"I have arthritis in my right knee. I am currently taking allopurinol and have been for 17 years due to gout in my left big toe. On the day in question, I took my allopurinol pill in the morning as I have since 2002. In the evening of the same day, at dinner time, I took one tablet of meloxicam 7.5 mg with dinner. To help with the inflammation in my right knee. Within two hours, my left big toe was causing me terrible pain and looked like a red bulb on a Christmas tree. I am writing this report 24 hours later, and my left big toe still hurts like someone stomped on it. I took another pill of allopurinol last night and one this morning, but the pain persists. My advice to you: do NOT take this medicine if you have gout. It will not cure your pain, but will cause you tremendous agony. I only took one dose. Never again!"

"I first had polymyalgia, took prednisone for a year, will not take it again! I found a new Dr. Put me on meloxicam for osteoarthritis and it works so well. I highly recommend, and I am not much into putting these meds in my body, but so far so good!!"

"I was on this drug for years. Gained about 40 lbs, but it did help the pain in my hands. However, recently I have been bruising so bad it looks like I've been abused. The bruising definitely got worse over time. I had a scratch on my arm recently that ended up in a 6' x 1' bruise. I have other worse bruises. I've stopped taking meloxicam now."

"I’ve been taking 15 mg of Meloxicam since 07/11/2018 for my arthritis. I had been taking Aleve and Ibuprofen and noticed blood in my stools. I asked the doctor if I could be put on something different, and this is what she prescribed. I’m doing things today that I had hurt too much to do for about three years now. It may not be the right medication for everyone, but it’s definitely right for me."

"I went to the doctor with great pain in my knee from broken cartilage and arthritis. Have been taking ibuprofen around three times a day, and it would help some, but just one of these each day after breakfast, and I am great. I am 65 years of age, a female, and played golf yesterday with no pain. So far, I am having no side effects but have only been on the med for three days."

"Was on Celebrex 200 2x a day for years. Pain was too much when the dose reduced. Was changed to Meloxicam 15 1x a day and works just as good. For the reviewer with plantar fasciitis, had it for months. What works is a quality pair of compression foot sleeves. Foot pain was gone after wearing them for 3-4 days. Wear them all day, every day. (FS6 brand)."

"I was prescribed Meloxicam for my hand pain from a hand specialist with a large and reputable bone and joint group. If he had read what my current prescriptions were, he never would have prescribed this drug to me. Before taking any of it, I did my research thoroughly and found out it is indeed a very dangerous drug, especially for people over 65 (me!), with high blood pressure, kidney issues, allergies, indigestion, etc. I would advise everyone to research before taking this drug."

"I was told by my previous doctor that I need a knee replacement. I'm only 50. My new specialist said, let put it off as long as possible with a treatment plan which included Movalis and low-impact fitness training. I was shocked at the relief it has given me within days. As he said, it's not a cure, but oh, what a relief."

"I had two total knee replacements. One a year ago and the other almost 2 years ago. I got to a certain point of recovery and never got any better. I was sore every day, and the swelling would not leave completely. Three days on meloxicam, (recommended by a friend who also had TKR), and I am significantly reduced pain not only in my knees but my back. Makes my stomach feel a bit nauseous at times, but I'll take that to be able to walk easier with less pain!!!"

"I play pickleball 4 to 5 times a week. A few months ago, I thought I'd torn a muscle in my shoulder, but an X-ray showed inflammation from arthritis. The orthopedic surgeon prescribed 15 mg of meloxicam. Within a week, the pain was 80 percent gone, and after a month, my shoulder felt as good as new. I asked the doctor if I could continue to take it as a preventative since I am 72 years old and have aches and pains in other joints caused by arthritis. She prescribed it and said I could go on and off it if I noticed any side effects. The only thing I have a little concern about is it slightly raises my blood pressure. The bottom number is rarely over 70, but the top number gets in the 140s. When that happens, I go off of the meloxicam for a couple of weeks 'til the top number is back in the 120s, then I start it again. When I'm not taking it, I can definitely tell a difference in my joints, especially my knees. I think it's a miracle drug."

Meloxicam "I have had awful foot pain for over 10 years and have tried many medicines. My doctor suggested Mobic, and it did wonders for my pain. I have been on it for 5 days now and cannot believe the difference it has made. I can now walk without shuffling around because of pain. Side effects are mild for now. I have a light headache from time to time and ear pressure. Hope that improves. I take 7.5 twice a day since 15 seemed to make side effects worse. A nice surprise every time I get up to walk and feel little or no pain."

"48 yr old healthy female, w/ osteoarthritis in 3 places in my back. LOTS of pain, nothing really helping. Decided to give Meloxicam a try, and within a few days, a huge difference in the pain, only felt stiff in the mornings. However, week 2 of taking it, and was in bed last night about to fall asleep when I became incredibly dizzy, felt like the bed was spinning and I felt pretty confused as well. I haven't been drunk in years, but that's the only thing I can compare the feeling to-been really drunk and going to bed. It was terrible and lasted probably 15 mins. Each time I closed my eyes, the bed was spinning and I became super nauseous, and when my eyes were open, everything was spinning as well. Was really scary! Done w/ Meloxicam."

"I used to work at a job where it was required to lift heavy objects at a quick pace for many hours non-stop in warm and cold climates. After several years of doing this, I began to have severe stiffness and pain, slowness in walking, moving, bending, and lifting. Even getting up from a seated position was a feat in itself! I began to think my life was over to ever move normally again! I went to my doctor, and he diagnosed me with osteoarthritis. I was given several brand name medications as treatment - to no avail. Finally, I was prescribed meloxicam 15 mg, and it gave me my life back! I can walk, bend, lift, and move without agony and stiffness! I have been on it for 1 year and have no problems at all. I take 1 pill every day."

"I started on this medication while traveling in Latin America, where it is widely prescribed for arthritis and tendonitis. I'm an active 52-year-old female and otherwise in good health. I have moderate to severe joint pain in my hips and knees. I have been on Meloxicam for over a year now with no side effects and very good relief. I take it first thing in the morning to relieve my morning pain and stiffness. I have noticed that some people respond well to Aleve but not at all to Advil. I am of that group, and so Meloxicam works well for me, better than Aleve. Many who respond well to Advil but not to Aleve seem to have adverse reactions to Meloxicam. Just mentioning this correlation because it seems to be a good indicator of effectiveness."

"I am having carpal tunnel release surgery on Tuesday and have been off my Mobic for about 6 days now. I have pain in areas I had no idea hurt: left knee, neck, both wrists, all fingers, right elbow, and right shoulder. It was first prescribed for left knee pain only. I can't wait to get this surgery done and get back on it. I am in so much pain."

"Last week, I began a daily dose of 7.5 mg for lower back/sacroiliac arthritis pain. I was not noticing any help with the pain. On the third day, midday, about an hour after taking the pill with a large protein smoothie and water, I was overcome by extreme dizziness. I quickly ate some nuts and jello and drank lots of water. I grabbed my thermometer and made it to the couch and lay down just in time. My temp was below 96. My pulse (finger to wrist checked) was below 54. I was very cold. I lay there for over two hours, trying to breathe calmly, waiting for the dizziness to pass. It finally did. I will never take meloxicam again! I have since learned that this drug contains sulfa, and I am allergic to sulfa antibiotics and apparently also to any med with sulfa in it. That may explain my bad adverse reaction, and doctors should know not to prescribe this med to anyone with a sulfa allergy of any kind."

Meloxicam "It made me gain weight, about 40 lbs, and cause acne. Other than that, it worked very well for my osteoarthritis in my neck. I have a fusion and have not been the same since. This medicine helped me with my pain. I got my life back. I still can't do everything, but my pain is so much better!"

"My right hip has been incredibly painful for the last couple of years. I've had two major procedures where a cortisone was injected into my hip. This was done in a hospital setting. Recently, my hip started to act up again. My doctor, as in the past, recommended a replacement. I asked him if there was any other option. He then suggested meloxicam. He wasn't fond of it because of possible side effects. The next morning, I took my first tablet (15 mg). In less than 2 hours, the pain was completely gone. It was a miracle!"

"After 10 weeks of one daily 7.5 mg meloxicam, I stopped taking it. Four weeks later, I landed in the hospital with kidney failure. Expensive scans, tests, etc. ruled out cancer, etc. Nephritis left me with only 8% kidney function, which hopefully will get better. I am under nephrologist care. Definitely caused by meloxicam. I take no medication whatsoever, not even vitamins. I am a healthy 80-year-old woman. Meloxicam did nothing for my pain due to a herniated disc and sciatica. One or two opioid pills a day would have given me good sleep and healing, but I spent two months sleepless with pain."

"I have arthritis in my left leg due to an injury. I am on Neurontin for the nerve pain and was originally prescribed piroxicam for the associated arthritis pain. It made me terribly ill, couldn't keep anything down, and we switched to meloxicam. The side effects vanished, and the pain relief was wonderful. This medication helps get me through my days."

"I have had severe osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia pain for the past 5 years. I have been receiving steroid and Synvisc shots for several years. I had been taking up to 1600 mg of ibuprofen a day, even Vicodin did not help my pain. My new doctor gave me a trial sample of meloxicam 7.5 mg. After taking 1 dose, my pain and mobility improved dramatically. I have not been able to walk up the stairs without using both handrails in years. I cannot believe the results. It does bother my stomach a bit, but I take Protonix and take meloxicam only after eating. This medication has changed my life!"

"Have been on this for a couple of years, was working great for pain but not anymore. And I've gained 65 lbs in the last 2 years (didn't know meds could cause, thought it was mobility issues) but recently experiencing chest pains, breathing problems, pain is worse... have to ask the doctor for something else because this is really scary."

"Got great relief after about 5 days. Don't know how I would have survived back spasms without it. To protect your gut from ulcers, etc., you need to ask your doctor to also prescribe a drug called Nexium and take that in the morning and take the Mobic in the evening with food. Shame it is not good to take this drug long term, though."
