For Bowel Preparation "I was so so so terrified. I was just like you right now, reading review after review. I was so scared I would feel super sick, anxious, shaky, and lethargic going through this. I already deal with nausea on a daily basis and I thought taking this laxative would make my life worse. I was having a panic attack all day before I took prep. Thankfully I called a friend, they calmed me down. I took the prep like a champ and had NO NAUSEA, NO SICKNESS, NO ANXIETY. It went so much smoother than I thought. So please don’t worry. I was sitting where you are, worrying myself to absolute death. It will be okay!"

For Bowel Preparation "So I wanted to write this all out in hopes that it might help someone who was in the same boat as me facing the colonoscopy prep: filled with pure anxiety and fear! In the past, I tried only the GoLYTELY, enemas, or Dulcolax—all of which made me extremely sick. Based on my previous colonoscopy experiences, I was so incredibly frightened that I would be in pain, writhing on the ground, nauseous, and weak, feeling like I was going to throw up for hours on end. All those fun things. I think I most definitely had PTSD from my past. I scoured the internet recently looking for any tips from people, and I gathered all of them into notes for me to follow the day of prep. I AM SO GLAD I DID. I can now say that I am no longer fearful of the prep, and believe me, that’s very hard to believe I’m saying that. Here’s my experience. I have no idea if it will work with every single person reading this, but I hope that it will provide some comfort. My doctor decided to give me SUPREP this time because there is less quantity that needs to be consumed. The few days leading up to the prep, I ate a somewhat low-fiber diet. On the day of the prep, I had a light breakfast—eggs and white toast and tea. Then throughout the day, I had chicken broth and Jello—just to keep my food intake up so I wouldn’t feel like I had such an empty stomach. Then an hour and a half before the first dose of the SUPREP, I took prescribed medications Zofran to prevent nausea and Ativan to help with anxiety. Then at the scheduled time, I drank the first dose of the SUPREP. I made sure it was chilled in the fridge (which it has to be cold), and I had a straw to sip it, which helps. Now here’s where the important part came in. This stuff does not TASTE GOOD. I am not going to sugarcoat the way it tastes. However, I equipped myself with lemon slices and Gatorade, and every time I took 3 sips of the prep, I quickly put a lemon slice in my mouth or took a sip of Gatorade and swished it around my mouth. This helped with getting the taste out of the mouth. I have no idea what I would have done without those lemon slices. This actually was the most important tip of all. Then I drank my water and applied Desitin on my bum. This was the second important tip. This prevents the pain and soreness from all the wiping and BMs. In the past using enemas or Dulcolax, the BMs hurt so bad and were so explosive, but these were not—they were warm and fairly gentle coming out most of the time. I had good BMs for quite a few hours and then was even able to watch a few movies on my computer! Then I slept for a few hours and did the exact same routine again with the second dose, not forgetting to take the nausea and anxiety medication before drinking. This was a completely different experience than last time, and I am so thankful I found these tips. I hope this helps someone out."

For Bowel Preparation "Simply put: it tastes awful. I struggled through the first round and then dreaded taking the second round at 5 am the next morning. It tastes like liquid cough medicine, so imagine drinking 16 fl oz of that and you'll have a good idea of what it's like. My best advice: drink it quickly and plug your nose the entire time. Literally don't let go of your nose until you're completely finished. I have to say, once I got all the fluids down, it only took a few minutes for it to begin working. So as disgusting as it is, it actually does exactly what it's supposed to do. Only side effect for me was a slight nauseous feeling, probably due to the amount of liquid in my stomach all at once and the horrendous memory of the taste. Good luck!"

For Bowel Preparation "This Suprep is the most over-the-top sweet, nasty-tasting thing you will ever drink!! I called the company and asked if it was necessary for it to work for it to be this gaggingly sweet. I was told that they make it sweet for it to be tolerable to drink. REALLY?! Have they ever tasted this stuff?!! Just the smell of it makes me gag, literally! Hold your nose, suck on a lemon to kill the taste after each gulp. Brush your tongue after you're done, or the aftertaste will linger for hours. I HATE this stuff!!!"

For Bowel Preparation "Ok, so after reading all the horror stories today, I was a mess before taking the first dose. Obviously, not the best tasting thing, but definitely not the worst. Worst aspect was how full you feel after the 16 ounces of product than 32 of water. 15 mins or so later, and I was already in the bathroom. Not unpleasant at all, in fact, better than my normal experience (hence why I am getting scoped). No nausea, cramps, chills, nothings. Don’t let the bad reviews scare you!"

For Bowel Preparation "I have been reading all those reviews for weeks. Last night, I couldn’t sleep because I was nervous to start it today. At 6 pm, I got everything ready. I mixed my prep with Crystal Lite lemonade flavor. I was done with it within 2 minutes. It was NOT bad at all. I also was very thirsty afterwards, so drinking an additional 2x 16 oz of water was not bad either. Prep started to work within 10-15 minutes. At 7 pm, there was no color in stool. I understand that everybody is different. I have very bad gag reflex, and I was expecting to start throwing up. I did not even feel nauseated. Good luck to me tomorrow and everybody else."

For Bowel Preparation "Absolute worst of all time. I wish I found these reviews before I took this Suprep Bowel Prep Kit stuff. It is awful. I told my husband I would take childbirth over ever having to drink this nasty stuff again. Disgusting, nasty, horrific taste. Chasing it doesn’t help, it’s a thick syrup consistency, even when diluted. By the 2nd dose, I puked half of it up - it made me gag uncontrollably. I cannot express enough how absolutely horrific this product is. Zero stars if I could - I hope this helps someone. I will never, ever, ever take this again."

For Bowel Preparation "I had no issues with the Suprep. I put it in the fridge the night before, then mixed it with cold water when I was ready to start. My 1st dose was at 6 pm. I used a straw, had Sprite and bottled water on hand. I alternated a drink of Suprep with Sprite and/or water. I got it down in 15 min, taking my time was the trick for me. It does taste like a salty fruit drink and it's clear. I had completed 1 of my waters by the time I got it down, so I had no issues getting the 2nd water down. It started working in 20 min. I stayed in the bathroom for an hour and 15 min, then that was it for the 1st round. I went to bed and woke at 4 am for my 2nd round and took it the exact same way. This time it started acting a little sooner and I stayed in the bathroom for 45 min. I did get up about 4-5 more times before 6:30 am. I experienced no stomach cramping. I have a very queasy stomach and never once felt nauseous."

For Bowel Preparation "After reading a lot of comments here about how terrible this stuff tastes and how bad the experience was, I expected it to be pretty bad. It wasn't. The taste was like a mildly flavored but extra, extra salty Gatorade. I had no problem on the first or the second day drinking the 16 oz. cup of medication plus water. I had no noteworthy nausea, chills, cramps, or other discomfort. I did feel very full/bloated after drinking such large volumes of fluid, but the intended purging started within a half-hour or so, and the feeling of significant fullness dissipated after a few trips to the bathroom. Expelling the fluid was not painful or difficult (definitely not difficult). I never felt like I wasn't going to be able to get there in time. I took the first dose as directed at 7 PM and the second at 4 AM. I am male, 75 years old, and weigh about 210 lbs. All in all, the whole thing was much less horrible than I would have expected based on many of the comments here."

For Bowel Preparation "Worked exactly as it said it would and what my GI said would happen. Didn’t mind the taste (just held my breath since 90% of taste is air going over taste buds). Worked after 45 minutes, and most of the action was on the first dose, which I took at 4:45 pm. 2nd dose was at 2:45 am, and I was able to get some sleep in between bouts. Ran yellow liquid at the end (which is normal since bile is the only thing left at that point in you). Was a very clean prep according to my GI. No nausea at all. And I returned to normal the next day after I got more in me. No bloating or discomfort like I had with PEG. CRC (colorectal cancer) is the most preventable yet least prevented form of cancer. No reason to not get screened if you are eligible. You miss 100% of everything you don’t look for."

For Bowel Preparation "To those obsessively looking through reviews before prepping like I was, don't worry! I read some bad reviews and was terrified, but the whole experience was easier than I thought. The Suprep does not taste good, but it's not as bad as I expected. Per my doctor's advice, I refrigerated the Suprep and mixed it with cold water to help the taste. It tasted somewhat like a sweet cough syrup, but more bitter, with a grape aftertaste. Getting it cold takes away the saltiness. Like other reviewers have said, get a lemon to bite down on after each drink, it gets the taste out of your mouth instantly! The 'emptying' started about 20 min after drinking, I didn't have any nausea or cramping at all."

For Bowel Preparation "After reading the scary reviews, I wanted to come back here after my procedure and reassure people that Suprep is very doable and works well. Maybe it's not the best-tasting drink in the world, but not terrible either. I did chill it and add some lemonade Crystal Light, but I was able to drink it without difficulty. I was expecting it to be the worst thing ever based on previous reviews! I had no nausea, and it began working about an hour after drinking. Round 2 for me was in the middle of the night, so of course, it was a bit harder (because I was so tired), but again, very tolerable. Good news was that my colon was cleaned out well! My best advice is try not to worry and overthink it, and you will be fine."

For Bowel Preparation "I had been dreading this test literally for years, since I hate drinking bad-tasting things. I can’t even chug a beer. But I survived Suprep. It actually didn’t taste as bad as I feared. Tips that worked for me: - chill it. - put yourself in a nice frame of mind. Hug your kids, put on calming music, whatever puts you in your happy place. - remind yourself constantly that this does not suck a millionth as much as colon cancer. - drink as much as you can as fast as you can. A straw might help, for me, I found drinking and sucking it in hard helped the fluid flow around my tongue and I tasted it less. - then drink some water or clear liquid immediately. - if you’re worried about nausea, tell your doctor. - have some cold non-diet ginger ale on hand and use it as an anti-nausea drug. - don’t wait too long to take the next long drink and don’t obsess. - have Preparation H wipes and Vaseline ready for after. You can do this!"

For Bowel Preparation "After the worst experience of my life, I feel the need to express my opinion. I’m sitting here without getting my colonoscopy this morning. I’ve had two over the years, so I knew what to expect. Within fifteen minutes, I was power puking the stuff up. The next few minutes, it was both ends. After shaking and sweating, it eased, so I tried again in four hours, and it was the same results. Still sick today. Now I have to wait two weeks to do the colonoscopy with other medications. I would not recommend."

For Bowel Preparation "This stuff is definitely a lot better than having to drink a gallon jug of liquid. That's what my doctor first prescribed me, and I said 'nope, have bad memories of that stuff.' Luckily, it was changed to Suprep. I was a little late taking my first dose, which didn't end up being till 9 pm. I took the second dose at 3 am. The first dose wasn't bad, horrible taste even with lemonade mix, but it was tolerable with a chaser of water. I was prescribed Zofran just in case of nausea from this, so that helped a lot. I was on the toilet within 20 minutes, and I was pretty much shooting out clearer liquids an hour later. I made sure to be on a low-fiber diet for a couple of days before the clear liquid day, plus I'm on Linzess, and that gives me daily diarrhea. The second dose was hell, and I only drank a little over half of it. It still did the job just fine, looked like yellow pee coming out my butt from the start."

For Bowel Preparation "I am a newbie at this stuff, and after reading the reviews, I was scared to death! Luckily, I didn't experience the nausea most folks mentioned in their reviews. I was able to mix it with water and chug it down, followed by the other 32 oz of water, back to back. Not as bad as I thought, it tasted like watered-down, grape-flavored drink, with lots of salt. Not too bad, I thought to myself! About 20 minutes later, all hell broke loose! I trotted to the bathroom, and you better be close by as well! Around 3 hours of trips to the toilet, the first batch did its job, quite effectively, might I add... like a water jet for your bowels! Never, and I mean never ever, trust a fart, sneeze, or cough! You will be in very dangerous territory!"

For Bowel Preparation "So, after staying up all night reading all these reviews, I was absolutely DREADING drinking this stuff. Honestly, it tasted bad but not to the point where you can’t handle it. I chased each sip with water that was mixed with Crystal Light lemonade. I didn’t experience any cramping or anything like that. As for the nausea, I took a Zofran an hour before each dose, so I didn’t really experience any. I went to the bathroom quite frequently, finally got to bed at about midnight and slept through until 7 am, then was up using the bathroom again. I will say this - wipe with Preparation H wipes each time you use the restroom and put Vaseline or Preparation H cream down there each time you use the restroom. Drinking the Suprep through a straw really helped out. Today is the day of the procedure, never done anything like this before, so quite nervous! Hope this helps somebody!"

For Bowel Preparation "This stuff will clean you out like an auger. It is incredibly effective and does exactly what it is designed to do. When the directions are properly followed in the manner prescribed, it provides an outstanding cleanse of the digestive system. Also, it tastes like bile mixed with poison berries. If hatred has a flavor, this is it. Did I dread being gassed into unconsciousness, having a robot make five incisions in me and drag out a section of my gut? Not as much as I dreaded taking the second dose of this stuff. Is it the Underworld's Kool-Aid? No doubt. Will you question yourself? Most certainly. But does it work? Absolutely."

For Bowel Preparation "First colonoscopy ever. This prep worked great. Yes, a bit salty, but just gulp it down and chase it with the water. No cramping, nausea, or headache. Started working in about 40 minutes. Stay close to the bathroom and get to the toilet at the hint of movement. Took about 4 hours to complete the first round. Did the second round the morning of my procedure, took it at 5 am for an 11:00 procedure. Second round was a breeze. Cleared out by 8:30 am and the doctor reported fully cleared. This prep is worth the money, and I will definitely use it again. Have no fear, folks?"

For Bowel Preparation "Not the best tasting stuff, but manageable. Held my breath and took it all at once. Started working on me in another 40 minutes. Did what it’s supposed to do. Expect a very raw anus, though. Second dose was a little rough. Barely gagged it down. Did not seem to be as “explosive” as the first dose. Only side effects for me are nausea and a mild headache."

For Bowel Preparation "OMG! Although 60, I avoided a colonoscopy due to the horror stories, but I knew I needed one, so here goes. I ate a light breakfast and some soup for dinner. I started the prep two hours later. Two hours afterwards, I literally had to go to the bathroom every five minutes for two hours. Then it was time for the second one. I was up for another 4 hours at the second track meet. I don't know what other preps are like, but this was god-awful ugly. My colonoscopy went well, and my doctor said that I did a fabulous job cleaning out my colon. A day later, my stomach is still nauseous."

For Bowel Preparation "You guys. It’s totally not that bad at all. I read all these comments before starting my bowel prep and was nervous because of how extreme some people make it to be. It’s not. Yeah, there’s a mediciney aftertaste, but pair it with yellow Gatorade and it’s not bad. Yes, it’s drinkable. It does not taste like liquid death. I didn’t even use a straw, just chugged it down in under 3 minutes both times. This was also my first time doing any sort of laxative. It’s just like water pouring through you. I had zero stomach cramping and it didn’t burn. Just calmly emptying out. I had my gallon of water sitting next to me and I chilled in the bathroom for about an hour each time, playing games on my phone. Then it was over and I went on about my evening. The morning dose made me feel slightly nauseous just because it was of how long it’s been since I haven’t eaten, but it went away quickly when I emptied out. It is not the worst thing that will happen to you all week, okay? Good luck y’all!"

For Bowel Preparation "Don’t get anxiety over the whole colonoscopy and prep! I was getting a lot of anxiety after reading a lot of these posts. My experience with the Suprep wasn’t bad at all, as a matter of fact, it tasted like a margarita after following some of the suggestions in regards to adding Crystal Light. All diarrhea was non-violent, no cramps, no chills (warmed-up water bottles), no nausea, and no sweating or headaches. Prepped at 5:00, began the diarrhea at 5:50 and for the most part completed by 7:30-8:00ish. Started the 2nd prep at 9:00 and completed the water bottles by 9:30, began diarrhea at 10:00, and was completed by 12:00-12:30 and went to bed. Had colonoscopy and upper scope done at 6:30 am and next I knew I was waking up at 7:30 am in the recovery room passing gas, LOL. I just wanted to let people know that you should probably average out the comments on here so that you don’t drive yourself and your family nuts with your anxiety."
