For Bowel Preparation "Not as bad as I was expecting. The taste is like salty cough syrup, but better than Nyquil. The volume to drink wasn't insurmountable. And the effect wasn't violent. Just know that anything you drink after ingesting the dose will be passed soon afterwards for about the next 4 hours. Based on all the reviews of other methods, this seems to be the mildest."

For Bowel Preparation "I read all the previous reviews before doing the bowel prep and borrowed all the ideas I thought would work for me. Two days before my procedure, I kept my diet pretty light, with limited meat. The day before was all clear liquids, Gatorade, and coconut water. I was worried about nausea and vomiting, so I called my doctor, who said I should take GasEx 30 minutes before starting the Suprep. I followed the directions on the box but cut some lemon wedges to suck on in between drinks of the liquid. I didn't think it was awful (not as bad as taking Nyquil). No nausea or cramping. It was pretty simple. Did not use GasEx for morning dose and had mild vomiting. Otherwise, much easier than anticipated."

For Bowel Preparation "OK - disclaimer before I start: I have a fairly regular bowel and rarely experience any stomach discomfort! I did a lot of reading on the Internet, so I felt that I was quite prepared for this experience. I stopped eating solid foods 24 hours before the prep deadline, and I only had soup on the morning of prep day. I put the bottles of the mix into the fridge, so when the time came, they were nicely chilled. At 4 pm the day before the procedure, I used cool water to prepare the first cup, which I was able to drink (even though I dislike cherry flavor) quite easily. The 'action' started within 45 minutes, and I did not experience any pain, nausea, or discomfort. I was 'done' by 8 pm. And it was the same the next morning."

For Bowel Preparation "It's hard to rate a medicine as a 'good thing' when you take it to get diarrhea, but overall this is a far less nasty experience than I was expecting. Yes, the taste is bad, and yes, it's hard to consume so much fluid in a short period of time, but it wasn't half as bad as I expected. Within 20 minutes, I started having effects and was done within 3 hours. Only a little nausea (in waves) and no cramping or other abdominal pain. Took my 1st dose at 6 am, went to bed comfortably at 11, got up at 3:30 for my second dose, it's almost 5 am, and I am on the downside of the laxative effects, and it's pretty much clear liquid coming out. My procedure is at 8 am. I dreaded the prep so much, I get nauseated easily, and it turns out the fasting was the worst part."

For Bowel Preparation "Certainly easier than the prep I used 10 years ago. I started prep at 4:00 pm and was still 'responding' at midnight. Second dose taken at 5:45 am and was much easier than the night before. Elimination was clear by 8:00 am. No nausea, cramping, just chills."

For Bowel Preparation "Started the prep for the first colonoscopy at 2 PM, as instructed. I figured how bad could this be ... This stuff tastes awful! Swamp water is a kind description. Had a normal bowel movement about 3 PM. Around 3:45 the flood gates opened. So far, it's been 75 minutes with 3, 15-minute trips to the bathroom. The noises coming from my stomach are pretty amazing, I'm half expecting an alien to pop out. If your system says go, I suggest you move to your closest bathroom. It's not fooling."

For Bowel Preparation "I have to be one of the scariest individuals in the world when it comes to medication. Therefore, after reading all of the reviews, I was traumatized and afraid to begin my bowel prep. However, I took the advice of some of the other reviews and made sure that I followed the liquid diet, chilled the Suprep, took small sips, and used a lemon as a chaser. The medicine began to gently work within the hour without any complications. The purpose of the medicine is to clean the bowels, so I expected that I would have numerous trips to the restroom. However, that process was not bad as well. The second time at 5:00 a.m. went exactly the same. I am happy to report that I didn't experience any nausea, vomiting, or cramping. The rest is history!"

For Bowel Preparation "I was freaking out about how Suprep would taste. I have my procedure tomorrow, so I'm going to comment on here as time progresses. I put both bottles of Suprep mix in the fridge last night. The pharmacist suggested I mix it with ginger ale or 7 Up. So I decided to mix it with 7 Up. Honestly, it was not that bad. Everyone makes it out to be the most vile thing they've tasted ever. Was it delicious? No, it was just really sweet, syrupy, with a little bit of a bitter aftertaste. I chugged it. Couldn't do it with a straw, it was taking too long. I drank one 16-oz water right after. I felt nauseous and full, but not from the Suprep, but from the volume of liquid. So far, so good. Will check back in a few hours..."

For Bowel Preparation "I'm 60, and had one previous colonoscopy over ten years ago. I don't remember how unpleasant the prep solution was, but it was taken in one dose, not over two days, as is more generally done now. I chilled my water and the Suprep overnight. It took me about ten minutes to get it all down. Nasty stuff! I just kept chugging it as quickly as I could. I stopped to take sips of iced tea whenever it became nauseating. Once you get it down, the rest is a breeze. You will want to drink the next 32 ounces of water, just to get that taste out of your mouth. All in all, it could have been much worse. Just do it!"

For Bowel Preparation "This was my second colonoscopy with Suprep. Here are my tips to getting through: use a straw placed at the back of the throat and a swimmer's nose clip to minimize the awful taste. I also ate a low-residue diet for a couple of days before (e.g., chicken, pasta, eggs) so as to not have a lot to clean out. The stuff worked in about 20 minutes, and I was passing clear liquid well before the second dose, which did not go down as well. I started throwing it back up after only drinking about a third of the mix. I drank about 20 ounces of the 'follow-up' water and spent the next couple of hours on the throne passing more clear liquid. Had some chills and nausea with Suprep, but thankfully no headache. Thanks to all who shared their comments!"

For Bowel Preparation "I took the Suprep at 6:00 p.m. The taste was unpleasant but avoidable. I found that pinching my nose, closing my eyes, and chasing the drink with Gatorade cut the aftertaste completely. I was a bit nauseated for the first 15 minutes and had my first bowel movement in the first 20. I did not eat for 48 hours before taking this and drank plenty of water in preparation. I took my second dose again at 9. This time, I was on the toilet more frequently. It took me two drinks to get it down. Overall, I dreaded this experience, and it was nowhere near as awful as I had foreseen! My first colonoscopy is tomorrow, and I've heard that the prep is the worst part. It's 1:15 a.m., and I'm still having bowel movements, but they're clear!"

For Bowel Preparation "I'm no wimp. Had my ovaries out and double mastectomy. This stuff is awful. After completing the first bottle, I dreaded taking the second bottle all night long. I got 2/3 of the second dose in me and literally could not force myself to drink any more. Its sick, salty-sweet taste is gagging. Tried cold water and holding my nose. My friend got us Dulcolax; wish I had his GI! It works, but I also don't have anything else to compare to for efficacy."

For Bowel Preparation "My SUPREP kit had the mixing cup and 2 bottles of the solution. It smelled like grape soda. 20 minutes or so prior to use, I put it and the water in the freezer to chill, mixed it, used a straw, and it tasted like the 'Nugrape' soda I drank as a kid. I was easily able to drink it. No nausea. Did its job. No sweat."

For Bowel Preparation "This is some of the most awful tasting stuff in the world. The first dose I mixed with apple juice. It was still so salty, and the aftertaste made me shake and cringe. I felt bloated, nauseated, and dizzy until I started pooping. It took 1 and 1/2 hours to work. I have pooped from 7:30 pm until time for my next dose at 5:30 AM. The medicine worked wonderfully, but it tastes so awful that I immediately began gagging and shaking when I opened the second bottle. I'm soooooo nauseated. It's awful stuff, but it does the job!"

For Bowel Preparation "First colonoscopy, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I found my experience better than a lot of these reviews. My Suprep was a cherry flavor (like others, it doesn't mention the flavor anywhere on the bottle) with a bitter aftertaste. Upon first chug, didn't seem so bad, but it built pretty quickly. I can definitely see how others might throw this up. I chugged about 3 oz at a time, stopping for a few minutes each time and sipping some yellow Gatorade to wash away the flavor. I felt a bit nauseated, but the breaks helped to calm it down a bit. The prep worked within 45 minutes each time, and as long as you followed the soft diet and then liquid diet instructions, it's really not bad. It might save your life, so just get 'er done."

For Bowel Preparation "I had my first colonoscopy last week. I was prepared for the worst. It's no fun, but not nearly as bad as I expected. I mixed the Suprep with ice water and drank it through a straw. I took four big sips, rested for a minute, then four more, rested again, and then finished it off. The taste isn't great, but bearable. Afterwards, I let a single peppermint lifesaver dissolve on my tongue; it completely removed the aftertaste. Finally, the elimination process was gentle. No cramps or nausea. The process took about two hours. Colonoscopy results were pretty good. Glad I went, although sorry I waited until I was 61. PLEASE do not let fear of the prep process prevent you from getting this lifesaving exam."

For Bowel Preparation "I am a critical care nurse for over 7 years. I have given prep to hundreds of patients over the years, this is my first self-experience. At 28 years old, I have to have a colonoscopy and EGD for abdominal pain and bloody stools for over 3 weeks. I have a pretty diverse palate and eat some crazy things, but this: HORRIBLE! I choked down every swig. Smells half decent, tastes terrible. Called my doctor, and there really isn't any other prep available. So, I did what I had to do. I will say, the effects weren't terrible. No cramping. No bloating. Only nausea was the gagging to get it down. A few watery stools. I understand it's most likely because of the electrolyte mix, but O. M. G! Something needs to be done about the taste! Indescribable!"

For Bowel Preparation "Followed advice here-use cold, cold, cold water. Taste is like cherry cough meds but lighter-second cup seemed saltier (maybe I didn't mix the water and dosage bottle well enough?) Anyway, it worked for two full hours-all almost clear. Next dose-still clear. I felt good I had been a good light eater. Then to bed at 10. Wake up at 3:30-cramps; run RUN for bathroom; that last meal high in the colon was on its way down!!! Probably should skip that last light meal the day before you start the prep! All in all, the experience was fairly easy-hard to drink all that water, also used ginger ale as others have noted. Too much sweet juice made me a little nauseous. Would definitely use this again."

For Bowel Preparation "My first colonoscopy was yesterday. I am glad I found this site beforehand, as I used several suggestions. I chilled the solution, mixed it with room temp 7Up, divided it into 3 cups, drank with a large straw, and sucked on a lemon slice between each drink. It did work very fast. Went through the same procedure the next morning. I had no issues with chills, nausea, headache, or cramps. The hardest part was drinking the additional water after the first round of the solution."

For Bowel Preparation "Initially, some of these reviews scared me to tears. But I would like to share some tips that will help. I placed the Suprep on the lower shelf in the refrigerator the night before. Drinking it chilled helps to take the edge off. Follow directions as prescribed. I used a straw and alternated sipping water to clear my palate from the salty aftertaste. Smells sweet and tastes like a child's grape-flavored cold medicine and salt. I experienced no nausea or vomiting. Drink water as directed. Worked in an hour and repeatedly for at least 3 to 4 hours. Stay hydrated. No, it's not the best tasting liquid, but a few times, I licked on white peppermint candy, like Lifesavers, in between swallows, but you can only do that during the first prep. No candy the day of your procedure (no red, blue, or purple striped candy). It was harder to get the second dose down at 4 a.m., but much easier since it was chilled ahead of time. Colonoscopy was a breeze--didn't feel a thing. Hope this helps."

For Bowel Preparation "I also read all the reviews and got really nervous before using Suprep. This is my second colonoscopy, and the first one I had to use the Golytely jug. Both have pros and cons. I will say that you had to consume less with Suprep, and there was no pain or cramping. I did have nausea after taking it. There is no hiding that it tastes vile, but this helped me: 1) squeeze lemon juice in it to kill the sweetness, 2) make sure it's VERY cold, 3) and divide it into four. Had I chugged it, I would have puked it. Drinking the Suprep was the worst part. But overall, very effective in getting you clean."

For Bowel Preparation "By far, it was the most vile taste ever, even being chilled. It was 100 times worse than drinking pre-workout for all my gym-goers out there. Even mixed with “Glacier Cherry” Gatorade, it didn’t seem to mask the taste one bit. I had to throw in the white flag even before I finished the first bottle. After even taking a Zofran an hour before the prep started, it was still unable to get it down. With the fear of having to puke up my prep and be forced to cancel my procedure, I went to the Miralax and Ducolace pills instead, which you can virtually not even taste at all. Although the prep involves more fluid, just realize if you have a problem with sour/salty syrup drinks that make your whole body shake, I advise going the Miralax route and avoiding Suprep. I even spent $70 on this and still threw it out because of how terrible it was. Anyway, procedures tomorrow, hope it goes well. I thought I would have been able to man up and power through, but I wasn’t able to. Beware. Good luck."

I don't know how I will even get through tomorrow morning's second dose. I dread it. I will NEVER use this stuff again. I may be a big baby/wimp, but Suprep is awful."

For Bowel Preparation "I was scared prior to taking this prep because I read so many bad reviews online. I completed my Suprep two days ago, and it was a breeze. No nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain. I think a lot of people get sick because they drink the prep/water too fast. I mixed my prep with Powerade White Cherry, and it wasn't bad at all. The taste is really sweet, but salty as well. Probably took around 40 minutes for me to drink the entire bottle, but I had my first bowel movement before finishing the bottle. I decided to sip on the 32 oz of water after finishing the Suprep, which took an additional 2 hours. I did everything really slowly, but I didn't get sick or nauseous. Get Destine!! I probably went to the bathroom 11 times. I was clean for colonoscopy!!"

For Bowel Preparation "My prep instructions were one 6 oz bottle the evening before and one 6 oz bottle the morning of the colonoscopy. Both times were similar, started working within 20-25 minutes and lasted a couple of hours. I mixed it with Sprite. The review that mentions salty grape cough syrup was spot on. The first bottle wasn't terrible, the second one almost made me puke. Compared to other prep experiences I've heard outside of this site, I think Suprep is probably one of the easier ones, of course, everyone reacts differently."
