For Bowel Preparation "This was not bad!! Mixed with Gatorade and took a mouthful gulp every 5 minutes. This prevented me from feeling nauseous!!! I read a lot of people on here swigged it down all at once and experienced chills, nausea - to be expected when you do that - it’s a lot of medicine for the body to handle!!! Easy does it!!! And in between sips, I sucked once on a lemon wedge coated in sugar, being careful not to ingest any pulp! It worked great! The taste is manageable!! It smells like cherry cough syrup and tastes like salty, liquid-soapy cherry cough medicine. It’s not great, but I managed and I really truly have a terrible gag reflex! My only concern is the possibility of the laxative not cleansing my colon properly since I have been constipated for a few days straight. But if I had to do the procedure over again with this prep kit, I know I would survive it! It’s really no big deal!! Do not make it worse than it has to be."

For Bowel Preparation "I took Suprep at 6 pm after a day of liquid diet. Yes, they need to make this better-tasting, and a smaller amount would be great, but no cramping, no vomiting, yes to slight nausea. 45 mins after taking my first dose, I was in the bathroom for approx 2 hrs (wish I had realized I wouldn't be coming out for that time, could hardly make it to the door). Yellow but not completely clear. I was able to sleep from 10:30 to 3:15. My second dose was at 3:30 am and was much harder to get down but started working right away. By the time I left at 6 am to go check in, the discharge was clear yellow with some mucus."

For Bowel Preparation "I honestly was not terribly offended by the taste. It tasted like salty grape Kool-Aid. I did use lemon slices after each drink. I highly recommend walking around after each treatment. It will help to move it along and get rid of that bloating. I never had nausea, like 10 years ago. All in all, not too bad."

For Bowel Preparation "This will be my first colonoscopy. I used many hints from the reviews here. I chilled the solution and mixed it with part water and part 7UP. It tasted like salty cherry soda. I divided it into three cups and used a large straw. I sucked on a lemon slice between each drink. I then drank all the extra water in a short time. It does work very fast. I started at 5:00 pm and was done by 10:00 pm. I had no headache, chills, cramping, or nausea. The second round was no trouble either. I am very glad I read reviews on here first."

For Bowel Preparation "If you have any GI issues, I strongly suggest not doing this prep. Embalming fluid couldn’t taste as bad. Premedicated with Zofran (to stop vomiting and nausea) and couldn’t get through half of the first bottle. Severe vomiting and diarrhea within ten minutes. Spent the next 24 hours with chills and a horrendous headache, followed by IV fluids. Absolutely no reason for a prep to be this harsh. Will never do Suprep again."

For Bowel Preparation "Totally not as bad as expected! I am 18 years old and had to prep for a colonoscopy and an upper endoscopy. I took Suprep as the prep solution. The taste is not awesome, but if you add super cold water, use thick straws, and have fruit juice in between swallows, you'll do fine! I used the split dose - I took the first one at 6 pm the night before my procedure (at 6:30 am the next morning), and it took about 2 hours. The next dose (at 2:30 am, way early!) took about an hour and a half. The anticipation was the worst part. DEFINITELY get Vaseline and baby wipes, these saved my life in those hours! All in all, there's no need to get worked up. No nausea, dizziness, or headache. Pretty awesome!"

For Bowel Preparation "I was so scared to take this prep after reading all of the horror stories...but it was so much easier than I anticipated! Unlike the average, I decided to space out both of my doses and drink them in 2 oz shot glasses every 10 minutes. My first dose was at 6 pm, and I wasn't sure how my body would react, so I wanted to play it safe. I had my first movement within 30 minutes, and after that, every 10 minutes or so. Definitely make sure to be close to a restroom, as the need to go is VERY strong! I drank ginger ale with my 'shots' and sucked on lemon slices to get rid of the taste. To anyone reading this who is worried...DON'T BE! It's really easy. Good luck!"

For Bowel Preparation "Had my endo and colonoscopy at 7:30 am. Started taking the first dose at 7:30 pm the night before. It took an hour to work with a bit of cramping and nausea. It kept working for the next three hours. Took the second dose at 2 am. Almost vomited due to nausea and spent the next couple of hours in the restroom. The second dose works faster. The hardest part is taking so much water within the hour. For those who are worried about the actual procedure or sedation, don't be... the procedure is the easiest. Good luck to everyone."

For Bowel Preparation "1. Read this forum for suggestions on nausea remedies and prep day diet and to get an idea of the general experience. Mine closely matched the more positive reviews. 2. Start hydrating. At least 80 oz of water/day for several days before prep; I had over 140 oz on prep day itself. 3. Stock your bathroom before starting prep. I had a beverage cooler with water, lemonade, and ginger ale in the bathroom, along with plenty of TP, flushable wipes, ointment, clean clothes, towels, my phone, and some entertainment. You won't be able to leave the bathroom for a while, 75 min for me. 4. Prepare somewhere to rest close to the bathroom. I didn't have any 'accidents' but was less anxious about them since I had towels and old blankets on the bed."

For Bowel Preparation "This stuff is horrible! The first gulp and I was ready to throw it up. I didn't, thankfully, not the first bottle anyway. It's like drinking poison. Then with each bottle, you have to literally sit on the toilet for 4 hours each because it takes forever for it to clean you out. The second bottle I painfully downed but threw up shortly thereafter. Then, 6 hours after taking the last dose, I still have diarrhea! This product should be taken off the shelves or might be more effective than waterboarding. Do not take this, please ask for a gentler product. I will never take this again!"

For Bowel Preparation "First off, take an anti-nausea pill about an hour before you drink each bottle the day prior and day of your colonoscopy. It really helps. Also, drink down the 16 oz solution all at once, don’t prolong it. Not to mention, it ends the process much quicker the sooner you drink it down. Also, drink 8 oz of water every 15 min for the next hour to get the additional 32 oz required of water down. It helps your belly out doing this method. Within 45 min the evening prior and the day of my procedure, I had watery bowel moments that lasted about 2 to 3 hours with 15 breaks between moments. By hour one on the second bottle, I had clear bowel movements, so this product does its job and cleans you out pretty fast. I highly recommend using Suprep. It doesn’t taste the best, but I had a successful procedure, so it did its job!"

For Bowel Preparation "My doctor assured me the best way to take the prep was mixed with either 7-Up, Sprite, or ginger ale instead of water. No nausea. I drank it through a straw. After finishing the two 16 oz, it was about 30 minutes till my first movement, and then just water. The next morning, repeated prep, it was 10 minutes later, and I was on the toilet but only for about 2 hours. Then it was all over, no residual effects. Best prep ever. Colon was clear and clean."

For Bowel Preparation "First Suprep at 6 pm. I stopped drinks 40 min prior. Helped to drink the 48 oz to come. Suprep tastes like grape bile. Held nose, used straw, and ice-cold Crystal Lite. Orange sliced to suck on after each mouthful. Bitterness hits at the back of the tongue, it is vile, the orange helps, and so does gum. Walked around while I drank, finished it in 6 huge gulps with straw in about 8 minutes. Then 32 ounces of ice-cold Crystal Lite. Took 45 minutes to kick in. Then 8 oz of warm chicken bone broth/hour, which helped with chills. Slept before the 4 am dose. Repeated while walking around. Wanted it over ASAP. Slightly nauseated but kept distracted with iPad and newspaper (lifesavers would have been good). I wasn’t “clear” until almost time to leave. But successful cleanse, will repeat in 5 years. This stuff tasted really bad. I convinced myself it was just 1 night and I could do it. This page helped immensely. United Health wouldn’t cover this. Doc gave it to me for free. Walgreens said cost $200."

For Bowel Preparation "Bowel preps all taste bad. It is not the taste but something else, not sure what, that makes it hard to drink. I drank the first 16 oz portion between 6:30 and 7 pm or so after a day of consuming only fluids. It was hard to get it all down (I am small, not a 250 lb person!) and if I tried to force it too fast, I was nauseated. The following 2x16 oz drinks of water went down much more easily. Output began at about 7:30. I spent about 2 hours on the toilet, just letting it happen, no cramps, no forceful output, never wiping, reading a book. It was not completely done after that, but I could get to the toilet as needed from bed. The second dose was started at 3 am for an 8 am colonoscopy. It took less time to drink (20 min for the Suprep, 30 for the water) and output began sooner (30 min). I had only a brief time in bed before leaving for the surgery facility. The output was like urinating but from the other opening."

For Bowel Preparation "Ok, I read all the reviews on here beforehand and was thinking everyone was being dramatic, and it actually is tolerable taste-wise. I was very wrong. It’s absolutely awful. You’re supposed to drink it along with 32 oz of water within 2 hours, and I’ve been trying to finish it for over 2 hours now. I’ve tried lemon slices, Jolly Ranchers, mixed it with lemon Gatorade, chased it with ginger ale, Gatorade, a slushee, nothing is helping. I still have almost half left. There’s no way I’m going to be able to get the second round down, so I’m praying this one cleans me out completely. The taste is absolutely horrendous, though. It tastes like there are 3 cups of salt in old cherry cough medicine. I can’t swallow more than two gulps without gagging and having to drink something else."

For Bowel Preparation "I just finished my first age-recommended colonoscopy. My experience was straightforward; no side effects, and Suprep worked. I was worried after reading some of the reviews here; it was easier than I anticipated. Things that worked well for me: 1. Refrigerate both the bottle of Suprep and the water you’ll mix it with. 2. Drink the Suprep/water mixture through a straw to bypass some of the taste buds. 3. Have a flavored beverage nearby while drinking the Suprep/water to cover the Suprep taste between swigs. I used Sprite once and orange Gatorade the second time. 4. Mix the post-Suprep water/beverage with Simethicone drops (1.8 ml = 3 droppersful per 16 oz water) to prevent problems with gas. 5. Coat your bum with Vaseline before you start drinking. 6. Use a bidet toilet seat if you have one. Fortunately, I didn’t have any nausea, cramping, chills, or gas that others have mentioned. You can do it! It’s really not bad."

For Bowel Preparation "I have several had procedures and have used 3 other preps, all of which are much better than this nasty stuff. The most horrible taste ever... I can't think of anything to compare. Then get it down and the water, sit and bloat and cramp for 3 hours, and then bingo. I went once about every 15 minutes for 4 hours. Then had chills and felt like I was hit by a big truck. I gave up and sucked down the second dose after 2 hours because I was sure that at 2 AM the second dose wasn't happening. I went off and on all night and just before my procedure at 7 AM the next morning. Warning: Your poor butt will burn like you are sitting in the fireplace. Yes, the wiping does irritate it, but I am convinced all the salt in this mixture is gas on the fire. I told my Doc never again."

For Bowel Preparation "First bottle, all the disgusting that most everyone says; plus chills and nausea. Then read here about straws and lemons (had none). Second bottle used the straw; yes, it bypasses most of the mouth surface. I drank 1/3 through straw and immediately swished my mouth with black coffee and spit, then swished with mint mouthwash and spit. Two more rounds of straw drinking and swish and spit. For me, totally worked; no disgusting taste. Sipped the additional water for an hour versus drinking it all down quickly like the first bottle (no nausea or chills the second time). Do something to clear your mouth between rounds of drinking the med. Eight stars for the second bottle and that I was 100% cleaned for colonoscopy per Dr. When you can see through to the white toilet bowl, you are sure you are empty!"

For Bowel Preparation "This is my third colonoscopy. Sure, Suprep doesn't taste good, but it's nowhere near as bad as the Phospho-soda stuff I had years ago with the first procedure. That stuff was like drinking concentrated seawater. The Suprep was a walk in the park by comparison. The two-day prep worked well for me, and I think the bland, low bulk, low fiber diet two days before the procedure reduces the cramps and abdominal discomfort. Thirty minutes after the first dose, it started working. I had a little nausea, a few chills, but nothing major. I have yet to take the second dose, but don't anticipate any problems."

For Bowel Preparation "The flavor of the drink made me gag and feel nauseous. I was only able to sip it with a straw. I made it 2/3 of the way through the first drink before I was too nauseated to continue. If I had not been sucking on lemons (as suggested by other reviewers), I would not have managed to drink the 2/3 cup. Regardless, I was in the bathroom within 15 minutes of my first sip of the drink, so this prep did what it was supposed to do. At 3:00 a.m., I started to drink cup 2. I could hardly stomach it and began to gag after drinking perhaps 1/4 of the cup and could no longer continue. However, even the 1/4 cup put me back in the bathroom, and when I went for the colonoscopy, I was told I was fully clean. I guess I did not need the whole dose."

For Bowel Preparation "I cannot chug-a-lug anything fast and have to depend on a straw. This was the easiest prep I have taken yet. Yes, it tastes pretty bad, but I experimented and also used a lot of the comments already on this website. 1. Refrigerate as soon as you can. Told by the nurse that you DON'T have to take it with water. I used strong sweet tea, added chipped ice. Drank as much at a time as I could, then had a cold banana ready and sucked it for a while. Then continued until finished. 2. For the 2 16 oz, I used Ginger Ale for the first 16 oz, then Diet Coke. All went well until after I finished the Coke and threw it up. Nurse said OK. 3. When bowls started moving, use baby wipes, had no rawness. 4. Repeated 1st prep except for 2 16 oz, just drank Ginger Ale."

For Bowel Preparation "The taste wasn't great but wasn't awful like I was expecting. Best way I can describe it is salty lime. I used cold water and drank with a straw. I didn't chug it so I wouldn't feel nauseous. I watched TV to take my mind off of it. First prep kicked within 45 minutes and the peak lasted an hour after that. I was able to climb in bed after that but don't go far because there's no warning. Slept for a few hours, then time for 2nd prep. This time I felt nauseous so I took my time. It took effect instantly and was more intense. Couldn't leave the bathroom for 1.5 hours at all. Watched TV to pass the time. Back to bed after that. Keep up with broth, jello, and Gatorade all day beforehand to keep calories going is my best advice. Colonoscopy was easy."

For Bowel Preparation "This was my first time using Suprep. My doctor ordered 2 kits to be used. One the day before, with a liquid diet, and one the day of the procedure. He also wrote Zofran (for nausea) to be taken 30 minutes prior to each dose. That helps tremendously. A few tips I discovered to help get it down: 1) use a large straw with a bendable neck. You can get more volume down and move your nose away from the smell of the prep! 2) cut lemon wedges to suck immediately after swallowing the prep. It cuts the bitter aftertaste. 3) I chased each gulp with lemonade. It seemed to help mask the taste of the prep. All 4 doses down and waiting for my procedure. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!"
