For High Cholesterol "I was on Repatha for 5 months, from 9/18 to 2/19. I am type 2 diabetic. I had to get off the drug as my blood glucose was uncontrollable. Now the Repatha site reports a common side effect: high blood sugar levels (diabetes). I have detailed eye exams due to my diabetes each year. Between annual exams and taking Repatha, I suddenly have a tear in my retina that I had sealed via laser surgery. The Mayo Clinic website reports eye-related side effects of Repatha. Six months after ending Repatha, I have bladder cancer. My urologist said the tumor grew in the last 6-8 months and was quite large. I had a CT scan 2 years ago, and there was no cancer or tumors, so the cancer is recent. Bladder cancer is caused by smoking (non-smoker) or exposure to chemicals. The Repatha side effects include bladder pain, bloody or cloudy urine, and frequent or painful urination. The drug appears to affect the bladder. NCIS rule 39: 'There is no such thing as coincidence.'"

For High Cholesterol "I have been on this drug for 1 year now. It has definitely lowered my cholesterol. However, now I have severe muscle pulls without doing much. Calf muscle strain, glute muscle strain, shoulder pain. My doctor said Repatha does not have these side effects. Bull! I am going to go off for 3 months and see if I feel better to see if it really is the drug. Will update."

For High Cholesterol "Severe muscle pain and weakness in my legs and nerve pain. Can't sleep at night and can hardly walk, the pain is so bad. My feet feel like they are burning, but on top they are cold. I have been on Repatha for 2 1/2 months. Don't know how long this will continue. I'm a 64-year-old woman."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "Elevated LDL, and I could not tolerate statins. Went years without any medication until my cardiologist recommended trying Repatha, saying it has hardly any known side effects. After taking 5 shots, I have to disagree and probably stop taking this miracle drug. It certainly works, after 2 months, my LDL went down 50%. But after about 1.5 months in, I started to have side effects: excessive sweating (head), chills, weak legs, pain and aching in feet, ankles, knees, and groin. Dry and itchy sinuses. Change in vision. Mild back pain and overall fatigue. I stopped taking it for a month, and about 3 weeks after, the side effects were gone. After 4 weeks, I tried to take another shot, and in 4-5 days, all the goodies were back. Works great if you can tolerate it."

For High Cholesterol "I'm a very active 63-year-old with a 4x bypass. After a year of not recommending any cholesterol treatment, I finally brought it up myself with my doctor when she recommended Repatha because of my statin intolerance. After my first injection, I started to experience muscle pain in my lats and pecs. It felt like a severe muscle cramp that spread to my arms, although my muscles were not constricting as they would with a muscle cramp. I conferred with my doctor, and she said I should not be feeling any side effects because it takes 3 months to reach a therapeutic level. So, I took the shot the second month, and I'm sorry that I did and will not be taking it again because the pain has spread to other areas."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Homozygous "With Repatha, I had elevated BP even with maximum BP meds. Ended in ER with BP over 200 with uncontrollable nosebleed. Extreme joint pain and swelling, leg and back pain, and muscle weakness. Flushing, fatigue, headache, and blurred vision. Gained weight (sometimes 5 lbs overnight). Stopped taking and hope side effects go away."

For High Cholesterol "I started taking Repatha in Feb. of 2016. It lowered my cholesterol considerably at the beginning but started experiencing pain in my legs, hips, back, and shoulders right after taking it. I did not tie it to the Repatha at first. I gave myself an injection in the leg in August and had a large swelling at the site of the injection. It went down in 4 days, but the pain in my body became severe to the point I could not walk many days. My muscles and tendons became very swollen. I called the number listed on the Repatha prescription insert a total of 4 times because the pain was so bad. The Repatha representatives were no help and told me to talk to my doctor. I finally ended up in the emergency room, and then had an aneurysm 3 days ago. I blame it on Repatha!"

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I had a heart attack at 47. My cholesterol was 193, but LDL was a little high. I have a family history, so I visited a cardiologist at 45 and was told everything was great, I had 'the heart of a 30-year-old.' After getting two stents and having blood work done, it was determined I produce smaller particles and absorb more cholesterol. They put me on statins, but they were crippling to me. My joints were swollen and ached. I’m very active, I go to the gym 3-5 days a week and exercise daily. I've been on Repatha for 3 years, my LDL is under 40 at every checkup. I don’t notice side effects as I did from the statins. I read these reviews and was shocked by all the problems... it sounds like my statin experience."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I was leery about starting a drug that hasn't been on the market that long and also my distrust for pharmaceutical companies. Repatha worked and brought down my LDL, but there is a cost. In the beginning, I'd just have cold symptoms and some fatigue, which only lasted a few days, but with time I would eventually develop more side effects that lasted longer, such as PVCs, and now I get burning in my feet, hands, and throughout my body. The doctor said I may have neuropathy, but when tested at the time, it showed no damage. I'd stop Repatha for two months and everything would settle down, but my fear of having a heart attack would cause me to try it again. I have taken two more shots, and now the burning is back, and I had flu-like symptoms that have caused me to stop exercising and miss some days of work too. I don't know what I'm going to do, but I don't want to live my life suffering like this. I also don't like when doctors don't want to put the blame on the medication that they know nothing about."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I've been taking Repatha for 1 year. I have always had very high cholesterol in spite of a good diet and regular exercise. Reduced my LDL from 262 lb to 119 lb (I can’t tolerate statins, and I have controlled diabetes with an A1C of 6.5). In the first few doses, I experienced leg cramps and stomach upset, so I reduced my injections to once a month instead of twice, and I have been feeling better. Tried again twice a month, but I experienced muscle weakness, tiredness, blurred vision, tightness in my chest/neck, and heart palpitations. Reduced my injections to once every 3 weeks, but I still had tightness in my chest/neck and felt stressed while breathing. I kept thinking my body would adjust. Six weeks ago, I took an injection and had chest tightness that extended up into my neck for 2.5 hours. Four weeks later, I'm starting to feel normal. During this time, I had two stress tests (one nuclear) and a carotid scan. All results were normal. I wore a heart monitor for 7 days, but haven’t received the results yet. The tightness is back, and I don’t feel right. The drug reduces cholesterol, but it has very serious side effects. My doctor kept saying it couldn’t be the drug, I disagree. The test results show it. I don’t want to create another health issue due to Repatha."

For High Cholesterol "I started taking Repatha in April 2017, and the first thing I noticed was back pain, then muscle pain. I can't use my right arm for much and can't open jars and things that require using my wrist. I am dizzy-headed and feel bad all the time (fatigue, I guess). I am taking 2-3 hour naps during the day, and I am only 51. I've never done this before. I talked to my doctor, and she said to come off Repatha for a month and see how I feel. She's not sure it's the medicine. Repatha is really easy to use and is shipped right to my door in a cooler package. Repatha dropped my bad cholesterol from 187 to 67 after 3 doses (bi-weekly). I don't know what to do about taking this drug. I think it's making me feel really bad all the time."

For High Cholesterol "I have been taking 140 mg Repatha every 2 weeks for 8 months. Cholesterol came down significantly, but my feet hurt terribly and my legs hurt terribly. I am 69 and have had a quad bypass 5 years ago and a minor stroke. I have gained 8 pounds. I used to outwalk everybody, now my pain in my feet and legs is so bad that I use a heating pad every night just so the pain will feel better. I also believe it has made me short of breath. So it is good for lowering cholesterol but has terrible side effects. I am going to stop taking it and see in 3 months how much my cholesterol goes up. Glucose blood sugars fasting were 90-102 in the mornings, now blood sugars fasting can be 120-130. Good luck to all who can tolerate it, but I don't want to spend the rest of my life with this leg and feet pain."

For High Cholesterol "This drug is rough. I know it helps some folks with chronic high cholesterol, but I am not one of them. I cannot take statins either. I tried the first injection in October 2022 without much problem. I took the second dose in December (I had elbow surgery in November, which delayed the second dose). I have felt like complete crap, off and on, since then. At first, it was digestive cramping and other issues. It has since moved into my joints, especially my ankles and shoulder/neck. Those are areas where I've had injuries before, so the tissue might be weaker/more susceptible. I read a study that showed Repatha can be so strong that it strips the fatty layer from the myelin sheath on nerves. I have begun supplementing with mega doses of B vitamins, particularly B-12, and consuming lots of collagen and gelatin. I am looking into other supplements, such as immunoglobulins, as well as the usual CoQ-10."

For High Cholesterol "I am on my 9th injection of Repatha. I had no side effects until my 9th injection. My cholesterol levels dropped dramatically, which was great news. However, on the day after my 9th injection, I was out shopping and had a back spasm, and had to call for a ride home. The pain has increased to my hips. I am in consultation with my doctor (via email) to stop taking this medication. Reading the reviews made me realize, yes, I need to stop. I just paid $435.00 for this medication."

For High Cholesterol "Excellent. Over a 30-year period, I had taken all the statin drugs, etc.... all to no avail. My total cholesterol had been well over 230 for over 30 years, and my PCP said I was a prime person to start taking Repatha. The first 6 months of taking the drug, my total cholesterol level went from an average of 234 to exactly 100!!!!! I have two arterial blockages, so this new drug has been a godsend. I will be 86 this year and have absolutely no negative reaction to the drug, and even though I have to budget my monthly monies, I don't ever imagine stopping taking Repatha. I use the SureClick and love it. 1-17-2025...."

For High Cholesterol "I took my first dose of Repatha on a Thursday and had side effects of flu symptoms, terrible back pain, neck pain, and vertigo within 24 hours. By Monday, I was in the ER with a NSTEMI (a type of heart attack). I was sent home on Tuesday. I was back in the ER on Thursday with a second NSTEMI and 2 angiograms. It's been a month now, and I still have muscle pain, weakness, blurry vision, fatigue, depression, shoulder pain, and hand swelling. And this was from just 1 dose. The doctor said there were no side effects. Yeah, okay."

For High Cholesterol "I injected this drug on August 10, 2018. The next morning, I felt like I had the flu with my hands and face swollen. Then 4 days later, horrific diarrhea. After that, horrific mucus from coughing and horrific back pain. Now I have problems with my stomach - I can't eat, drink, or burp, it feels like my stomach is dying along with my colon - horrific swelling in my stomach. I have been rushed to the hospital twice due to an allergic reaction to Repatha, it has also given me an autoimmune disease. This drug is dangerous. I feel like my organs are dying. My doctor is trying different meds to reverse the side effects, but nothing is working. Please be careful, I wish I had researched this drug before taking it. Now I'm bedridden, and it's September 9, 2018, and I am still experiencing side effects."

For High Cholesterol "Repatha worked great to lower my cholesterol and seemed fine for a year. After 1 yr, I started experiencing severe neurapathy starting in one foot then spread to the other foot, up both legs, and then to my hands. An EMG found large fiber nerve damage from ankle to knee. I also experienced severe sciatica at the same time as neurapathy and tried to convince doctors it was related, but they would not consider it and treated them separately. I also experienced blood in urine, and the ER kept saying I had a UTI, but a CT scan of the urinary tract found nothing. I do not have diabetes. I'm a 60+ female and have found other very similar cases online from women of a similar age. I stopped taking it almost 2 months ago, but it takes about 3 months to get out of your system. Sciatica is better with cortisone shots, but I've not seen any improvement in neurapathy yet."

For High Cholesterol "The person with bladder cancer you are correct, it’s the Repatha. My lung cancer tumor grew fast also and has spread to other parts of my body. It’s stage 4. I too had 2 chest X-rays before I went on Repatha and was fine, drove my bike to work every day. I was healthy, but my quality of life went downhill. This is a lawsuit ready to happen. It needs to be removed from the market."

For High Cholesterol "Don't let anyone tell you to hold off on Repatha injections and then 'try again!' Also, do NOT let your doctor convince you there aren't side effects. This is a dangerous drug if you have pre-existing comorbidities. I have RA (rheumatoid arthritis), need 5 surgeries for vascular blockages in my torso and legs, and 4 coronary stents are placed. My RA symptoms of joint pain have worsened with the Repatha, but my biggest negative on this drug is increased blood pressure and chest pain. It's very dangerous when I'm already a heart patient! Think carefully about what your medical issues are and whether you want to risk them worsening. New problems for me are dizziness, sudden gut pain, anxiety, visual disturbances, nausea, and leg weakness. Yes, my cholesterol went from 300 to normal, but even taking an injection every 3 months has incapacitated me and exacerbated my medical issues!"

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "Repatha has been a game changer and probably a lifesaver. I could not take most drugs, statins, that are prescribed for high cholesterol. My lipid doctor said that even if I only ate grass and drank water, I would still have high cholesterol. Several years ago, I had a stroke that thankfully had no lasting ill effects, but it was a signal that something had to be changed in my treatment. I found a doctor that specialized in treating familial high cholesterol, and he prescribed Repatha. It has lowered my overall numbers, and especially my LDL number. The one negative issue I have had was getting my health insurance to cover it. Additionally, when I went on Medicare, the cost increased greatly."

For High Cholesterol "Having taken statins since 1993 for high cholesterol, I became allergic and began Repatha injections a year ago. My hair started falling out, so I had blood work to rule out thyroid trouble. Ruled that out. My numbers are down, but my hair loss continues. I have a feeling it is Repatha causing it. I came on here to see if anyone else was having this problem. It being such a new drug, I feel like a guinea pig. I am scared to stop the drug, but my cholesterol will go sky high again. I am at a loss as to where to turn for answers."

For High Cholesterol "I've been taking Repatha for about 2 years with minimal side effects. About a week ago, I started having severe muscle cramps in my legs, feet, and ankles. I decided to research how other patients feel while taking this med. Needless to say, I've had similar symptoms as others, but I never associated them with Repatha. I am now going to talk to my cardiologist for other treatments for high cholesterol as I can't take any statins. I have to do what's best for me without endangering my health."
