For Birth Control "When I first got the implant in, I had spotted bleeding for like 2 weeks straight, and then nothing. I don't get spotting for months at a time or even cramps, every once in a while, I do, but a lot less than I used to. Never had anything else but this, and I'm so glad because with the pill, even 1 day you miss can change everything, and now I don't have to worry. Love it!"

For Birth Control "I got on Implanon because I wanted continuous birth control where I did not have to worry about taking it and/or changing it. Due to a condition, I also needed a hormonal BC. I am about to get it removed because in the 300 days I have had Implanon, there has only been a maximum of 30 days where I was not heavily spotting or downright bleeding. I swear I became anemic from it. Moreover, it has interfered with my daily lifestyle."

For Birth Control "After having baby #4, I had the rod inserted. For the first 8 months, I had heavy bleeding and spotting, with a few days each month without bleeding. This was a nightmare, but I decided to wait it out. I’ve now had no bleeding for almost 3 months, no other issues besides mild headaches most days, which aren’t too bad. I’m so confused, I'm not sure if I should get a tubal ligation or stick with the rod."

For Birth Control "Had mine for a year, did gain half a stone after having it inserted but later lost it and more with a healthy diet. Have irregular periods which can last for 2 weeks, being either heavy or light, always spotting, got bad skin, but most of all started growing facial hair, which my nurse said is an uncommon side effect but can happen! I'm getting it out and going on the patch. Overall, I did like it, the only side effect that bothered me is the facial hair, so I have to get it out! (Implant was free as I'm from the UK)"

For Birth Control "I've been on Implanon 2 years this month, got it 6 weeks after giving birth. Only reason I haven't had it taken out is because I don't want to get pregnant, and I'm not sure what other birth control would be best for me. I've tried the pills before and immediately broke out in hives, but since being on Implanon, my periods are way heavier. Periods before Implanon were 3-4 days, now it comes and goes when it feels like. Always have random spotting, sometimes for a whole month. My painful cramps turned into contractions. Mood changes every day for no reason, and I have a very, very low sex drive, which was never the case before this. No weight gain, which I was hoping for. Randomly get nauseous. I'm ready to get it taken out, thinking about going on the shot."

For Birth Control "My doctor informed me that out of every 10 women that get this implant, it only agrees with 2. The spotting has been on and off the whole time. The worst part is that the bleeding is not the worst side effect. Not even the bad breakouts in my skin (which is also a pain!). It's the mental issues that have ensued that have been the biggest burden. In the past month, I have noticed a big decline in my mood. I get highly irritated over the smallest things, and I'd break out into tears over everything. I've cried every day for the past 5 days in a row, and I'm physically and mentally exhausted. The depression is too much. I am only realizing now that this is out of my character and the implant is probably the cause. The cons far outweigh the pros."

For Birth Control "I have had the Implanon for almost 8 months. I have experienced so much bleeding. I was on my period for six months, off for a month, then on again. Recently, it stopped for a few days, and I have had some spotting just today. My sex drive is normal, and it does what it's meant to do: not get me pregnant. I like how I don't have to remember to take it as often as other birth control, and it lasts for a while."

For Birth Control "I had Implanon inserted in January 08. I get my half-period roughly every 9 weeks. Of course, there's spotting. Half period is when you don't use a tampon, just a mini pad. I haven't used a tampon in at least 11 months. There's no need to."

For Birth Control "I had Implanon put in March 2010. No problems in the beginning; still had my period, only lighter, with some spotting. Now I've been spotting for the past 3 weeks, and all I want to do is eat. My breasts are tender and swollen. Sex drive - not there. I'm really considering having the Implanon removed and just relying on condoms. Unfortunately, I can't take the pill because it has estrogen and I've had a history of blood clots after knee surgery."

For Birth Control "I had my implant put in in August of 2018. Great birth control. I’m down to my last month with it. I have no clue if mine ran out or not, but the last 5 months I’ve gained a ton of weight. I’ve had spotting, which I have never had. I haven’t had a period or any type of bleeding in over 10 years. I’ve had massive headaches, mood swings. Other than that, I have loved my birth control."

For Birth Control "Last year (June 2009), at the age of 26, I got my Implanon. My doctor and I discussed my options. Due to the stage I am in of not wanting kids, I had the option of getting the IDU, but he and I found it in the best interest to get the Implanon (my doctor is awesome). I read all the reviews, and I know that everybody is different and there will be different side effects to no side effects. I don't have any cramping, but each month, around the time for my period, my body sends me that signal. My periods went from very light to spotting immediately. Now, the problem is the spotting timing has changed, now more of discharging a brownish color and had more concerns. I contacted my doctor and prescribed medicines for each complaint I had."

For Birth Control "I had Implanon inserted in March of 2008 after my friend had it inserted and said it was fine. The only problem I have had was irregular periods, they were very irregular. Sometimes they were short, and I called it spotting, but then I would spot for about 1-2 weeks. But then it would go away for a month and come back. I think a lot of it was stress. Since July of this year, I sort of started new with my life. I have had two periods since July (it is November), and they were both short and more of a heavy spotting. But it's been a lot better. Overall, I am happy with it, and in 2011 I will get a new one inserted, unless they come out with something better!"

For Birth Control "First two weeks, arm was sensitive and painful. Could feel the implant, but after two weeks, I didn't notice it at all. But I have lost my sex drive, am moody, and have had 7 months of spotting and bleeding. Have to constantly line my panties. Lighter periods. No weight gain. Had a UTI recently, but not sure if that's related. Hope it gets better."

For Birth Control "I've been on Implanon for two months now and simply love it. The insertion was easy; just a slight pinch. I haven't had any complications or extreme irregular bleeding. I did spot for a few days about a month into use, and even then, it was very light. Other than that, I haven't had any of the listed symptoms. It's really reassuring to have such a reliable birth control. I never have to remember to take a pill, and I can always check to make sure it's in place. (3 years)"

For Birth Control "In my experience, the only good thing about Implanon is that you don't have to remember to take a pill every day. I had it for 6 months, and only a few days of that I wasn't bleeding or at least spotting. I also had zero sex drive and a lot of vaginal dryness. I had it removed last week and have since started on the NuvaRing. Hopefully, that will work better for me."

For Birth Control "I am on my second Implanon, and I love it. I have only had about six episodes of light spotting for two to three days in that time, so it's working as intended! I've gained about thirty pounds, but I've also got other health issues going on, so I'm not ready to blame it all on the implant. (There was also cheesecake and ice cream involved. I regret nothing!) It helped with cramps, mood swings, raging hunger, and heavy bleeding and clots for almost seven days every 28 days. I am much easier to live with, even if there's more of me to go around. My migraines aren't any worse or more frequent. I'm absolutely terrible at remembering pills, the ring was getting expensive, and my insurance doesn't cover birth control. It was a good option for me!"

For Birth Control "I love this birth control. I forget I even have it! It's painless and leaves very little scarring. I got this in August 2010, and I have had no problems! I spot from time to time, but very little and not even every month that I spot. I was told awful things about this, and none have been true to me since I've been on this for over a year. I will, for sure, without a doubt, get this again. I love it."

For Birth Control "A couple of weeks after getting this put in, I was spotting constantly for about a month. That was really annoying, but that was only the start. After that stopped, I noticed I was always super moody. During all this, my sex drive had been dwindling, but I didn't want to take the Implanon out because I heard to try it for at least six months to see if the side effects would go away like the spotting did. I regret not taking it out because it got way, way worse. A couple more months went by, and I was depressed on top of my moodiness, and my sex drive had died completely. My boyfriend and I were doing horribly because of all this."

For Birth Control "I have had my Implanon for a year now, and I love it. I spot here and there, I haven't had a real period. I have gained some weight, but I would rather gain some weight than have another baby. I recommend this birth control to pretty much anyone."

For Birth Control "The whole procedure of getting this birth control was simple. It didn't hurt at all and left a tiny bruise that went away quickly. It was great for about a month, then I started getting irregular periods in the first few months. Then went on a 5-month-long period. Always spotting. Off-and-on heaviness. Bad mood swings. At the 4th month, I started getting every symptom of being pregnant: nausea all the time, breast tenderness, moodiness, bloated, sharp cramps, etc. I took 3 pregnancy tests, all negative. Finally got it removed. All symptoms went away not even 2 days after it was out. I didn't gain weight on it, I didn't get pregnant on it. But the other side effects were just too much for me to handle."

For Birth Control "I got my Implanon in March 2009. The procedure was simple, but painful for a couple of weeks. I am excited about the possibilities since I am an older mother who is not sure I am finished with babies. However, I have 'spotted' for 68 of the 90 days! My actual period has decreased to very minimal, but the constant use of a liner is just driving me crazy. In addition, I also have seen some weight gain and skin breakouts. I am trying to add an estrogen patch for a month to see if we can break the cycle."

For Birth Control "I had the Implanon implant inserted in April of 2009. I have gained 12 pounds. I can't lose the weight, though I work out 3 to 4 days a week. I have ridiculous food cravings. I can't eat enough carbs! My breasts stay so tender, and I have zero sex drive. This is horrible, as I am a newlywed. I started to spot, so my GYN had me on the Vivelle Dot for 3 months. After going to the ER with a migraine, I stopped the estrogen patch. I have now been spotting for 6 weeks, with weeks of significant bleeding. I can't wait to have this removed. Oh, and did I mention the anxiety!"

For Birth Control "I got the Implanon on September 3, 2010, and so far I have had mood swings like crazy and had my period for 1 1/2 weeks (normal for me is 3 days) and spotting for another week. My libido has been revved up. So far I think it is okay... but with the whole libido boost and the constant unprotected sex... wondering how likely I am to get pregnant."

For Birth Control "I've had my Implanon for 3 years, and I absolutely love it! I'm getting a new one in a couple of weeks. The best thing about it is NO PERIODS! I had spotting for the first 6 months, which was difficult, but I'm glad I stuck with it because I love not having to worry about my birth control. I'm glad I didn't read any reviews before I got it, though, because I feel like some bad side effects may be a placebo effect. Acne, mood swings, weight gain, even lowered sex drive could all be things being blamed on Implanon when really Implanon is not the cause."
