For Birth Control "It's been almost a year since I got it, and I haven't gone a full week without bleeding. I have gained 15 lbs in 7 months, very depressed, moody, bad cramps, headaches, muscle aches, weakness, digestive problems. The list goes on. I thought it was all in my head, so I'm glad I found these reviews because I am now going to get it removed!"

For Birth Control "Got it in the beginning of the year. Everything was good for about a month. Then I started bleeding constantly. Haven't had a break from bleeding for about 2 months now. Spent almost as much money for pads/tampons as I did for the out-of-pocket money for the implant. Hot and cold flashes are terrible. Still have period cramps. Only thing it's done good for is preventing pregnancy, and it hasn't made me gain weight. Definitely getting it taken out, though, just so the bleeding will stop and everything will go back to normal."

For Birth Control "Honestly, I thought this birth control was the best at first, told everyone I knew to get it. But now, 4 months later, I can't stand it, my emotions have been out of this world, my stress level has been higher, and I went from a happy person to hating everything. I never have gotten cramps before I got this put in, and they are the worst. The bleeding goes from heavy to light but at random times, but means to say I'm getting this removed immediately. Because I know I will go back to my normal self again."

For Birth Control "Okay, so I got the implant for two reasons: I was terrible at remembering to take birth control, and my menstrual cycle every month used to be awful (heavy bleeding, terrible cramps, vomiting, and headaches). I absolutely love Implanon. My monthly symptoms stopped, and I only bled three times this past year for only a few days. I can't speak highly enough of this! It stopped my mood swings caused by hormones, and this past year has been amazing. I was so worried about getting it because there are some bad reviews of this. I was worried about weight gain, mood swings, and breakouts because I used to have severe acne. I did not experience any of those symptoms."

For Birth Control "I love the Implanon! I have been on it for almost 2 yrs. I get it out in Dec 2015. So far, I like it because I always forget to take the pill or get my shot for Depo. I decided to try it, and I love it. I did gain weight, about 60 lbs, but it's not the birth control. It was stress with home, work, and family. I won't get my period for months, then one day I get it. I would have it for like 2 weeks. I had it with everything like cramps, mood swings, and a heavy flow."

For Birth Control "I've had the Implanon since February 2013. The first day I had nausea, but the doctor told me that would be expected. I was on Depo before this. My first period was 3 days, and my next period was 2 weeks long. My side effects are cramps, headaches, depression, and sore breasts. I like the fact I haven't gotten pregnant, but the bleeding part drives me crazy. If the periods didn't come often and the side effects weren't so significant, I would love this, but periods are the negative."

For Birth Control "Implanon is awesome. I've had mine in for over 2 years now and have never had a problem with it. The first two months were tricky, my period lasted for about 3 weeks, then just spotted and then stopped completely. I haven't gotten it since. I also don't get period pain or the mood swings. It's awesome."

For Birth Control "I LOVE THIS. I have had my Implanon since March 2012, and it is great. There will be times that I go for about 2 or 3 months with no period and then get one for 2 weeks. But it doesn't bother me. I don't get cramps anymore, and I wrestle with my kids and my boyfriend, and I never notice the implant at all. No negatives to this! I hope that everyone learns the joy of this!"

For Birth Control "I've had the Implanon for 6 months now - light periods and occasional cramps - but aside from that, no bad side effects! I've even lost weight (only half a stone), so I guess it affects everyone differently! The first month was quite horrible as I was bleeding all the time! But afterwards, it was all fine."

For Birth Control "Implanon does its job, but I do have really crazy mood swings, and I have gained 10 pounds since I've had it in (even though I work out regularly). I have periods every other month (light flow but the worst cramps). Don't know if I can deal with it anymore. Not really used to the changes."

For Birth Control "Pretty good birth control option for me! Have had it for 5 years now. I usually get my period once every 3-6 months. Only con is when I get my period, I'm having PMS symptoms 3 weeks before I get my period (painful cramps, tender breasts, throbbing migraines, etc)."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this birth control for almost 3 years now (August 23rd will be 3 years), and I mean yeah, it does good on preventing you from getting pregnant, but the periods are just not okay. On Implanon, I would normally get my period about every 2/3 months, and when I did, it was HEAVY and lasted for about 2 weeks with seriously painful cramps. It made me gain a lot of weight in the beginning, but these past couple of months, I’ve been losing weight like crazy. I used to always hang out with my friends, but lately, I’ve pushed a lot of people away and have gotten really bad anxiety and don’t feel like myself. I’ve also been having body twitches the past 4 months, and I’ve had 4 periods since the 11th of June, and I don’t feel okay. There’s so much more to say, but the maximum is 1000 words, but please take my word and do not get this. It’s so bad for your body and mental health, I really wish I knew this before getting it."

For Birth Control "I've had my Implanon for about a year now, and I love it. I've had one period that lasted about a week, with very light bleeding. I do, however, get everything that comes with a period: the cramps, mood swings, all the emotions, everything but the bleeding at least once a month, as if I were on my period. Other than that, I have gained weight, but like most people, that's not just because of the birth control."

For Birth Control "I have had it for a few months now and haven't had too many problems. No spotting at all, very light and short periods, although period pain has been a little worse than usual. No increase in appetite and no loss of sex drive. I like that I don't have to worry about it again for three years. My only real issue is I have noticed I'm having a lot more mood swings, though."

For Birth Control "The Implanon worked great for me. Kept my periods regular for about 6 months, then they started slowing down. After the first year, my periods completely stopped! I didn't gain any weight. I get cramps once in a while, but that's about it, and I never once got pregnant on it! I would so recommend this to someone! I love it."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Implanon since January 2012. The first 2 years it was wonderful. No pregnancy, I actually lost weight. I had a monthly 'period' which consisted of minimal cramping and being moody, yet no bleeding. On the 3rd year though, during mid-February, I started having a period. It is now the beginning of April and I have had 4 periods lasting a week each! I cannot deal with having a period after not having one for over 2 years! I love Implanon, but if I'm going to continue having a period every week or two, I might consider something else or replacing it earlier than the 3-year mark if possible."

For Birth Control "I had it since March 2009. I was breastfeeding, and it was great. Until I stopped breastfeeding in June 2010. Since then, I have been on my period. Super bad bleeding with the worst cramps ever or spotting still with cramps. NO SEX drive at all. I'm mad all the time at someone for doing anything. Always feeling sad. Feeling that I'm sick all the time, and my tummy hurts. I'm always sleepy. I HAD great skin, now not so much. I'm getting it out as soon as possible. No more for me."

For Birth Control "I love it. I only have to worry about it once every 3 years. I only get my period every 3 to 4 months with minimal cramping, although it is a heavy flow. My period only lasts 4-5 days. I haven't gained weight. I can't think of a single thing 'wrong' with it."

For Birth Control "If there was an option for zero stars out of ten, it would receive zero. I got this put in my arm about a year and a half ago, and since then, I have put on right around 100 lbs. I never get a period but have the worst cramps I've ever had in my life around every 3 months. I've never had acne, and now I can't get rid of it no matter how much medication I use. I am overly emotional and have the worst mood swings. My best advice: STAY AWAY FROM IMPLANON."

For Birth Control "I had Implanon put in February 2016, and it's now November 2017. The first month on it, my period was pretty normal. After that, it was non-stop spotting for a while. Then it stopped a little after a year of having it, but shortly after that, my periods have been going on every single day, and they are even heavier now! My period has gotten so heavy and painful, and it never stops. I'm losing my mind because of this birth control, and I honestly can't wait to get it taken out."

For Birth Control "I had Implanon inserted in May of 2012. Once it was inserted, I continued to have a period for 6 months non-stop, which caused some other issues. Once that stopped, I had periods for two weeks, and then would be off for two weeks, and then back on. This went on for a year. Now they come and go as they please. One thing that I've had a hard time dealing with, though, is the weight gain. I gained 10 lbs in just one year, and during this second year, I have gained 5 more lbs. I have never in my life had an issue with weight (gaining or losing), but this has been it for me. It has also given me extremely painful periods. It HAS done its job in preventing pregnancy, though! Which I am pleased with!"

For Birth Control "I was put on Implanon in September 2011 after delivering my second daughter in July 2011. I did not have a period for several months after getting it, besides a few days of spotting here and there. Within one month of getting Implanon, I started getting serious headaches, and in February, I began passing out randomly. I had low blood pressure, low heart rate, and was diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebri. I had to get a lumbar puncture to relieve the pressure. A few days later, I had to get a blood patch because I got a spinal headache. I ended up needing a second lumbar puncture in August 2012. In November 2012, I was also diagnosed with PCOS, which caused acne, hair growth, painful periods, and infertility. I was told that Implanon caused these."

For Birth Control "Where do I start? No sex drive, horrible attitude towards EVERYTHING, anxious, horrible cramps. I was on the pill for almost a year, I felt fine, but I wasn't always on time about taking it, so I switched over to the Implanon. For 10 months, I got my period non-stop. For some weeks, it would be a light period, but still a period. Then for another month or so, I would get heavy, heavy periods with cramps that made it so hard to get up from bed. Which I had never experienced!!! It was so hard for me to want to have sex. I don't recommend this AT ALL, and to top it off, my doctor didn't want me to get off it, saying they could just give me ANOTHER HORMONAL PILL to stop the bleeding. HECK NO!!"

For Birth Control "I received the Implanon birth control in October of 2014. I am absolutely terrible at remembering a daily pill, so in that aspect, this birth control is great. I haven't gotten pregnant, and I have unprotected sex (sorry if TMI, but this thing really does work), so for the first few months, this was amazing. Then I started noticing myself become upset incredibly easily, like sobbing over small things. I also noticed I would become angry for no reason, and my boyfriend noticed this also. I bleed randomly (not heavy) and cramped worse than before I had the birth control put in. I've gained a fair amount of weight (15 pounds), and it seems to keep coming. Overall, it's worth trying, but I will not be keeping mine."

For Birth Control "I have read reviews below and noticed most people find those with low rating helpful. We should all remember that this is a birth control method and goes against nature. There will definitely be side effects, and there is nothing that works the same for everyone. We all have different experiences and would like to write some more about the good things. I had mine inserted in March this year and cannot be happier. I have used the pill and the IUD before. While on the pill, I got pregnant. I decided to use the IUD afterward. Took it out because I would bleed heavily for 2 weeks every month. With Implanon, I have not had my periods, no weight gain. Got some cramping and low libido, but I can live with it. Oh, and I am not pregnant. Give it a try."
