For Birth Control "I have had my Implanon since December 2009. I also haven't had my period since December 2009. I love the Implanon, though. It's very convenient, hassle-free, and worry-free! No trying to remember to take a pill every day... Only downfall I've had is that I get cramps when I'm supposed to get my period, but it never comes. Just spotting like once or twice. Overall, I love it and will continue to use this method of birth control."

For Birth Control "I have had the Implanon for three months now, the first month, nothing happened. The second month, I had severe mood swings, 'pretend periods' (acts like I'm about to get it, but nothing), and no sex drive whatsoever. The third month, the mood swings left, 'pretend periods' gone. Sex drive off and on. Now I just got my period, had it for two weeks now. Mild cramping, it's all spotting. I had horrifying, painful periods before that were irregular and horrible. So far, this birth control has been worth it. I recommend it. I don't have a scar, only mild bruising, and I can't lay on my arm or put pressure on it or it'll feel weird or hurt."

For Birth Control "I've gotten this implant about a month ago. OMG, I'd rather just take the pill. I've had irregular bleeding before, and I HATE to have my period in the first place. So when I had my irregular period before, I was a little overweight and had it for three months. So I lost the weight, and everything went back to normal. To go from getting your period and it lasting four days to bleeding four times a month was just ridiculous to me. The cramps, OMG, I could die. I cried every day after I got this implant, and when I say cry, I mean cry. I cried at work, on the train going to work. I cried when I woke up and when I went to sleep. It really made me emotional. Oh, let me not forget, one night I went to sleep, and when I woke up, there was blood everywhere. I would NEVER do this again."

For Birth Control "I had the Implanon inserted 07/23/09, so it's been around 3 months. I have nothing good to say about it. I have terrible acne breakouts, I have had constant bleeding the whole time. I'm cramping nearly every day, I have had nausea, hair loss, mood swings, weight gain, zero sex drive. I am getting out the 30th of September and going back to Yaz."

For Birth Control "I've had Implanon for almost 4 months now. I have every PMS side effect there is to have. I have crazy mood swings, cramps, and I am very irritable. Body aches and migraines, headaches every day. Crying spells and pain in my arm where it was inserted."

For Birth Control "I do not recommend! I have had this implant in for a little over a year, and it's been nothing but a drag for me. It is supposed to stop periods altogether, but that was most definitely not the case for me. When I first got it inserted, it was fine, and I thought it was working. I thought maybe I got lucky. But no... one day I woke up, and BAM, there it was. It lasted for six straight months. Then it quit for about a month with a little spotting in between. Now I am at the point where I have to keep a tampon in all the time because I will have it for about two days and then be off for two days. It's very unexpected and aggravating. Sure is a good birth control, alright. You'll be bleeding/cramping so bad you won't even want to have sex."

For Birth Control "I got the implant about 3 months ago, and I don’t recommend it. I have been on a heavy, painful period for about a month, have lost my sex drive, and have been having bad mood swings for a couple weeks now. The cramps have been horrible too-pain in my back and abdomen. I have also gained 10 pounds somehow. I know it’s the implant because I haven’t felt this way prior to getting it. It has negatively affected my mood, my physical well-being, and my relationship with my partner. I'm going to get it taken out tomorrow and can’t wait to feel back to normal again."

For Birth Control "On one hand, I've found this birth control beautiful. I went on it while I had a boyfriend and was expecting it was something necessary, and even though he left my life, it has come with some interesting quirks. I'm a little conflicted on how I feel they've affected my menstrual cycle. Before any birth control, I would have regular monthly periods. But they were heavy, I had to wear overnight pads for all seven days, changing them every three hours. I used to get crippling cramps on my first day. When I started the implant, they changed. My first period was 4 days and so, so, so much lighter. No pain. But since the second month, I have not had a day without bleeding. Very, very light, barely there. No pain still. So there's my puzzle."

For Birth Control "I wanted to write something here because after reading all the bad reviews, I almost didn't get Implanon. But I am so glad I did. I have had Implanon for four months. The first month, I did have three weeks of spotting, which was rough. But after that, I have only had very minor spotting once a month, like a period. I don't have any of the period pain I used to (headaches, horrible cramps), and I am much less moody as well (I used to burst into tears on the spot). I haven't gained any weight at all, although the doctor did say average weight gain in the first year is one pound. I can handle that after being on Natazia and gaining 30. I love Implanon. It's easy, and I barely have a period at all. Don't shy away because of bad reviews."

For Birth Control "When I first got the implant in, I had spotted bleeding for like 2 weeks straight, and then nothing. I don't get spotting for months at a time or even cramps, every once in a while, I do, but a lot less than I used to. Never had anything else but this, and I'm so glad because with the pill, even 1 day you miss can change everything, and now I don't have to worry. Love it!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Implanon 2 years this month, got it 6 weeks after giving birth. Only reason I haven't had it taken out is because I don't want to get pregnant, and I'm not sure what other birth control would be best for me. I've tried the pills before and immediately broke out in hives, but since being on Implanon, my periods are way heavier. Periods before Implanon were 3-4 days, now it comes and goes when it feels like. Always have random spotting, sometimes for a whole month. My painful cramps turned into contractions. Mood changes every day for no reason, and I have a very, very low sex drive, which was never the case before this. No weight gain, which I was hoping for. Randomly get nauseous. I'm ready to get it taken out, thinking about going on the shot."

For Birth Control "I have had the implant for 3 years and am due to get it taken out next week. While the implant has been effective at stopping pregnancy, I have had a lot of unpleasant side effects. One being weight gain, I have gained around 2.5 stone and always seem bloated. Period-wise, for the first year and a half, I had no periods whatsoever until they came back, and I got very light but painful periods every few months that lasted 2 days each time. Other things I have noticed are I get pain in my breasts occasionally, poor sex drive, bad mood swings, and worsened eczema. I don't plan on getting the implant again due to the side effects, however, it seems to be effective at stopping pregnancy and stopping periods or making them light."

For Birth Control "I had Implanon inserted in March 2010. In five months, I have gained 25 pounds, I am VERY irritable, I had amazing skin, and I am now developing acne. I was recently hospitalized for four days because of severe cramping and bleeding. I rarely sleep a full night because I have so much pain. I have also noticed my fingers getting numb, and I am developing unexplained nerve damage. I have trashed my stomach lining because I was taking so much ibuprofen to control my headaches. My relationship is on the rocks because I haven't had a sex drive since April and haven't had sex in months. I have also been bleeding continuously."

For Birth Control "I was only on this for a month because the symptoms were too much for me. The day right after getting this put in, I was very suicidal (never happened to me before), and my anxiety was through the roof. This calmed down after a few days, but the anxiety still showed up on and off. In addition, I bled every day for the month I had it in (heavy bleeding and cramping). I also noticed my skin acting up. I did not gain weight, nor did this change my appetite, but the bleeding, anxiety, and depression were enough for me to quit. I read some blogs that indicated that some women didn't see a reduction in the symptoms even after a year on the pill. Lastly, my sex drive completely went away, so it almost felt pointless to stay on this."

For Birth Control "The 3 years went by so fast. I loved it so much I just had it taken out and a new one put in. My cycle comes every 3 months and lasts about 7 days, the other months I may cramp a little, but no spotting so far."

For Birth Control "I got my Implanon in May of 2010, and I have called my doctor multiple times to get it taken out. They told me to give it a few more months, and I tried birth control pills with it to regulate. I actually lost weight (appetite) and haven't had headaches, cramping, or loss of sex drive-all of which make me love it. The only problem I have is bleeding. I bleed when I go to the bathroom (sometimes), but I definitely bleed with sex. This does cause problems in my relationship. If it weren't for the bleeding, I would absolutely LOVE this birth control. I have no complaints other than that, and I sure do hope that the bleeding stops."

For Birth Control "I got the Implanon in 2013, I believe, and my experience has been pretty confusing. I mean, it works, you won't get pregnant, but I've had my arm go numb and burn from having it. I don't have a period anymore, which I'm not complaining about, but I still get the cramps, and they are worse than they used to be. I've gained a lot of weight, and considering I have bipolar disorder, my moods did change, but they have gotten worse since I've been on the Implanon. But other than all the complaints I have, it works the way it is supposed to."

For Birth Control "I got Implanon put in my arm after my third child. I had a C-section with my third baby and do not want to get pregnant again. My periods are really light and occasionally I get cramps. I exercise every day but have not lost weight. My appetite has increased, but overall it has been great. I've had it now for almost 5 months, but when the 3 years is up, I will take it out and not replace it."

For Birth Control "I just had my Implanon inserted in March, and since then, I have had one period, and it lasted 2 days. I had previously suffered from severe PMS and had horrible cramps, fatigue, and back aches, but now, I have none of that, probably because I haven't had a period except once. Every now and then, I will get what could be considered a period (dark discharge), but other than that, everything is great. I highly recommend it to anyone young and doesn't want to worry about condoms or pills. It was a great choice."

For Birth Control "Last year (June 2009), at the age of 26, I got my Implanon. My doctor and I discussed my options. Due to the stage I am in of not wanting kids, I had the option of getting the IDU, but he and I found it in the best interest to get the Implanon (my doctor is awesome). I read all the reviews, and I know that everybody is different and there will be different side effects to no side effects. I don't have any cramping, but each month, around the time for my period, my body sends me that signal. My periods went from very light to spotting immediately. Now, the problem is the spotting timing has changed, now more of discharging a brownish color and had more concerns. I contacted my doctor and prescribed medicines for each complaint I had."

For Birth Control "I have about 9 months left out of my three years with Implanon, and I'm glad to see that girls have a lot of good things to say about this method of birth control. Sadly, that is not my case. My first year was okay, my periods were light and sometimes non-existent. Although I did still have the cramps and PMS. As I was coming up on the 2nd year, just two months before, I did have a period that was full of heavy bleeding and painful cramps. This one lasted almost 3 months! I got extremely sick and anemic. Since then, my periods have returned to normal. It is a good way to not get pregnant, and I didn't notice any weight gain."

"The week following the insertion, I had a bruise in my arm, but since then, I have only had positive side effects. Before Implanon, I had a dangerously heavy cycle, drastic mood swings, and severe cramping every month. I have never had a period, mood swing, or cramp while on Implanon. Implanon is more effective than sterilization, yet reversible in 9 days. I would recommend this birth control to anyone who is not planning on having kids in the next 3 years."

For Birth Control "I have had Implanon since June of 2010. So far, I love this method - I get so excited when talking about it. I think most of my friends are tired of feeling my arm. I haven't noticed any severe change in mood or weight, however, there was an increase in acne on my face and on my back (which I've never had). I had an unusually long 12-day period in early July, but haven't had another one since. Occasionally, I feel like I am cramping. For me, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks by far! I can't imagine what I did before getting it."
