For Birth Control "I've had this birth control for 2 years now and want it out so bad! I'm super moody, and my sex drive has gone way down. My boyfriend for 5 years has noticed me not really into it anymore. I got the Implanon when I was 17, and now I'm almost 20. I was very active, so my doctor told me to not worry about a period, it shouldn't come back until I get it out. Wrong! I have been bleeding since the day I got it in. I will get a few months with no period, then maybe spotting for like 4 days. Sometimes I'll bleed for one day. The worst is the long heavy periods. Every 2-3 months, I'll get a period for about 20-25 days. Right now, I'm bleeding, and it's my 22nd day of nonstop. It works for not getting you pregnant though."

For Birth Control "Best decision I ever made regarding birth control. In high school I had the worst time with birth control making me sick, so in 2012 I decided to do some research and got the implant in my arm. It hurt a little for about 1 1/2 weeks, and for the first month, I bled and spotted every day, but since then I have not had any periods at all, have been sexually active, and not gotten pregnant. If I did gain weight, I didn't notice. Also, with having depression, my depression didn't get any worse, which was what I was mainly worried about."

For Birth Control "My experience with the birth control Implanon has been amazing. I first got the implant because my periods were excruciating and super heavy. Well, ever since I got the implant, after one month I had a 3-day normal heavy period. But it was my body still adjusting to the birth control. But the next month, there was a very mild spot one time during the day, and that was it! Ever since then, I haven't had one single period. I feel extremely safe and protected. I decided to wait until about 30 days after being implanted before unprotected sex, just to make sure the implant was doing its job. Because, you know, I didn't know what to truly expect. But it works very, very well! This new birth control should be every woman's route. Good luck. :)"

For Birth Control "I got Implanon as a teenager. After insertion (which hurt like hell), I had constant light spotting for 6 months. When I tried to get it taken out, the doctor couldn't find it. I went in a second time to a different GP, and again he couldn't get it out. In the end, I put up with it for about 2 years and had to go under general anesthetic and have an operation in the hospital to remove it - it was deep in the muscle and curved around itself. I now have a nasty scar as a result of cutting into the arm several times to have it removed. Now, many years later, I have been trying to conceive for over 10 months without success. Whether or not this is related, I don't know - but I wish someone had been there to tell my 17-year-old self to stay well away."

For Birth Control "I had spotting for seven months straight, which started soon after Implanon was inserted. I decided to wait it out, and I haven’t had a period since. This benefit of no periods outweighs the side effects, but I am still trying to figure out if my lack of motivation, loss of memory on how to spell words, and lack of self-worth are because of the implant..."

For Birth Control "Got Implanon in December and had it removed a couple of weeks ago. I'm back on the pill, and my hormones are still fluctuating, so I'm waiting until I'm normal again. HORRIBLE side effects. Do not recommend!! I had it in for about 5 months and got my period twice on it (more like spotting for a week). It gave me insane acne on my face and back, terrible breast pain and swelling, the most extreme mood swings, increased my depression and anxiety x1000, gave me headaches at first, and completely wiped out my sex drive. Had pretty much every side effect except weight gain and never-ending spotting. Removal was horrible, it took 2 incisions to remove the stick from hell!!! PROS: never had to maintain birth control (like pills, NuvaRing) and not pregnant."

For Birth Control "I was first on the pill and could NEVER remember to take it every day, so I was looking up other methods. I was reading reviews about Implanon, and I was scared of getting this. The initial insertion didn't really hurt that bad, only the anesthetic was a little sting. I've had mine in for almost a year, and I LOVE it! I've had spotting here and there, but nothing major at all. I haven't experienced any other side effects. I was worried about weight gain, but haven't gained any! This is the best birth control I think any woman could ever use!"

For Birth Control "I got my Implanon inserted in June 2016, it was not a big deal, as my doctor was skillful. Afterward, it looked like a rather large bruise for ten or so days, but healed neat. It stayed sore for some weeks. I had a hellish first 4 months adjusting: heavier, super-long periods followed by incessant spotting. Hair thinning and loss while body hair increased, acne, too much weight loss, and feeling frequently moody, panicking, or nauseous. Sex drive disappeared. Fed up and miserable, I saw my doc and was advised to wait another few months to see if it settled. It did. My periods have stopped now, and skin and hair are much better (though not completely the same as before). So relieved it's better and that I gave it a bit more time."

For Birth Control "I got the implant exactly 3 months ago. I was on my period when I got the implant. After the implant was in, my period lasted a few days longer than usual with spotting for a few days, but it wasn't bad, and I expected it. I would say my period, with the spotting, lasted a week and a half, but I'm sure that was my body getting used to the hormones. Well, I'm 3 months in, I haven't had a period, which I love. I only spotted for about an hour the first time I missed my period (it sounds crazy, but it's true). I wouldn't even call it spotting, it was so light. I haven't spotted since then. I haven't gained any weight, I lost 4 pounds. I was working out but stopped because I just started school, and I'm working. Don't have the time."

For Birth Control "I've had Implanon in for almost a year. Since I've had it, I haven't gone for more than 2 days without spotting, will have a heavy period for up to 5 weeks, migraines, muscle pains, joint aches, acne, incredible mood swings, will cry for no reason, extreme anxiety where everything around me goes hazy and I feel like I'm moving in slow motion, my breasts constantly ache, and I've gained about 35 pounds. While it's great to not have to worry about taking a pill daily, the side effects aren't worth it."

For Birth Control "Since I've had this inserted, I've had bleeding/spotting for 13 months. When I first had it put in a year and a half ago, I had my period for 6 months straight. It is effective when it comes to avoiding pregnancy."

For Birth Control "I'm getting my Implanon taken out after three years. These three years have been a journey. First year, I had a period or spotting for a month straight! It was miserable, then my period would come and go unexpectedly. Second year, I barely had a period at all! Which I liked, but then again I got worried, but eventually, it came back. Now this year is the same, I would spot every now and then, but never nothing serious. Over the three years, I went from weighing 120 to 141, so yeah, you will gain weight mostly in the first year. But hey, I have some meat on my bones now, so I'm fine with the weight gain. Overall, Implanon is a great birth control. I would recommend it to every woman looking for good birth control."

For Birth Control "I've only had it for 4 months now. It's been stressful not knowing what to expect because no one's experience is the same. I'm not sure if my mood swings are from it or not. Spotting is really frustrating, and right now I'm having extreme bleeding after a month and a half of nothing. I can't afford to see my GP every time I get anxious, and nothing online helps."

For Birth Control "This is my 2nd Implanon, the 1st one I had took a few months for my body to settle. I had a bit of spotting for 5 months, then periods completely stopped. I have had acne and blackheads. I have bloating in my stomach. Weight has been stable, though."

For Birth Control "I've read a lot of reviews on Implanon before I decided to get it, and I was very scared that I would have a bad experience with it. Turned out, I love it!!! It's good and safe. It makes my life a lot easier. I could've given it a 10/10, but I only gave it a 9/10 because I was spotting for 8 weeks until everything started to get into place and my period stopped completely. I got it done on 16th August 2017, it was the 4th day through my period (usually have it for 7 days). I started spotting a little bit of blood from that day. Went to the doctor for more information, and they told me not to worry and to see for 3-6 months. I waited patiently, and eventually, it stopped. Now I got nothing to worry about anymore!"

For Birth Control "I had mine implanted about 2 years ago. The insertion was easy, the only pain was from the numbing needle, which wasn't hardly any pain at all. I don't have periods, just light spotting every now and then. My face does break out now and then, nothing crazy. The only downside is that I have completely lost my libido. I am 30 years old and used to have a high sex drive, and now my sex drive is non-existent. Which is why I am planning to have this removed as soon as possible because I'm tired of living like this."

For Birth Control "I've had mine in since November 2014, and it's due to come out at the end of this year. I've had no complications, not one period since having it implanted, not even spotting, until this morning when I woke up and had bled everywhere. Seems as though mine has run out? If that's even possible? It's been amazing since this morning. Can't fault it."

For Birth Control "I've had the Implanon in since October 07 - brilliant. For the first 6 months, I had bleeding/spotting. For the second 6 months, I got my period for 2-3 days every 2-3 weeks. However, since January 09, no period at all (whoopee!). I actually lost 4-5 pounds after getting it in due to the constant bleeding. My libido has fluctuated a bit every now and then (very, very high just after I got it put in and somewhat lower at the moment). I have several friends who also got it inserted: 3 had similar experiences to me, another had it removed due to anxiety/depression (but bear in mind she was only 16 at the time, which I think would be a bit young to get it!), and another had it removed due to bad acne. Everybody's different, it's worked for me, though."

For Birth Control "Had this put in after my second child, and I love it. I thought it would be terrible getting it put in, but it was a breeze. I've had it for 3 months now and don't have any side effects. For the first 2 months, I did spot every day, but that has gone away now."

For Birth Control "I give it a six because you don't have to worry about it, and it's good for three years, quick and painless procedure, not getting pregnant, it's pretty beneficial for a person with a hectic lifestyle. However, I instantly became depressed more than usual. I can tell I've lost some energy, but nothing drastic. I haven't gained that much weight, but I also haven't been on it more than a few months. I've also been constantly spotting, which doesn't bother me that much because it doesn't get everywhere. I just coexist with the mild blood, I would probably recommend this to another female but just warn her about the crappy mood swings."

For Birth Control "This Implanon has been the worst birth control I have taken. I've had terrible breakouts, nonstop spotting, loss of libido, and it's causing me to get agitated over every little thing. This birth control has caused me to fight with my boyfriend every single day and has slowly been pushing us apart. I'm ready to get this thing the hell out of me."

For Birth Control "I had the Implanon inserted in 2010 when I was 17 years old. Insertion procedure fine. I experienced a little spotting for the first 6 weeks, which was normal. After this, I had no periods and virtually no side effects for 3 years. I loved this contraception so much that I immediately put a second one in when my 3 years were up. I kept the second Implanon in for 2 years and decided to take it out as I was beginning to get unpredictable bleeding (which could last for a couple of weeks) and my mood became low. I felt this was my body telling me it had had enough. However, overall I am delighted with my experience on the Implanon. For 5 years, I didn't need to worry about pregnancy or periods! I have also recommended it to many of my friends."

For Birth Control "I've had Implanon since June, and it's now February. The first month I had it, I didn't have a period, after that, I had 2 months of heavy periods lasting about 2 weeks, then I would lightly spot almost every single day without any real periods in between. But for the past 2 months, I've had absolutely no bleeding. Which is a blessing and a curse because I've been having sex without condoms, and I'm paranoid. But I'm hoping this is normal and isn't because of pregnancy. If I am pregnant, I will be making another review, lol. I am 20 & had no real side effects aside from the constant spotting at one point. Doctors said it was because of a thin endometrial lining caused by the BC, and if I constantly bleed again, they're removing it. But I like it, lol."

For Birth Control "I'm using it since August 2016. First few months, no period. Then, on and off spotting. Starting September 2017, having daily spotting for a month. Gap of 2 days, then another month of period/bleeding. Gap of 2 days, then period again... till now, November 2017. Add on menstrual cramps. I refused to consume any extra medication through my body. This is overwhelming enough."

For Birth Control "I chose this method after my body rejected 3 IUDs. I had never had a baby, but I wanted a long-term and effective method of birth control. I found this to be the best fit for me. I had great success with Depo in the past. I was on it for nearly ten years with only minimal spotting. When I did spot, I took estrogen supplements and stopped spotting in a couple of days. It didn't hurt at all when I got it. It hasn't given me any problems the whole time I had it. My only concern is what will happen when I get it taken out."
