For Birth Control "I've had the implant since Feb 2016. Before that, I got the depo shots and decided to switch because I did not like the depo. I have been VERY impressed with the implant and how it has been for me. I spotted one time in 2016, and it was about a month after I got the implant. I think it was just because my body was trying to get used to the hormones. I cramped for a week and only bled for a few days. As of today (Mar 2017), I was cramping all day, lo and behold, I started my period. Now, I am not complaining considering I haven't had one for over a year, but I am hoping this will be just like last time! I do recommend it!"

For Birth Control "I've been on a number of birth controls for the past 10 years, and this is by far the best. Not perfect, but the best yet. I have 4 kids, my last 2 were both birth control babies! I decided to try this. Insertion wasn't what I expected, I was nervous for nothing! I bled for the first month, but after that, I had very light periods, and now I have none at all. I get cramps as if I am about to, but either don't or just get very small spotting. No issues so far and no pregnancies. No weight gain, no nausea, no headaches, and no other side effects. Highly recommended for at least a try!"

For Birth Control "This November 2015, I will have had Implanon for 3 years. The only thing I guess I could say that was bad was that I had a period for maybe most 2 weeks after a year of having it. After that, I haven't had any period since. I get cramps rarely, no spotting. Very effective against pregnancy, very effective for stopping implantation if anyone was wondering because I know I was when I got it. I plan to get Implanon again when it's time to remove it. I think I've had an overall positive experience, and I hope the second time around is good as well!"

For Birth Control "I got this birth control in July 2012, and I bled for about 3 months straight, with light and heavy bleeding. Then, after that, I never got another period until now, it's getting near the end of the 3rd year, and I'm starting to spot lightly. I don't know if this is normal, and I can't find the answer anywhere. I would have to say that my fiancé and I love it, just not the prolonged bleeding in the beginning. I would recommend this birth control to anyone who may forget to take the pill."

For Birth Control "I had my implant inserted in December 2014 and am now seriously considering having it removed after less than a year. The first 3 months were okay, only 2 regular periods with occasional light spotting in between. Well, that ended in a big ole hurry. I now have constant, heavy spotting (including during my wedding in April, yes, it was so much fun to make my maid of honor hold my dress while I REPEATEDLY changed my tampon, AT. MY. WEDDING.), and my cystic bacne is out of control. I've now been on my period for almost 2 straight months, and needless to say, I'm sick of it. I've also gained 15ish pounds. We don't want kids yet, so it's great that it works for pregnancy prevention, but I'm not sure it's worth all the extra side effects."

For Birth Control "I've had Implanon now for almost 5 years. I have gotten it changed out at my 3-year mark. The insertion process is similar to an IV getting put in. The second time, a piece of cake; a pinch. After the insertion, the first time, it was swollen and sore for 2 weeks, but that's normal; your body needs to get used to it. The second time, it healed in a week. It was inserted in the exact same spot one was taken out from. Since being on this, the first year, periods were sporadic but normal, then they waned off; the last few months before I changed my implant, I had light spotting for a few days, and then after I changed it, no periods at all. I have had no pregnancies, mood swings, or weight gain. No hormonal changes via sex drive or breakouts. I love it."

For Birth Control "I'm using it since August 2016. First few months, no period. Then, on and off spotting. Starting September 2017, having daily spotting for a month. Gap of 2 days, then another month of period/bleeding. Gap of 2 days, then period again... till now, November 2017. Add on menstrual cramps. I refused to consume any extra medication through my body. This is overwhelming enough."

For Birth Control "It has done its job; I am not pregnant. I have had it since Jan of 2012, and my periods have been sporadic. The first year, I spotted once every few months. Now, into my second year of having it, the spotting/light period will last months at a time. I have been bleeding with no breaks since May. After my concern with the thought of having to go back to the dreaded routine of trying to remember taking a daily birth control pill wore off, I remembered the reason why I got the Implanon: to enjoy intimacy with my boyfriend without pregnancy. This doesn't happen with me bleeding more days out of the year than I am not. The only complaint that I have is the spotting; I've had no weight gain, no increase in acne, no mood swings, etc."

For Birth Control "Worst birth control I have been on. I got it 1 and 1/2 yrs ago. The first 7 months was fine, then I started bleeding randomly. I bleed on average 25 days out of a month (most days straight was 22). Those 6 days I don't are mixed in the middle, mostly two days at a time, some even include spotting, which I don't refer to as bleeding anymore. I live with a tampon in! Had my hormones and thyroid checked to see if that was the culprit and had a transvaginal ultrasound, which showed I had a cyst on my left ovary. It definitely will keep you from getting pregnant due to the constant bleeding. I'm getting mine out at 10:20 tomorrow, and I can't wait (have thought about cutting it out myself). I don't want to wait 12 hours!"

For Birth Control "So I got the Implanon inserted 2 years ago. In the last 2 years, I have gained about 20 kgs, lost my sex drive, my emotions have been up and down like a yo-yo-just cry, then want to punch something, then have no idea what I was even sad/angry about. I would get my period for 2 weeks, then another 3 weeks of spotting, then it finishes, then 1 week later I start PMSing again. But I didn't get pregnant! I have just had it taken out 1 year early as I can't deal with the side effects anymore. I guess there are different contraceptives that work for different people, but I must say this one didn't go well for me."

For Birth Control "I've had Implanon in for nearly 1 year. Before having it inserted, my periods were like clockwork and on the lightish side. I had it inserted on the 2nd day of my cycle, and that period lasted longer than usual, but other than duration, it was as normal. I found I was extremely emotional for the first month. My breasts get tender sometimes, and I spot occasionally, but it's nothing more than a bit of 'pink' on the paper when I go to the toilet. I don't even wear a liner. I've only had 1 period the entire time. Except about a week ago, the heaviest period of my life started! I've passed clots the size of golf balls! If it continues, I may have to have it removed. It's weird that this is happening now after being so good for nearly a year."

For Birth Control "Experienced bleeding and spotting for a month and a half, but totally worth it because now I have no periods. Though I do have mild PMS (sore breasts, bloating). Nothing a little exercise, chocolate pretzels, and wine can't take care of...my favorite birth control so far!"

For Birth Control "I absolutely love this form of birth control. It is so easy, and I've had pretty much no side effects. I haven't had any periods in the 2 years I've been on it, and only the rare light spotting (maybe 5-6 days in 2 years). Will be going in to have another one placed shortly. Highly recommend."

For Birth Control "I got Implanon about 4 months ago and have not been off my period/spotting since. That alone is very frustrating, but I try to work around it when it comes to my sex life. I have not gotten pregnant, so it is doing its job, but along with the spotting. I also get frequent headaches."

For Birth Control "I've had mine since April 2015, it's now October 2015, and one month after having Implanon inserted, I have been bleeding ever since. Seven months of periods with only a two-week break from it! It's ridiculous! I travel for work, it's so freaking annoying to have to worry about what plane seats are going to look like! I had this inserted purely for the fact I was over period pain (my family has bad ovaries, so period pain is 1000 times worse). I was aware there would be spotting and occasionally a period, but jeez, seven months?? It's a really good method of birth control, you can't get pregnant. Why? Because you bleed too much, so sex is out of the question."

For Birth Control "I got my Implanon in January 2010. I'm now nearing the 6-month mark, and I couldn't be happier. When I first got it inserted, I was extremely moody for at least two weeks, and I got my period every 2 weeks, and then that turned into every 3 weeks, and now it's almost as if it's stopped completely. The past month, I have had 2 half days of spotting and moderate cramps, but that is it. I sometimes get moody, but that's about it! I lost weight, about 5 kg, and I find it has had a big effect on my appetite and my needing to snack. There's been no real effect on my skin, and my hair is in its normal condition. It's doing its job, and I hope that my period just disappears completely!"

For Birth Control "I have been on Implanon for about 2 years now, going on three. I'm due to get it out in August. I have experienced a lot of spotting in the beginning, and now I seem to have a period regularly. I also got one negative side effect: I gained over 40 pounds since I got the Implanon. I also have mood swings and get really emotional and cry a lot. I wanted to take it out a while ago because of the weight gain, but that was the only thing keeping me from getting pregnant. I'm scared to switch to the pill when my 3 years are up because I'm afraid I'll get pregnant really easily."

For Birth Control "I've had my Implanon in for about 3 months now, and I really like it so far. I've had no weight gain that wasn't my own fault, I'm not irritable, I spot from time to time, but nothing major. Before this, I had been on Depo for about 2 years, and I did really well with that one also. I would suggest that you try Depo before you get the insert because they have similar side effects. If you do well with Depo, you will do well with the insert."

For Birth Control "I just had my Implanon removed today after having it for a little over a year and a half. The ONLY good thing about the Implanon was the convenience of it; I never had to worry about taking a pill or constantly refilling a prescription. HOWEVER, the Implanon made me more moody, emotional, depressed, and anxiety-ridden. I spotted for 6 months straight after I had it put in and then would randomly get my period. I gained 25 lbs. The only good thing about Implanon was peace of mind. But the side effects were not worth it."

For Birth Control "I've had the implant for 9 months, almost to the day, after switching over from the pill, which I had taken for several years. I took the pill for three months back-to-back as recommended by my doctor when I first had the implant put in and only had a light period (but heavy cramping) in the week I came off the pill. Since then, until now, I haven't had any bleeding, spotting, or cramping. 2 days ago, I started experiencing sharp stabbing cramps and today have spotted a little. I really hope this doesn't continue/that it doesn't develop into bleeding half the month like it has for other people because up until now this has been amazing. If this continues though, I'll probably go to my GP and get it removed."

For Birth Control "Just got my Implanon/Nexplanon replaced again, love it, going on year 7 with it continuously! Had it for a full 6 years now, got it when I was 16 and have had it in since. I have had no noticeable side effects like weight gain and acne. The only side effect I experienced is that my period stopped, other than some light spotting once or twice in 6 years. I would highly recommend it because there's nothing easier and less painful it seems than the implant, from my end, there's nothing to lose."

For Birth Control "I am on my 3rd Implanon since I had my daughter 8 years ago. I have random spotting and a very light period every 6 months or so. After about 2 years of having the Implanon in, I have heavier, more frequent periods. My doctor removes it when I start having issues and puts in a new one. I am currently about due to have my 3rd one taken out. Implanon is definitely the best option for me!"

For Birth Control "The worst BC ever. Yes, it's effective, but since I've had enough of it. I've had headaches, body aches, and serious weight gain. Was always 160, now I'm 217, finally getting it taken out after research and reading other reviews. Also, cramping in between periods. Spotting and heavy periods! Worst BC ever."

For Birth Control "This was my last resort as the pill I was on to manage endometriosis is out of stock Australia wide. I would never recommend this product to anyone with any mental health concerns. I have coped fine for the entire pandemic, and panic attacks/severe anxiety were well in my past until Implanon. A week after insertion, my moods steadily declined. Crying every day, invasive suicidal thoughts, and it built to extreme anxiety and panic attacks daily. I struggled on thinking it would get better, but it didn’t. I had terrible cramping for 30 days and triple the length of my period than usual, with spotting between. Nausea, lethargy, and generally feeling like I was not in my body. Do your research, and if you have any history with depression or anxiety, be very, very cautious with this device. I don’t want anyone to feel the way I did for two months. I had it removed after 8 weeks."

For Birth Control "I've only had the implant for a little over a month. I got it June the 6th. Since then I've bled for 24 days on end. Light spotting, which I hate. Also, my skin has begun to break out as well. Not really big bumps, but little annoying ones that keep popping up each day. Makes me want to go see my dermatologist again. I've also had mood swings as well, which I already suffered from. I think it's getting worse too. No weight gain. I work out pretty regularly. I'm going to try it for just one more month, and if these side effects don't stop or at least get better, I will have it removed. The only real plus is that I haven't gotten pregnant and I have sex pretty often. So I guess it's serving its only real purpose."
