For Birth Control "I've had mine in since November 2014, and it's due to come out at the end of this year. I've had no complications, not one period since having it implanted, not even spotting, until this morning when I woke up and had bled everywhere. Seems as though mine has run out? If that's even possible? It's been amazing since this morning. Can't fault it."

For Birth Control "I've had the Implanon in since October 07 - brilliant. For the first 6 months, I had bleeding/spotting. For the second 6 months, I got my period for 2-3 days every 2-3 weeks. However, since January 09, no period at all (whoopee!). I actually lost 4-5 pounds after getting it in due to the constant bleeding. My libido has fluctuated a bit every now and then (very, very high just after I got it put in and somewhat lower at the moment). I have several friends who also got it inserted: 3 had similar experiences to me, another had it removed due to anxiety/depression (but bear in mind she was only 16 at the time, which I think would be a bit young to get it!), and another had it removed due to bad acne. Everybody's different, it's worked for me, though."

For Birth Control "I've had the Implanon for about six months now, and I love it. The only thing that is, is that I get my period every other month, but once I do get it, it happens for a week and goes away like normal, but then sometimes I will have a second period 3-4 days later. I was told to expect anything, but I wasn't expecting this. My cramps aren't bad at all, but the bleeding time can get annoying."

For Birth Control "This birth control has been placed in my arm for about 2 months, and I have on-and-off bleeding. I also gained lower back pain. And worst of all, I am depressed now and always hungry. I feel pregnant. And I'm not. It's a horrible birth control. I gained 20 lbs in just about a month and a half."

For Birth Control "I've had Implanon for a little over a year. It's been pure hell. I have gained 60 pounds, and nothing I do helps me lose weight. My depression is extremely bad from the hormones. (I had depression before, but it's 10 times worse). For the first four months, I was bleeding, with a 2-3 day break from bleeding. My periods are now about 9 days long. I have irregular periods, so it goes from period with 3 weeks off to period with one week off. It's just all over the place, with extremely painful cramps. I'm getting it removed tomorrow, thank God. I'm terrified of hormonal birth control now, this being my first one that releases hormones. While I have had a horrible experience, I hope that others do not. It might work for you, it might not."

For Birth Control "Got mine inserted on December 31, 08. Have had problems since. I have a headache every other day. I will spot for four days, then a period for 20 days. This has been going on since I got it. The only good thing about it is I don't have to worry about taking the pill. I cry for no reason, and mood swings are crazy. I barely have a sex drive. I cannot take the bleeding, headache, and mood swings."

For Birth Control "This is my 2nd Implanon, which I had inserted within 6 weeks of removing the 1st. My period completely stopped, and I didn't experience any other side effects (other than my weight fluctuating by 5 kg) while I had the first one in, but this time was the complete opposite! I started getting my period every second week (which is much darker and more potent), and now I am just constantly bleeding... small amounts, but CONSTANT small amounts... I feel like a leaking faucet... and I always have cramps and intense cravings... I originally started the Implanon so I could have spontaneous sex with my partner and not worry about getting pregnant, but now I can't even have pre-planned sex!!!! I cannot wait to have it removed."

For Birth Control "I had Implanon put in nearly two months ago; was period-free for two weeks, then have been bleeding ever since. I was told to expect unpredictable and irregular bleeding, but it's been the opposite; just constant and annoying. My sex drive is fine, but as a single person, it makes it rather difficult to meet people when you're literally bleeding all the time! Went back to the doctor who has prescribed me Levelin on top to level out the bleeding, which sort of defeated the purpose of getting the Implanon in the first place so I wouldn't have to take the pill. The reason I've given it 3 stars is that despite the cost for pads, tampons, and additional medications, it's far less than that of having a baby, which it has been effective in preventing!"

For Birth Control "I have had a great experience with this birth control compared to other alternatives, including progesterone and estrogen-only BC pills. Insertion was painless and left no scar. I did begin bleeding 2 weeks after and was pretty much constantly bleeding for about 4 months, but it gradually began to taper off, and now I am experiencing more frequent periods but with less volume. There are many complaints about this side effect, which initially turned me off, but this is a natural reaction that requires some patience. I would take a little blood compared to migraines, risk of blood clots, hormonal imbalances, or an unplanned pregnancy, which are more common with other BC options. I have also experienced decreased anxiety and more regular moods."

For Birth Control "I am on my second Implanon. I find I rarely have periods for the first 1.5 years (bliss), and after that, light bleeding seems to be occurring every fortnight, which was annoying. However, 1.5 years perfectly fine, and after the first one, at about 2 years, I had it replaced, and all was fine again. I put on no weight (if anything, I find I am probably fitter while on it, but that's just lifestyle). I did put on weight on Depo the one time I tried it. It doesn't react badly with everyone - I was back in the gym within the week doing light arm stuff until the bruising went away with no ill effects. Issues with this could be doctor problems, not implant problems!! I have loved it. No more forgetting to take the pill and being worried."

For Birth Control "I was initially excited about getting this implanted because I'm terrible with remembering things. Let alone a pill. However, I haven't really stopped bleeding. I got it in March, bled for 2 months, stopped bleeding for a month, then continued bleeding for about 4 months (too light for a pad but too heavy for a panty liner). Next time I stopped, it was for about two weeks. It's January now, and I'm still going. I can see the implant bulging through my skin, and it's uncomfortable to hold things that are on the heavier side. I definitely would not recommend this one, ladies."

For Birth Control "Got the implant about in the last week of April 2016. Today is June 28. I got the implant inserted a couple of days after my period ended, then I got my period in mid-May 2016. It lasted for 2 weeks, light bleeding (usually my period without birth control lasts 1 week and has heavy bleeding). It comes back a couple of days later, and I haven't stopped bleeding, and it's been over a month now but not heavy, just light bleeding since then. I know it says it takes a while for your body to get in the rhythm of the birth control, like a couple of months or so, but if I get to August and it still doesn't regulate my period, there really isn't any point in me having it if I'm going to be bleeding all the time. There is no way I can get pregnant if I'm going to keep bleeding months on end."

For Birth Control "I don't know what's worse: the bleeding for 6 months straight, or the horrible depression, anxiety, and mood swings. I thought I was crazy, luckily, my friend and I both got it together and experienced the exact same side effects. So, we both knew it was the Implanon. The worst mental breakdown of my life. My hormones finally leveled out, and I feel like myself again! It took 7 months of mood swings and bleeding nonstop. But I'm starting to feel normal again. I haven't removed it because they keep telling me once your hormones stabilize, I'll be fine, so I toughed it out. And I feel 100% better. I just hope it stays this way."

For Birth Control "I had Implanon put in October, and I've been on my period every day since then up until earlier this month. My doctor told me I could expect some irregular periods, but didn't think that meant I would bleed for a straight 7 months. It wasn't awful, no cramping or heavy bleeding. Just an annoyance more than anything. I've been off my period for a couple of weeks now and am hoping it stays like this for the rest of the time I'm on this."

For Birth Control "Only giving it a 3 because I didn't get pregnant on it. Otherwise, it hurt like crazy to put in, bled nonstop for the first year and a half (seriously). I gained 50 pounds. Couldn't lose weight even on a strict diet and exercise. I 100% lost my sex drive. It would hurt where the implant was. Had acne in places I didn't know you could get it. Very expensive to get removed without insurance. Got it removed a week and a half ago, and worst pain and discomfort during removal, and I'm STILL bruised. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy."

For Birth Control "I had the Implanon inserted in 2010 when I was 17 years old. Insertion procedure fine. I experienced a little spotting for the first 6 weeks, which was normal. After this, I had no periods and virtually no side effects for 3 years. I loved this contraception so much that I immediately put a second one in when my 3 years were up. I kept the second Implanon in for 2 years and decided to take it out as I was beginning to get unpredictable bleeding (which could last for a couple of weeks) and my mood became low. I felt this was my body telling me it had had enough. However, overall I am delighted with my experience on the Implanon. For 5 years, I didn't need to worry about pregnancy or periods! I have also recommended it to many of my friends."

For Birth Control "I got this in November of 2008. My doctor said that everyone is different, some people bleed and some don't. I bled for about 4 months, off and on. It is now April 2009, and I couldn't even tell you the last time I bled or had a period. I love it. I don't have to think about taking a pill every day. This works for me."

For Birth Control "Had the Implanon for almost five years, I'm finally going to get it removed. The bleeding has gotten worse. Sometimes I bleed for a whole month, and I have picked up so much weight, and these mood swings. I would rather take a chance with a condom or pill and call it a day. I haven't gotten pregnant, though."

For Birth Control "I had the Implanon put in 6 months after I gave birth. It was amazing for the first 2 and a half years. Months before the Implanon expired, I had to get it removed since I started getting my period nonstop. It lasted about 2-3 months and that is when I decided to get it removed. My emotions were everywhere! I would go from sad to angry and then happy. I would get horrible headaches and cramps, not to mention nausea and lightheadedness. After getting it removed, I decided to get a new one in, but it hasn't worked so far. I got my new one in October and it is January, and I have still been bleeding EVERY DAY! I had enough and called to have this removed. There are too many side effects. I do not recommend it!"

For Birth Control "I'm on my second bar now, the Implanon NXT. The first time I had it inserted, I bled a lot for 3 months and have not had a period since. I've also lost weight (54 kg down to 47 kg over the years) and no other side effects. Except once in a while I'll get VERY cranky for a few days - worth it though."

For Birth Control "This is my second Implanon. Would not recommend at all. The first one was okay for the first 2 years until I started bleeding, which never stopped. When I woke in the morning, I would stand up and be absolutely covered in blood, it was that bad. I lost 2 stone in weight, my mood swings were all over the place, and it affected my relationship. I was advised to have that one removed and another one inserted, which I did. I'm into the second year now, and it's starting all over again! The only good thing about this is the reliability that you're not going to get pregnant if there's ever a chance that you can have a quick fumble in between periods! It gets me so down, I can be off in the morning and on again at night. So frustrating."

For Birth Control "I’m 18 and have had my Implanon for a year and a half. I have not gotten pregnant or had the burden of taking a pill every day, but since I’ve had it inserted, I have gained about 15 lbs and developed really bad acne on my face and body. I also have only had 2 periods. After the first month of having it, I bled nonstop. I’m having mine removed this week."

For Birth Control "Had the Implanon for 5 months. What I experienced was bleeding every day and that I had to wear a tampon every day for 5 months. I didn't even know when I had my period because it was like I had my period every day. Makes your face break out, weight gain, and my sex drive disappeared. If I would have read these reviews, I never would have gotten it. The removal procedure was also extremely painful. I would not recommend anyone taking this, as there are much better ways. It is not worth it at all."

For Birth Control "I've been on a number of birth controls for the past 10 years, and this is by far the best. Not perfect, but the best yet. I have 4 kids, my last 2 were both birth control babies! I decided to try this. Insertion wasn't what I expected, I was nervous for nothing! I bled for the first month, but after that, I had very light periods, and now I have none at all. I get cramps as if I am about to, but either don't or just get very small spotting. No issues so far and no pregnancies. No weight gain, no nausea, no headaches, and no other side effects. Highly recommended for at least a try!"

For Birth Control "For the first 3 months, everything was dandy until I found out that in those 3 months, I got pregnant. I got this to prevent anything like that from happening, however, my nurse didn't inform me that certain pills can reduce its efficiency. I ended up having a miscarriage. So I put that failure down to lack of knowledge. As time went on, I had 2 months of no period, then an entire month of bleeding. I've been getting spots and hot flushes caused by this, not to mention I've suffered from severe depression and anxiety caused by the Implanon, which caused me to stop eating because I had constant knots in my stomach, and despite this no eating, I've gone up 3 dress sizes! I suggest getting the 3-month jab and seeing your reaction, it may not be horrible for everyone."
