For Birth Control "I'm not sure if I've had the implant for 3 or 4 years now, and I never realized a lot of my issues were caused by this. I have been dealing with irregular bleeding, at one point, I bled heavily for 4 months straight, with maybe 3-4 days that I thought it had stopped. I have no motivation or drive to do anything, and I have also struggled with increased anxiety, especially social anxiety, which I never struggled with before. I have deep depression and feelings of unworthiness, like I'm just a waste of space and a sorry excuse for a person. I see that a lot of other people have had depression increase or develop after they got the implant as well. I also have migraines pretty regularly and just feel sluggish. I was honestly devastated that I was feeling and going through all these things, thinking that even being drug-free, I'd never find happiness again, but I genuinely think that this BC is the root cause of all my struggles, and I can't wait to get it taken out!"

For Birth Control "I got this about 6 or 7 months ago, and they did not tell me about any mental side effects. I was aware of the bleeding situation, but I never stop, it'll go from light to heavy out of nowhere. I am always having mood swings and angry over the littlest things in the world with my now ex. I feel like I'm going crazy with this thing, and I realized it's from it because of all the other reviews. I have become highly depressed as well, more suicidal thoughts have been coming through my mind. I finally decided this is what is causing my wreck of behavior, and I am getting it taken out. I do not wish for anyone to go through what I am going through because of this stupid implant. I'm horrified I ruined my shape and my loving self."

For Birth Control "My doctor explained everything, and I read a brochure before receiving the implant. It's a personal decision I made, and when going into it, I knew that every woman reacts to it physically and mentally differently! I wish there was a way they could tell you how your body would react to it beforehand, but they can't, lol! I recommend giving it a try, but it's not for me. I had it removed 6 months in. The number one reason why was because I bled since the day I got it put in, and that is just NO way to live. I had happy moments and really angry moments on it. I started getting acne on my face, which I'm not used to, my anxiety was off the roof, and I gained at least 15 pounds, which I didn't need considering I just had a baby at the time!"

For Birth Control "Had mine now for about a year and a bit, and now my periods are regularly irregular. Meaning 2 weeks on and then 3 weeks off, with a random amount of time in the middle without my period (2-4 days usually). For the first week, I am quite heavy, then the second is always a mystery and changes all the time. Gained 11 kg and cannot lose the weight and am having huge self-esteem issues. My breasts are aching for weeks leading up to the weeks of my period. Wanted to get it out, but thought I would push through it. At least I'm not pregnant, I guess, hmmm."

For Birth Control "Best decision I ever made regarding birth control. In high school I had the worst time with birth control making me sick, so in 2012 I decided to do some research and got the implant in my arm. It hurt a little for about 1 1/2 weeks, and for the first month, I bled and spotted every day, but since then I have not had any periods at all, have been sexually active, and not gotten pregnant. If I did gain weight, I didn't notice. Also, with having depression, my depression didn't get any worse, which was what I was mainly worried about."

For Birth Control "I've had the Implanon for 3 months! The first month, I was bleeding for 3 weeks, then, after the 3 weeks, I had brown discharge for a week! Well, everything went away for a week, then I was bleeding again for another 2 weeks! Now, in the 3rd month, I am just angry all the time. I'm depressed, like for no reason, I want to cry. I never want to eat, ever, which is not normal for me. I don't want to have sex, ever, which isn't normal. My head hurts all day! My face is breaking out so bad. I'm getting this out Monday. I'll never use birth control. I'm not going to put this stuff in my body ever again, no form of birth control! I've never felt so sick in my life. It's really affecting my daily life and not good for my relationship with my husband- just overall, the worst birth control ever."

For Birth Control "I am 30. My usual period prior to Implanon was like clockwork. I haven't gotten pregnant since the insertion. But I haven't stopped bleeding much! I stop bleeding one week each month. My husband and I have sex during the no-bleed week. So is it the Implanon's effectiveness? Or that my husband and I are rarely having sex due to constant bleeding and my loss of sex drive? Since the insertion, I’m emotional, sensitive, irritable, anxious, and depressed - a constant state of PMS. I have gained weight, 6 kg. The side effects are outweighing it for me, and 11 months on, I’m considering other options. I’m happy I tried it, such a high efficacy rating and no user error. It's worth a try, and if it works for you, great! But beware it might not too."

For Birth Control "I've been reading a lot of bad reviews on the Implanon and thought I'd share my good experience with this contraception. I've had the Implanon 3 times, which means over 9 years, and I have had no issues with it. Sometimes I will get light bleeding for a month or so, which isn't as bad as it seems. I feel great on it, no mood swings and no weight gain caused by having the Implanon in my arm, only due to age and lifestyle choices. Overall, this is a great contraception for me, I would recommend people trying it, and if you feel as though it doesn't work for you, then take it out (quick and easy). The only thing I wonder about is trying to conceive after having it out, but that's something to think about later."

For Birth Control "I had Depo Provera for 3 years, which I did love and never had a period. After a while, I started to lose my sex drive. My friend recommended Implanon, so I decided to try it out. The numbing shot was the worst part, and it was only a cold sensation. While inserting the device, the doctor commented, 'Your skin is tight, you may feel pressure.' I did not feel a THING! The next day, it was a little tender but not bad, did have some itching, but that is normal for anything healing, had a small bruise a few days, very light bleeding for about a week, still have no period, and increased sex drive. There is now a small scar, but it is nothing noticeable. I will definitely be getting another reinserted once this one's 3 years is up. I have had it since Oct '12."

For Birth Control "I had Implanon inserted 4 months ago after my son was born. Since then, I have gained 15 additional pounds to the weight I had gained due to pregnancy. I have had a migraine for the past 4 days that not even migraine medicine and sleep can't take away. My acne is terrible since I got this birth control. I have been bleeding non-stop for the past 4 months. My hair is falling out. It is causing major mood swings. It is making me a very angry person, which I am not. Overall, I just feel unhealthy due to the Implanon. Every possible side effect that any Implanon user could experience, I am experiencing."

For Birth Control "I have had Implanon in for about a month, I enjoy it because I don't have to remember to protect myself with the pill. However, I have been bleeding since it was put in, not heavy bleeding, just annoyed with having to wear a tampon every day. BUT I have 3 kids and cannot afford another! I have not gained any weight, but I also exercise 4 to 5 times a week! It's a great birth control so far! I definitely recommend it to women who already have kids (life gets hectic and you tend to forget to take pills, etc.)."

For Birth Control "I had this removed yesterday morning, and within 24 hours, my sex drive kicked back in again. Funny that. This thing works effectively as birth control because you probably won't want your partner to touch you. Yep, here are 10 things I won't miss by having a stick owned by one of the world's largest pharmaceutical corporations in my arm: 1. Headaches. 2. Bleeding. Every. Day. 3. No normal period. See point 2. 4. No sex drive. 5. Weight gain. 6. Mood swings that made me feel insane. 7. Sensitivity to the stupidest things. 8. Lower bone density and higher risk of osteoporosis. See 2007 study. 9. Uncharted, unknown long-term effects. 10. Having a stick that might break through my skin when grabbed accidentally. Satisfaction: never again."

For Birth Control "I have been on Implanon for almost two years now, I was put on it after I had my daughter. My experience hasn't been great, my periods the first year started with a long period that I had for a month straight, then no period for a year. But now, going into my second year, I have had a period every other week, and I am currently on a three-week stretch of continued bleeding. I feel exhausted all the time. I have also experienced weight gain, and it's been even harder to lose the weight, which has affected my moods."

For Birth Control "I received the Implanon birth control in October of 2014. I am absolutely terrible at remembering a daily pill, so in that aspect, this birth control is great. I haven't gotten pregnant, and I have unprotected sex (sorry if TMI, but this thing really does work), so for the first few months, this was amazing. Then I started noticing myself become upset incredibly easily, like sobbing over small things. I also noticed I would become angry for no reason, and my boyfriend noticed this also. I bleed randomly (not heavy) and cramped worse than before I had the birth control put in. I've gained a fair amount of weight (15 pounds), and it seems to keep coming. Overall, it's worth trying, but I will not be keeping mine."

For Birth Control "Bleeding terrible!!! I got mine in June 2014 and left it in for the 3 years. I don't know why I kept it in. It was awful!!!!! Did I get pregnant? No. Did I ever stop bleeding? Rarely. On average, my period/bleeding lasted (I tracked it) 23 days a month. I was anxious, hungry, and sluggish, just not myself. I feel better since having it removed, and I have a regular period. This contraception is awful. My advice: stay away from it."

For Birth Control "Mother of 5 at 24 and was not planning on having any more kids, so I got the Implanon put in before I got discharged from the hospital after the birth of my 5th child. It's only been 3 months and I have gained 4 kilos. Can't seem to manage my appetite, and I'm always moody. To top it all off, I bleed constantly. I get my period twice in one month. Definitely going to get it removed."

For Birth Control "Worked the way it should at first, then I had my period every day for months. The doctor told me to 'keep waiting,' so I dealt with that for so long before I went to a different doctor to get it taken out. It was effective, but I was bleeding every day for 6 months, and they didn't want me to take it out. I no longer go to that doctor. Also, it cost 600 dollars, and I was told my insurance would cover it, it did not. Terrible, frustrating experience. Left 2 dark scars as well."

For Birth Control "Well, I guess overall it accomplished the goal of not getting pregnant. But I have been bleeding for 80% of 14 months!!! It ranges from 'oh my god! I need a transfusion' to 'damnit, more clothes ruined.' Mood is slingshotting, and I'm completely over this entire thing. I just removed it two days ago and am bleeding through super plus tampons in less than an hour. Not worth it."

For Birth Control "I have had the Implanon for about a month now. The insertion didn't hurt, and it was free with my insurance. I have actually had an increase in my sex drive, and my migraine headaches (which I was getting at least once a week) have now greatly reduced. I have some light bleeding, but I was warned of this before I got it inserted, and your doctor will inform you of side effects before you get it, so you can't really get angry when it happens. I am a busy person, and I chose this birth control because it suits my lifestyle. Overall, I love it, and would highly recommend it to others."

For Birth Control "I've only had it for 4 months now. It's been stressful not knowing what to expect because no one's experience is the same. I'm not sure if my mood swings are from it or not. Spotting is really frustrating, and right now I'm having extreme bleeding after a month and a half of nothing. I can't afford to see my GP every time I get anxious, and nothing online helps."

For Birth Control "At first, I loved Implanon. I thought it would be perfect, I wouldn't have to worry about a pill. Well, I quickly discovered I was wrong! When I got the Implanon inserted, I was still bleeding from having my son. Well, I never stopped. I haven't had a real period since before I got pregnant, and that was in May of 2011. I just got this removed about a week and a half ago. The 6 months I was on it, I only stopped bleeding for about a week, at the most. So even though I'm terrified at the thought of having another child right now, I couldn't handle the constant bleeding, cramping, headaches, etc. Now I have finally stopped bleeding after a solid 2 and a half months. I personally do NOT recommend Implanon!"

For Birth Control "I've had this birth control for 2 years now and want it out so bad! I'm super moody, and my sex drive has gone way down. My boyfriend for 5 years has noticed me not really into it anymore. I got the Implanon when I was 17, and now I'm almost 20. I was very active, so my doctor told me to not worry about a period, it shouldn't come back until I get it out. Wrong! I have been bleeding since the day I got it in. I will get a few months with no period, then maybe spotting for like 4 days. Sometimes I'll bleed for one day. The worst is the long heavy periods. Every 2-3 months, I'll get a period for about 20-25 days. Right now, I'm bleeding, and it's my 22nd day of nonstop. It works for not getting you pregnant though."
