For Cough "I have no complaints about Delsym medicine. It always works great for my colds. However, it’s the orange cup that is very hard to see the dosage prescribed. I suggest either bolding the dosage in black letters or a different color cup. Hard on the eyes for people like me with eye conditions."

For Cough "For me, I was hoping that this would work. I've been through a bunch of cough medicine that wasn't working for me, and I was hoping that this would be the one. I was very wrong, this medicine did absolutely nothing for me and only gave me intense side effects. I should mention that I have the flu, and I've had it for about a week. The coughing is a more recent issue, but it did not stop the urge to cough or coughing at all."

For Cough "I usually use Delsym, as the other products hurt my stomach. Purchased the grape flavor and took the first dose at work. I was also told by the pharmacist that I can combine it with Mucinex-D tablets. Unfortunately, this combo got me high as anything at work - must have been the pseudoephedrine in the Mucinex-D. Essentially, my head was spinning, and I was slightly confused and excited. Another side effect included lots of watery diarrhea and loud stomach gas. I have ongoing bubble guts some 12 hours later. My coughing fits were greatly reduced, though. I definitely won’t be combining those two medications again."

For Cough "I was having a pretty bad cough at work, and the doctor had previously told me to try Delsym. This is my first and last time. My cough definitely calmed down. But... the horrible diarrhea that comes with it is not worth it. I've been back and forth on the toilet for almost an hour. Cough is a little better for sure."

For Cough "Complete waste of almost $15 I paid for a bottle of this stuff. It made my cough and dry throat even worse so that I got very little sleep. I've taken it for 3 nights, each night with the same result. I wish I would have read reviews beforehand, I definitely would not have bought this."

For Cough "I took the recommended dosage of Delsym, and it went in my mouth and set my throat on fire. I have never felt pain like that. I couldn't sleep at all. I sat up all night crying. I've never felt pain like that from a cough medicine or so-called cough medicine."

For Cough "Well, I wish I had read the reviews before I took Delsym before work this morning. I started a new job recently, and I had a slight cough but no other symptoms, so I thought Delsym would decrease the annoying tickle in my throat. Well, I was not prepared to be sitting here at my desk, clenched like my life depends on it. Diarrhea is not fun in an office environment with a shared restroom. I'd rather have dealt with the slight cough. Take heed and learn from my misdeeds."

For Cough "I found out that I tested positive for the flu a few weeks back, and now that I've made a recovery, I'm dealing with a lingering and bothersome cough that has been difficult to shake. I tried it all, from warm tea to cough drops and cough syrup. So my mom decided to buy me Delsym despite the high price. We assumed it had to be of some good, but we were very wrong. It has done NOTHING for me, just sent me to the restroom. This product was a waste of my money."

For Cough "Have a sinus infection which causes a pretty bad cough... got tired of it and reached for Delsym (I bought it a month earlier for my son's bad cough, and it worked for him)... took it at 3 pm today, and by 5 pm I had the runs!!! Cough was gone, but it made me go! I don't have IBS or any digestive issues, so it seems to be affiliated with this medicine... up to you if it's worth it... for me it was, that's how bad my cough was."

For Cough "Wow! I'm feeling ill just reading through these comments, but I came here to ask if anyone has had the opposite reaction with slow bowel movements while using Delsym because I suddenly have no urge to poop! I only take Delsym when plagued with a nagging cough, which is extremely seldom. I only use it at night, never during the day. I don't exceed the recommended length of time. I'm usually very punctual with my bowels, but for the last week since treating with Delsym, I have no sense of urgency to have a BM, and I don't recall ever having this problem in the past with its use. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm mostly concerned because Delsym has been my 'go-to' drug of choice for cough suppression ever since it came out way back in '82."

For Cough "First time I used Delsym was last night. The first dose didn’t do anything to me. After taking the second dose at 11:30 pm, I went to bed praying for the cough to go away. About 4 am, I woke up with a big pain in my chest. Scared to death, I was getting ready to call 911 when I thought to read some reviews of Delsym. Here you go — Delsym was the reason. The pain was there for 3 hours - my biggest nightmare! I'll never ever take this medication again."

For Cough "I bought this Delsym a few days ago for a cough, and when I opened it to pour myself some in the measuring cup, I heard some tingly noise but ignored it. When I took a sip of it, I was curious and poured some out in the sink, and I saw glass appear to be coming out of the plastic bottle. I'm so glad I didn't take it, and now I'll make sure to report it to the FDA."

For Cough "Have a little bit of a lingering cough from a cold. Not giving me much trouble except keeps me up at night. I heard this was good, so I took it so I could get some sleep. Helped tremendously with the cough, but then I was having bad stomach cramps and diarrhea. I hadn't eaten anything that should have upset my stomach, and it didn't really feel like a 'bug,' so I looked up side effects for Delsym. Now I wish I had done that first because I probably wouldn't have taken it. So, while it worked for my cough, I still didn't get any sleep due to the stomach issues."

For Cough "Had taken Delsym brand since Saturday for an aggravating cough, adding to it Mucinex as my former doctor always insisted. No problems except smelled the Mucinex in my stools, but no real cough control either. At 10 p.m. last night, took the first dose from a bottle of Equate brand like Delsym and a Mucinex. At 1:30 a.m., I had the first of hours of sudden, explosive, watery diarrhea. Thought I’d been exposed to a stomach virus, but no nausea or vomiting. Still in agony this morning and still coughing, so took another dose of the Delsym knockoff and decided to research side effects since it didn’t match the stomach viruses I’d had in the past. Why did I do that? I just ran for my Immodium, since having IBS-D, it is my best friend. No more Delsym!"

For Cough "I have used the kid version with success for my children. It does work well to stop a dry cough. It lasts 8 hours, rather than 12. Unfortunately, the last time I used it for my child, she ended up dry heaving for hours and had a bout of explosive diarrhea. It stopped once the medicine wore off (about 8 hours after her dose)."

For Cough "I went to the pharmacy and asked the pharmacist for a medicine to calm my cough, and he recommended Delsym. I have been taking it for 3 days, and the cough has worsened because now every time I cough, I vomit. In these 3 days, I have not been able to keep a single meal in my stomach; just today I stopped taking it, and I stopped vomiting. Apparently, what was causing me the most damage was this medication. I do not recommend it at all."

For Cough "I was a little nervous to take this medication after reading all the negative reviews about horrible diarrhea and nausea. I suffer from IBS, gastritis, GERD, and endometriosis, so my intestines are an absolute mess. I am usually very sensitive to medications, but I was willing to risk it due to having a horrible cough from a virus of some sort. I have been sick for days, and the cough was keeping me up at night, so I gave it a go. Delsym worked absolute wonders for me! Slept all night with no cough and never had any kind of negative effect on my GI system. I would highly recommend this medication if you have a nagging cough."

For Cough "Took a dose at 10:30, and before midnight, I was running to the bathroom with horrible cramping and diarrhea. I will never take this medicine again. I’d rather deal with a cough than stomach pain and diarrhea!"

For Cough "I realize everyone is different, but I'd like to share what happened to me after taking two small sips of Delsym. I had a cough that was driving me crazy, so my wife goes out and buys this. I had never taken it, and my wife assured me that it was good stuff. I ended up taking two small sips from the bottle-definitely less than the recommended dose-and just like everyone else, I got diarrhea. While on the toilet, I started feeling nauseous and felt like I was going to puke. Next thing I know, my head was on the floor upside down, I passed out and had no idea what happened. I picked myself back up (I'm still on the toilet, by the way) and started sweating profusely. I turned to puke in the tub and passed out again, banging my head so hard my wife heard it downstairs. I picked myself up again, and in about 2-3 minutes, I started feeling okay. Just a warning, folks, from a guy that's healthy, doesn't do drugs, and isn't on any sort of medications at all."

For Cough "I came to this site to see if it causes anyone rapid heart rate. When I saw someone say it caused a panic attack, I knew it was the meds. The last thing you need when you have COVID is to think you're having a heart attack. Never, ever take it again. Praying it goes away soon."

For Cough "I took Delsym for a severe cough. It stopped the cough and made me drowsy. I took a nap, and when I woke up, I could not move! My body was paralyzed. My cognition was impaired. After an undetermined period of time, I was able to move and call for help. Very lucky to have been taken to a local VA hospital, where my blood tests indicated my immune system was compromised, and my platelet count was 50,000, which they told me if I was in a serious accident, I would bleed out. I was told that Delsym was a bad OTC cough syrup and would produce serious interactions with other prescribed medications. This near-death experience can be documented."

For Cough "I bought this for a cough for my bronchitis. It is beyond worthless. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS. I called my doctor for a prescription for Robitussin with codeine, and it was $5.00 cheaper and very effective. (generic, of course)"

For Cough "I took the children’s dose, and I’m thankful I did. About 15 min into this, I got drowsy and felt like I took a Vicodin. Not what I wanted, and then I began having an irregular heart rhythm that lasted about 30 minutes. It took care of my cough, but I won’t be taking it again. Scary stuff. Give me old-fashioned Robitussin and cough drops."

For Cough "This medicine shouldn't even get a 1. Hopefully, you were smart and read the reviews before taking because I didn't. The first night I took it, I woke up in the morning and vomited three times. I continued to take it the following day (thought the vomiting was due to something I ate) and continued to vomit. I will never take it again."
