Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "I started this medication at the beginning of 2016. Just after New Year 2017, I got thrush and still have it today. Didn't realize this could cause thrush until today. The last 11/12 weeks have been terrible, felt like I was going mad with the itching, burning, and frequent pain. Couldn't stand, sit, or lie down without wanting to rip my skin off. As soon as another tablet is prescribed, I will come off it. Shame, it had brought my sugars down, but did not lose weight."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "Before I used Farxiga, my A1C was almost 14, and I was on 2 different insulins and 5 other pills. But with a strict diet, exercise, and drinking 6 bottles of water per day and seeing my diabetic nutritionist, in 3 months my A1C has come down to 9. That's amazing. I do urinate a lot, have had a few yeast infections, and experience frequent back pain, my urine has a fruity smell, but the dropping of my A1C outweighs my side effects. I will continue taking Farxiga, and my goal for my A1C is 6. I am insulin-free and only on Farxiga, metformin, and Januvia."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "The sugar levels improved when I started taking Farxiga 10 mg (AstraZeneca), though the frequency of urination increased, with increased discomfort. The problem was that ketones started showing up in the urine. From none (before starting this medication) to ++ to +++ in about 4 weeks' time! Had to give it up."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "I was perfectly happy on Invokana, then my insurance stopped covering it and my Dr. put me on Farxiga to try. Oh my gosh, thought I would die, it did not work on me at all. It gave me a yeast infection the first day, sugar stayed high for hours after meals, could barely pee, it made my heart race, and I felt horrible, horrible, horrible. So now I have to try Jardiance, I can't imagine it being worse than Farxiga. I sure hope I am able to pee with this medication."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "I took 10 mg of Farxiga daily for about 8 months. The good news was that I did not suffer any negative side effects, other than a slight increase in frequency of urination. The bad news is that after 8 months of use, Farxiga did NOT lower my blood glucose - my A1C levels went up, in fact, during that time period. And Farxiga did not help reduce my weight. My endocrinologist suggested I stop taking this med, and I did."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Fabulous weight loss. I am now lighter than I have been in 20 years by losing 18 lb. No diet was working for me before taking these tablets, which helped a lot. I didn't even know that they were used for weight, so it was a lovely surprise. It took 6 months, so it wasn't overnight, but my whole thought process of food changed somehow. The only downside is the thrush, which I have never suffered from before."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "Been on this med for a little over two months. Packed back on weight I lost on Bydureon. Not sure about A1C. The doctor hasn't tested A1C since I started this med. I got a savings card that reduced this med to $30 a month. I can't afford any of the other newer diabetes meds in the hundreds of dollars, so I am stuck taking this. I always get bounced off of these newer meds when the savings cards run out. I am grateful for the time I do get to take the meds due to the savings cards, though. I had pretty severe itching for the first month, but that has subsided dramatically. Thankfully I haven't had any yeast infections, but I have also been taking standardized cranberry pills. I can say I am much less tired on this med than I was on a couple of the other newer meds."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "This medication worked immediately, lowering my blood glucose. I was only on it for about 1 week (free samples from physician). Then the pharmacy called and said my excellent insurance doesn't cover it. Out-of-pocket cost $430 for a 30-day supply - no can do! Switched to Invokana instead. Farxiga apparently works with no side effects (I'm a guy), but no insurance coverage for the drug."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "My numbers are higher on Farxiga than I've ever had. Ask doctor to add Metformin 500 mg × 2 a day, it brings my range back to what I was used to on Janumet XR. I hurt in my left arm, vaginal infection, since being on Farxiga 8 weeks. I want a specialist after my next doctor appointment."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "Been on this drug about a year and a half now and almost instantly began suffering near-constant yeast infections. But on the positive side, my blood sugars and A1C are spot on, and I've lost 3 stone in that small length of time, and I have more energy and sleep better, although bedwetting has sometimes been a problem."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking Farxiga after not being able to control type 2 diabetes. I was taking Janumet. Since I've been on Farxiga for 3 months, it has given me yeast infections, sore throat, runny nose, and frequent urination. I am going to speak to my doctor to see if I can try something else, the side effects are so scary and bothersome."

For Type 2 Diabetes "This drug has been an absolute lifesaver for me. My levels were creeping up. I was petrified of needing insulin, and luckily the nurse at my GP surgery told me about this and said it can cause UTIs and the sick day rule and stopping it if you do get a UTI. I was scared reading the reviews but thought other drugs that have bad reviews I take, and I am fine on them, so thought I should give it a try. No side effects and no UTI, but I do drink lots of water every day, so I don’t know if this helps."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "I had to rob the bank to pay for it. My fasting stick numbers are relatively stable but way above target. They became high after my first COVID-19 vaccine last March. My doctor increased my dosage of Glimepiride from 1 to 4 mg first, then added this in January. I experience both bowel and bladder incontinence due to chronic degenerative osteoarthritis that generates untreatable pain. I used to be functional. Then, the CDC reclassified Hydrocodone to a type 2 narcotic. And left me and millions of others to suffer. Most people who take this pain reliever never become addicts. Just become non-working disabled."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking Farxiga in March 2024. I have been coughing for five months now since I started taking it. I went to my primary doctor; she said it was acid reflux. I went to the emergency room several times, and they said bronchitis and sinus infection. I finally went to the ear, nose, and throat doctor, and he told me it was the Farxiga. OMG! I have had a bad yeast infection off and on ever since I have been taking it. Yes, it brings your blood sugar down gracefully, but it messes everything else up in your body, including your eyes."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "Started this medication 10 days ago. I have been taking two standardized cranberry pills a day since I started Farxiga. 'Knock on wood,' I don't have a yeast infection. I do have some itching on my hip area and upper back area since taking this medication. Not sure what that is about. I am thirsty often, but I have been trying to drink a lot of water. Hoping this medication works well for me. I just came off Bydureon, and it helped me lose 25 lbs. Hoping for a miracle weight loss from this medication. :)"

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "Farxiga is effective. It has helped my numbers and lost approx. 10 lbs over a year. The only problem is the excessive thirst and frequent urination. I work and travel a lot, so this really impacts my quality of life. I would recommend this medication for someone who stays home most of the time, not for someone on the go. I will ask my doctor to change my medication at my next appointment."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "Two weeks into taking Farxiga, this morning I had an attack like I've never felt before. First came the dizziness where I was nearly incapacitated. I made it to a seat, but then barfing started, dry heaved everything out. Then the hot flash started, sweat dripping down my cheeks and forehead. Then diarrhea started while the sweat continued to drip. It subsided after a good 15 minutes of terror, but now there is 'something' in my gut that hurts and has moved all the way from the right side of my rib cage and now, three hours later, has made it to the left side of my ribs. I'm not taking that next pill. Farxiga DID lower my blood sugar, I was getting numbers like 114-131 depending on what I ate, so that part was good...but that attack this morning at 6 a.m., just after waking up, I'm not going through that again."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "I was previously on Farxiga 10 mg for 1 year. I had extreme thirstiness, urgency when urinating, and finally genital swelling. I discontinued due to this 3 weeks ago, and the swelling persists. It worked at first to keep my A1C in check, but soon I started having an increase in appetite, picking up 5 lbs. My fasting started to increase because I was doing late-night snacking. I was on Metformin XR 2000 before they did the recall, which worked well for me. I am now back on Metformin 1500 and have not had any of the side effects except insomnia if I take it after 7 p.m."

Dapagliflozin for Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction "Have been prescribed Farxiga for heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. I am already on Lasix, my cardiologist doubled the Lasix and added Farxiga. I don’t have type 2 diabetes, my glucose is normal, so I am hoping the negative side effects won’t be so bad."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Concerning hair loss since taking Farxiga: I was diagnosed with T2 diabetes in Jan 2020, with an A1C of 13.5. My doctor started me on Farxiga 5 mg every morning and Ozempic 0.25 sub q once a week. Over the last 4 weeks or so, I’ve had a concerning amount of hair loss, which prompted a telehealth appointment with my doctor 10 days ago. He “thinks” it may be stress-related, as I work in a hospital ER, and with Covid-19, the atmosphere is stressful. I voiced my concerns about the Farxiga and Ozempic RXs since they are the only new medications I’ve started; he said he didn’t see that as a reported concern; however, he suggested I stop taking the Farxiga for a week or so to see if there’s improvement. 10 days later, I’m not seeing any improvement; however, I’m going to give it a few more weeks now that I’ve read here that others have had hair loss as well. I want to give it time to get out of my system and see if it’s any better."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My husband started taking this medication in Jan 2018. All appeared well at first, he lost some weight, which the GP said would happen, and has suffered a slight yeast infection. However, he is now experiencing severe muscle aches and says it’s like having the flu. He has trouble getting out of bed, always worse first thing in the morning and at night, wears off slightly during the day, he says he feels like a cripple. This has only happened since he has been on this drug, and he is really struggling. The GP has taken him off it after our protests and is currently waiting to see the Diabetic Nurse. I wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience, and if so, how long it took until you felt better. Would not recommend this drug to anyone, also, his BG has increased."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "I was first prescribed 1 tablet daily in the morning for two weeks, my FBS 181, PP2BS 290 +1. It came down to 155 & 152. The dose of Farxiga was extended to one month. Today I am detected FBS 160, +2 urine glucose, PP2BS 170, +2 urine glucose. I am quite worried."
