For Chronic Kidney Disease "I started taking Farxiga in July 2022 for an eGFR of 18. Two weeks ago in February 2023, my eGFR is now 44. I was given the AstraZeneca grant for a year's supply of Farxiga because I can't afford the copay. I had to nag my PCP for 6 months to prescribe the drug, as I didn't want dialysis or a kidney transplant. I'm not diabetic, and I watch my sugar intake or lack of intake so I don't become hypoglycemic. So far, so good. My nephrologist was getting ready to put me on the medication until my PCP finally read up about how the drug helps. My use of Farxiga outweighs the side effects of hot flashes. I don't have any other side effects. I'm on a 10 mg dose still until it's safe to go back to 5 mg, per my nephrologist."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Farxiga has worked great for me. I have been taking it for 18 months and luckily have not had the side effects from the other posts, except for having to urinate more often. What it has done for me is gotten me off my daily shot of Tresiba and cut in half my weekly Trulicity, so I can't recommend it enough as it has done more for my plan than anything else. Good luck."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started Farxiga 6 weeks ago. 2 weeks at 5 mg, and 4 weeks at 10 mg. I read reviews and started cranberry pills at the same time and have had no infections. My blood sugar is below 140 90% of the time if I cut carbs and starches. When I do slip, my numbers go up and then back down within a couple of hours. I love this med!!!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "My numbers have become normalized and I have had little to no side effects, other than increased thirst/urination. I lost ten pounds as well. I think Farxiga has worked wonders for me and I consider myself lucky to not be experiencing any negative side effects."

For Type 2 Diabetes "After only 5 weeks of 5 mg of Farxiga, I had very swollen legs, tops of feet, and ankles. The tops of feet and legs are also covered in an itchy, sore rash. I phoned my doctor, who told me to continue taking this drug! Then I started having very painful urination and a strange feeling when peeing. I was beginning to feel dizzy and had constant headaches with tingling in my legs, stomach pains, and joint pains all over, so I stopped this terrible drug. I stopped Farxiga over 3 weeks ago and am still suffering the side effects, and the yeast and urine infection are still ongoing. Scared I will never feel right again."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been taking this for 3 days. Not long, but I have had screaming headaches and my hand joints hurt. Last night, it felt like my heart was flipping inside my chest. Maybe 3 days is not long enough, but after reading other reviews, I think I will stop. I also cannot get enough fluids and woke up this morning dehydrated to the extent that my mouth was dry and hurt."

For Chronic Kidney Disease "I began taking Farxiga in February for a month but became concerned about potential kidney function loss and decided to discontinue use. After stopping, my kidney function increased from 30 to 34. I thought it would be helpful to consult with primary and clinical pharmacists regarding my concerns. However, my kidney doctor resumed my Farxiga prescription, and I have now been taking it for one month. Unfortunately, my kidney function has decreased to 24, and I have had two blood tests in one week that revealed elevated levels of creatinine and potassium. Despite having a good blood panel in March before starting Farxiga, I have experienced chest pain and a salty taste in my mouth. I stopped taking Farxiga today, but I am worried that the damage may be irreversible. If you have low kidney function to start with, I advise against taking this medication as it may adversely affect your potassium levels. I am scared and have read that individuals with a GFR of less than 45 should avoid this medication. I question my doctor's decision to prescribe it to me."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on 5 mg of Farxiga for 2 months. I developed a yeast infection within two weeks, very uncomfortable since I had not had one before. Besides that, everything else seems fine, I do feel more like myself with this prescription because the others I have tried, I felt like I had to eat more often or my numbers seemed high. I will stay on Farxiga for now but will have to change if I continue to have yeast infections."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My average glucose HbA1c was 9.5. Doctor prescribed Farxiga 10 mg. It reduced sugar to 7.1 HbA1c. But the side effects were just dangerous. My urination increased a lot and thus my dehydration. So huge constipation, dry eyes, penile infection. Thus, I have stopped this medication and moved to a different one."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I would advise everyone to quit Farxiga and Ivokanna. I have been on it for a year, and it wasn't bad at first, but I've had numerous kidney infections, and lately, it has been making me so sick (cold sweats, dehydration, weird feeling when peeing). And USA Today just dropped an article this week about these two drugs causing flesh-eating bacteria in the genitals. I'm not kidding at all. Just do an internet search for Farxiga and flesh-eating bacteria. There you will see plenty of brand new information about how dangerous this is. My Farxiga script is in the trash, and I'm scared to death of the damage I have been doing for the last year."

For Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction "My doctor thought I would benefit from this. He is very skilled, but he was wrong about Farxiga. The only bad reviews I have for it are feeling lightheaded and dizzy. I was taking 10 mg, then I started taking just a half of a tablet and still feel woozy. It just feels really weird, like you are floating in the air. Not a good med for me. Entresto and bisoprolol are the best two meds for heart failure, along with anticoagulant Brilinta and aspirin."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Took this Farxiga for two weeks, hated it, was extremely exhausted and couldn't stop drinking water. I drank 32 oz of water every night, so I was in the bathroom most of the night. So tired I didn't want to move, I got dizzy and felt awful. Would never take again."

For Heart Failure "I was on this medication for about 4 months. My cardiologist put me on it as part of my treatment for heart failure. My heart function improved significantly while taking the Farxiga along with a few other meds, but I had to stop taking it because of the unbearable vaginal itching, redness, and irritation it was causing. The side effects outweighed the benefits for me, unfortunately."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Doctor gave me a 3-week supply of Farxiga, and I got an instant yeast infection within 2 days of taking it. After about 2 weeks, I noticed an irregular heartbeat at night, chills throughout the day, and pain throughout my body. I do notice a curb in my appetite. If I could handle the side effects, I would continue. But I work 15 hours a day, I need to feel good. I also take Metformin 750 XR and Metoprolol tartrate for high blood pressure."

For Type 2 Diabetes "After 1 1/2 weeks of taking Farxiga, I went into severe dehydration that included dizziness, being lightheaded, not being able to stand for more than a minute without feeling like I was going to faint, extreme shortness of breath, chest pain, pain in my lower back and sides, excessive thirst, and dry mouth. Luckily, my daughter has had medical training and recognized that I had severe dehydration. I had to begin immediate fluid replenishing as well as salt replacement. Farxiga is the only thing that had been changed about my regular schedule, and upon looking at the maker's website, we found that dehydration, kidney problems, increased bad cholesterol levels, and UTIs are just some of the regular side effects that go along with taking this."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Began taking Farxiga 10 mg/day in October 2015. With determination of drinking 8 glasses of water a day, exercising 3 times a week (one hour), and eating more protein and salads at dinner, I have lost 40 lbs. This medication is great, but never fool yourself that medication on its own can make you lose weight."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Works well. I already drink 2 gal of water a day, so I can't say it made my trips to the bathroom more frequent. No negative side effects. As with any med, I believe it will only work with a strict diet and exercise. Overall, it's part of a plan that has saved my life."

For Heart Failure "My doctor put me back on after they took my melano pump off. I had the worst side effects just after 5 days of use. Dizzy/lightheaded, laziness, weakness, terrible headache, go to bed at 9, wake up at 11:30+ the next day, fast heartbeat, deep sweat at night, and a few others. This medicine is not for me."

For Heart Failure "Farxiga has been a godsend for me. I developed CHF with an ejection fraction of 30% after a heart attack. My doctor had tried me on Entresto first, but it caused extreme dizziness/fatigue. We decided to try Farxiga, and it has made a huge difference for me. I'm able to carry groceries again and can sing without fighting for breath, among many little things I can do again, all thanks to Farxiga."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I've been taking Farxiga 10 mg for over two years. Despite dealing with occasional yeast infections in the groin area and dizziness, I've recently noticed a significant decline in the firmness of my erections. Given that my blood sugar levels are typically between 99 and 122 before meals, I’ve decided to stop taking this medication. It no longer seems worth the side effects."

For Heart Failure "In October 2020, an ICD wire had failed as my heart failure advanced. I felt terrible-to say the least. Every meal was miserable for me as the shortness of breath became intolerable. I thought the end was around the corner. Long story short, FARXIGA was and is the last thing they could do for me short of an LV pump. FARXIGA was a little rough around the edges for a couple of weeks, these days, I'm doing very well. Perhaps I'll take it easy a couple of days a week, other than that, I take care of myself and every chore and travel. Ask your cardiologist to give you a chance with it..... Incidentally, I was not a candidate for Entresto (angioedema caused by lisinopril, I was happy with lisinopril for 5 years)."

For Chronic Kidney Disease "Here is the really weird thing about Farxiga: it's supposed to help your kidneys, but it makes your kidney numbers worse. My GFR went down, my serum creatinine went up, and my urine albumin went from 68.1 mg/l to 338 mg/l after using it for only six weeks. My doctor told me this is normal - it's counterintuitive. So I asked him - how will I know it's working - he said wait 5-10 years. I had non-insulin-dependent diabetes with protein in my urine, so my endocrinologist/nephrologist recommended it to protect my kidneys. She switched my 1500 mg of metformin to 10 mg of Farxiga. The Farxiga was not as effective at controlling my diabetes. My A1c jumped from 5.5 to 5.7, and my insulin jumped from 30 to 68. I was very hungry on this drug, and I also think it affected my taste buds and gave me the sniffles. It's odd to take a drug that gives the opposite statistics of what you want - I really don't think I'll continue taking it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I'm over 300 lbs. I have only been taking this for 1 month, and I'm finally losing weight. It's so strange. I've been on Metformin for about 6 months, but it failed to lower my numbers. With this pill, I'm never hungry, just thirsty. I have to force myself to eat at times. I didn't notice the weight loss at first, but everyone else did. It's coming off fast, and I haven't yet incorporated exercise or much of a change in diet. The only bad side effect I've experienced is the frequent urination and dry mouth. I sometimes have bladder pain, but only the times I don't drink plenty of water. I'm so excited to be finally losing weight!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "Had a constant yeast infection and 3 urinary tract infections in the two months I was on it. I was so thirsty, I would drink a gallon of water at work. I urinated every 20 minutes. My bladder was sore if my belly was touched. I really tried and wanted this to work. I did lose about 12 pounds and had energy. But I was depressed from constant 'female issues'. It just got worse and worse. I took myself off this pill and am back on Metformin XR. Waiting to see my doc for the next plan of attack. This did not work for me."
