Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "After 1 1/2 weeks of taking Farxiga, I went into severe dehydration that included dizziness, being lightheaded, not being able to stand for more than a minute without feeling like I was going to faint, extreme shortness of breath, chest pain, pain in my lower back and sides, excessive thirst, and dry mouth. Luckily, my daughter has had medical training and recognized that I had severe dehydration. I had to begin immediate fluid replenishing as well as salt replacement. Farxiga is the only thing that had been changed about my regular schedule, and upon looking at the maker's website, we found that dehydration, kidney problems, increased bad cholesterol levels, and UTIs are just some of the regular side effects that go along with taking this."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "Had a constant yeast infection and 3 urinary tract infections in the two months I was on it. I was so thirsty, I would drink a gallon of water at work. I urinated every 20 minutes. My bladder was sore if my belly was touched. I really tried and wanted this to work. I did lose about 12 pounds and had energy. But I was depressed from constant 'female issues'. It just got worse and worse. I took myself off this pill and am back on Metformin XR. Waiting to see my doc for the next plan of attack. This did not work for me."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "Started Farxiga, was already on Metformin XR. At first, I lost weight, blood sugars stayed the same, now increasing. Sugar levels stay high for some time. I have an increased thirst and frequent urination. Been on it for about a year. Now I have gained weight, suffered dehydration a couple of times, had to have an IV of fluids. A1C is climbing, started out at 8.1, now 8.9. I woke up this morning with upper left quadrant pain. For the past two weeks, have had smelly urine, almost acidic. Swelling of eyes and crusty eyelids. Hives on neck. Got tested for lupus, was negative. Going to see the doctor as soon as I can get an appointment. Going to stop taking this med, now! I stopped, and all side effects stopped. Thought I would give it a try one more time."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "Started taking Farxiga while still taking metformin (3 X 800 daily). Tried to wean off metformin and simply take Farxiga. Bad decision. Farxiga gave me dry mouth, made me thirsty, had negligible effect on my glucose levels and A1C. Started to experience dizziness and then fainting while on Farxiga. After a month, I went back to metformin. Feel 1,000 percent better without being dizzy all of the time. Not worth the expense for a drug that doesn't work."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "Farxiga is effective. It has helped my numbers and lost approx. 10 lbs over a year. The only problem is the excessive thirst and frequent urination. I work and travel a lot, so this really impacts my quality of life. I would recommend this medication for someone who stays home most of the time, not for someone on the go. I will ask my doctor to change my medication at my next appointment."

Dapagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "I was previously on Farxiga 10 mg for 1 year. I had extreme thirstiness, urgency when urinating, and finally genital swelling. I discontinued due to this 3 weeks ago, and the swelling persists. It worked at first to keep my A1C in check, but soon I started having an increase in appetite, picking up 5 lbs. My fasting started to increase because I was doing late-night snacking. I was on Metformin XR 2000 before they did the recall, which worked well for me. I am now back on Metformin 1500 and have not had any of the side effects except insomnia if I take it after 7 p.m."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Have been on 10 mg Forxiga for 10 months, have had extreme thirst, constant urination, headaches, dizziness, and an inability to concentrate, and yeast infections constantly, but have lost 15 kg. I halved my dosage to 5 mg one month ago and feel heaps better in all aspects and am increasing exercise to keep weight off. I want to stop Forxiga altogether as my biggest fear is this weird inability to concentrate, as I require good mental clarity and long periods of concentration in my job. Has anyone else found it affects their ability to concentrate? I find it really scary and may have to stop it for this reason alone."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started on this tablet as the Metformin still affected my stomach and caused bouts of diarrhea. When I changed to Forxiga Dapagliflozin (5 mg), I was pleased the dose consisted of one small tablet a day, however, the worst side effect was the constant thirst. Even throughout the night, I was getting up to drink 2 or 3 times. Then I started with thrush, which meant I was having to take tablets for the side effects - so I gave up. Now back to Metformin slow release but 3 x 500 mg a day :-("

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have hypothyroidism. So I'm taking Eltroxin 200. After a routine check-up, my blood sugar was marginally high, and A1C was pretty high, 8. So the doctor put me on Glycomet SR 500, which is metformin, and Farxiga 10 mg. This was in August 2016. Since then, my sugar has been under control. But I had numerous yeast infections, and the past three months, I have had a pinworm infestation. I took Albendazole, and it was momentarily OK. But now the pinworms are back, with more yeast infection. But I fear the pinworms have infected my uterus and fallopian tubes, as I'm having constant pain. I am overweight, and Farxiga has done nothing to reduce it, as I'm constantly hungry and thirsty. Pinworms made my life hell. Finally stopped Farxiga. Feel much better. My gynecologist prescribed for the yeast infection. Finally feeling like a human again. But I fear my fallopian tubes have been permanently scarred, as I get frequent intermittent spotting and cramps. I will not recommend."
