For Chlamydia Infection "Soooo, I get a call saying I need to get checked, and of course I'm all butt hurt because I've had like one fling in my whole life, and of course it's the only guy I didn't use protection with. So I go in, I get tested. I get the results. It's chlamydia. My doctor prescribes me the drink powder, and honestly, taking the medicine was terrible because the powder doesn't dissolve all the way, so I had to keep refilling my glass. I gagged a lot, so just be careful with it. I ate right after I took it, and it took about 30 minutes for the stomach cramps to start in. They were pretty uncomfortable, but I didn't get diarrhea, just the cramps. It's not great, but I mean, it's the price I pay. Just gonna sleep it off. And probably never have sex again."

For Chlamydia Infection "Took this last week under the directions of my pharmacist. I ate a full dinner (burger and some veg) and waited 45 minutes to an hour before taking my 4 large pink pills. My pharmacist and my doctor both recommended staying away from dairy in the meal before I took the pills. Went to bed feeling a little nauseous, but that could have been nerves because of all the reviews on here. I slept through the night, totally fine. No diarrhea, no vomiting. Got my lab results back this morning, and I'm in the clear."

For Middle Ear Infections "After my son had the croup for three weeks and spent ten days on Augmentin and fighting with a two-year-old to administer it twice a day, he developed a severe sinus infection. The physician prescribed liquid Zithromax that had to be given once per day and only for five days and did not need to be refrigerated, which was great since we were traveling, and best of all, it got rid of the croup and the sinus infection very fast - it's a winner."

For Sinusitis "I get sinusitis several times a year. The old-fashioned 5-day Z-packs used to work really well for me. They still do 'knock down' the worst of it (I carry a filled prescription from my doctor when I'm traveling on business)... but in the past several years, I've noticed that sometimes the sinusitis will rebound in a couple of weeks, and I end up having to take a different type of antibiotic. Unfortunately, those secondary antibiotics tend to get to me -- queasy stomach, the 'taste' of the medicine even hours later. None of that with Zithromax. The only time I had a bad experience with Zithromax side effects was the three-day pack."

For Sinusitis "After years of suffering a one nostril clog, I was recently prescribed a 5-day 250 mg dosage of Zithromax. I had zero side effects, and although it didn't totally clear my sinus infection, it cleared it enough for me to know it was absolutely effective and on the right path. I can now get lengthy periods of use out of my other nostril, and that's better than I've had in 10 years."

For Bronchitis "I was diagnosed with bronchitis (even though I wasn't coughing) and prescribed Z-Pak. Within 3 hours after the first dose, I was shaking all over uncontrollably, blood pressure and heart rate increased significantly. Ended up in urgent care, where testing showed no infection in my body and clear lungs. Told to stop the med, drink lots of fluid, and wait for the med to flush out of my system. Shaking subsided in about 2 hours, but racing heart continued for several more. I'm also unable to go to sleep now. Don't need an antibiotic, but won't ever take this one again!"

For Bronchitis "I was given 2 tablets the first day, followed by 1 tablet for the next four days. I was coughing so hard I could not get out of bed. The only thing it did for me, now on day 10, is it eased up the cough so that I did not lose my breath and vomit phlegm, but I just called the doctor again today because I am still coughing up very thick phlegm. It helped, but it did not work that great at all. Now the doctor is calling in Tessalon pearls. We will see if that works."

For Bronchitis "I woke up one morning with burning in my chest when I coughed, lots of mucous in my upper respiratory area, a headache, 101 fever, and the mucous was even flowing out of my left eye. My internist prescribed the Z-Pak. On day 3, the burning in my chest went away. But the side effects were severe. On day 3, I began to get massive night sweats. These sweats lasted 31 days after the last pill I took. My blood sugar level also rose to prediabetic levels. My glucose was tested at 115, then 108. My blood pressure and heartbeat rocketed for well over a month before it subsided. I would say that my body did not respond very well to Zithromax. But the drug did what it was supposed to. I would never take this drug again unless I was forced to."

For Chlamydia Infection "So, I tested positive for chlamydia today. I went in for a 6-month checkup, and bam... positive. I am furious! First time ever having to deal with an STI. Anyway, I'm allergic to 'cillins', so I was prescribed two 500 mg tablets of Zithromax. Took them right at my doctor's around 3:30. My stomach started churning around 6:30, no nausea or vomiting. Come 8 pm, it was like a waterfall out my poop hole. Only one bout so far, but I'm sure there will be more. Had some slight stomach pain, but nothing unbearable. Waiting to find out how my partner's feeling, lol!!!"

For Sinusitis "I am on day 3 of this. I felt like death on day one, could barely stand up, clogged up, extremely sore throat. Day 2, still clogged up but not as much, and throat starting to feel better. I'm surprised! Day 3 today, still some mucus this morning and a bit of sore throat, but way, way better than day 1!"

For Bronchitis "Zithromax is one of the worst medications I have ever taken. This drug gave me acute liver damage with liver function readings of 560 @ ferritin of 3000, also acute pain. Had to go to emergency. This is a dangerous drug. I took it for several weeks, 3 times a week for prevention of chest infection at a dosage of 250 mg."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I was prescribed a 5-day Z-Pak to treat a streptococcal pharyngitis infection. After the second day, the medication reduced the swelling and throat pain, but began to cause stomach cramping and pain. By the end of the third day, the stomach pain was severe, and the doctor recommended discontinuing use. This is the only antibiotic I have used that has caused an allergic reaction."

For Bronchitis "I have asthma and recently came down with bronchitis yesterday and ended up at urgent care. I had noticed it a few days ago when my chest was tight and my inhaler wasn’t helping, and this morning after I woke up feeling terrible with a wet cough and lower back pain from the cough. I went to urgent care and they prescribed me a Z pack, which I am currently on. The second day of taking it, I had a 101.4 fever, and it has been reduced by taking ibuprofen as well. I am coughing up lots of phlegm, which is helping me breathe better, and I’m coughing less. Overall, so far doing good. I will update if anything comes back."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "So got my wisdom teeth out about three days ago, had an infection, got prescribed some other crazy antibiotic. Wasn't comfortable taking it, so I asked for a new one the next day and got prescribed Z-Pack. Was hesitating to take this one also because of the reviews and warnings it has. I'm also not one for taking antibiotics. Don't listen to the reviews you're reading, they're scary. I have terrible anxiety, but it's rare that people have those side effects. So yesterday I finally took it. Only had slight nausea and abdominal pains. I think the nausea was from the nervousness. I also got an awesome sleep. I'm already feeling better after my 2nd dose. Have 3 days to go. But I think it's doing its job, just eat yogurt and take a probiotic, you will be fine."

For Chlamydia Infection "Was prescribed one dose over the course of one day, took 4 pills of 250 mg after a light lunch, and had nausea and mild stomach pains/upset. Lying down did not alleviate the discomfort and threw up 3 hours later. Called my doctor to check if I needed to take another dose, but he said my body would have absorbed the pills by then. Still experiencing mild stomach pains, but nausea is mostly gone now."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I was prescribed this medication for a serious case of Strep Throat, and although it's working to relieve Strep... it's giving me some crazy side effects. The diarrhea is absolutely annoying, and since I started taking this med, I've felt pain in the left side of my chest near my armpit. I wouldn't recommend this medication. Just take Amoxicillin or Penicillin if you're not allergic to it."

For Bacterial Infection "Brand name Zithromax works better than the lower quality generic, however, I've found that Zithromax isn't the greatest when you have infections of both upper and lower airways. It may be due to antibiotic resistance. Same thing with amoxicillin alone happens: not as effective as it used to be years ago."

For Bronchitis "I went to the ER after I coughed up blood a few times through the day, and I was diagnosed with acute bronchitis. I was prescribed the Z-Pack 5-day regimen. After a couple of days, I began feeling a little better, but by the 5th or 6th day, I felt worse. I had severe nausea and became anorexic to the point that I lost 14 pounds. It took about another 4-5 days until I could eat more than a bite or so of food at any sitting. It's been around a month and a half since this happened, and I'm still having issues with my appetite and weight. I'm still down the 14 lbs, and my energy flags easily. I'll never, EVER take that med again due to such an experience. I've had fine success with other antibiotics, without them being this hard on my gut."

For Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare, Treatment "I have been taking this on a weekly basis for the past 8 months, but I noticed that in the last three weeks, it's been giving me diarrhea the moment I take it. It just goes right through me. This medication is effective, but you have to make sure your body can handle it. I did, for a while, until recently."

For Chlamydia Infection "I received the medication this morning in 2 x 500 mg tablets after a call in from the doctor. Even with protection, I caught chlamydia recently! Absolutely no pain or discomfort, except pure bloating. Had a pub lunch and beer for lunch with no issues. Eight hours after taking, I'm now consuming a glass of wine as I head out for a birthday. Bloating a lot worse, and it has gone straight to my head, but no dramas as yet. Will try and keep off the shots tonight, though!"

For Bronchitis "Diagnosed with bronchitis on Friday, started the Z-pack and I've taken them to the end and still very sick after an entire week! I realized I needed to be seen when I woke up this morning with terrible chest pains, especially when I breathe. I went to urgent care this morning, and the doctor said that I was the second patient he had that took the Z-pack and had no effect. I am disappointed to say the least! Now I am on a different antibiotic. If I could give zero stars, I would."

For Bronchitis "Was given Z-pack for bronchitis. Didn't really help with it. Made me have diarrhea. Made me sick to my stomach, terrible metallic taste, and sinus mucus. It was like it was toxic on my system. I also got a bladder infection after taking it. Probably killed all the good bacteria in my gut. Never again."

For Bronchitis "I was prescribed Zithromax 250 mg tablets for bronchitis. I’ve taken it for many years as I regularly seem to get sick every fall. Never had reactions either. The generic version I was given was from Lupin Mfg. Co. After my first day dosage, I had indigestion about 2 hours later. The next day, after taking the pill, I developed burning eyes and nose! Also, sores inside my mouth. Diarrhea and lots of gas also. I took myself off the pills and will call my doctor."

For Bronchitis "Wow, after reading the comments here, I am thankful to say I've had very little in side effects. Had worsening bronchitis and sinusitis for over a month. Finally called the doc for antibiotics. Within 24 hours, I could feel it working. Had a short spell of my temp going up the first day. I'm on day 5 and almost clear of infection and thankful this med will keep on working for a while. Each day, I've had a short spell of belly cramps, but that's it. I generally eat a lot of yogurt, so that may help. I react very badly to plain erythromycin, so however this is different, it's a great improvement."
