Reviews for Aspirin/butalbital/caffeine

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Pain: “I’ve used Fiorinol with codeine for 49 years and it’s the only pain relief medication that works for me. I have multiple issues, severe back pain it reduces pain so I function but doesn’t make it go completely away, in the past the issues worked completely... I take at the onset of pain, if I wait too long pain is harder to control. I thought it only came in a capsule then I got it in tablet form once and the tablet didn’t work as well and yet should be the same. In the past I was given a generic which did not work, the past 5-6 yrs the generic is working. It used to cost me over $800/month but with generic the price is about $400. My plan covers 80% I have tried other medication every time a new one comes on the market with no success. This is a drug that does need constant monitoring but it does work. Recent kidney tests have been good for me so it hasn’t affected that with long term use.”

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine: “I have been prescribed fiorinal/fioricet for almost 40 years. I have had migraines since I was ten years old and I am now 65. When it was first prescribed for me, I was getting migraines 2, 3, 4 times a week. Now the frequency is 2 or 3 every month or two. Fiorinal/fioricet is the only drug that has helped ease the pain of a migraine. I am fortunate that I usually get the visual aura followed by a numbness in one or more body parts before the pain comes on. If I take the fiorinal/ fioricet when the aura comes on, the pain of the headache is greatly diminished. I can function and people around me don’t even realize I am having a migraine! I have suggested this drug to friends for their migraines but have been told their doctors don’t want to prescribe it. I don’t understand why.”

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine: “I have been getting migraines since my early teens. Since the 1980’s. Our family doctor at the time prescribed Fiorinal until he retired in the late 90’s. It was my miracle med!! As years went by and finding new doctors (because they retired) they continued prescribing me Fiorinal. Then new meds came on the market for migraines. I felt like a Guinea pig because a new doctor didn’t want to prescribe Fiorinal for me. The new meds did nothing , I lost so much time from work. It was terrible. I’m in my mid 50’s now and get around 2-3 migraines a month. But when the weather is cloudy and rainy , the migraines are more aggressive. So thankful to God that my doctor now for the past 7 years is prescribing me Fiorinal. It’s old school meds , but it WORKS!!! It’s quite expensive and it’s not covered from Pharmacare. This medication does the job and no side affects!! I’m so relieved it’s still around :)”

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Headache: “My father and I both used to get horrible headaches. I was given this drug Fiorinal in the E.R. I filled the script and wow no more headache. I took 1 and did't need another. 2 weeks later my dad got 1 of our headaches and I gave him 1 and same thing headache gone. Guess what we never got 1 of our headaches again EVER. He is sadly now gone he went the next 26 years without another and I am currently at 30 years since and still have not had 1 of those headaches again!”

Butalbital Compound (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine: “I've always used butalbital/tylenol/caffeine combo. I have found that the manufacturer depends on how well it works for me. When its a good manufacturer it works very well. Still wondering if this has tylenol why do my ears ring? If too much motrin they ring & I never take aspirin. Anyway that's my experience.”

Butalbital Compound (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine: “Been on a combo of fioricet, tramadol, flexeril. Worked great. Was on for more than 25 yrs, now can't find a dr to prescribe them . They act like the barbitiuate in it is as dangerous as codiene or cocaine. Really? been on it most my life. I was on a pretty high dose, 2 fioricet, 2 tramadol, one flexiril all 3x daily. But,,, not near the migraines I do now. Oh, don't forget the zofran for nausea. I have a migraine now and last 4 days. Nothing to take but ibupro, so hard on my esophagus and stomach.”

For Migraine: “I'm a 72 year old male who has hereditary migraines (inheriting from my mother and passing it on to my son) from my early teens. I've been to countless neurologists prescribing any and all migraine medications, none worked except this compound with added codeine. I experience an initial aura (loss of partial vision) with the deep pain oncoming within a half hour. This may be combined with nausea. The onset of relief from this medication coincides with the pain onset perfectly. 2-3 hours of a dark room and rest and the episode is over. I carry this medication everywhere I go, it is indispensable!”

For Migraine: “1960s Doctor said I was having growing pains and the headaches were something I had to live with. 1970 Med-school friend told me of Fiorinal when I told him I was starting one of those blinding 3 day headaches. 2 tablets and 20 minutes later the pain was gone. (Worst tasting medicine ever!) I carry a cylinder with 2 capsules now and forever. Recently insurance got weird spouting that I was going to get addicted to the pills. Duh, terrible addiction, I take 2 caps about every 2 weeks when needed.”

For Migraine: “It really helps with headaches and migraines. It works well my allergy and sinus medicine. I experience horrible migraines since I fell last year and the sinus allergies that I had before the fall are bad but the throbbing migraine with them is very painful. I don’t drink alcohol or do illegal drugs; all because I don’t handle the after effects well so don’t. Since I hit 63 and fell last year I’ve had migraines (when I fell I did not hit my head) as bad as debilitating hangovers for example. I can take the butalbital, aspirin, caffeine 59-325-40 and within a thirty minute span my migraine headache is easing and within an hour I can handle the day with some what of a smile”

For Migraine: “I have no family history of migraines. They started after my hysterectomy when I was 24. I am 71 now and just had one Friday and Saturday. They start with the auras that I cannot see then it has to go from one eye to the other then it starts with the nausea and headache. I have to go into dark room no noise and cold clothe covering my eyes. If I can get the medicine when it starts it helps a lot. I usually have my head sore not headache for a few days after. No fun.”

Butalbital Compound (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine: “I have experienced migraines 40 years now. They are hereditary from mother's side. I did have a hysterectomy and the migraines did not leave. I love the butalbital compound / tablet, it is the only thing that gives me relief from a migraine. I have been given every new drug that comes on the market and I have an allergic reaction sending me at times to the emergency room. I like to stay with something I know works, gives me relief where I can function and go on with my life.”

Butalbital Compound (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine: “I’ve been taking this for years! I’ve been getting migraines since age 11, and still get them almost daily! This medicine works great for treating migraine at onset. I also take Imitrex tablets and injections when I wake up with a migraine. I’ve been through so many types of meds (natural and prescribed), but this works the best! I feel like I have to jump through hoops to get it prescribed though!! DRs don’t like to prescribe bc it has butalbital/! Smh!”

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Pain: “Have taken Fiorinal in capsule form for over 30 years. Originally to stop migraines and relief from chronic headaches. After doctors trying all types of meds including beta blockers and antidepressants a pain specialist had me take it 4x a day to help prevent and treat headaches. 8 years ago I developed carpal tunnel, tendonitis and bilateral neuropathy. Multiple surgeries failed and I can't take steroid shots. I didn't realize it but the Fiorinal has been really muting the pain in my arms, wrists and hands. Recent blood tests showed kidney issues and because of the aspirin they told me to stop the Fiorinal until they can determine the cause. My pain in hands, wrists, and arms is tripled without the fiorinal. On Medicare it is not covered. 90 pills is almost $100. I use the a pharmacy discount card which is then $67.”

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Headache: “I have taken fiorinal for 15+ years with no issues. It works well with no side effects. I take it when a headache arises, works fast as well. Sad that now its hard to get because of all the abusers of meds .”

Butalbital Compound (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine: “Butalbital is my go-to migraine medicine! Thank goodness my OBGYN prescribes it for me. Aspirin and a cold coca-cola help with light headaches. A good nights sleep and a regular sleep cycle are critical. When you wake up, slowly ease up on 2 pillows and then get up 1-2 minutes later.”

Butalbital Compound (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine: “Life was awful due to never ending migraines. Went on vacation and never left my room. I was just dreading the thought of driving home. I use to take Midrin which mostly worked until the US Government outlawed it. Then 2 Excedrin and 1 Aleve with poor results and a upset feeling. I finally went to a Dr. who eventually prescribed Butalbital and it worked. 39 years later I'm still taking it. Some days need 2 for 90% relief and most days 1. I do have 2-3 day periods where I don't need it at all. Went on Medicare and had problems getting it even with a Dr.'s letter. 10 years later a simple letter does the trick. I hope my letter helps someone get relief from their Migraines!”

For Migraine: “I have suffered from migraines since I was 8 years old. I am 51 now. After aspirin stopped working a doctor prescribed Fiorinal #3. This medication works after 30 minutes. Menopause has increased the intensity and duration of my migraines. I have to take Fiorinal once a day now. If it was not for this medication I would be in bed unable to work and support myself.”

Butalbital Compound (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine: “Have used butalbital for 8 years. The only drug that has ever worked to alleviate migraine pain. Now it won't be prescribed because it is classified as a "rescue drug". Well, so "rescue ME" from the pain I've experienced from me late teens until now age 64! I have run the gamut of the other migraine meds -18- at last count. Even called the FDA to no avail.”

Butalbital Compound (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Headache: “I have been taking a Butalbatol compound with actominaphen and caffeine as needed for 3 years to resolve migraine headaches. I have been thru the gamut of other pain meds prescribed by several neurologists, but Butalbatol is the only one that works in the short term. Also I notice it is not addictive.”

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine: “I have had a history of migraines since I was young. Fiorinal is the only drug that will stop my headache. When this migraine starts I have to take a fiorinal, lie down in a dark room, and close out any noise. Sometimes I will have a headache for several days which will finally end with a migraine. Humana is refusing to pay for fiorinal even though I have a doctor's order for it, Whoever is responsible for this must never have had a migraine..I'd like to trade my day with them.”
