Amphetamine for ADHD "As an adult with ADHD, I love this medication because it allows me to adjust the dosage as needed. I don't take my medication on weekends and on holidays. So when I get back on my meds for work, I can start out with a lower dosage rather than shocking my system with my regular high dosage. It's the best medication overall in terms of allowing me to concentrate and not making me into a zombie, allowing me to eat even with a decreased appetite, and not making me an insomniac. However, this medication is WAY too expensive. The new manufacturer's coupon is pitiful, covering only up to a max of $140 when the medication itself is over $400. Previously, I was only paying $20 per month for my prescription the coupon. Of course, my insurance company wants me to use other (cheaper) drugs that I've tried, but don't work for me in terms of helping me concentrate and/or the side effects are too strong. Insurance companies need to stop trying to play doctor and give patients the medications that they need."

Amphetamine for ADHD "My 7-year-old daughter has severe ADHD. Prior to Dyanavel XR, our best experience was with 30 mg of Adderall XR. But that had a profound effect on her appetite and ability to interact with other people. We tried Concerta, which left her very defiant, Focalin and Vyvanse were completely ineffective. We tried Dyanavel for the first time one month ago. I can't believe the difference. She has an appetite, she socializes, she has a personality, she stays in her seat at school, and actually works on her assignments. After 4 days on this medication, her teacher called me and asked what had changed because she couldn't believe the difference. The only downfall is nighttime. She consistently wakes up around 4-5 am with dreams."

For Narcolepsy "This medicine changed my life - I have chronic fatigue and I take it because I am constantly tired and have no energy. This has given me the energy I need to be a mom and a normal human being. This is the first stimulant I tried. My doctor prescribed me Adderall. After my insurance wouldn't cover it, there are major differences. Adderall XR makes me on edge and nasty, but the Adzenys doesn't give me any side effects besides appetite loss. I'll take this forever."

Amphetamine for ADHD "Having a high metabolism, my medications wear off very quickly. Dr. and I talked about trying Evekeo, but decided to try adding one more dose of Adderall XR to the mix. When that didn’t help, I tried Evekeo and discontinued the Adderall XR but kept the afternoon doses of IR. As for Evekeo, I had a very bad reaction to it. My face broke out, and not pimples but sores that are now going to scar. My depression (which I haven’t had in a while due to the consistency of taking medication) was three times worse, I went to a very dark place. I went days without sleeping, no motivation or drive to do anything, very irritable, very mean, not social at all, terrible intrusive thinking, pushed away anyone that was close to me, no appetite at all, headaches, muscle soreness, and vomiting/diarrhea. Thankfully, we stopped the medication, but I don’t want to feel like this ever again!"

Amphetamine for ADHD "My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD a few years ago (she's 13 now) and was on Adderall XR 25 mg for a few years. She was never hungry and had a hard time sleeping. We switched her to Adzenys XR 12.5 (lower than her Adderall dose equivalent). It doesn't seem to last as long -- but then again, it's not as strong. The good thing is her appetite is back, and she doesn't have trouble sleeping. She also doesn't complain about not feeling like herself (she is usually a pretty happy kid but complained the Adderall made her withdrawn). She's doing fairly good in school, though she has some learning challenges in some areas. Although she's only been on it a few months, I am relatively happy with the results."

Amphetamine for ADHD "This is the only medication we've tried so far for my 11-year-old son, but it works. His schoolwork has done a 180-degree turn since we started on Dyanavel. The only downside is the flavor, which he hates, but he's motivated, so he takes it anyway. We haven't had any negative side effects other than reduced appetite in the first few months of taking the medication. He's back to raiding the fridge 24/7 now, though."

Amphetamine for ADHD "I'm on day 2 of Adzenys. I like that I take it once. But the texture is gritty once dissolved. It's a dissolvable pill, so what do you expect? I do experience dry mouth and a slight decrease in appetite, but it's nothing serious. My doctor started me on a pediatric dose of 6.3 milligrams once a day. Another problem I see is that I'm having a hard time falling asleep. It could be because I take the medication around 11 o'clock in the morning, but that's the time I get up. So it's honestly too early for me to tell. We will see once I get a routine going and school starts again."

Amphetamine for ADHD "Tried all these different medicines and found Vyvanse XR worked perfect until insurance didn’t cover it anymore, so I took Concerta, and that basically made my heart rate go up to 170 BPM, and it was ridiculous. So I tried a newer medication, Evekeo, and it’s good but causes a hell of a withdrawal, including anger, diarrhea, dizziness, nausea, and loss of appetite, but for the most part, it’s good."

Amphetamine for ADHD "My 9-year-old has been struggling with staying focused at school. I gave him a very small dose of Dyanavel XR, and it had no effect on his focus. I increased the dose to 3.5 ml, and I received a message from his teacher informing me that he had a great day at school. He finished all work in class on time, raised his hand to answer questions, and participated in class discussions. I cried happy tears. He has only been taking it for a few days, but I can't wait to see what he does for the rest of the school year. He did say that he wasn't very hungry at lunch, so it may possibly affect his appetite."

Amphetamine for ADHD "I've been on a variety of ADHD medications, the last being Vyvanse. They have all basically been the same for me, with a somewhat high, nice focus window, and then a crash. Vyvanse lasted way too long, I had a fight-or-flight feeling in my chest nonstop, and then it made me depressed when it wore off, which lasted a while. Adderall was too short, and I didn't like crashing twice a day (2 pills). Adzenys XR-ODT is a good middle. Still crashes, still appetite suppression, but it is smoother and doesn't last 20 hrs like Vyvanse. The only issue I have with it is it is extremely hard to locate, and I have had to drive 40 minutes to a pharmacy to get it on occasion. It also comes in a large inconvenient box, instead of a pill bottle. The biggest struggle with ADHD medications is while they help me focus, they do not help me choose my focus. I can play Xbox for 5 hours straight or do housework for 5 hours straight, and I have to dictate the right choice myself."
