For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on day 4 and unsure if I can continue the course. Since day one, I have had fatigue, severe nausea, and a horrible taste in my mouth as if I just chewed up a Tylenol. I take the meds with food and have taken probiotics, but I am still miserable. Last night was the worst, I woke up and felt horrendous - had a migraine, extreme nausea, overwhelming bad taste, extreme weakness, chills, vomited 3 times. I’m not sure if I have ever felt so bad. I was going to give up this morning, but have pushed myself to continue. The days seem to be better than the nights, but I am praying tonight will go better than last. From reading the other comments, the drugs apparently affect people differently, but I have been an unlucky one. My mother had H. pylori and was treated in the early 90s. She couldn’t make it through the drug regimen and has struggled ever since with heartburn, acid reflux, and ulcers, so I am going to do my best to keep going."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "So when I first started, I was only prescribed clarithromycin, pantoprazole, and Pepto-Bismol (which I took 2 hours after meds). Always allow two hours before or after meds if your treatment includes Pepto-Bismol. Apparently, if taken at the same time, it will hinder the treatment process. The first day, I had this horrible taste in my mouth, a racing heart, and a slight headache. After that, the taste was still there, but I got used to it. Then, I had to get amoxicillin added because the other prescribing doctor should’ve given me that to begin with. I have no side effects at all besides the bad taste when I lay down. My symptoms of H. pylori went away within a few days of starting these medications. MAKE SURE YOU EAT BEFORE OR DURING THE TIME YOU TAKE YOUR MEDS. I believe this is why I had no symptoms, and I have a very weak stomach in general. Good luck, everyone waiting to get tested again myself."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I started my H. pylori treatment on July 23, and all was well until day 4 of treatment, which was July 27. I started feeling tired, lightheaded, restless at night, and had a very bad taste in my mouth. So the reviews here are very valid, not to scare you from taking the treatment, but it is a bit much. I'm on day 5 and still feel the same way. I am hoping it doesn't last."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Diagnosed with H. pylori. I have the PrevPac. Woke up in the middle of the night choking due to vomit. Vomited multiple times. Nausea, diarrhea, and a bad taste in mouth. Only on day 2, and I am miserable."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Everyone of us responds differently to antibiotics. I, for one, took the recommended treatment and was absolutely fine, my only downside was the bitter taste, but I would rather have that than the horrendous symptoms. Plus, if you stick with it, you do actually start to feel better than beforehand."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "14 days on the 3 antibiotics was awful for me. Felt nauseous, had diarrhea, but the worst part was the bitter/sour taste in my mouth 24/7. I have to repeat the stool test in 3 weeks and hope it comes back normal this time."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Day 4 on Nexium HP 7, what a horrible bitter taste in my mouth. I can’t sleep on the bed due to bitterness in the mouth, the feeling in my mouth cavity is that it is full of poison, having sometimes lollies or chocolate, taking probiotics yogurt. I am sitting on the chair for two hours sleep every night, no other symptoms. I wish I could stop taking it but I can't quit, this bacteria is encouraging me to do so. Good luck and be brave if you are on these antibiotics."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I want to help you with side effects! I recently got diagnosed with H. pylori, and let me tell you it was horrible. These were my symptoms: dull stomach pain, feeling full, loss of appetite, yellowish stool with white specks, bad taste in mouth especially in the morning, nausea all the time especially in the morning, night sweats with intense nausea and bad taste in mouth, dull pain in stomach sometimes especially in the morning. Talking a lot made my voice hoarse. Extreme dull lower back pain! And the shakes. Now I’m on day 3 of my treatment. I was feeling way better just after my first dose of my antibiotics (metronidazole 500 mg 4x/day, doxycycline 100 mg 2x/day, omeprazole 20 mg 2x/day, Pepto 2 tablets 4x/day). After my second day of treatment, I was feeling horrible: extreme nausea, diarrhea, and extreme panic attacks. Long story short, you have to take probiotics! Not just any, the right probiotics! Here’s the list: Saccharomyces Boulardii (Amazon), Yakult, and Activia (grocery store)."
