Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on my 5th day of the 14-day treatment and am beginning to feel better. I read the effects of this drug and was very apprehensive about taking it. However, I am pleased to report that my side effects are minimal. They include slightly bad taste, slight nausea, and constipation. I'll report back upon the conclusion of my treatment."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I'm on day 3 of these medicines. The first 2 days, my energy levels were very high, and clarity in my whole body seemed to be back after months of feeling crappy. H. pylori test was positive, so as stated above, I'm taking this medicine. SIDE EFFECTS: On day 3, I took the medicine around 6 am and took a nap at 9 am. I woke up with a taste of medicine in my mouth (the taste where your first attempt to swallow a pill and it doesn't work, so you get that nasty pill taste). I think this has something to do with falling asleep, like my body isn't in awake mode, so it pumps the medicine in a sleep cycle style. I'm just assuming here, but besides the nasty taste, no other side effects at the moment. Eating a banana seemed to help with the taste."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Diagnosed with Helicobacter pylori. Oh dear! Four more days to go on the antibiotic combo: amoxicillin, clarithromycin, lansoprazole. The bitter taste in my mouth is awful. Wake up having to chew mint gum, 3 am. I am eating rock melon."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on day 3 out of 14, and I am so miserable. I don't want to continue it, but I have to :'( I pass really stinky gas, horrible diarrhea, nausea, feeling tired most of the time, but worst of all is the weird taste in my mouth. Oh God, when I wake up to it... Probably the reason why I feel so nauseated. Drinking a lot of water, eating candy (tiny M&Ms that come in bottles. For some reason, it helped me... weird, I know), and Listerine PocketPaks all help me with the disgusting, nasty taste so far. I hope it's worth it. I give it a five because of the side effects, but the treatment better be a 10... I sure hope it's worth it :'((("

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Soooo... after reading all the negative comments on amoxicillin/clarithromycin/lansoprazole, I can't say I disagree, however, it is definitely doable. I had to miss work due to bad abdominal cramping on day 3, and waking up with that nasty taste is whack. My appetite is fine, frankly, my cravings are always through the roof, and sadly my number one problem has only gotten worse... BLOATING. YETTTT... I am very positive, and it wasn't hard to get through, just an annoying inconvenience. Like an annoying toddler tugging at your trousers, who you need to remember to wake up every morning and put to bed every night. My course was 7 days, didn't take them at the same time every day, and for the clarithromycin, it was recommended to be taken every 12 hours, but my timing was not good. I also didn't follow the low FODMAP diet. Hopefully, an update will be pending and good results... even though I clearly wasn't perfect."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "My H. pylori treatment differs from most since I am allergic to amoxicillin. I take 6 pills a day: 3 in the morning, 3 at night for 2 weeks, which are lansoprazole, Flagyl, and clarithromycin. The first day I had bloating and that horrible taste in my mouth, it didn’t taste metallic, but very sour. On the 2nd day I felt dizzy and nauseous and had a racing heartbeat when I tried to go to bed. I’m halfway through, and I still have bloating, a little appetite, nausea, and the aftertaste, no racing heart since the 2nd day, though. Yogurt and milk are helpful to settle your tummy. I’m hoping after the pills are all done, I will feel much better! Since I used to get on and off nausea and heartburn before I started treatment. Just keep taking the meds and suffer through the side effects. Also, the 3 meds I was prescribed cost me $122, I do not have insurance."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I'm on the last day of a 14-day treatment. A little bad taste, but it didn't last long. Doctor must have faith in Prevpac because I asked if I need to be retested, and he said no. A routine colonoscopy/upper endoscopy showed the presence of H. pylori. Still not sure how I was infected, I had an endoscopy 5 years ago and didn't have it then. My wife said better me than her, she could never have taken all this medication and was amazed at how well I tolerated the Prevpac 14-day treatment."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "After a year and a half of in-and-out stomach issues, the symptoms got worse and I got an emergency colonoscopy. After biopsy, H. pylori was proven. Was very happy to be diagnosed, but the next 14 days were so hard. I'm on the last day of treatment and still have nausea, tiredness, and headaches. Tired to an extent that I cannot walk more than 2 minutes. Not to mention the bad taste in my mouth. In between, my headache was so bad that I felt my brain was exploding. Got an urgent acupuncture done to get back to life. Then came Mother Nature, periods. The worst combination ever. Now I am afraid whether all these symptoms will go away and I can get back to normal. Fingers crossed this is the worst treatment."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I too have H. pylori, my symptoms were fatigue and a periodic bad taste in my mouth. Since I was on medication for my liver, I called and asked, “Are the liver meds causing this?” I was directed to Quest for a breath test. Proof positive! The three meds in conjunction are disgusting! In previous reads, I agree the road to wellness is far worse than the symptoms!"

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Yearlong pain was gone by day 3. But on day 4, the horrible side effects started. The awful taste in my mouth at all times, worsening constipation, headband headache, and up all night with insomnia. If it wasn't worth it to get rid of this stomach infection, I would quit taking this med. That's how bad these side effects combined are for me. If it was just one, and not at all the up all night insomnia, I would be much better."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "First day I took the drug, I was already feeling like not eating, which was a bad idea because my blood sugar dropped twice, but I got better after eating some desserts. That was only the first day, though. The next morning I feel instantly better. Also, experience an odd bitter taste in the mouth every day now. Around day 5, I had this weird thick film of yellow stuff on my tongue, and I had to use a towel to scrape it completely off. I feel weak from taking this medication and have trouble getting out of bed, which makes driving pretty dangerous. Terrible hiccups and burps the first few days, which I hated, but that has gone before day 6. I still feel discomfort if I don't eat. My taste buds are completely changed. I've been craving spicy foods, and my tolerance for them went up significantly. The bloating in my stomach went down since day 2. For the first time in years, my belly is squishy to the touch. Currently on day 7, will update later."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was struggling with acid reflux for 2 months, so I finally got the endoscopy and biopsy done. It was H. Pylori, unfortunately. I am on day 2 of my 14 days of medication, and these medicines have given me diarrhea, bloating, gas (slight irritating pain in chest), headache, weakness, bitter taste, etc. It's really annoying to eat so many medicines, I really hope I get better after this. Does anyone have any idea for how to reduce bloating and gas when on this medication?"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I'm on day one and feeling terrible. Gas, stomach cramps, nasty taste in my mouth, and I cannot sleep. If I didn't have to go to work for the next 2 weeks of this treatment, I'd feel better about it. I really didn't even think about having these nasty side effects until they happened, and I came here to see everyone else's experience. If this doesn't cure the H. pylori, I don't even know what I'm going to do. Dealing with H. pylori sucks so bad, but damn, this treatment is rough, and I'm only on day one. Can't lie, this is horrible."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Had to stop after morning three-pack on day 13. Unbearable headache, worsened dizziness, nausea, insomnia, and horrible taste in mouth. I had to take it over Christmas, and it was horrible. Now switching over to naturopathic treatment of mastic gum and Laurcidin (brand of monolaurin). I have heard that using green tea along with those two is helpful. Good luck, everyone! It also helps not to eat the foods that most feed unhealthy bacteria: sugar (with the exception of fruit), wheat, corn, dairy, and alcohol."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "On the fifth dose, so going into day three. I am so, so sleepy, cannot keep my eyes open. Sleeping most of the day and night, just totally exhausted, can just about drag myself out of bed for the loo. Very pale pee, and yesterday one bout of very bad diarrhea, no movement since, causing more cramping. Awful taste in my mouth, but thank God no nausea. Taking the stomach tablet one hour after antibiotics, and then probiotic after another hour. Seems to be helping. Had this treatment 11/12 years ago for Helicobacter pylori and was very sick with it. Hoping after the 7th day, when I can stop one of the antibiotics, the overwhelming tiredness goes. Pains still there, but not as severe, lots of burping and wind as always."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I started the treatment 3 days ago. The first day, I had a bad taste in my mouth with increased saliva and at times difficult to swallow. The second day was just the same, but I had insomnia, waking up every 2 hours throughout the night. Currently on day 3, and I still have the same symptoms. I chewed gum when I had a bad taste in my mouth, and it seemed to help. I have been on a bland diet and no caffeine since I started. Hopefully, this treatment is successful for H. pylori. I will update after the medication is finished."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I have been on this regimen for 2 days, stomach ache, bitter taste, and headache. I hope it works. Have had stomach aches that wake me up at night and bloating for over 2 months, and after an endoscopic biopsy, diagnosed with H. Pylori. I really hope this works."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Was diagnosed after an endoscopy. Dr. put me on medication straight away. I've always had a good probiotic, and I think this may be the reason why I actually feel better. Though the bad taste in mouth is awful, I have stopped coughing, and my voice is no longer croaky. I still need a follow-up, but I do feel better."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I'm on day 6 of 10. Day 1, I had that horrible taste in my mouth, and that went away. Day 2 and 3, no symptoms at all. Then day 4 to 6, so far I have a mild sore throat, insomnia, and very large stool (sorry for that), no diarrhea. 4 more days to go, hope this bacteria will go away."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Today is barely my first day, and I’m struggling. I have horrible stomach pain and this terrible taste in my mouth that won’t go away. And when I burp, I can taste the antibiotics, which sucks. Also, when I breathe, it feels a bit weird, almost like the antibiotics coated my airways. I feel very tired and very hungry. The effects kick in at about two hours. I thought I had gotten lucky, but sadly no. And I see a lot of people saying to eat yogurt, but with this stupid bacteria taking away my ability to eat a lot of dairy products (including yogurt), I can’t eat it. I will look for probiotics though. I’m not looking forward to the next 13 days, I already want to quit, but I hope it gets cured. Because the pain has been unbearable for these past 4 months."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "On day six of my treatment, I am still experiencing a burning sensation all over my body. During the endoscopy procedure, the doctor took biopsies from three parts of my abdomen, which exacerbated my pain. Every night, I wake up with pain in my left waist, hips, and mouth with a bitter taste. I am concerned about the possibility of developing kidney problems, and I urge people to be cautious and mindful of the food they eat. This sickness is a result of my carelessness, and I am also suffering from a UTI due to the medication. It is better to prevent these illnesses rather than deal with them after the fact. Therefore, people should consider changing their lifestyles because everything happens for a reason."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "On Day 6 of the 14-day treatment. The side effects I've experienced haven't been too bad: the bad taste in my mouth (usually at night and first thing in the morning), hard time staying asleep (insomnia), yellow stools, and some left-side aches, which I think may have to do with constipation. I'm sure I would be worse if I didn't take a probiotic with every dose of these meds."
