For Osteoporosis "Did not do well on Tymlos. High 24 hr. urine Ca. scores - hypercalciuria. Started Tymlos June 2019, stopped April 11, 2020. Other issues: cramps in legs, mental fog starting second month, joint pain in hands, tiredness on a daily basis. Got new rheumatologist, second opinion. Started Prolia today. Should have monitored bone markers more carefully both before and during treatment of Tymlos. Now I know. New doc. will do blood tests and urine every 3 months. Tymlos not for me."

For Osteoporosis "I started Tymlos on 3/12/20 and decided to discontinue it due to heart palpitations and anxiety. I also had terrible insomnia with it. I took the injection at night before bed, but when I tried taking the injection in the morning, I would have to lie down because it made me so tired (go figure). With all of the COVID-19 worries, I sure don't need my heart racing any more than it already is. Also, the black box warning of osteosarcoma worries me a lot, frankly."

For Osteoporosis "I am just now starting my 4th month. I don’t have any serious side effects; however, I was already being treated for heart palpitations, so that may be why! I do get tired during the day. Sometimes I feel like I can 'feel my bones.' My problem areas include my spine -4.7 and my hip. I plan to have a bone scan after 6 months to see if there’s been progress. If not, I’ll need to make a decision of whether or not to continue. I take my injections in the morning."

For Osteoporosis "I have been using Tymlos for 5 months and started out at only 1/2 dose '4' clicks. Tried to raise the dose every week, but when I got to '6' clicks, brain fog, dizziness, and exhaustion were too overwhelming, had difficulty walking and driving a car. So I went down to '5' clicks for the last 2 months. Even this low dose, I am exhausted, needing naps every day. Now, in the 5th month, pain in lower back is excruciating! I need a heating pad in the morning in order to be able to roll over, stand up, and walk. In addition, I have started to develop severe leg cramps at night that persist through the daytime. A nightmare. I am in communication with my doctor, we will see how this goes from here."

For Osteoporosis "I have been using Tymlos for 13 months. Shortly after I started it, I noticed that my abdomen was getting bigger and then I began to gain weight. I also noticed that I felt tired and did not have a lot of energy. As time has gone on, I feel drained by the middle of the day. Through these side effects, I continue to walk in the park 3 times per week for about 45 minutes and I do my P.T. at home. It is a struggle many days, but I just keep on keeping on! I will be very happy when I no longer have to use this medication and I don't plan on using any other medication after Tymlos. I take calcium and vitamin D twice a day and try hard to eat a high-protein diet."

For Osteoporosis "Took Tymlos for 2 months. I didn't know why I was so tired, and then I figured out it was the medication. Slept 11 hours per night for a few days and then figured it out that it was from Tymlos, so I stopped taking it. Also, I gained weight. I would not recommend it to anyone."

For Osteoporosis "I have been taking Tymlos for about 6 months now. I rarely had a side effect other than tiredness, until about 3 weeks ago, when I started having pain in my knees and legs. It gets difficult to work out or walk with this pain. I am taking Advil to help me, and I hope it gets better, I do not want to stop the medication. I hope it helps me with my osteo. Doing a scan after my first year of treatment to see if my bones have improved."

For Osteoporosis "Day 1: headache and tired (ibuprofen did not help). Day 2: severe headache almost immediately and really tired, dizzy, had to just lay down. Left a message for my doctor, but it’s the week between Christmas and New Year’s, so probably limited staff. Will these symptoms go away? I’m afraid to try day 3."

For Osteoporosis "Weight loss, dizziness, skin rash, lethargy, apathy, anhedonia. Most of this is tolerable. I’ve requested a bone scan after 6 months to see if it’s helping."

For Osteoporosis "I used Tymlos from Mar 22 to Feb 23. From the first injection, I experienced a rapid heart rate, dull aching in my mid-back kidney area, frequent urination, and some dizziness. I used it before bed due to the side effects. If I got up at night, I was often disoriented. The injections also sometimes caused bruising and pain. After 2 months, I began using it every other day due to the side effects, even though these were primarily at night. But I was really tired due to getting up at night to use the bathroom. I was optimistic about this drug as it is designed to grow bone, rather than just stop bone loss like biophosphonates, and I was willing to continue treatment for another year. Super disappointed with my DEXA bone scan results and stopped Tymlos due to essentially zero benefits: Hip: -2.9. Prior -2.8, slight decrease; Femoral neck: -3.4. Prior -2.9, major decrease; Lumbar spine: -2.2. Prior -2.2, no change. For me, Tymlos was not effective. Blessings on the journey toward stronger bones."
