For Osteoporosis "I did my first Tymlos injection in the evening before bedtime. Within minutes, I had unbearable, excruciating lower back pain. So extreme that I sat down in a chair, screaming in pain. My partner had to call 911. I was taken to the hospital where I was monitored for several hours until the pain went away. I normally have low blood pressure. Upon arrival in the ER, it was extremely high, dangerously so from the pain the drug caused me to have. I would never do that again. My prescribing doctor insisted that I must have injured my lower back simultaneously. I certainly did not. It was the Tymlos that caused the problem. The attending ER doctor advised me to never try that drug again as I had a severe allergic reaction to it. Would mention here that I have no other known allergies."

For Osteoporosis "I used Tymlos for approximately four months. After the first month and a half to two months, I started having really bad leg and back pain. The nurse practitioner convinced me to keep taking it, so I continued for another month and a half. However, the pain became unbearable, and I had to go to the emergency room. I was told that I was growing new bone in my legs, causing the pain to feel like growing pains. Despite this being the only side effect I experienced, the pain was so severe that I had to stop taking it as I couldn't endure it anymore, I was up every night."

For Osteoporosis "After the 1st injection, I had back and leg pain, headache, and heart pounding. The headache lasted about 20 hours along with an ill feeling. The next 2 injections, the back and leg pain were much less, but still the headache and slightly ill feeling. Now 8 days in, just slight pain and occasional heart pounding, but only for a short period of time."

For Osteoporosis "So I have been on Tymlos, and I agree with others commenting on the severe back pain! But why? I haven’t found an answer. Also, extreme dizziness. Like nothing I have experienced. All the time, not just after the shot. I’ve been taking it for 5 months. Not sure I can do it for the 2 years the doctor wants me to."

For Osteoporosis "I found out I had a T-score of 3.5 at age 55. They told me I have osteoporosis in my spine. I’ve been using Tymlos for almost two months. The first time I used it, I had what others mentioned: pain in the back. It was very intense. I tried it the following day, and it didn’t cause the same pain. Each day following was fine. I have minor back pain after each injection, but use a heating pad to relax it. It is bearable. I’ve heard such good results, so I’m looking forward to having a bone density scan after 18 months that I’m supposed to be on it."

For Osteoporosis "I've been on Tymlos for only 1 month. I had a spinal fracture in the past, as well as multiple other fractures from falling from a standing position. Anyway, I have back pain from fractures, but the back pain on Tymlos was so severe that I have stopped it. I had a headache after the injection, so I just took Tylenol. Fatigue was another problem, along with nausea. I took Zofran. I will ask my doctor to try Prolia. Oh, I am 69, diagnosed at 50 with osteoporosis, but was always afraid of side effects. Good luck."

For Osteoporosis "I have been prescribed Tymlos prior to upcoming hip replacement surgery. My first dosage was today. Slight headache, a bit of back pain, and some fatigue. My surgeon says Tymlos and Forteo are the only drugs that lay down strong bone. The others, such as Prolia, Fosamax, generate weak bones, hence the easy breaks while on them. I will continue to take Tymlos as long as I can afford it to build strong bone before and after my surgery. I have had one osteoporosis-involved fracture a year ago when I fell and broke my pelvis. Not fun. We will see if this helps."

For Osteoporosis "I have been using Tymlos for 5 months and started out at only 1/2 dose '4' clicks. Tried to raise the dose every week, but when I got to '6' clicks, brain fog, dizziness, and exhaustion were too overwhelming, had difficulty walking and driving a car. So I went down to '5' clicks for the last 2 months. Even this low dose, I am exhausted, needing naps every day. Now, in the 5th month, pain in lower back is excruciating! I need a heating pad in the morning in order to be able to roll over, stand up, and walk. In addition, I have started to develop severe leg cramps at night that persist through the daytime. A nightmare. I am in communication with my doctor, we will see how this goes from here."

For Osteoporosis "I was on Tymlos for a month and a half. The first week, I noticed no side effects. Then, I had the most painful lower back spasms and pain, which actually took me to the floor screaming in pain. This occurred about 7 times, then subsided to occasional and tolerable lower back pain. I had never experienced lower back pain before taking this drug. I began having daily nausea and aching joints all over my body, especially in my hands, wrists, elbows, and feet. At times, this joint pain was almost unbearable. My hair became very brittle. I felt as if I had a UTI, and when my urine was tested at the doctor's office, no infection showed, but blood was detected in my urine. I really thought I was losing my mind. This is my third day of not administering the drug, and I am feeling better, but I am still having the lower back pain and joint pain like I have never had to endure before in my life. I am praying my body completely recovers from this drug. My advice is to AVOID Tymlos."

For Osteoporosis "I have been injecting Tymlos in the evening and having severe back pain in the morning. The body pain has been increasing. Without moving, I can feel my legs and feet hurt. My hips are 3.7, and I was hoping this was the drug that would help me. The results from my recent lab work showed an increase in ALP. My endocrinologist switched me to Tymlos because it doesn’t require refrigeration. My latest ALP increased from 128 to 202 after 6 weeks of treatment. From what I’ve read, it looks like it’s time to give it up."

For Osteoporosis "I'm on my fifth injection. My numbers were 4.7 in the left hip. My calcium and vitamin D are excellent, so I can't improve with nutrition. I didn't get any instructions; the VA sent me the pen and, later, the needles. When I asked for instruction, they told me to look at the YouTube videos, which I did. Bunches of them, but they don't tell you where to inject or what to look for after. No one mentions all the stuff you all are telling me. So, I'm sorry, but glad to hear the back pain, palpitations, insomnia, brain fog, general malaise, severe headache, and pains in my legs and ankles are fairly typical. I'm not surprised at the health care professionals dismissing our concerns. After all, years of living with the pain of a condition and knowing our own bodies are not equivalent to that two-week course the health provider took. I experience burning and itching at the injection site that seems to grow bigger with each injection. It was the first time the needle actually hurt... a lot."

For Osteoporosis "Just started the first injection today. The nurse came to my house and showed me how to inject. She left around 20 minutes after the injection. Almost immediately, I started hurting extremely bad in my lower back. I took 2 Tylenol, and after close to 2 hours later, I am feeling almost normal. As much as I don’t want osteoporosis, I don’t think I can continue this drug."

For Osteoporosis "I was on Tymlos for 2 years. It was a game changer for me, where my T score improved significantly. While on it, after the injection, I did have lower back pain for a few minutes. My doctor recommended I do the injection at night before bed to alleviate some of that. That helped, and the pain is short-lived. I would continue to take this if I could, but I did my 2 years already. Now I am on Reclast infusion every year, which has also been great."

For Osteoporosis "I was on Tymlos for 3 months with the normal heart racing, heavy chest side effects, but the side effect that made me discontinue the drug was I woke up one morning after taking it for 3 months with severe back pain that I had not experienced before. The pain has continued for 2 months now. I have had some confirmed back problems for the last 5 years, but after much physical therapy and daily exercise, I have been pain-free for at least 3 years, and then this suddenly happened basically while I was sleeping. I had an MRI done, and my back condition had not worsened on MRI, so my spine doctor and endocrinologist both said to quit Tymlos. I am getting ready to start on Evenity. I hope I have better luck with that."

For Osteoporosis "I am on my second pen. I have experienced palpitations, nausea, and headache, which are tolerable. But, I have the bone pain others mentioned. The pain occurs randomly, in different areas: ankle, hip, legs, etc. I too had an episode of back pain, I thought I fractured my spine, but it resolved in 24 hours. I also notice that the first void after injecting is cloudy. Has anyone experienced that? Also, each injection burns, has anyone else experienced that?"

For Osteoporosis "Just started. Full dose 2nd day. Immediately after injection, intense lower back pain. Followed by racing heart, followed by headache. Can't imagine keeping this up. Haven't decided if I will skip a day or cut the dose in half or both, but if I can't get these issues to resolve, then I will be done with Tymlos."

For Osteoporosis "I just took my first injection and had intense lower back pain like a spasm; it took my breath. My doctor said it was not associated with the medication. The next night wasn’t so intense and lasted a shorter period. Slight headache as well. The list of side effects doesn’t mention intense back pain. My doctor strongly suggested I continue to see if the side effects go away or become tolerable. Has anyone else experienced this?"
