For Anxiety "To cut a long story short, NOTHING ELSE HAS EVER WORKED AS QUICK AND AS EFFECTIVE AS THIS MEDICATION FOR ME PERSONALLY FOR SEVERE DEPRESSION AND OR LACK OF BRAIN ENERGY. I've tried at least 5 of the mainstream top draw Antidepressants. I hope and pray my GP doesn't take me off the 100 mgs a day for fear of addiction. When is the medical and pharmaceutical community going to wake up to the amazing healing power of tramadol..."

Ultram (tramadol) for Chronic Pain "I've been taking tramadol for back and knee pain from a motorcycle accident for over a year. It is a great pain reliever that eliminates 90% of my pain issues without making me feel drowsy like hydrocodone or oxycodone. It controls my pain and I can still live my normal life."

For Back Pain "Tramadol has made all the difference for me, living with chronic pain from spinal stenosis. I take 50 mg with gabapentin to sleep at night, another 50 mg when it wears off and I wake up in the wee hours of the morning, then 50 mg to get me up and going. Once I'm up and focused on work, I can usually get through the day without any more. Without it, I probably would not be able to sleep at night or work in the day. It doubles as an antidepressant, but for me pain and depression are so interconnected that it's hard to distinguish them."

Ultram (tramadol) for Pain "I am 29 years old. I have fibromyalgia and hypermobility disorder. Without this drug, I would be worthless. I used to be a grumpy person that could not accomplish anything without major difficulty. I have taken Ultram ER 300 for the last 3 years. I have never been without this medicine for more than 12 hours. I am now 3 days off this medicine because I ran out by accident. This has been the most miserable experience of my life. I am on the verge of getting written up at work. I cannot focus. I feel horrible. I can't go to sleep at night, and I can't wake up in the morning. This is truly miserable. I feel as if I am being hit by a truck several times a day."

For Anxiety "I was having severe menstrual cramps, and took this. Though it did nothing for my pain, the effect it had on my mood was amazing. I have suffered with severe mood issues most of my adult life, and none of the many antidepressants I have tried did anything to help. Within an hour of taking it, I felt normal for the first time in 15 years. I talked to my physician, and she agreed to prescribe it off label to treat my mood disorder. I have been taking the same dose of 50 mg, three times a day for the last three years, and I am doing great."

For Anxiety "The fact of the matter is this Tramadol is a wonder drug. These so-called drugs that are supposed to help you with your mental health are not cutting it. I'm an ex-heroin addict in recovery and had back surgery. I've been on all kinds of drugs for my mental health. I work with my psychiatrist on my head and have not found anything that helps like this. I'm aware that I could get addicted to this, but so far, so good. If you are an open book with everyone around you and keep it real, this is a very beneficial drug. This drug should be given to help people in many ways. Thank you."

For Fibromyalgia "I have had Fibromyalgia for 15 years. Tramadol not only gives me my life back, but is the ONLY medication that has helped my depression incredibly. I could not continue working without this med. Has helped MORE than other pain meds which I've been on every single pill out there."

For Anxiety "After taking so many antidepressants like sertraline, Lexapro with huge side effects, and ayurvedic products with little effects, yoga, meditation, and everything possible to treat my GAD, I tried Tramazac (tramadol HCl) based on reviews of people here. I took the first dose of 50 mg. After 2 hours, this medicine did miracles. It took away my anxiety, sad mood, and I felt so happy. I took it at 8 pm in the evening, and its effects lasted until the next morning. I did not expect such positive results in just a few hours. I will continue this. However, I have read that this is habit-forming, so I will take care not to take it daily. Antidepressants are also habit-forming, their withdrawal is not very easy. But this medicine is too effective with no side effects. I thank all the people here. I will continue to share my experience further."

For Depression "After hurting my back, hips, and developing sciatica from lifting people in hospitals/nursing homes/rehab/home care, I was given Ultram for the excruciating pain. It worked wonderfully without the dopiness associated with narcotics. I had also suffered from depression since I was a child and had been through numerous meds that didn't work or made my life even worse. Tramadol is the only med that I have taken that has successfully treated both my chronic pain as well as my depression, allowing the sun to shine in my life."

For Anxiety "I have suffered with anxiety for as long as I can remember. I have tried quite a lot of anti-anxiety medications. Those medications did help with the anxiety but left me feeling a bit foggy. I was prescribed tramadol for pain relief, as a pain reliever, it was okay. What I did notice was my anxiety was gone and I felt very calm, not out of it, just calm and focused with a very positive outlook. Hopefully more research will be done as it would seem I'm not the only person who has experienced this."

For Anxiety "I started taking tramadol after my gastroenterologist told me that I needed to immediately stop taking ibuprofen. I had developed a pre-ulcer condition due to all the ibuprofen I had been taking for headaches that I got pretty often. So I began to take tramadol instead for headaches and for arthritis pain. After about a week of taking tramadol 50mg, I realized that I was feeling happier than I had felt in a very long time. I had been under the care of a psychiatrist for years due to anxiety and depression and had been on so many antidepressants that I lost count. None of them worked for me. So when I realized how good I was feeling, I researched tramadol for depression and voila! I found out that it was actually helping many people."

For Depression "Have taken tramadol in the past. It literally saved my life when I was going through severe depression while slowly recovering from a traumatic injury. My doctor at the time put me on a light dose of tramadol to help with my somber mood. I was alive again. Nowadays, it's virtually impossible to get any doctor to prescribe this. I've tried multiple antidepressants over the last several years and they do nothing for me. Tramadol's the best—for me at least."

For Anxiety "I've tried over 15 anti-anxiety and antidepressant medications for over 20 years, along with thousands of hours of talk therapy. Last year, I tried Tramadol for anxiety, and it works for me. I take no other drugs, only 150mg of Tramadol pretty much daily. My PCP of many years is on board with the off-label use of Tramadol for this reason. I have no side effects except for a few intestinal 'grumbles' now and then. I'm very pleased after all these years to have something that works. I feel like I can breathe easier, less fear, more positive, more relaxed but in a good way. Not sedated or sleepy. Able to do things on my own. I hope it works for others that have been drug-resistant to all the typical drugs."

For Chronic Pain "I have serious pain in my feet due to pes cavus (high arches). The pain is in the metatarsals of both feet, but especially the dominant right foot. Before retirement, I took 400 mg of Tramadol every morning to get me through the day, teaching high-school English. My teaching style was peripatetic, continually on my feet to manage my classes. Moreover, it was so painful to drive, I had to use a specially designed hand tool to depress the brake pedal. Tramadol got me through the last five years of my job. (The pain didn't kick in until I was in my fifties). I had no side effects. Tramadol is still effective for me, but it is hard to get a prescription. When there's an 'opioid epidemic,' everyone must suffer."

For Depression "I was first prescribed Tramadol as an add-on drug with my Vicodin due to a serious injury in a car accident. I also suffer from depression and acute anxiety most of my life with panic attacks. The Vicodin worked at first and then made me sick. I would vomit from it sometimes, then it quit working. I took the tramadol once a day usually in the morning and stopped after a month or so because I felt it wasn't doing anything. Man, was I wrong. My injuries healed and I stopped the Vicodin. Upon reading more about Tramadol, I discovered it acts as a Serotonin and Norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. So it acts as an antidepressant as well as a 'semi-opiate.' Tramadol itself is not an opiate. Your body converts it into one, similar to Nucynta. Great drug."

For Depression "My life was gray on everything, my mood was bad, depressed, and emotional about having to sweep my own floor. I talked to my primary care doctor and asked about tramadol, and he said great things. I now take 6 a day and have been a different person. I now have energy, patience, and I'm a better father who plays with his kids again. Saved my life."

For Anxiety "I have had pretty bad anxiety over the past 5 years, had occasional panic attacks and trouble leaving my comfort zone. I was on Lexapro, which did nothing but make me fat. I also have a bulged disc and was prescribed this in lieu of stronger opiates like Vicodin and Percocet. To me this medicine is a miracle. I am happy always, never anxious, and never feel uncomfortable, even when I am doing things I don't enjoy."

For Anxiety "I've tried over 13 medications for anxiety, and none have worked, not even the popular benzodiazepines. I tried 100 mg of Tramadol, and I felt the weight lifted from me. I felt like I could breathe easier and relax. It's the only thing that has worked. I'm looking for a doctor now who has experience with long-term use or perhaps a doctor that can recommend a medication knowing that Tramadol works for me."

Ultram (tramadol) for Back Pain "I have had a degenerative disc for almost 10 years, and have taken Ultram for the past year and a half. For almost 8 years, due to no insurance, I took nothing and lived with the pain. No narcotic, such as hydrocodone, has ever touched the pain, but Ultram completely eradicates the pain! It helps my mood and I'm able to work long hours with no pain. As of July 1, 2014, it is a Schedule 4 narcotic, and now I'm unsure whether I'll be able to get the dosage I need."

For Depression "I went from one antidepressant to another. SSRIs (multiple), TCAs, SNRIs. Nothing worked and, like others, my moods were up and down the whole time. Twice a day, Tramadol has kept me symptom-free for 5 years now. Amazing."

For Fibromyalgia "I prescribe Tramadol for patients, for some it does not work because you must have the enzyme to convert it. For the people who have the converting protein, it is a wonder medicine. For many with fibromyalgia & chronic pain, it works well and allows them to continue working & activities. For all medications, there are reasonable limits to the amount used, and precautions for some when tapering and discontinuing. With Tramadol, slowly taper and discontinue, do not stop cold turkey. I found Tramadol to be effective with 1 or 2 tablets (50 mg) a day, occasionally on a severe pain day I must take up to 200 mg in 24 hours. 4 days a week I only take 1 tab!"

Ultram (tramadol) for Back Pain "Good at relieving pain for a short duration (4 hours at a time) with few side effects. I found that at 200mg/day my pain was cut in half and I had increased energy and a brighter mood. I have used this medicine for 4 years now and find that it is very effective for about four months, and then effectiveness decreases. At that point, my doctor switches me to a narcotic for three to four weeks and then I can continue with the tramadol over again with a 'reset' in the effectiveness factor. The strongest negative for me is getting off the tramadol... withdrawal effects include major mood swings, insomnia, and dizziness. But overall, it is quite effective and has very few bad effects for me while taking it."

For Depression "Initially prescribed Tramadol for lower back pain. Had previously been on other forms of antidepressants for PTSD after a long military and police career. Tramadol worked wonders in alleviating all forms of depressive/anxious thoughts and feelings. I had no idea Tramadol could help in this regard and now use it solely for mental health, having discarded all other medications. Like other reviewers here, I believe more attention and research needs to take place to make this drug a frontrunner in mental health medication. I feel confident, social, and my work has improved immensely since using this medicine. I take 100mg per day and no more. My recommendation is to stick to the prescribed dose and avoid alcohol in large quantities. Please keep in mind that the only side effect I have ever experienced is constipation. With that in mind, I changed to a higher fiber diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables and noticed my gut function returned to normal."

For Depression "I actually found tramadol worked for depression while being treated for pain in the back. I noticed how great I began to feel. No depression and actually felt like myself for the first time in years. So I actually had a long talk with my psychiatrist, and after showing him several articles from various sources, such as the NEJM, and much more, and telling him of my experience using it for pain and how it uplifted me, he finally agreed to it on a trial basis. I haven’t looked back since. Now I still take my other depression meds. The tramadol is an additional drug. Yes, it is addictive, and no, I don’t care. Your body will start showing signs of tolerance, and you may need to adjust your dosage over time. I recommend starting on the lowest dosage that works for this reason. Do not abuse it because it makes you feel high or buzzed. This will increase the quickness in tolerance, and you will eventually run into the ceiling on daily maximum dosage."
