Reviews for Tramadol

For Depression: “Tramadol is the only thing that has ever worked for my depression. However, because of the Opioid crisis every time I tell anyone, including doctors, this fact, they treat me like I am drug addicted. Several have gotten snotty with me and insisted they have never heard of such a thing. Because of this, finding a doctor who will listen is next to impossible. I had one, a very good one, but I had to move away. This drug significantly improves my life. When it wears off in the evenings, I sink back into suicidal depression. I have one refill left and then I am back to life debilitating misery.”

For Back Pain: “I was prescribed Tramadol for back pain due to a motor cycle accident. I was in agonising pain and I had tried all sorts of physio therapy and nothing was working so my doctor gave me Tramadol. It made a massive difference to my life , I was able to function again .I took 6 x 50g a day , so I took 100g morning , afternoon and before bed . Tramadol helped me from going insane and provided me to be able to function and get on with my life .After 3 years I decided to stop the tramadol as my back pain had got so much better , WARNING it was the worst 3 weeks of my life , Withdrawal symptoms were horrendous , shakes , cravings , stomach cramps , nausea , body aching all over , constant sneezing , insomnia and have been left with restless legs. Some people say withdrawal from this drug is manageable , NOT FOR ME , I would never ever take Tramadol again for this reason .”

For Fibromyalgia: “This is the only medicine that had worked to relieve my fibromyalgia pain (burning, aching in my legs) and allows me to function again. Because of the opioid problem and my move out of state, I could not get a dr to prescribe, although I only was able to see PAs. Now that I moved again and found a good Dr that I see who understands fibromyalgia, I am back and able to work. I could not work for 2 years without it. Very grateful to have it. Have not found it addictive. I only take when absolutely necessary and try going without if possible. No side effects. Even gave me back my energy.”

For Anxiety: “I was prescribed Tramadol 50 mg for headaches and TMJ pain. However, the biggest difference this medication has made for me is the way it has helped my anxiety and depression. It is truly amazing, and a blessing. I have severe social anxiety but I find now that I can talk to people and actually want to socialize. No other med has really ever helped me. I truly wish that doctors understood how this medication helps those of us with long-standing anxiety and depression, it's a miracle.”

For Anxiety: “After taking so many antidepressant like sertralin, Lexapro with huge side effects and ayurvedic products with little effects, yoga, meditation and everything possible to treat my GAD, I tried tramazac (tramadol HCl) based on reviews of people here. I took first dose of 50 mg. After 2 hours this medicines did miracle. It took away my anxiety, sad mood and I felt so happy. I took at 8 pm evening and its effects lasting next morning. I did not expect such positive results in just hours. I will continue this. However I have read that this is habit forming so I will take care not taking it daily. But antidepressants are also habit forming ,their withdrawal is also not very easy. But this medicine is too much effective with no side effects. I thank all the people here. I will continue to share my experience further.”

For Fibromyalgia: “Tramadol is the only medication that helps my fibromyalgia and CFS! My weakness is debilitating and only working part time, I am able to take one a day before work! It gives me strength in my legs and energy for a few hours! Downside, I can only take one a day as Tramadol gives me headache with two! No Drs are educated in this field.. at least I found my own help to continue to function and work!!”

For Anxiety: “I started taking tramadol after my gastroenterologist told me that I needed to immediately stop taking ibuprofen. I had developed a pre-ulcer condition due to all the ibuprofen I had been taking for headaches that I got pretty often. So I began to take tramadol instead for headaches and for arthritis pain. After about a week of taking tramadol 50mg, I realized that I was feeling happier than I had felt in a very long time. I had been under the care of a psychiatrist for years due to anxiety and depression and had been on so many anti-depressants that I lost count. None of them worked for me. So when I realized how good I was feeling, I researched tramadol for depression and voila! I found out that it was actually helping many people.”

Ultram (tramadol) for Pain: “I have been taking this medication for about two years. At first it completely killed the pain and then gradually i have built a tolerence to it. The days that it works and feel good it is awesome but other days i wish i had other options. I like the fact that it is non narcotic and seems not as habit forming.”

For Anxiety: “Tramadol isn't too good for pain (although that's what it's indicated for), instead I find it to be a decent anxiolytic & anti-depressant. To fully appreciate tramadol though you need to understand the medicine. The first 3 hours gives a 'mental lift', cheerful and fear-free, then, after that, tramadol's opioid metabolite takes over - rendering one very calm and (often) sleepy. It's at this 3-4 hour 'second stage' where you can sleep quite good on tramadol. But again, to summarize, you need to take tramadol for a couple days straight in order to fully appreciate the way it behaves. An acquired taste.”

For Anxiety: “I just wanted to some helpful advice. Tramadol is great for anxiety. The advice I want to give is for anyone that runs out before your refill date. You will have withdrawals during this time period and they suck! No sugar coating...they suck! I came across a forum about a year ago about Kratom as a helpful tool for withdrawals. I was desperate so I tried it. OMG! It is literally a miracle when dealing withdrawal symptoms from tramadol! I can't say this enough! I understand how some people have stopped pain meds all together with it. Its good for pain, anxiety, mood lifting. It attaches to a different opioid receptor, but is enough to keep you from having withdrawal symptoms...and MUCH better for you than prescription drugs!”

For Depression: “Was first prescribed Tramadol as an addon drug with my Vicoden due to a serious injury in a car accident. I also suffer from depression and acute anxiety most of my life with panic attacks. The Vicoden worked at first and then made me sick. I would vomit from it sometimes then it quit working. I took the tramadol one a day usually in the morning and stopped after a month or so because I felt it wasn't doing anything. Man was I wrong. My injuries healed and I stopped the Vicoden. Upon reading more about Tramadol I discovered it acts as a Serotonin and Norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. So it acts as a anti-depressant as well as a "semi-opiate" Tramadol itself is not an opiate. You body converts it into one, similar to Nucynta. Great drug.”

For Depression: “After hurting my back, hips and developing sciatica from lifting people in hospitals/nursing homes/rehab/homecare, I was given Ultram for the excruciating pain. It worked wonderfully without the dopiness associated with narcotics. I had also suffered from depression since I was a child and had been through numerous meds that didn't work, or made my life even worse. Tramadol is the only med that I have taken that has successfully treated both my chronic pain as well as my depression, allowing the sun to shine in my life.”

For Depression: “Have taken tramadol in the past. It literally saved my life when I was going through severe depression while slowly recovering from a traumatic injury. My doctor at the time put me on a light dose of tramadol to help with my somber mood. I was alive again. Nowadays, its virtually impossible to get any doctor to prescribe this. I've tried multiple anti-depressants over the last several years and they do nothing for me. Tramadol's the best--for me at least.”

For Anxiety: “I've suffered from depression spells, and mood disorders, but have had CHRONIC anxiety/panic attacks my whole life. I've taken a benzodiazepine for countless years, which worked well for some of these things but not all. Over the years I tried many different supplement meds typically prescribed for these issues, but none worked or they had horrible side effects on me. So my doctor suggested Tramadol--I asked how this could even work (a pain medicine)? He explained its an off-label use of the medication but has found it very successful in other similar psychiatric patients and how he researched and explained how it chemically works in the brain (which I didn't really understand)...but IT WORKS AMAZINGLY! I finally live a NORMAL and HAPPY life!”

For Back Pain: “Please be careful whilst taking Tramadol as I became Addicted to them!!!!!!! Wish I never took it , I was given tramadol by my doctor after I was in a serious car accident which led to severe back pain. Yes it did work and yes I felt great on it but I started to get dependant on it . As my back started to heal and I started to take less of them but I hated the way I felt , tired , dizzy , no energy , so I continued to put the dose back up so I could feel normal . I was on them for 3 years and started to develop depression , I decided to come off them so I “cold turkey “ ok not the right decision but I was too embarrassed to tell the doctor I was addicted to them , It took me 16 days to come off them with the most horrendous withdrawal symptoms , I am over it now and feel so much better that I can get on with my life without the craving of Tramadol. I just want to share this to let people know , if you are on Tramadol please be careful .”

For Depression: “My life was grey on everything my mood was bad, depressed and emotional about having to sweep my own floor. I talked to my primary care doctor and asked about tramadol and he said great things. I now take 6 a day and have been a different person. I now have energy, patient and a better father who plays with his kids again. Saved my life.”

For Anxiety: “I never usually respond with comments but feel I must in this case as a duty to help others with anxiety. I realise there are different forms of anxiety? I too suffered anxiety for about 30 years. I exercise regularly, run, cycle, meditate, gym work, eat all the recommended foods...all the "right things". I have been on several serotonin medications which made symptoms worse, almost suicidal, until accustomed after a month. But only partially successful. I had a new knee operation last year and took a Tramadol-Paracetamol combination for pain for a few weeks (37mg Tramadol per pill, 2, pills 3 times daily. Also with the depression/anxiety meds. The anxiety totally disappeared. Now I am on 50mg Tramadol nightly, and no other medication, and I have felt so good for 3 months, and no negative side-effects. I have a new life. I will think about trying 25mg (half tablet) daily My doctor is surprised, but is happy to prescribe based on my feedback !!”

For Anxiety: “I have suffered with anxiety for as long as I can remember, I have tried quite a lot of anti anxiety medications. Those medications did help with the anxiety but left me feeling a bit foggy. I was prescribed tramadol for pain relief, as a pain reliever it was okay. What I did notice was my anxiety was gone and I felt very calm, not out of it just calm and focused with a very positive outlook. Hopefully more research will be done as it would seem I'm not the only person who has experienced this.”

For Depression: “I was facing several months of on and of depression since being forced to move. I had and have no one to communicate with anymore. The loneliness made me realize how empty my life is and see no purpose in anything. I lost all motivation. The greater issue was that I was starting to feel like this everyday and started pondering suicide. I decided ro try Tramadol since it was available to me. I took 100 mg to test it and I felt normal again (able to feel pleasure and then some). The experience was amazing and it gave my social confidence I was lacking. As the Tramadol wore off I was able to speak in a debate group without issue (I usually get nervous and lose track) and it was noticed. I alI'v”

For Fibromyalgia: “I have had fibermyalgia for my whole life. How I managed to have a full career and raise children, I only owe to eating Tylenol and aspirins like candy day and night over all those years. Of course I was still in pain and couldn't sleep because the pain would keep me awake. My family physician doesn't even believe this disease exists. He was upset my rehumatologist prescribed Tramadol for the pain and told me to discontinue it. Tramadol 50 mg is the only reason I am pain free most of each day. I finally feel like I have a life back. Doctors who have Never experienced this type of chronic pain, do not know what a godsend Tramadol is for chronic suffers”

For Chronic Pain: “I have serious pain in my feet due to pes cavus (high arches). The pain is in the metatarsals of both feet, but especially the dominant right foot. Before retirement I took 400 mg of Tramadol every morning to get me through the day, teaching high-school English. My teaching style was peripatetic, continually on my feet in order to manage my classes. Moreover, it was so painful to drive, I had to use a specially designed hand tool to depress the brake pedal. Tramadol got me through the last five years of my job. (The pain didn't kick in until I was in my fifties). I had no side effects. Tramadol is still effective for me, but it is hard to get a prescription. When there's an "opioid epidemic," everyone must suffer.”
