For Bipolar Disorder "Five years ago, I was diagnosed with Bipolar II Disorder, anxiety, PTSD, breakthrough depression, and ADHD. I never realized I was depressed, I thought it was just my life. I did not think I had any of these things, but by the grace of God, I saw a psychiatrist at my recovery clinic, and he sat, he talked with me, and here I am. Seroquel XR has literally saved my life. My mood has never been better. For many years of my life, I was mad at the world or could barely get out of bed. Since taking this medicine, I feel normal for the first time in my entire life. My mental health was a big part of why I self-medicated, and I did not realize this until that appointment. I would suggest that if the doctor offers this, it would be wise to try it."

For Bipolar Disorder "I like this medicine. Even the side effects are manageable. I get loopy on them, but that is better than the screaming drama queen I once was. I take 600 mg and have a psychiatrist and a counselor, who helps me through situations that I used to rage through. Also, I'm a rapid-cycling Bipolar II, so I think it's wonderful just to be able to be somewhat normal."

For Bipolar Disorder "I'm 24 yrs old, have severe RA and have been taking Seroquel XR at 300 milligrams a night for nearly a year. I was diagnosed with bipolar 2 years ago but had so much trouble finding a psychiatrist who was caring enough to listen to me (like a psychologist and work as a psychiatrist, pill pusher) so my diagnosis went treated and untreated on and off for a while. But since I've been seeing my doctor regularly and she seems to genuinely care, I've trusted her judgment with her diagnosis and what she thought would help me most. Besides the weight gain, honestly I feel much more stable, and I can deal with the world around me as I see it and haven't had any serious depressive episodes or hypomania. This medication has worked wonders for me."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "I have been taking Seroquel XR for just over a year now, started with a 25 mg dose, now up to a 200 mg dose. I found that my thoughts are controllable, relatively a good sleeping aid. Just be careful not to eat after an hour or so of taking certain brands of this medication. Seroquel XR blue/white pack 100 mg makes anything hard to swallow, even water. Best to go straight to bed. Would like to try managing my own emotions and thoughts one day without medication. I hope for everyone who struggles. Thank you and good luck!"

For Bipolar Disorder "Great medication for agitation and sleep when taken in the evening. There is a bit of a hangover period for a couple of hours, but that is acceptable to me for a full night's sleep. Much better than regular Seroquel, which you better be near a bed soon after taking it. Seroquel XR is much smoother and gives me a chance to adjust to the sedation as I get ready for bed."

For Bipolar Disorder "No, dude, it doesn't work. I've been on it for a few months. No, it doesn't work for anxiety. It helps the shaking part. That's it. Doesn't work for depression either. When I was on it, I hurt myself and was thinking about suicide. It didn't stop my racing thoughts. My OCD is the same. Man, just no. I gained 40 pounds in 2 months just with 250 mg. It's the worst medication of its category. I was on Zyprexa before, but besides the horrible weight gain, at least I was doing much better. I hate this medication. Do not take it, people. It makes you fat and doesn't help at all. No, man, just NOOO. I'm going back to Paxil 30 mg and Zyprexa 7.5 mg, which work so much better. Bye, Seroquel."

For Bipolar Disorder "I've been on Seroquel on and off for over 16 years. My doctors would switch me to other drugs that didn't work as well. I've been on Seroquel XR 400mg for a little over a year and I have never been more stable. I'm able to hold a job, I have great relationships with my children, and my anxiety has been at an all-time low. The only downfall is that I can't sleep a wink without it. I had surgery recently and was told not to take the Seroquel with the pain meds they send me home with because apparently they interact. I didn't take it for 3 days, and apparently my body was super dependent on it because I literally couldn't sleep a wink for those 3 days. It was hell!! So I finally took it on the 4th day and I slept like a baby for 12 hours. Other than that one instance, I love Seroquel as it's the only drug that truly worked for me."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I'm currently 30 and a male. My depression has only worsened since (and before) my initial diagnosis of depression and generalized, social, and 'acute' anxiety 13 years ago. I've been in major depression for at least five years, tried to kill myself twice, and am unable to take care of myself. I've lived alone since I left for college in 2003. I still live alone here. I've been on any SSRI I can think of, so this was a last resort med. Seroquel has made me much too tired to work or do anything else. The only stars I gave it relate to the reduced anxiety when I'm actually awake. Other than that, I'm more numb than I ever have been and am at risk of losing my job."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I'm currently taking 150 mg Seroquel XR along with 45 mg Remeron for MDD. I take them both at night to help with my sleep. It also is to help with my anxiety disorder. I've noticed that I am less depressed and anxious, but that's only because I'm so depersonalized I can't focus on my surroundings, let alone my anxiety. I constantly feel stuck in a dream-like state, and I can't focus. Even as I write this, I'm struggling to find the words and describe how I feel because I don't feel much of anything. I haven't had many other side effects, even when I drastically increased the dose. All in all, it technically does help, but this is no way to live."

For Bipolar Disorder "After much trial and error with other medications, I am pleased to find that Seroquel XR really helps. I take 500 mg per day. Started at 200 but worked my way up until I felt better. Wish I had discovered this years ago."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have been on Seroquel XR for almost a year now. Started on 150 mg, then went up to 300 mg. Today I started 400 mg as my moods are getting very impulsive, and I’m getting manic. I’ve been on probably over 25 medications, and this is by far the best. Zyprexa made me gain 60 pounds in 6 months and also made my breasts start leaking a milky substance. All I can say is give it a try. It doesn’t hurt at all. You never know if it will be the life-changing medicine for you."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have been taking Seroquel for a little over a year and a half now, and it has been the best thing for me. I started off at 350 mg when my mania was insanely uncontrollable. But after 2 months, I was able to go down to 250, and ever since, it's been perfect because I don't fight the drowsiness in the mornings and get a great night's rest. I did gain weight, only 20 pounds, but I have always been extremely athletic (2-sport collegiate athlete), and it didn't really affect me at all. Just as long as it keeps the manic/depressive episodes on lockdown, I think I can handle a curvier body. I seriously recommend this if you can handle a little weight gain!"

For Schizophrenia "I lost touch with reality for quite a while. I mainly use this as a sleep aid, but I am a paranoid schizophrenic. As far as symptoms of my schizophrenia, it helps. However, whenever it's about time to take my dose, I notice my condition worsening a lot. If I take it late, I am loopy and a bit delusional, but I hold a steady job that requires us to work late some days. Also, if I am just having an overall bad day, it seems to not help my symptoms at all. I am pretty sure I would be a lot worse without this medication. My insurance doesn't cover it, but I got a card from the doctor making my prescription only cost around 17 bucks. If I didn't have that card, it would be about 80 bucks with my work insurance, 400 or something with none."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have to say I've rated this medicine a 7 out of 10 because it has brought me out of both some wicked manias and depressive episodes. The sedation is a love-hate relationship with me-it's nice for my anxiety, but is also a nuisance. I must take this medicine 12 hours before I need to wake up, or I have trouble waking up. I feel it does interfere with my creative and intellectual abilities a tad bit. Overall, however, it's a good med."

"I'm taking Seroquel XR 100 mg daily, in the evening, before sleeping, and Fluoxetine hydrochloride 10 mg (antidepressant) in the morning. I'm 30 years old and have serious anxiety problems for over 15 years, with a few psychotic breaks caused by stress and anxiety. I tried a lot of different types of medications over the years, and I always felt miserable and weak while taking medications, plus, I had some side effects, like weight gain, and I was more or less a vegetable. Now, I've been taking Seroquel for over 4 months, and I feel like my old self again. My work is in creative fields, in which I achieve great results right now. If you watched the movie 'Limitless,' that is my situation right now. Of course, I have my low periods at times now too, but I have the will and techniques to overcome them quickly. If you are in a similar situation, I recommend you try this therapy. I wish you well, cheers!"

For Bipolar Disorder "I take this medication for bipolar, but it also does wonders for generalized anxiety disorder. I have suffered for decades with anxiety and panic attacks, and SSRIs have stopped working for me. When I started taking Seroquel, it was like I finally saw color in the black and white world I was living in. My moods are completely under control, and my anxiety is controlled for the most part. This medication definitely has side effects. It's a tranquilizer. It makes you very tired. It also made me gain a significant amount of weight... but I would rather deal with the side effects than deal with the horrible anxiety I was living with every day. I take it before bed... make sure you're able to get at least 8 hours of sleep so you're not groggy the next day."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "I take this medication for its side effects primarily. It works great if you have severe insomnia. This medicine makes you very hungry when you take it. It also helps to relieve anxious feelings and help calm feelings of stress. Again, my doctor prescribed this medicine due to weight loss, insomnia, and anxiety. This is not what the medicine is exactly made for, but I have tried dozens of medicines, and this is the only one that has helped with my problems."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "Excellent for sleep onset - up to a point. If things get really bad, I've had to augment it with temazepam and Valium. I also have depression. I was on and off it for about 3 months, and it causes brain fog and word retrieval problems. There is also a significant increase in appetite, but it's not as bad as Remeron."

For Bipolar Disorder "Been on Quetiapine MR for around 9 months. 300 mg at night. Found it far less sedating than Olanzapine. It's been a miracle for my bipolar, absolutely no depression and no manic episodes. Yeah, I put on weight, but the effects on my mood and mental health have been incredible."

For Bipolar Disorder "I went from taking 120 mgs of Cymbalta to taking 150 mgs of Seroquel XR just over one year ago. I fortunately did not suffer from any of the initial side effects that I've now researched and have learned are really common when starting this medication. However, one month ago, I'm not sure why, but I ended up missing two nightly doses. What I experienced was nothing short of being in hell, literally. I physically was incapable of movement, getting up to simply get to the restroom was near impossible, every muscle in my body was weak and near useless. I couldn't do anything but remain in a fetal position curled up on my side for the duration of over twelve hours. My head was cloudy, confused, and unable to process any thought. After this experience, I want off."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "Unfortunately, I have no idea what is wrong with me, but what I know is that Seroquel works great for me. I suffer from severe mood swings, mild psychosis, generalized anxiety, and have experienced mild religious auditory hallucinations. I switch dosages pretty often due to my mood swings because if I am manic, I need more, and if I am depressed, I need less because Seroquel works as a major sedative to kick mania, and when I am depressed, sedation is a con because it makes me more depressed. In general, it does work, but I am really sad that I have to take prescription medication in order to be normal."

For Depression "In the beginning, I was on 300 mg of Seroquel (not extended release) for 3 years. Got pregnant, they took me off. I moved provinces, they ended up putting me back on a smaller dose, 150 mg. Sleeping-wise, I would go to sleep right away and stay asleep all night. For the past 2 months, they decided to put me on 150 mg Seroquel XL. Now it takes me hours to fall asleep, and I wake up constantly throughout the night and have a hard time falling back asleep! I feel like XL does not work near as good, depression-wise and sleeping-wise."

For Bipolar Disorder "I had a doctor who took me off Zoloft, which did not work at all, and finally put me on Seroquel XR. After 1 week, I think that I notice a slowdown in my racing mind and a little bit of an ability to deal with it. I still get extremely angry in situations, so I asked him, and he put me on 300 mg. The anger still exists, unfortunately, but I think that my mind is more manageable. I slur my speech quite a bit. I have never had any luck with SSRIs. At least with Seroquel, there is some indication that something is changing, and it does feel positive. I hope that it works. I was just diagnosed with bipolar disorder and depression/anxiety after 29 years of living with it."

For Bipolar Disorder "I was one of the unlucky ones whose prolactin levels skyrocketed. I was only on 100 mg, with a plan to ramp my way up to 500 over the course of 10 weeks, which was obviously vetoed when my chest started swelling quite noticeably. Lactation isn't worth what's essentially only a sleeping pill at 500 mg doses."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I originally took 25 mg of immediate release Seroquel with Paxil. I decided to go off all my medication as I had been on it a long time and wanted to give my body a break. I was good for about 6 years. Then, due to stress at work, I had a nervous breakdown. My MDD and anxiety were in full force. I ended up in the hospital, and my doctor put me back on Lexapro and Seroquel XR 50 mg. They were lifesavers. I knew from the past that the combination of SSRI and Seroquel worked. Though I like the XR better, as the immediate release made me extra tired in the morning. The XR does not. My insurance covers the medication, but I think it is expensive if not covered, which is a pity since it could help a lot of people. I don’t think I’ll be going off my medications again."
