Prucalopride for Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I have had problems with constipation most of my adult life. I know I should drink more water, but love to drink diet coke! My gastro doctor put me on Linzess originally. I had really bad diarrhea and then it stopped working. He then put me on Motegrity. My God, what a difference. I go almost every day, sometimes more than once. I added taking a stool softener and now have no problems with pain or having a complete BM. I do have occasional gas, but it passes easily. I finally feel normal again! At first, my insurance company denied paying for Motegrity, but I appealed the decision and they gave it to me for $155 for a 90-day supply. I gladly pay this for not having the bloating and pain I would endure."

Prucalopride for Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I tried this daily for 7 weeks-almost at the end of the 2nd refill. It worked a little for the first 10 days or so, but there were no results at all since, and unfortunately, there were very unpleasant side effects of severe gas, severe bloating, and abdominal pains. It was very expensive too. I'm not going to refill. No results and bad side effects."

Prucalopride for Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "Oi! I have been constipated all my life, tried all the OTC stuff. I tried Trulance before this one, did not help at all. I was very hopeful for Motegrity. It worked amazingly the first two days, first times I have ever had a complete bowel movement. I had some bad gas and awful pain in my back and sides. I was also quite achy, almost like I was hungover. Unfortunately, when the pain stopped on the third day, so did the bowel movements. On to the next!"

Prucalopride for Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "Horrific. I took 1 tablet before bedtime and woke up writhing in pain. Strange, loud stomach noises followed by gas of epic proportions, which smelled sickly. Pain all day the next day. I’d rather be constipated, and that’s saying a lot."

Prucalopride "This drug works great for about 6 months. I started out with a quarter of a pill and got up to 4 mg, the largest dose. You have to keep increasing the dosage, your body gets used to it. After that, there's no place else to go. I am trying to wean off of it. I was also on Linzess, which caused me to have diarrhea to clean up every day. I weaned myself off that. I also stopped Miralax. It made my stool soupy, gassy, and stinky. Now, I am taking bacillus coagulans. You will have to work on the dosage. I am aiming for one to two billion with each dose. If I take more, I am on the toilet all day. I've also decided to try magnesium oxide again. They say 500 mg at bedtime, but I'm going to start with 250. Because of all the additives in pills, I chose Now powdered magnesium oxide on Amazon. If you're going down the same road I am, I'm really sorry for you. I hope you find something that works for you."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I thought when this came out this was going to be my hope. Unfortunately, it didn’t work. After two weeks, I had to take citrate of magnesia to empty out. This medication is horrible and causes awful, painful gas and depressed mood. My gastroenterologists refused to give me Zelnorm because I have controlled palpitations. No heart disease, she said it would work. So my last option is colon removal because I can’t live like this anymore, using Dulcolax and bowel preps every three days."

Prucalopride for Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "After suddenly developing abdominal pain and infrequent BMs four years ago without consistent relief from diet changes or OTC products, or Amitiza and Linzess, I'm trying this (and one other which is less effective). This "worked" initially with soft and loose stool, lots of gas, and cramping. Added my OTC again, but ineffective. Tried the other sample drug, even less effective. Back on Motegrity, same experience and have concluded it's exacerbating neck and back pain to intolerable levels, possible wrist and ankle pain, fatigue, and the blues. Totally interfering with sleep. The only temporary relief I get is swimming or exercising."

Prucalopride for Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I have suffered with chronic constipation my entire life. I'm currently sixty-eight years old. After trying to deal with it myself and trying every laxative there is on the market, changing my diet, etc., nothing worked. As a last resort, and trying Linzess and Amatiza, my gastro doctor put me on Motegrity. She was determined to help me, especially since my colonoscopy was not clear enough to get a result. I have to say, after a week, I go every single day. However, the one side effect that is starting to affect me is terrible gas pains that wake me up in the middle of the night and last an hour or more. I'm hoping this is temporary and it will subside after another week or so."

"I have had irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) for around 10 years, which has worsened since having kids. I took the 2 mg dose as prescribed by my gastro consultant before breakfast this morning, and within 45 minutes, I was in a lot of pain and had diarrhea, headaches, and dizziness. The effects eventually wore off after around 4 hours, but they were pretty extreme. After having dinner tonight, I had extreme pain in my lower gut that felt like stabbing soreness. I also had gas and bowel movements and couldn't stand up straight from the pain. Not nice at all and will not be taking it anymore."
