Linzess (linaclotide) for Irritable Bowel Syndrome: "I have tried to take this several times, with no success. My Dr Prescribed this for IBS-C. I can't take it in the morning for fear of incontinence. I took it last evening and woke up at 2am with liquid stools and severe diarhhea about every 15 minutes for about 6 hours. This medication will be going in the trash. So not worth it. I'd rather be constipated and take Dulcolax."

Linzess (linaclotide) for Constipation, Chronic: "I'm a 25 year old female who has had BMs every 7-9 days since I was 10 with no real answers. I had tried everything, nothing worked. I did not feel the sensation of "needing to go" despite the pain and discomfort in my abdomen and could only have a BM if I removed it myself with manual disimpaction. This was, of course, disgusting and very inconvenient. It eventually became normal for me and I had almost given up at ever finding treatment. I started taking Linzess 290 mcg nearly two weeks ago. Nothing happened for six days, and then I had a small, well-formed BM. I never had any explosive diarrhea that many others experience with this medication. My BMs are now every 1-2 days, small, and still sometimes have to be removed manually."

Linzess (linaclotide) for Irritable Bowel Syndrome: "I started this a week ago because I was having incredibly intense cramps and nausea every time I needed to poop. I experienced massive diarrhea about an hour after I took it. I have other digestive issues, including Gastroparesis, GERD, and kidney problems, so I'm used to these issues. So I continued to take it and deal with the fallout diarrhea. Yesterday, I had the best day I've had in months. When I took the linzess, I didn't have the diarrhea and in fact had a normal day! I think this stuff might be effective if you can get past the initial diarrhea part and let it work for a week or so. I'm a little nervous about reports that it stops working after a month, but I'm going to see what happens."

Linzess (linaclotide) for Irritable Bowel Syndrome: "I took Linzess earlier this year when I was constipated constantly from IBS and gastroparesis. It either gave me diarrhea or didn't work. Then my bowels normalized for a while so I quit taking it. About two weeks ago, the constipation started again, so I began taking it again. This time it was wonderful. I haven't had diarrhea; instead, it gives me a regular bowel movement each day and I don't have to stay at my house for several hours after I take it to make sure I stay near a bathroom. I'm on the higher dose of it. This is the way I had hoped it would work from the beginning."

For Constipation, Chronic: "I have suffered chronic constipation for over 15 years, no physical reason for it, my bowel just doesn't work and it gets worse around the time of the month. I have tried everything the doctor could prescribe and nothing worked, resolor helped a little but only for a short time and I was having too much time off work in agony. I have been taking linaclotide every day for about a year and I love it! Every morning 1/2 an hour before breakfast then bm 1/2 an hour later. I do sometimes have the diarrhea and it is hideous but no pain so I don't care! No more passing out on the loo in agony. It took a while to settle but I say give it a chance and I sometimes add movicol if I'm feeling like things are slowing, it eases everything along."

Linzess (linaclotide) for Constipation, Chronic: "I am 40+ female! I thought I was going to live in misery the rest of my life! I had bowel movements every 3-5 days! I had so much bloating! I was cranky and had very little energy! I had constant pain in my back under my ribs! Since taking linzess, all of that is gone and I have had a bowel movement everyday! My energy is so much better! I am a different person! Thankful to God!"

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome: "I've suffered with constipation and stomach pain for 6 years. Everytime I eat i get pain. All the food that I eat and any liquids seem to stay in my body. I feel bloated, tired and the pain creeps up from lower abdomen and spreads to sides back and upper abdomen areas causing pressure on the heart and lungs. I've had many many tests done but nothing has been found. This medicine has been a saviour. I wake up early 5am take one pill and go back to sleep. Wake up at 7am and start to get ready for work by that time I go to the toilet and my whole body is completely flushed out of food and liquids. You have to take it on an empty stomach to get the full benefit and take 1 every day for at least the first 6-8 weeks."

Linzess (linaclotide) for Constipation: "I have found perfect combo for me. I take one Linzess (145 MCG) at least one hour before breakfast and a tbs of Citracel orange drink every morning. Linzess alone lost its effectiveness within a few weeks. I am 5' tall 110 lbs 75 years young. This combo keeps me as regular as clockwork for now."

Linzess (linaclotide) for Irritable Bowel Syndrome: "I was diagnosed with IBS-C about a year and a half ago. No laxatives were working at all. I was first prescribed with linzess 145, that did nothing for me. Then my doc upped the dosage to 290. That helped a little more. Then he added Amatiza. I now have to take 2 Amatiza and a 290 for anything to happen for me. The bloating is insane and the water retention is unreal. Living my life constantly sick is no fun!"

Linzess (linaclotide) for Constipation, Chronic: "I have been on this for about a week. After 20 years of complete idiopathic chronic constipation I had to take Mag Cit-rate or MOM every three days and wear a depends. It was necessary to stay alive and as I said 20 years (3 trips to Mayo Clinic and no help). I've not had any side effects that I am aware of yet. First morning I took it and had a bowel movement the next morning and it was a substantial and well formed movement. Later that night before bed, I had an urge and had another significant bowel movement. Second day same situation and had good bowel movement when I got up (within 2 hours). If this stays effective and no side effects emerge, my life has changed wonderfully forever. I could not travel before and had to wear a depends after magnesium as I never knew when I would get hit for about 16 hours. I have had no diarrhea with Linzess or bloating or pain. I hope prices go down or a generic occurs as I paid about $350.00 for 30 290mg capsules. Also, I pray that nothing occurs where this shows over time to have any negative side effects. I took Amitiza over 10 years ago and had agony and very poor results. I lost faith in all new drugs as they all panned out to have some serious problems so I waited on Linzess for over 5 years before trying it. No horror stories emerged and now, unless it stops working, I'm truly amazed after 20 + years of constant constipation. I didn't have over two or three Bm'S in 20 years without a magnesium product and they were getting more frequent for use with age. I'm happy to write this because I had given up and had considered having a colostomy or colectomy if I was a candidate. 10 stars for Linzess!"

Linzess (linaclotide) for Constipation, Chronic: "Linzess 145mcg gave me explosive diarrhea for hours. I thought I must have eaten something bad so I waited a day and took Linzess again and about 2 1/2 hours later it happened again and lasted 5 hours. Obviously not for me. I strongly suggest you're at home the first time you take this just in case."

Linzess (linaclotide) for Constipation, Chronic: "I am 68 years old and a recently retired registered nurse. I have had problems off and on with irregularity most of my adult life. I used OTC laxatives sporadically and ate a lot of roughage. 6 months ago, I had a minimally invasive mitral valve repair, followed by a heart attack and stroke 6 days post-op, and an emergency cardiac stent. I had been prescribed Ativan for anxiety and Tramadol for pain as well as Amiodarone. All of these contributed to chronic constipation. A few months back, I thought I was having a bowel obstruction. My primary physician recently prescribed Linzess. Within hours, I experienced a bowel movement without STRAINING for the 1st time in 6 months. It was the best day I've had since last August."

Linzess (linaclotide) for Constipation, Chronic: "I took the 145 mcg for chronic constipation. It worked ok for a week then I didn't have a bowel movement for a couple of days, then diarrhea one day and regular movement the next. I got a lot of gas and flatulence. Within a month it stopped working so I contacted my doctor. He said to take 2 capsules equal to 290 mcgs. I got diarrhea for 2 days, then no bowel movement then some normal movement. More gas pains and flatulence. Very disappointed with the medication. Doesn't really work as advertised. I will tell my doctor about it when I see him for my follow up. This medication sucks."

Linzess (linaclotide) for Constipation, Chronic: "This medication has been a great for me. I take it every morning (the lowest dose) on an empty stomach when I first wake up. I have had many years of chronic constipation and have tried MANY different things. This is the only thing that has really worked for me. Fortunately, I have not had the diarrhea issues that some people have reported. My doctor did say this can be a side effect for some. For others like me, it has worked great. Like any medication, there is always the chance you may have side effects and have to discontinue it. I think it's worth trying to see if it's right for you if you have had years of constipation that has effected your quality of life."

Linzess (linaclotide) for Irritable Bowel Syndrome: "How come the makers of this drug don't mention the weight gain associated with taking it? It works well for about a week and then the bloating and weight gain sets in. More than very disappointing and shame on them!"

Linzess (linaclotide) for Irritable Bowel Syndrome: "I can't believe my insurance agreed to cover this! It's $10 per pill otherwise. The 145mcg is a high enough dosage. 290mcg and your system will go nuts. This medicine works great and usually within 12 hours. Take it at the night, not in the morning like the instructions say. Make sure you have the day off. Best way to take it, have a light dinner, wait one hour, have dessert. In one hour you will have bloating, cramps and gas. The cramps and bloating are normal. It means your system is moving. By the next morning (maybe sooner) the bowel movements will start. DO NOT TAKE THIS EVERYDAY! Your body will build an immunity if you do. Keep hydrated as you will lose quite a bit of water."

Linzess (linaclotide) for Constipation, Chronic: "I can truly say this medication has changed my life! I have had years of constipation and used suppositories and Mirilax on a regular basis. Other oral medications were too harsh and cause me to throw up. I tried Linzess a year go and I didn't give myself enough time to adjust to the medication, lots of diarrhea. But my doctor encouraged me to try again and commit to it for a few weeks. Sure enough the side effects tapers off and things are mostly regular . It is very expensive and my doctor had to go through hoops to get the medication approved by my insurance."

Linzess (linaclotide) for Irritable Bowel Syndrome: "I started taking Linzess 3 weeks ago for IBS-C. I have suffered with IBS since I was 18 or so. If I didn't take anything over the counter I could go 4-5 days without a movement. My Dr gave me the starting dose which had little effect for me. Once he called in the 290 mg I can't believe the difference. Sure I've had a couple of headaches and bloating, but it has been a God send to me. No diarrhea for me at all. I am going everyday, sometimes more than once a day and have actually lost 5 lbs. I am also surprised see when people say they've experienced rapid weight gain because I've experienced the exact opposite. Glad I didn't read those reviews before starting!"

Linzess (linaclotide) for Irritable Bowel Syndrome: "I have been taking Linzess 290 mg for over 3 months now. In the beginning I had a few experiences of diarrhea but not so much now. What I cannot take is the stomach pain, gas and bloating which has gotten worse over time. I stopped taking the drug for a few days to determine if these symptoms were from the drug and they were. The stomach paid came right back today when I took a dose. While it does help with the constipation it is not worth the other side effects. Back to magnesium capsules I go."

Linzess (linaclotide) for Constipation, Chronic: "I've been using linzess 290 for a couple of years off and on because if stops working after a couple of months. I started it again and I'm finishing up my 2nd bottle and nothing. No results whatsoever. I use enemas a couple times a week and all I can get out are hard, round, tiny, rock like poop is all I get. I don't know what else to do."
