For Schizoaffective Disorder "I was prescribed injections with Invega Paliperidone after I was diagnosed for being 'a little weird car thing' or something like that while one Dr. insisted it was a psychosis after telling I had heard confusing language. Besides lethargy and severe depression and feeling really awful all the time, Paliperidone causes a constant, jittery, torturous agitation, which made it impossible to sit still or work or do anything at all, really, besides chain-smoking and walking around like a zombie. Akathisia is a severe side effect of antipsychotics that can be mistakenly diagnosed as a mental illness. Invega made it impossible to experience pleasure from or care about anything at all. Side effects of antipsychotics are much worse than as they are described by doctors and on the internet and actually cause psychiatric symptoms. Giving antipsychotics through injections, sometimes lasting for months, is inhumane. Recent article: called Coming Off Psych Drugs Harm Reduction Guide."

Paliperidone for Schizoaffective Disorder "I took 6 shots of Invega (for bipolar), so it is for 6 months now. Talking about symptoms of mania and depression, they have disappeared, I am not experiencing any of the symptoms. On the other hand, this drug has played with my cognition. Since I took my first injection, my concentration went down, I barely focus in my classes. My long and short-term memory has been poor. I have tiredness and sleep for long hours. I have a lack of thoughts and new ideas, especially when talking to people, I can't find words to say. This drug has a positive side and a negative side, there I will discuss with my psychiatrist to change the dose or change the medication."

For Schizophrenia "This is an awful, awful drug. Only 7 months in and I put on 40 kg and am now obese. Devastating results. This was the injection form. Not to mention the loss of periods, tiredness, stiff joints, and no energy. I wouldn't touch this medication with a 10 ft pole. Not only is it dangerous, it stays in your system for over a year. Blood test results show damage to the liver and high levels of prolactin. Hope this helps someone out there not to take it."

"Where do I begin, extreme fatigue, weight gain, depression that has lasted over a year (ever since I have been on it). I feel extremely numb and emotionless on this medication, find it nearly impossible to laugh or to smile. Tired all the time, sleep for hours. I feel like nothing will make me happy, I'll be happy once it's out of my system, that's for sure. Worst drug I have ever been on, extremely sick of the way I am."

For Bipolar Disorder "This medication simply does not work! I have been on it for 7+ years, and I have only gotten worse. My symptoms have gone from mild to severe. All they do is increase the dosage, and now I'm on the maximum dose. I relapsed last week, and I found myself wandering around aimlessly in a parking lot. I have become more paranoid and delusional. Not to mention the side effects: uncontrollable bowel movements, extreme tiredness, low energy, low libido, muscle pain, chest pain, etc., etc... It is almost impossible to get off this medication once you are on it for a while. I've talked to my doctor, sent him letters, and he will not change the medication. And I've called other p-docs, and no one can see me or even answer the phone. Time for a switch."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "I've been on paliperidone for the last year to manage schizoaffective disorder, and initially, it was really hard to manage the tiredness, but after lowering the dosage to 75 mg, I feel a lot better. I still find that the first few days of the injection, I feel extremely tired and depressed, but by the middle of the month, I feel amazing. I need to pace and move most of the time, but it's not too bad. I also rarely get periods anymore. I'm just glad to be out of the hospital and functioning well after being hospitalized four times in one year during pregnancy and postpartum."

For Schizophrenia "Really, if you love yourself, don't use this medication. I lived in a nightmare for 1.5 years for taking this medication. I was depressed, I couldn't enjoy anything in my life. I increased the dosage, and I became anxious, and I was tired of life. Believe me, this medicine turns you into a real zombie. I could force myself to have erections, but it was not pleasurable. Believe me, if you read this, never take this injection. Trust yourself and take your medicines daily."

Paliperidone for Schizoaffective Disorder "Been a week since the first 250 mg injection of Invega Sustenna. Arm hurt really bad for a few days and was kind of tired and felt like head under water, but as the week went on, that fog lifted and so did the pain. Still have some noise in my head, but can usually tell reality from fiction. Go back this week for 135 mg booster... hopefully no pain this time and no head under water feeling."

For Schizophrenia "Worst drug. Feel tired and sleep all the time, 15 hours straight sometimes. No emotion, nothing excites me or lifts my mood. Everything I used to enjoy just seems so bland. I'm on a Compulsory Treatment Order (CTO). I can't wait to get off this crap. I'm a zombie. Stay away."

For Schizophrenia "Truly horrible drug that should never be given to anyone. Has stopped my chances of having children as it has stopped my sperm production as a side effect. I have no energy, find it hard to concentrate, and have put on weight due to this injection. Totally ruined my life."

For Schizophrenia "Don't take this injection. I used paliperidone for 18 months, and believe me, it was hell. I was very depressed, restless, and tired. First, I thought maybe it was just the things I lived through that made me this way, but after 18 months, I realized it wasn't. I couldn't enjoy anything. I was anxious. I was very restless, so restless and stressed that I almost passed out. It didn't matter if I slept 10-13 hours, I was still tired. I became a zombie with very gloomy feelings. The only positive thing was that I didn't have delusions, but was that worth suffering? I am glad that I could take action to go back to my old, trustable meds. It's short, but I hope I can hold people back from this medication with my experience and take a lot better medication."

Paliperidone for Schizoaffective Disorder "I've been on the Invega Sustenna for going on 7 years now, and I have to say that a lot of what I'm seeing in the feedback is all similar to different experiences I've had with schizophrenia while on the medication. Yes, the side effects are terrible, you cycle from being overly manic to super lethargic (I held down a job for 3 years as a line cook on a 256 mg dose). Your appetite is uncontrollable at times, and exercise is overly strenuous and difficult (I tried a regiment of weight lifting and killer ten-mile runs daily to keep the weight off, your body can't shed breast tissue when you're a male). Since the circumstance of me taking this medication is mandatory in all aspects of my life for somebody in a similar situation to me 8 years ago (I'll spare the details), I would recommend this medication for bipolar or schizophrenia."

Paliperidone for Schizoaffective Disorder "Update: it’s been almost a week since my first shot of Invega. Here is my assessment. After a day or two, very sore arm where the injection happened. Been very sleepy and lethargic, but the body couldn’t sit still. Very vivid dreams. Also, I haven’t had much let-up in my delusions, voices, or mania. It’s just right now I don’t have the energy to do much about them. Due for the next shot in 3 days. I’m finally starting to not feel as tired, and the arm is starting to not be as sore, but not 100% yet. Hoping this next shot will help with the above-mentioned things (mania, paranoia, etc.). I’ll keep you updated."
