Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "Product may be great, but it's worthless if you can't open the bottle to use it. Horrific container design. Based on countless reviews and videos, this should have prompted product changes by now. Generic brand works just as well and doesn't waste valuable life trying to open the cap."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "Medication works great for nasal congestion. Now, trying to take off the lid is a different story, I almost returned it. After 3 minutes, a fellow coworker finally got the lid off. I understand childproofing, but this is ridiculous!"

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "Don't buy! The bottle is freakin' impossible to open, especially when you can't breathe and all you want is relief. Tried everything to get the lid off. Eventually, I got it off with my teeth as this was the only way I could keep the bottom half from turning as I twisted the lid. I still ended up with medicine in my mouth because it leaked while I was trying to turn the lid off. Most stupid design ever, go with a different brand, trust me!"

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "Wish I did listen to what others said after reviewing their experiences. Can't even open it, and I don't think I'm dumb, lol. So this is just in regard to their useless container. I also broke the container and applied it to my kid's nose, which woke me up in the middle of the night, saying that his nose burned. Stay away from this product, but if you don't listen, be my hero to open the container as well as burn your nose."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "Twice now - more fool me - I have bought the original nasal spray and had the top take everything off when I opened it, rendering the product useless. It's annoying you can't rely on what was once a strong brand."

For Nasal Congestion "This medicine is very effective at first glance, but it is quite addictive. I suffer from asthma and have a always congested nose. Still, my nose was never too congested to have to use these, so I limited the use only when I had a cold. I had a lung infection about a year ago and had to take antibiotics and this for about 2 weeks. When I tried to quit it, my nose would get more congested than when I was sick. I thought this would go away within 1 or 2 days. Finally, I had to go back to using the spray again, and I was hooked. I have been trying to minimize the use of it, but every time I quit, it causes that horrible congestion without me having any cold or flu."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "Unlike others, I was able to remove the medication, but I wish I hadn't. This medication made me feel horrible, almost to the point of going to the emergency room. I had terrible shaking and tremors and weird heartbeats, brain zaps, and couldn't sleep. I wish I had read the side effects before I took it. Very bad experience."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "I bought two of these because there were two of us in the household who had bad colds. We could not get the caps off. And, no, we are not morons. We don't struggle with child-proof caps in general. We did follow the instructions. We also looked online and tried various suggestions. When you push down on the cap, the plastic neck gives way and recedes into the bottle. We even tried pliers to get a better grip. It didn't work. The old-style bottles worked, but not the new ones. So, don't waste your money!"

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "I had a very hard time opening the bottle. First, the security wrap, then getting the lid off. There is more plastic here than product. A major rip-off, because the box looks large, but it's actually mostly a huge and bizarre pump. There is 1 tablespoon of Afrin inside a 4 1/4 inch pump container. I had someone pick this up for me, or I might have noticed the minuscule amount of product. The spray action was too strong, and my nose is sore. I feel like it shoots out a larger dose than it should. Probably some marketing 'disrupter' behind this who wants to change how nose drops are delivered. (And make more profit delivering plastic instead of medicine.)"

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "A friend of mine mentioned that this product will cause dependency. Even with that in mind, my symptoms still led me to purchase it nonetheless. The good news is I'm not addicted to it nor dependent upon it because I can't open it. This is the first and last time I will buy this product, whether they change the cap mechanism or not."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "Maybe check your products before you send them out? The product I bought, I guess, is defective because it will NOT open. Obviously, push down and turn counterclockwise-easy enough? Apparently, not for Afrin to figure out. I’ve tried getting the nasal spray to open, and the other 2 members of my household have tried as well. First time and last time buying anything from this brand. Now I have to take an extra trip to the store while sick and in the aftermath of a blizzard. Ridiculously frustrating."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "This product is a Godsend. I’ve tried almost all decongestant oral tablets and sprays, including expensive mometasone nasal spray, but couldn’t get the relief I needed. The very first time I used it, it unclogged my nasal congestion. What a relief! I can breathe very well. This is gonna be the only product I’ll be using from now on for occasional episodes of nasal congestion if ever I would need it at all, because I just recently had sinus surgery. This was prescribed by my surgeon doctor, and it just works perfectly."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "This stuff is easily the best nose spray I've used. However, the cap is nearly impossible to open. Part of the problem is the base (trigger) moves while you are trying to remove the cap when you first open it. You also need a strong grip to squeeze the sides as directed on the cap to remove it. Highly recommended, but you will spend some time trying to open it when you use it for the first time."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "I love Afrin. It’s the best for nasal congestion, however, the new cap is impossible to open. I am forced to change brands, although I wish that I didn’t have to. I have a full bottle that I can’t use."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "I've used Afrin for years. Usually twice a day, and as far as I know, I have not suffered any side effects. My family doctor has advised me not to use it, but when I have tried his recommended product, it doesn't work for me, so I have always gone back to Afrin. I live in a part of Texas where a lot of people suffer from airborne allergies. I'm not saying Afrin is the only good product on the market, but it works for me."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "The cap on the bottle is ridiculous. Can't get it off! Finally got it off after 15 minutes. Ended up using pliers. Also, the spray gave me a horrendous headache and did very little for congestion. I will never waste my money on this product again!"

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "I have been using Afrin Original nose spray for many years. It's the only one I will use. I have never had a problem getting the cap off until recently. I now, for the life of me, cannot get it open. I have two that won't open. The cap will not come off. Remember, folks, I have been using this product for years and love it. I have never had a problem before. But something has changed with the cap that has made it impossible to get open. And, it's not just the plastic wrapper around the top. I am glad to hear some people on this review have had the same problem so I know it's not just me. I hope Afrin folks are reading these comments and can come up with a solution. I would give this a rating of 10 if only I could still use it..."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "Nothing I have used reduces sinus swelling faster! But I'm rating it a '1' out of 10 because I thought I was going to die on day five with how much worse my swelling was. Right, you are not supposed to use it for more than three days: and the doctor at urgent care said not to use it more than two days and certainly not more than once every 12 hours. This is because, he said, each time you use it, your blood vessels will be a little larger when it wears off. And this is what makes you an addict. I will never use this product again unless I'm doing a presentation or a court appearance. I'd recommend the product for a one or two-time use -- and I'd give it a 10. But once you are on it, even after your cold is long gone, you can't give it up without misery, severe dry mouth (since you will not be breathing through your nose), and the need for alternative prescription-strength steroids to reduce swelling until your sinuses have readjusted. It's worth the urgent care visit."

For Nasal Congestion "This product, oxymetazoline, can cause urinary problems in older men. Also, DO NOT use if you have high blood pressure. I am quoting my doctor: 'For you, having HBP, this product is like taking poison!' PLEASE READ THE LABEL!"

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "First time trying the product, and my experience is terrible. I squirted it up my nose 2x and sniffed it up deeply. Instantly felt like the stuff went to my right ear, and now my ear hurts, and it isn’t draining as of 12 hrs later."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "I suffer from terrible allergies, and my dad purchased this product for me, and I ran with it for a good 8 years solid. Like clockwork, every 12 hours, my nose would start to get stuffy, and I would need my Nostrilla. My friends actually joke about it a lot now that I don’t need it. Definitely an addictive product. Amazing! But addictive. I almost had to retrain my nose to clear on its own for a while (which we all know is miserable). So please, enjoy as we all did/do, just don’t go longer than needed."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "I have seen some pretty horrible designs for packaging, but this has got to be the worst. I think they intentionally want people to buy their medicine and then be unable to open it and be forced to go through the mental quandary of do you drive back and return it for five bucks or do you just throw it in the trash and scream at the heavens. Who designed the cap for this bottle? The fact that they haven't been sued yet is a miracle."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "To be honest, I would rather have just had a stuffy nose. Used Afrin for a cold because my nose was extremely congested, and I wanted it clear so I could sleep. To the medicine’s credit… it did clear my nose. But the side effects aren’t a worthwhile trade-off. I had a headache for the entire day afterward, and my nose burned like fire. At first, it was just an annoying burning, then it turned into a sharp nerve pain in my left nostril after about 18 hours. I also sneezed so many times I lost count. Feeling a bit better now by the second day. Many people have complained about the cap on the bottle being hard to open, and I had a bit of trouble with it as well, however, it’s a minor complaint compared to the actual effectiveness of the medicine. Keep in mind, this was just my personal experience, and everyone’s different, of course. But beware of the side effects and decide if it’s worth it for you."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "This company should be sued, they sell nasal spray that you can't even open to use! Waste of money. My husband is ridiculous enough to buy this nasal spray again when we knew we always have a hard time opening the damn thing. And the nasal spray itself isn't as effective, it doesn't spray, it squirts lots of liquid when you give it a quick squeeze. Terrible."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "This childproof cap is not operable. I followed your instructions and wound up cutting the damn cap off. The good news for you is a child won't ingest your product, and you won't get sued. The bad news is a pissed-off adult might cut their hand with a knife and switch products. Good job product safety!!!"
