For Nasal Congestion "I have not been able to sleep at night for years due to nasal congestion. I started using this oxymetazoline nasal spray medicine, and I have slept two nights in a row. Words cannot say how happy I am. Instructions on the box: 2 or 3 sprays each side twice a day. I only use one spray each side and only once a day."

For Nasal Congestion "I have been using generic Afrin, oxymetazoline from the Dollar Tree store for a number of years. I have been trying to switch to fluticasone propionate unsuccessfully. Tonight, using both of these together caused my heart to start racing and pounding. So, I will need to switch to something else. And it looks like it can cause prostate enlargement in men, resulting in unnecessary biopsies. I did notice a change in packaging recently. I have to squeeze the cap where it is marked and then turn counterclockwise. Then the pump handle has to be turned counterclockwise to spray."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "I cannot wait for the day I can open this stupid cap for the Afrin I’ve been trying for the past day, watch many YouTube videos, and 8 family members have tried to get into the bottle. Never buying this product again after this ongoing experience. I have lost this battle, but I’ll win this war."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "Nostrilla nasal spray pump is very useful for nasal congestion, but the bottle it comes in has become increasingly difficult to use. When Nostrilla changed their spray bottle in early 2016, it took a bit of maneuvering to open, but I managed. Now this new sprayer bottle from early 2019 is impossible for me to open. I purchased the newest Afrin spray, and their new sprayer bottle is just a tad harder to open than last year's model, but I manage it. Why are these people making sprayer bottles like breaking into Fort Knox? Now I may have to switch to Afrin in the near future, because I can't open the newest Nostrilla bottle."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "I am unable to open the lid, so I can’t really evaluate whether the product works. My daughter and I both tried to open it until our hands were too sore to continue. Please fix the lid problem. I will be returning the product."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "This is by far the BEST nose spray I have ever used. Anytime I get a stuffed nose, Nostrilla knocks the snot right out of me! I will always use Nostrilla, and I will recommend it to anyone for a stuffy nose because of a cold or sinuses! It's AMAZING."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "This is by far the best mist I have tried, however, I must agree about the cap. I do understand it's child-proof and would be hard to figure out, but you do have to consider older people have arthritis and vision problems. Maybe you could make it easier, but it is a good product."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "I have been using Nostrilla since the '80s, through all of the formula changes. This last 'New Formula Fast Relief' formula change added polyethylene glycol, and with the addition of this, my hair has started to fall out again, and the area around my nose is very itchy. This did not happen with the 'Original Formula Fast Relief.' I wish they would go back to the most current 'Original' formula!"

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "I bought a squeeze bottle 2 days ago and used it twice before the bottle opened at the seam and leaked all the solution everywhere. This is no longer a quality product, and I will be using alternatives."

For Nasal Congestion "Clears up all nasal congestion within 3 minutes. Lasts for about 6 hours (though I have the '12-hour' version). However, I know it can cause rebound congestion if I use it too long. I only let myself use it for one day when I have a cold, though I would love to use it for three or four days."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "Works, but I guess I used it too often, and it made my nose bleed badly. The child-proof cap is terribly designed and obviously not tested beforehand. I had to use pliers to open the bottle, and that still took time. I'm looking for another brand because of this."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "I suffer from severe nasal/sinus congestion. This happens every night, and I am unable to get to sleep even if I have one nostril open. This is the only product I have found that works consistently on a daily basis, and I only use it at night. I consulted with an ENT doctor, and he gave me his approval as long as it was used only once per day."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "Here's how Bayer can solve the cap 'problem': say 'squeeze' instead of 'push.' Saying 'push' is confusing when the spray mechanism allows for vertical movement of the cap, because I'm sure that, like me, you all tried pushing it down and then twisting. No. Don't. Just squeeze the red bit and then twist. It comes off immediately. While this is slightly confusing, I figured it out in about, I dunno, 15 seconds? Step 1 when something isn't working: try something else. With that out of the way, here's why this product really sucks: even a single use as directed will have you suffering INTENSE rebound congestion after 10-12 hours, and you will be forced to either spray another dose or suffer several hours of torment. Absolute garbage product."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "I used this nasal spray all my life prior to it being taken off the store shelves and put behind the pharmacy counter. I, myself, never had any side effects other than breathing freely. I assume it was taken off the public market shelves because it actually worked, and other nasal sprays were and are obsolete once consumers became aware of its effectiveness. Now, I am forced to use the saline sprays they sell, which are pretty much just salt water in a spray bottle and do nothing to open my nasal cavity."

For Nasal Congestion "After I use it a few times, it began to smell like mildew. I tossed one out and bought another, and it did the same thing. Feels like I’m spraying mold up my nose. Afrin works, but you can’t use it daily or it loses its effectiveness."

For Nasal Congestion "Not quite sure why there is so much dissatisfaction with the new design... I was frustrated for about 30 seconds until I realized how easy it is to use. There are several different brands and generics that have the exact same concentrate of the effective drug. But I think, with the reasoning behind the new child-safety precautions, most, if not all, of them will continue with the new design. Anyway, effective as always, no matter what brand I buy."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "This stuff works like a charm! I got Covid and it brought in sinus pressure and congestion. My sister is a pharmacist and told me to grab some Afrin. Little did I know, Afrin would be a game changer. It completely opened up my stuffy nose and for 8-10 hours per dose. It allows you to breathe and it helped with pressure in my ears. I highly recommend!"

For Nasal Congestion "Neil-med SinuFrin is a lifesaver for me. I've been using 1 squirt in each nostril just before going to bed for many years. This is all I need to be able to easily breathe. There are only two reasons I stop for now. 1) Nasal passages are clear. (not very often) 2) Nasal passages feel raw, the spray hurts, and I sneeze a lot. This happens at most once a year. My doctor tells me I shouldn't use this, but the stuff he keeps telling me to use doesn't work. My biggest concern and something I haven't been able to find out is what are the long-term use issues with this type of spray?"

For Nasal Congestion "I have used this on and off through the years, and it really helps with nasal congestion due to sinus infections, which I tend to get easily if I end up getting any sort of upper respiratory infection. It completely clears my sinuses. For those complaining of rebound congestion: to help combat this, try not to use this for more than 3 days. If the rebound congestion is severe, you can wean yourself off this nasal spray! Continue to use it, but instead of using it in both nostrils, use it only in one nostril until that side of the sinus cavity is no longer congested, and then you can stop using it completely. This method was recommended by my primary doctor when I had been using this for months because I couldn't breathe without using it every day. It does work, but you have to be patient with your body as it gets used to not having this medicine anymore. I'm using the generic and found the packaging and cap easy to remove."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "Nostrilla is the only nasal spray that works for me, and we have had a long relationship through thick and thin. I've stuck through many changes, the worst of which was a new additive that was very harsh. Preferring relief to fear of addiction, I have had to deal with addiction. Here's the best treatment I've found. Stop on one nostril at a time. It takes about three days for that nostril to clear. Then do the second nostril. Within a week, my nasal passages were clear without using Nostrilla. Unfortunately, the congestion came back after a few months and I started using it again, but need it infrequently, use it sparingly, and have been able to avoid another addiction. As for the stubborn bottle (what sadist designed this), I use pliers to hold the top part steady while I turn the bottom part with the help of a hand towel. It becomes second nature, but you don't want to wait till the middle of the night to fight this battle. I hope my experience is helpful."

For Nasal Congestion "I liked this nasal spray at first, but now it makes my nose more and more stuffy and clogged. I continued to use it for several weeks because it unclogs my nose/sinus. But now it rebounds! I can’t stop using it if I want to breathe!"

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "I ordered two nasal sprays from Walmart. They substituted one of my originals with an Afrin, so I thought I would try it. Within 30 seconds of using it, my nose started to bleed, very concerning. About an hour later, I used my Equate nasal mist, which is what I normally use, and with absolutely no issues, so I'm returning the Afrin to Walmart."

For Nasal Congestion "Oxymetazoline is the most effective nasal decongestant. Propylhexedrine (the Benzedrex inhaler) is second best. Both have a rebound effect. To avoid the rebound, do NOT use oxymetazoline more than ONCE per day (preferably at bedtime - to avoid nighttime congestion). It will then be effective for at least 16 hours. To get through the remaining 8 hours (or less), use the propylhexedrine or something else - like nasal irrigation. Once you start using oxymetazoline more than once a day, you risk the rebound effect - which is terrible (I've been there)."

For Nasal Congestion "I took that medication because I had very bad congestion due to COVID. It works at first, but the rebound congestion happens just after a couple of days of usage and becomes a million times worse to the point where it’s not even worth it! I suffered an entire day long because of that. I was also getting headaches from using this medication. I never get headaches."

Oxymetazoline nasal for Nasal Congestion "I was able to open the bottle a few times, then I could not get it open again. Now, in trying to get the bottle open with a knife, and with a box cutter, and with pliers, I have damaged the top so badly it will never work again. What a terribly designed bottle. I have to give it a low rating because of ease of use. By the way, Afrin works very well if you can get it out of the bottle."
