For Inflammatory Conditions "This is a miracle for me. I 'throw my back out' about once a year. When I do it I am out of commission. Only 1 or 2 positions are tolerable and those require laying down. After 2 days of the dose pack, I can walk again. After 3 or 4 days, I am pretty much back to normal. My only issue with this is I have to get a script from the doctor. This usually leaves me at least one day on my couch in immobilizing pain. I wish I could keep a few of these packs on hand for emergency purposes."

Methylprednisolone for Inflammatory Conditions "My primary doc actually gave me a shot of this when I threw my back out. I never felt better. I went back to him and told him not only did it help with my back, but with my fibromyalgia! My rheumatologist had given me all sorts of pills to try and I felt like a science experiment! I usually get it 1-2 times a year. I stretch it out until I know I can't take it anymore and my body tells me - 'help' - it has done me wonders! I can get back on my feet and be me within a day or 2 depending on how bad I am. No more docs pushing pills down my throat or telling me it's all in my head, & I can get outta bed when the alarm goes off - not hitting snooze and for 2 hours and practically in tears! I know my body N it works for me! Good luck!"

For Inflammatory Conditions "I've been on the 6-day dose package of Medrol for asthma on and off for many years. I discovered that it also helps the inflammation in my joints. I go from having to use inhalers and a nebulizer albuterol machine for my asthma to completely normal. It helps my arthritic knees and gives me energy. I can't take cortisone shots in my knees but every 3 months. The doctor doesn't like to give me Medrol often either because it can cause your sugar to run high (I'm Type II Diabetic), and it can cause you to gain weight. The weight gain is not so evident, but my blood sugar does run higher. That's the only bad side to this medication. Otherwise, I would love to take it all the time. I sleep better, and I feel more like myself. My neck was also hurting me before I started taking it two days ago. Hope this helps someone!"

Methylprednisolone for Inflammatory Conditions "I have a herniated disc in my lower back that flares up a few times a year. I caught it just before the muscles went into spasm and took this dose pack. After taking the first six pills on day one, I felt 90% better. I finished the six-day prescription and didn’t have another flare-up for a week. I’m hoping my doctor will prescribe it again, and I’ll have to get back to my physical therapy exercises. The drug was a lifesaver for me with no side effects that I could tell."

Methylprednisolone for Inflammatory Conditions "Was hesitant to take Medrol Dosepak for my lower back pain after reading other reviews. I took the Medrol Dosepak, and the only possible side effect was minor stomach pain. Also, it helped fix my back pain after one day."

Methylprednisolone for Inflammatory Conditions "The first day/night was when I was the most jittery. The only side effects I got were jitters, slight headache, moodiness, and some dry skin. They get better as the days go on. My back pain has totally disappeared."

For Gout, Acute "After days of natural remedies (tons of cherries, celery, celery root extract, whatever else I could Google) I took this medication and the extreme pain in my toe was gone overnight. I still feel some pain, but had a good night's sleep and was able to walk a short distance without screaming in pain the next morning. Ignore the natural remedies from people who have never had gout. Their uninitiated minds think gout causes pain. No. Gout is days of slow, gnawing, unrelenting torture from an invisible, blunt-toothed enemy, whose torment is so bad, cutting one's foot off seems like a viable option. This medication drives it far away."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Over the last 15 years, I have thrown my back out 3 times. Twice doing work in the yard, doing something ill-advised (reaching and lifting heavy items), leaving me stranded, lying down in the yard until someone in my family noticed me lying in the middle of the yard. The first time, after 2 days where I was in intense pain and could not move, my doctor prescribed a Medrol dose pack because I could not stay home from work any longer. It worked quickly, and by the next day I could move around again (relatively pain-free). The second and third time, it took 2-3 days for it to start feeling better, but it worked. I did not experience panic attacks or anxiety as others have on this site, but each person's reaction to the drug will clearly be different."

Methylprednisolone for Gout, Acute "Works quickly to relieve pain. Rarely need full dosage to completely relieve pain. Have tried shots, indomethacin, Celebrex, Etodolac (severe reaction). This works best, have used for over 10 years now. Use only upon attack."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I've had intermittent hip pain for many years, it really picked up about three weeks ago with, at times, intolerable pain. Even with a pain pill, I had difficulty sleeping sitting, always favoring my right hip to avoid the pain. After taking the Medrol dose pack, for two days the pain began to subside. The pain is now gone, and dare I say I feel great! Hope it lasts!!!"

For Inflammatory Conditions "Herniated disc in lower back. Could barely stand. I went to my doctor, he prescribed this, and I felt amazing after the first dose. I felt great the first day. I'm on day two now, feel a little tired... but sleep is great with no pain. Hope it lasts."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Took this medication for about four days after being diagnosed with strep throat. Stopped on day 4 due to anxiety and panic setting in. Thought the side effects would be gone by now - I’ve been off of this medication 10 days. I’ve even been taking anti-anxiety meds and still can’t sleep at night. If anyone has any advice on how to counteract this safely, then please let me know!"

Methylprednisolone for Inflammatory Conditions "I was experiencing unusual headaches, and I was prescribed Medrol 6 pack for inflammation. Day 1 - I took all 6 together because I got them in the evening. I felt a little heartburn and slept for 2 hours that night. Day 2 - After every dose, I experienced discomfort in my stomach, heartburn, backaches, couldn’t sleep that night, and sweating. Day 3 - The heartburn continued, my headaches were overwhelming, my chest was hurting with burning sensations, dizziness, overly energized, and backaches. So I went to the ER, they told me to stop taking the methylprednisolone medication due to the side effects. Now I’m back to square one with the headaches and side effects from this bad experience with Medrol. How long do these side effects last? Anyone knows?"

For Inflammatory Conditions "I gave it 9 out of 10 as it did make me feel queasy. My most recent 'episode' with my cervical spine spun my world upside down. An inflamed and angry nerve is unlike anything else. I can't express how much pain I was experiencing...excruciating doesn't do it justice. Anyway, I don't like to take any kind of medication, but I was willing to sell my soul to the devil at this point. After taking all 6 pills on day 1, I immediately felt relief, not 100%, but SO much better! Day 2 began well, but as the day went on there was an increase in nerve pain. Day 3 was a rollercoaster day, but I still noticed improvement. Day 4 and 5 showed improvement (until I got hit with a water balloon). Day 6, I was still sore, but better. I hope the healing continues."

Methylprednisolone for Inflammatory Conditions "I use a Medrol Dosepak when my ankylosing spondylitis (spinal arthritis - not rheumatoid or osteoarthritis) is in a bad flare with painful, swollen joints. The side effect I always get for a couple of days is severe hip and lower back bone pain. But once that goes away, the drug works wonders! That's why many of us call it 'the drug with a double-edged sword.' It works amazingly but can have side effects for some people. I give it a high rating because it gives me back a much higher quality of life."

Methylprednisolone for Inflammatory Conditions "Two years ago, I was diagnosed with reactive arthritis likely caused by an allergic reaction to the antibiotic ciprofloxacin. I had severe pain in my wrist, shoulders, and gluteus. I am allergic to aspirin and all anti-inflammatory medications. My rheumatologist gave me an injection of methylprednisolone. Within eight hours, I was pain-free. However, within a week or so, the pain returned. I then started taking 10 mg daily, which was very helpful for a year. I reduced my dosage to 4 mg every other day for about 10 months. I stopped taking it on May 5, 2016. I still have wrist pain, but it is bearable. I have had no apparent side effects during or after taking the drug. Note: An every-other-day dose is recommended in the PDR, which I followed for the last year."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I had a very bad experience with this drug methylprednisolone. I have a knee problem, patellofemoral pain syndrome, the amount of side effects that I had from using it is beyond imagination: headache, nausea, depression, confusion, restlessness, anxiety, eye pain, urinating a lot (like every 15 minutes) that I actually started to feel pain during urination, irregular heart rhythm (very fast), and more... I took six pills the first day, once in the morning, and on the day after, I quit. That was enough for me, I could not bear it anymore. It felt like poison to me and it didn’t even solve my knee problem. To my surprise, some of the side effects lasted for almost a year after I stopped taking it. But thank goodness I think it’s over by now. It was awful and I wish I knew better before I took it. I think that if it's not a life-threatening condition, there is no way that I'm using it in the future!!! And I wish they would find some substitute for this ASAP."

Methylprednisolone for Osteoarthritis "Truly a quality of life improver. I can't thank my doctor enough for giving me this prescription when I have debilitating flare-ups. Just have to rest and not over-exert your joints when on this medicine. Let the swelling subside before returning to normal activities. For me, 2-3 days, and I feel great."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I have had a bad back since 21. I am 35 years old now. I have suffered in pain at all times, but the occasional flare-up of throwing my back out went from once a year to every day. But then I fell flat on my butt hard a few months ago, and one of the slipped discs decided to push up against my nerve, putting me in complete bed rest. I could barely make it to the toilet, and sitting on the toilet was hell, not to mention the wonderful job of wiping! Finally went to a back doctor, she gave me this. So far, a miracle. I am only on day 3, but the pain went from an unbearable 10 to a bearable 5. I have some side effects happening: insomnia, diarrhea, but I could not sleep anyway with the pain, and I need to move around! Good luck to you all."

Methylprednisolone for Gout, Acute "My first experience with gout. Woke up with left foot pain, thought I got a spider bite while I slept. Quickly worsened, where walking was very difficult. Called a foot and ankle specialist who got me in that day. He identified the condition as gout and prescribed MethylPREDNISolone Tablets 4 mg dose pack. Instructed to take the initial dose at once with my dinner meal. The pain, swelling, and discomfort subsided quickly, and by the next morning, little discomfort remained. Completed the course of medication over the six days, but the condition was resolved in two days. This medication worked very well for me."

Methylprednisolone for Allergic Rhinitis "I took this for one day only and experienced far worse symptoms. My heart was racing the entire night; I felt like I was having a heart attack. I had severe anxiety; I was sweaty, yet had the chills. I slept maybe 1 hour the entire night and tossed and turned hundreds of times. I felt sick to my stomach with overbearing nausea. I experienced abdominal pain the next day. I am discontinuing taking this. I would not recommend it to anyone."

Methylprednisolone for Gout, Acute "I usually wait to take this drug in the hope that the gout pain will pass. I always regret not taking it right away. You feel relief in a couple of hours, and I have never had a side effect or stomach upset. For me, it works great. Sometimes though, the day after I take the last pill, my toe knuckle swells up again. I wait again to restart the dose."

Methylprednisolone for Inflammatory Conditions "I was diagnosed with acute laryngopharyngitis which inflamed my throat, tonsils, and mouth. My body didn't react to amoxicillin, so I spent a whole weekend in severe pain. Went to my doctor's office at 10 am on Monday, was hospitalized by 1 pm, received Solu-Medrol by 2 pm, and was pain-free by 7 pm. Over the course of three days, I was very moody, experienced stomach and chest pain, constipation, and couldn't sleep, but once discharged after 3 days of treatment, I was back to my old self within 48 hours. The side effects are bad, but the effects are heaven-sent for pain and inflammation. I have heard the same about Multiple Sclerosis and gout sufferers. God bless you all!"

Methylprednisolone for Neuralgia "I have a pinched nerve in my neck, the pain radiating into my arm is so intense I had tears in my eyes, and I'm a guy who can handle discomfort! This was unbearable, I couldn't sleep, etc. My doctor prescribed me this Medrol Dosepak. It was and is a godsend, a miracle! First day and after the first few pills, I felt brand new again. Zero pain! Was able to sleep, etc., however, once I ran out, the pain came right back. I will need another solution such as a steroid injection, etc., but man, this Dosepak is amazing, it just completely stops the pain! I had no side effects at all. I also received my COVID-19 shot while on the Dosepak, but the doctor said it shouldn't at all interfere, so that went well too! Anyway, I was desperate for relief from the intense pain, and this Dosepak did the trick, fantastic! But again, it's not something you can keep taking, so a more permanent solution will be needed."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I just took my last pill from a 6-day cycle. I felt relief in pain from the first day. It's strange, I can feel sensation where the pain was, but it doesn't hurt. It's like it's still there but not hurting. No side effects except a little tired. I'm praying this neck and shoulder pain stays away."
