Methylnaltrexone for Constipation, Drug Induced "The first time I took this, it worked within 5 minutes. I continued to take as directed for the next month. Absolutely nothing. Other than severe cramps, sweating, flushed, sick. I have been on and off of this for over 6 months. It has only worked 1 more time in 6 months."

Methylnaltrexone for Constipation, Chronic "My 1st 12 mg injection cramped me severely with sweating & nausea. Got to go about 20 mins later, had been 4 days. Have been on pain meds for 21 yrs and finally found this medicine. Getting ready for 2nd injection, hope the cramping ain't as bad as the first time."

Methylnaltrexone for Constipation, Drug Induced "My doctor just put me on Relistor. It's been 6 weeks since I had a small bowel movement. This is my 6th day of 12mg shots, and I've only had one small bowel movement, like a rabbit! Something’s gotta give. I have cramps, nausea, sweating like crazy, severe cramps. I don't know what to do next? Help."

Methylnaltrexone for Constipation, Drug Induced "I've been on a variety of pain meds since 2006 from a 92# tree limb falling on me and had become quite impacted and constipated because of them. After years of trying many, many different kinds of laxatives and eating plenty of fruits, my doctor finally asked me today (while refilling my Medtronic morphine pump) if I had ever tried this injection. He gave me a sample and told me to be close to a toilet, so I just now gave myself the injection, now that I'm home. So far, the only thing I'm feeling is activity in my stomach as if things will be happening soon... no bad cramps, headache, sweats... just motion in my stomach. It started almost immediately, and now half an hour has passed and I am still waiting... Will keep you posted..."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "Relistor injectable does work! Though it does cause abdominal pain, sweats, chills, but in 30 minutes you can expect relief."

Methylnaltrexone for Opioid-Induced Constipation "I've been on opiates for 20 years and have struggled with constipation. It seems to be getting worse all the time. I drink Milk of Magnesia throughout the day in an effort to produce a bowel movement. I've tried Movantik and Linzess, Dulcolax, Miralax, Senna, and Colace with no luck. Last night I went to the ER because I hadn't pooped in 5 days, and I was in pain. They gave me Relistor, and within 20 minutes I exploded, but it was just brown water and no poop. I had about 5 bowel movements, about every five minutes, but none produced any poop, just water. I also experienced cold sweats and severe cramping and back pain, which passed quickly. I was home in two hours after the injection, and I didn't have any more bowel movements, so my problem wasn't solved. I'm still constipated, and I'm afraid I might be obstructed or impacted. So I guess I'll be headed back to the ER when I can peel myself away from my heating pad and comfy bed. This is miserable!"
