For Osteoarthritis "72-year-old healthy female with minor arthritis in my neck. I have been on one meloxicam daily dose of 7.5 mg for 3 weeks. I just stopped taking it because of experiencing about 6 side effects. Thankfully, my neck pain is not extreme. If it were, I may have continued taking it. Side effects, which worsened in week two to week three: weight gain - this was during the Christmas holiday, so I may have actually put on about 2 lbs, but I have gained about 7 lbs around my middle. Dizziness has increased in week three. Sometimes I have trouble walking or getting up. Facial swelling, particularly in the eyelids, but also across my nose and cheeks (sinus area). Bloating and swelling on hands. Sadness, crying. Hoarseness. Confusion, got my days mixed up and more."

For Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis "I started taking meloxicam after my hip filled up with fluid, along with another medication. It seemed to help for a little while, and sometimes I would forget to take it. When I had another flare-up and started to take it regularly again, I gained 6 lbs in about a week, and I didn't change my eating habits. I don't think I would recommend taking it regularly and would talk to your doctor about changing directions if that's what they instructed."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I just read all through the comments, and they have been very helpful. I’ve been taking meloxicam for about 16 months. Also Gabapentin, omeprazole, and 5 mg Narco. When I first went to my new doctor, I weighed 186 pounds. Mind you, I’ve been a slim person all my life. 6’3” and always weighed around 180-200 pounds, and I’m 49 right now. Over the course of several months, I noticed my stomach was getting bigger, and my clothes were much tighter. I went back to my doctor on my 3-month schedule and weighed in as usual, and every 3 months I had gained like 9-12 pounds. As others have stated on here about them not changing their diet, it’s the same case with me. My diet hasn’t changed hardly at all, and I’m still gaining weight."

For Osteoarthritis "I started taking these as a way to control arthritic back pain. Another doctor friend told me, 'That stuff will really put on the weight, and you'll never get it off.' I never took it again!"
