Imodium (loperamide) for Diarrhea, Chronic "I have had chronic diarrhea for 20 years. I could not eat without experiencing diarrhea, had accidents in public places. The first thing I did when entering a new building was locate the restroom. I frequently had to leave my classroom unattended to run--no running would have been disastrous--carefully walk to the nearest restroom and have embarrassingly flatulent and explosive bouts of diarrhea. I finally started self-medicating, taking one tablet in the morning and one before supper. I have two normal bowel motions a day. No more diarrhea now. My life has changed!"

Imodium (loperamide) for Diarrhea, Chronic "This medication has worked great for my ibs-d. I’ve had ibs-d for 15 years and nothing has helped me until I started taking 1 Imodium per day in the morning after first bm. I used to have to go to the bathroom 3-5 times every morning. Now I go once most days, sometimes twice. This drug works on the opioid receptors in the gut and causes gut motility to slow, it has really worked for me and has changed my life for the better. I actually have a life now and don’t have to worry about where the bathroom is all the time. Good luck everyone !"

Imodium (loperamide) for Diarrhea, Chronic "Worst packaging EVER!!!! Who would design packaging that requires scissors to access EACH PILL!!!??? Every time, which is often, I need to take the pills I end up frustrated with bleeding fingers! Why can't someone design a small bottle with pills inside it like most meds??? And do NOT suggest I drink the disgusting liquid. Very frustrated user!"

Imodium (loperamide) for Diarrhea, Chronic "I have IBS plus I'm lactose intolerant and have struggled with this for 5 years now so far and for 3 years I was unable to enjoy a meal because as soon as I ate, I was in the bathroom. When I take imodium now for the past 2 years, I can actually eat meals and it wont bother my stomach. I feel normal and go to the bathroom normally but if I miss a day and don't take the pills, I am back to going to the bathroom after every meal. Imodium has really helped me. Especially when it triggers in the morning, so it helps me to be able to go to work at 5am. There are somedays I didn't have pills and could not go into work because I could not stop using the bathroom. I love imodium!"

Imodium (loperamide) for Diarrhea, Chronic "Me and my sister both have on going diarrhea. Every. Single. Day. 1-2 times a day for me but more for her. All females in our family have it. It’s our family curse. But we took 2 of these pills for only TWO days and we didn’t have any intestinal activity for the next FIVE days. From taking TWO tablets for TWO days (so we took ONLY 4 mg each day, once a day, for only two days) So we took that tiny, small amount and didn’t have even a slight cramp, not even a bubble in our intestine, nothing. for five days. This never ever happens and we both were somewhat constipated still even on day 5. Idk how anyone is saying it didn’t work. It definitely worked for us at least."

Imodium (loperamide) for Diarrhea, Chronic "I have IBS and had a bad flare up. 4 weeks of tests and constant diarrhea, they finally confirmed there was no infection so allowed me to take Immodium. I chose the plus comfort as I also have stomach pains. Followed instructions and took 2, I don't mean to be crude, but I am elated to say that the next day I managed a normal BM for the first time in a month! Not noticed any help with the stomach pains/bloating but has definitely helped the flare up!"

Imodium (loperamide) for Diarrhea, Acute "Acute diarrhea .Was told by the pharmacist I could safely take Immodium while on (blood thinner) Eliquis. I had acute diarrhea and my stools were looking like there was blood in it. Very scary. Followed directions 100% and after 2 doses was so much better. Even got to sleep some. Felt like a miracle in an OTC product. Thank you so much. Symptoms disappeared after 2 doses. No bloody stools no pain.100% better Complaint : opening packaging lost three pills somewhere in the carpet. Fourth pill I accidently broke open while in my mouth. Immediately began vomiting. Until there was no more fluid left. GREAT PRODUCT EFFECTIVE ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. No consequences regarding blood thinners. Again, thank you."

Imodium A-D (loperamide) for Diarrhea, Chronic "I have crohns and so have chronic diarrhea I used to be able to afford this med. Now, it is impossible. As for packaging... it is always important to make the product so hard to get out of the packaging I end up tossing it anyway because so many pills have been damaged just trying to get them out of the packaging. So, I spend 20 minutes cutting them out and putting them into an old bottle to make them easier to access. So tired of being treated like crud because I need the meds others abuse. On top of that I can't buy online anymore. I am not able to get out most days due to my condition. I used to be able to have it sent to the house, now even that is impossible."

Imodium A-D (loperamide) for Diarrhea "I have had IBS-D most of my life. Until Imodium came along, I had to stay home... I use the Imodium Multi-Symptom more often than the Imodium AD for one specific reason - the ease of accessing the pill. The packaging for the AD is absolutely, beyond a doubt one of the dumbest every conceived! Definitely not something you can have handy in your purse or wallet. You'd never be able to get to it in an emergency. You have to use scissors to cut the tiny pill out! But, with the Imodium Multi-Symptom, you simply bend the corner at the perforation, pull the paper back and access the pill. It is a larger pill so for people who have difficult swallowing, you may want to buy a small bottle of Imodium - no individual packages to mess with."

Imodium (loperamide) for Diarrhea, Acute "After 5 years of stomach cramps and less than 1 minute of warning, I finally gave up on my PCP and started doing my own dietary analyzations. My daughter worked at a fantastic bakery, she would bring home the "day old" breads and bagels that didn't sell. Long story short; I overdosed on the best of the best at every meal and snack time. The culprit was GLUTEN, some days I was fine then all of a sudden 2 weeks worth of cramps and runs. Then I gave up on bread, pizza and pasta, which is a terrible thing for an Italian raised on the best foods. Breaded anything I now try to avoid, chicken, fish, fast foods. When the runs and cramps go away for weeks, I can risk a slice of pizza IF I take a Gluten enzyme pill 20 minutes before I eat. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't then out comes the Imodium, 3 before bed and 2 in the AM. In a day or so it's calmed down my IBS from whatever it caused it.."

Imodium (loperamide) for Diarrhea, Acute "If I eat meat, spicy foods, or dairy products, especially if it is later in the day, I sometimes get acute diarrhea at night. This is sometimes accompanied by pain that is bad enough to double me over. Imodium has always stopped the diarrhea, and the pain that I get with it, and almost always within two doses. As the bottle suggests, I take two pills after the first loose stool, and one after any subsequent loose stool. Although other medicines (such as Pepto-Bismal / Kaopectate) can also be helpful, whenever I sense that these symptoms are starting, I think of Imodium right away, because I know there is a very high probability that it will make the period of discomfort be as short as possible."

Imodium (loperamide) for Traveler's Diarrhea "I had loose almost diarrhea stools for almost three months after a trip to Florida. I began to seriously worry, so before going to a doctor took a dose (2 pills) of Imodium. I returned to normal in 2 days and have had no problem since. One dose fixed a 3 month long problem! Read the directions. It said to take a second dose after a second event of loose stools. I might have taken another dose that night after the first if I had read read the instructions carefully. I suspect some of the reviewers who had stomach pains might have done that, because I had NO discomfort. Just an almost miraculous immediate return to normal movements. Thank you makers!"

For Diarrhea, Chronic "I have Crohn's disease, and I take loperamide during flares so I don't have to be on the toilet all the time. It doesn't get rid of the other stuff like cramps, nausea, weight loss, or fatigue, but it does something for my diarrhea. It made my flares easier to manage at school and work, as I don't have to be racing to the bathroom all the time, then having to leave early as a result of my sickness. However, I had to rate it less than a 10 as it doesn't always work. The problem is I have malabsorption due to small intestinal inflammation, so sometimes the medicine might not work. Roughage will make it not work either. So, I can't just eat whatever I want while taking this. I still have to eat a bland low-roughage/residue diet."

Imodium (loperamide) for Diarrhea "This stuff works well... maybe a little too well. I used it multiple times daily for a few weeks (mostly because I am just paranoid) and I ended up severely and dangerously constipated. I am having to get a colonic to remove the stool that has built up inside of me as a result of chronic use of this drug. All in all, it really does work, but you should seriously limit how often you take it. It will make you extremely constipated and painfully bloated if you overdo it. Don’t make the same mistake I did. 5/10 rating for effectiveness, but bad side effects when used long term."

For Diarrhea "I was born in 1958 and have had intestinal pain since I was a child. I thought it was just part of growing up and never told anybody. As a young adult the pain became to much to handle and I started seeing all kinds of doctors. To make a long story short loperamide controls the pain I had to endure for years. Better than prescribed medicine and at a much better price. I have been taking it for a good twenty or so years now. I do not wait for the problems to start, I take one in the morning and one at bedtime everyday. If I feel an intestinal virus coming on I double it. It is very rare now for me to get that double over pain for hours. To me it's a miracle drug."

For Diarrhea, Chronic "I've suffered from diarrhea most of my life, but it became worse after having my non-functioning gall bladder removed. I had several accidents at work, driving to work, etc. I changed my route to work to ensure that I knew where all the bathrooms were. My gastro at the time said the diarrhea was not related to the surgery. Switching to another gastro saved my life. He diagnosed me with Bile salt Mal-absorption syndrome, which occurs in many postcholecystectomy patients. He ordered Welchol to help regulate the excess bile and recommend Immodium. I now take 2 Welchol a day in the morning and then follow with 2 Immodium tablets. Then around noon, take 2 calcium Carbonate tablets. This combination has given me my life back. No diarrhea and fewer problems with mush poo. It took a while to figure out the best time and combination for me."
