For Underactive Thyroid "Tirosint dosing needs to be better understood. It is much stronger mcg by mcg than levothyroxine as traditionally prepared. I ended up in the emergency room with a pulse of 207 and a TSH of 0.007 after taking a 25 mcg lower dose of Tirosint than generic, 150 mcg Tirosint instead of 175 mcg levothyroxine. Still way too much. I have taken hormone supplements for over 45 years, and this has never happened before I took Tirosint. Be very careful. I changed back to generic after a $7,000 ER visit."

For Hashimoto's disease "I was on levothyroxine for 10 years, and it never did anything for me. My levels were never optimal, and I continued to gain weight, be depressed, and waste money on a useless drug. So far with the Tirosint, my only side effect is a slight headache. For the first time in my life, my hormone levels are excellent, but my wallet is empty. Tirosint is ridiculously expensive. I use a compounding house that sells a month's supply to me for $68 (Willow), as opposed to the $125 per month that CVS wanted. I feel the price is a disgrace, and something needs to be done about this. I have insurance that does not cover this drug (BCBS). My doctor gave me a discount coupon for $35 a month, but Blue Cross Blue Shield would not honor it. Ask your doc for this."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I took my first dose of Tirosint in the morning, and within a half hour, my ears started ringing, and I got a bad headache. By the time it was bedtime, I felt so nervous and shaky that I never fell asleep. It was an awful experience. The next day, I went back to my Synthroid."

For Underactive Thyroid "I was excited to switch from Synthroid to Tirosint because my doctor told me that it was gluten-free compared to other medications. I have been on it for a little over a month after switching from Synthroid, and I feel so terrible: anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, lots of hair loss, and weight is stuck, and my goiter in my neck is enlarged again. I called my doctor because I want to go back on my Synthroid. I did read that some people do better on it than others, and I believe it is just not for me."

For Underactive Thyroid "I've been on Tirosint for over 6 years now. I tried Synthroid and even Armour. Nothing worked until Tirosint. I started with 25 mcg and went up to 50 mcg and have been on 50 mcg like forever. My levels went from 14 to 8, then to 6, then to 4. Then I went back up to 8 and my doctor increased me to 75 mcg. Well, I thought I was going to die. The headaches, the fatigue, seeing spots, feeling dizzy, stomach discomfort, etc. Then some kind of lump developed on the right side of my neck. Like some kind of alien moving along my neck line & as it was happening, I called for my husband and said, 'What is that thing!!!!' So, I just put myself back on the 50 mcg and within 2 weeks felt better but not totally better. I think by increasing my med to 75 mcg was not a good plan by my doctor. I always say if it isn't broke, don't fix it!!!"

For Hashimoto's disease "Love Tirosint. My hair is back and fingernails are not broken anymore. Feel great. Was on Armour for 6 years, got hair loss and lost beautiful nails. Previous meds gave me heart palpitations and I was not able to sleep. This med is the real deal, but it's too expensive."

For Hashimoto's disease "ON Tirosint for about 4 months. I certainly have more energy. I have been on Synthroid, Levoxyl, levothyroxine, and Nature Throid, this seems to work the best. BUT I keep getting rashes in odd places, like my chest and now the backs of my shins. I am starting to think it is the meds, as I have not switched detergents, and the one I use is free of scent and dyes. Anyone else suffer with rashes on Tirosint? I won't stop, because the rash is better than the way I felt before Tirosint."

For Underactive Thyroid "I had been on levothyroxine for about 6 years with no problems. I got a new doctor closer to my home, and he switched me to this drug. On it, just 2 weeks, I got severe anxiety attacks (hyperventilating). He has given me samples, so I do not know if this will be covered by my insurance yet. I got a blood test, and he said the levels were fine, that I should see my internist for my anxiety. NOT. I will go back on my regular meds for 2 weeks, then try this again. I think it is this drug."

For Underactive Thyroid "My doctor switched me on Monday to Tirosint from levoxyl, and after 4 days, I'm going back to my old medicine, and I thank God I still have some because I can't go another day with these headaches, fatigue, and muscle aches. I've been on levoxyl, Synthroid, and levoxyl, and none have made me feel this horrible. I was planning on dealing with it to see if the symptoms would go away, but I work doing payroll and taxes, and this medicine is making me work really slow and making errors, so I don't have the luxury to wait and see if, in time, I feel better. What I don't understand, from what I've been reading, is that this is a more pure form of levoxyl, so if he's giving the same dosage, wouldn't it mean he's overmedicating me? I haven't talked to him yet."

For Hashimoto's disease "I was diagnosed in 2001 with Hashimoto's and just always knew since I was young I was different. I was always tired, insomniac, mental fog with no metabolism. Puberty made it worse, and pregnancy sent me into a storm. Years of misdiagnosis and remedies, I had been on Synthroid for years, with my numbers saying I was therapeutic, but I felt no better. I took myself off all meds and spoke with my nurse practitioner about trying something new. Tirosint has made me feel so much better. I have internal energy, it's making me feel like getting back into the gym and motivated. Downside is cost. In 4 months, it's gone up twice, paid $104 today. It hurts us financially, but I can't put a price on my health. Guess I'll eat less, get that benefit too :)"

For Underactive Thyroid "I have had an underactive thyroid for 8 years. I could not handle Synthroid and was always going off. I like Tirosint, at first, I am only on a small dosage of 13, but my hair was falling out so badly that I started taking 2 pills during Corona because of no doctor. It stopped hair breakage, but if I take too much, I get headaches and have trouble sleeping. But now if I take 13 only, I get bad depression and my hair falls out again. Overall, I like the meds. I am diagnosed with Hashimoto's, and this is just my life-my own thyroid not being regulated. I have a bad headache today, so I can't take 2 tomorrow, so I guess I can prep for severe depression. Oy vey!"

For TSH Suppression "I bless Tirosint, after suffering so many gastrointestinal and allergic problems with Synthroid. Tirosint has made all these disappear, and I feel more normal again, even in just a week of switching. Cost is the only criteria. I am told you can get coupons."

For Hashimoto's disease "I was so excited to find this medication. I had previously been on Synthroid and its generic for over 20 years with no problems and suddenly became intolerant with debilitating side effects. We tried adding Cytomel, which caused terrible heart palpitations, and then tried Armour, also causing terrible heart palpitations and chest pain, both meds were reduced greatly with the same effect. I finally found Tirosint and did wonderfully on it for over 6 months. Then my stomach had severe issues. Through specialists and so many tests, treatments, and a whole lot of money, we finally stopped Tirosint on a whim. I'm all better stomach-wise, but out of options otherwise. Since even compounded T4 uses fillers, I have no more options."

For Hashimoto's disease "So I’m still very new to trying Tirosint. I started on 100 mcg, which I personally felt was way too much! I had my doctor send over for a lower dose of 25 mcg. It is still too new to really say besides it makes me cold, where without it I’m hot or having hot flash-type symptoms. I really want to know why the company packages it in an odd number. A pack is 28 and not 30. My pharmacy is charging for a 30-day pack, but I’m getting 28 days' worth???? Is there some class action suit needed to be taken on the drug company or CVS pharmacy?!?"

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "This is the third medication I have been on since my thyroid removal. Tirosint seems smoother than Synthroid. However, I have had a lot of gastrointestinal issues and sleep issues while on Tirosint. My quality of life is now very poor. Since Tirosint is better than the other two medications I tried, I will remain on it."

For Hashimoto's disease "My doctor recently changed my T4 medication from Synthroid to Tirosint. Even though we lowered the dose to 100 mcg from 110, I feel like it is still high. I am going to try taking it every other day to see how that works and do a blood test in a couple of weeks. Anyone with the same experience?"

For Hashimoto's disease "I have been taking Tirosint for a week, and it makes me feel great! More energy, sense of well-being, and less water retention. I have no side effects until now. I am Italian, and in Italy, the price is 7.40 euro (8.30 $) for a one-month supply. I take a package with 30 (not 28!), 50 mg each. So I can't understand why you pay so much, and I'm sorry for you."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "Had started on Synthroid after thyroidectomy. Felt terrible for 2 years. Went on WP Thyroid & was doing fairly well on that for 2 years until the shortage. Started out on 112 dose. This was too high, but so far I'm feeling good on 100 dose. Better than when I was on any of the 3 desiccated thyroid meds I had tried (WP, NP, Naturethroid). So glad they make this! My only comment is 28 pills in a refill. I get mine every 90 days, so I'm shorted. It's not logical."

For Hashimoto's disease "I am allergic to the binders in most meds. Tirosint has been a game changer for me. My thyroid med no longer makes me sick. It is very pricey here, $153.00 was for a 28-day supply, now has changed to a 30-day supply. (I do not have insurance currently.) With insurance, I was paying $83.00 a month."

For Hashimoto's disease "Thyroid was removed a year ago for papillary cancer, been on levothyroxine since. Gained 20 pounds on generic levothyroxine and felt awful, would wake up with a puffy face and eyes even though blood tests showed in range. My endo just switched me to Tirosint, and after one week I feel so much better. My face and legs are retaining less water, the last time I felt this good was prior to my thyroidectomy. I have celiac and Crohn's, which probably caused absorption issues. I also hate dairy, and generic levothyroxine has a dairy base, go figure."

For Underactive Thyroid "Was recently switched over to Tirosint since I’ve been taking the generic levothyroxine pill since I was 12 years old. I’m currently 21 now and I’ve had palpitations, tiredness, and chest pain on and off for about 2 months now. I feel as if my symptoms are starting to get better with this new medication. Tirosint has worked wonders for me, I believe it’s because of no filler and better absorption! Of course, with most medication, there can be small side effects, and I seemed to have gotten worse palpitations…but they finally subsided. It takes a little while for the medication to do its thing, so don’t get discouraged."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I've been on Tirosint for roughly 3 years. I was on NP before, and Synthroid before that. I had a TT 8 years ago. I've lost nearly 50 pounds. This is the most normal I've felt after my surgery. I still have some dislikes about Tirosint, but I choose this over the others. One of the things on Tirosint is if my levels are off, even just a smidge, my menstrual cycle will go haywire. Sometimes stopping altogether. I also feel I deal with more anxiety. This was something I noticed after my surgery but is more prominent on Tirosint. I try to counteract that by taking an omega supplement. Also, I started to develop hives just a few hours after taking it. The endo said Tirosint wasn't the cause, but I had literally fasted from everything but water for 48 hours to try to figure the hives out. After speaking with the pharmacist, they advised me to take it with coffee first thing in the morning. That did the trick. Tirosint is very potent, so have labs checked every 4-6 months."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "After trying three different medicines and a countless number of dosage combinations, we found out that my body was not absorbing the tablets properly, and the gel capsules allow my body to absorb the proper amounts. After having thyroid cancer at 15 and not being able to find anything that really worked, I'm glad we tried this. The only downside is the cost since it is almost triple what I have been paying for every other medication."

For Underactive Thyroid "In February, I was switched from name-brand Synthroid to Tirosint 25 mcg. I also take Cytomel 5 mcg. Since then, a month later, I am fatigued, pain in joints, especially in hands, wrists, legs, ankles, and very irritable. I'm not sure if Tirosint is the cause, but nothing has really changed to make me feel like this. I'm guessing it has to be from Tirosint."

For Hashimoto's disease "Totally agree with Babs. My prescription price doubled, and now I cannot afford the medication. Not sure what happened starting in 2019, other than the company doubling the price and insurance companies refusing to cover the difference. My insurer dropped it from their covered prescriptions totally. Such a shame. This will really mess with those that depend on this medication."
