For Underactive Thyroid "A word of caution about levothyroxine - not all levothyroxine drugs are equal. I recently experienced a nasty episode with generic levothyroxine because the manufacturer changed the formula (replaced lactose with mannitol) which made me very sick for months (dizziness, nausea, over tiredness, chest pain, and arrhythmia). It took a while to figure out since there was no communication of a 'change' from the manufacturer. The switch to 'Tirosint' was a lifesaver! Right away, the symptoms subsided. It is so important to check the excipients (fillers). Tirosint has glycerin, water, levothyroxine, that's it! As an NTI drug (narrow therapeutic index), I would never risk the generic again. I was too sick and spent too much money with docs who couldn't find anything wrong with me! After doing research, I asked for just ask for the brand - I am so glad as it solved all of my 'issues'!"

For Hashimoto's disease "I was prescribed Tirosint-SOL in May 2020 for Hashimoto's disease. The first month was fine with slight heart racing at night. Then on July 1, I had chest pains during the night. I stopped taking Tirosint and called my doctor. At first, I thought it was COVID-19, and I got tested - it was negative. I stopped taking all thyroid medicine. I had chest pains throughout July. Well, long story short, I had an emergency triple bypass operation on July 27. I am 65 years old and without any other health issues. I do NOT recommend this medication. The side effects can be awful. I do not want anyone to go through this experience."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I loved it for the first month. Then, I developed agonizing headaches and chest pains. Had to go to the ER four times in pain. They could not do anything. Seven months later, I am still in pain and have to go to a gastro specialist to find out what is wrong in my stomach. It is really scary. I think it gave me some kind of ulcers in my stomach."

For Hashimoto's disease "I hope that the FDA is reviewing and testing Tirosint. Thought I was going to die after only taking a low dose of Tirosint for a few days. Chest pains, extreme disorientation, very sick, could not stop crying. The hospital did not know what to do. My pharmacist suggested drinking lots of water to get it out of me, which I did. Nightmare experience!!!"

For Hashimoto's disease "I was so excited to find this medication. I had previously been on Synthroid and its generic for over 20 years with no problems and suddenly became intolerant with debilitating side effects. We tried adding Cytomel, which caused terrible heart palpitations, and then tried Armour, also causing terrible heart palpitations and chest pain, both meds were reduced greatly with the same effect. I finally found Tirosint and did wonderfully on it for over 6 months. Then my stomach had severe issues. Through specialists and so many tests, treatments, and a whole lot of money, we finally stopped Tirosint on a whim. I'm all better stomach-wise, but out of options otherwise. Since even compounded T4 uses fillers, I have no more options."

For Hashimoto's disease "Horrible medication. As a 65-year-old with a recent diagnosis of Hashimoto's disease, I was on this drug for 2 months. The second month, things got worse. Chest pains, not sleeping, terrible muscle aches. Well, I ended up in the emergency room with chest pains, which led to a triple bypass operation! This drug should be off the market!"
