For Angina "Isosorbide mononitrate 10 mg twice a day was prescribed by the hospital doctor for possible angina, and I have never felt so ill! Taken for 2 days, but never again! It did stop my brief chest pains, but I've had the worst ever headache for the whole time, even waking me up in the night, and which painkillers won't touch. Also hurts down my neck and side of my face and makes me feel sick. Just horrendous. Phoned GP, who is changing them for beta blockers as fewer side effects."

For Angina Pectoris Prophylaxis "This was given for angina after by-pass for coronary artery disease. I also have a disease called Raynaud's disease, which causes spasm, pain, and cold hands and feet. When the hands spasm, they are cold, asleep, and very painful. First white, then blue and red with the return of blood flow. You spend your time trying to get the blood flow to return: heat, movement of hands. With isosorbide, I can live without the pain and spasms. Thank you for this medicine."

For Angina "I've been on it for 8 days. The dosage is 30 mg. I'm having a stiff neck and the most terrible headache. It is for angina. It is helping the chest pain. They say after a few weeks, headaches will subside. I sure hope so."

Isosorbide mononitrate for Angina "Dr. increased me from 30 to 60 two days ago. Been on 30 for 17 years. Was no longer helping angina or high blood pressure. It seems to be helping pressure but having some chest pain. Also have severe COPD."

For Angina "My blood pressure started going up about two years after bypass surgery, and they started me on 30 mg, and my blood pressure has gone down and stabilized. My chest pain has gone away. No headache, and the only thing is my sleep is not as good."

For Angina "I started taking isosorb 30 mg ER 2 months ago. I only took it for 7 days. I'm still sick, but I found out what they don't tell you: this medication can cause severe electrolyte imbalance. This takes all the sodium and vitamins out of your body and can result in death if not treated."

Isosorbide mononitrate for Angina Pectoris Prophylaxis "My mother was prescribed Imdur after heart attack stent placement. She had horrible body aches and felt like her body was crushed, the worst pain of her life, she said. Plus, her feet were on fire and her body was ice cold. She was shivering and couldn't see, so it affected her eyes too."

For Angina "The first day I tried this drug, I became very dizzy and had difficulty walking. After three days, I tried my first driving, and it was frightening, to say the least. I have asked my doctor if I can stop taking it because I cannot live with this drug. In addition, I asked if this improves with usage or remains this way. It might be interacting with one of my other prescriptions, I just don't know."

"I have been on isosorbide for a while, but want to stop it. But every time I miss a pill, I get a terrible headache, flushing, dizziness, and nausea. So I read I can't stop taking it suddenly, I have to cut the dosage. Overall, it affects something in your head, as well as your heart. It has nitrate in it."

For Angina Pectoris Prophylaxis "My GP suspected (and after pressure wire angiogram) I was diagnosed with variant (Prinzmetal) angina. I have been taking isosorbide mononitrate 30 mg successfully for a year. The headaches were awful at first, but by 'titrating' the (strictly once a day) dose (that is, gradually increasing it to the prescribed strength over a period of a couple of months), the side effects were minimized. My GP was helpful in this regard by selecting tablets that could be halved, quartered, and of lower strength than the target dose, while working up to the full dose. The frequency episodes of chest pain have reduced from almost daily to about 1 day in 10, and the intensity of pain reduced from excruciating to quite mild."

For Heart Failure "I recently had 2 stents placed in my heart. I was put on 60 mg ER Indur. I have been on it for 30 days. The headaches are horrendous, body aches, back pain, dizziness, extreme exhaustion, mental confusion. I feel like my brain is in a constant state of confusion. The headaches are still bad 30 days later. When I stopped taking the medication, all the symptoms eventually left, including my chest pains. I might have had better results if they had started me on a lower dose. I do not want to take this medication anymore."

For Angina "10/10. On 30 mg ER isosorbide, for angina after RCA (right coronary artery) stent closed in 3 months after stenting for the 3rd time due to scar tissue. Dr. said take one tablet before going to the gym and workout aerobics hard as you can. Did this for 4 weeks and dropped the pills, and angina was gone. I created natural bypass. Sounds crazy but true. With the presence of NO and pressure from workout, arteriogenesis (new artery creation to bypass blockage). NO = nitric oxide. It’s a miracle to me after 3 stents blocked with scar tissue. Best part is I can use it if needed. 10/10 a miracle drug to me."

For Angina Pectoris Prophylaxis "I've been taking isosorbide 30 mg ER, dose 3 times a day for years to help angina. I also have a pacemaker. No headaches, and I feel better than I did before this medicine was prescribed by my cardiologist."

Isosorbide mononitrate for Angina "I took my first dose at 12:30 pm, went to work, no unusual symptoms. At 12:30 am I woke up with my left foot feeling odd. My big toe was standing straight up toward the ceiling, no pain like a spasm. The only way to get it right was standing on the floor. It happened 3 times. Then 10 minutes later, my neck felt constrictive and my jaw and teeth started hurting. This is an indication for me of a heart attack. I went to the ER, EKG was fine, my troponins were great. I got a massive headache. The pain in my neck and jaw lasted 3 solid hours, no relief until the Tylenol kicked in. I will not be taking this medication anymore."

Isosorbide mononitrate for Angina "My husband was prescribed Imdur for chest pain. He suffered involuntary head and arm jerking, nausea, muscle weakness, severe itching, dry mouth, severe edema, and, as he put it, a feeling he couldn't explain, but it felt like something was just tearing him apart inside. This drug should be destroyed."

Isosorbide mononitrate for Angina "Had a week of pretty bad headaches but was told my body would likely adjust. Now on med for a month and feel better than I have in years. Still have palpitations but not the radiating chest pain. Starting to have more energy and sleeping better."

"I had double bypass, and I take 4 pills for high blood pressure. My blood pressure was running high, 170/105, so I was prescribed isosorbide 60 mg extended release. Now my blood pressure is 117/68. 4 pills, I love it. Finally, my blood pressure is managed. I do get the headache, but I take 2 Tylenol, and it’s gone. I am going to experiment with not taking olmesartan, if my pressure is still awesome, I’ll stop it. Then I’ll try not taking the hydralazine slowly. Then I will be at 2 pills of isosorbide and metoprolol."

For Angina "I started this drug on 09/27/2017, Chermydur 60 mg XL tablets, isosorbide mononitrate. I have read some reviews, and I can clearly say most of them sound the same. I took my first tablet before I went to bed and woke up in the morning feeling like I had been hit over the head with a brick. My eyes were hurting, stiff neck, and a severe headache. I am not sure if I am going to carry on taking this medication or give it a chance because I just hate having angina."

For Angina "I take a whole host of medication for high blood pressure - and some narrowing of arteries (as determined by an angiogram). I also cycle quite a lot - 50-100 miles/week. I found that when I took the isosorbide mononitrate, I would get very much out of breath, and it would make me very weak. I effectively stopped taking them over time and feel much better with no symptoms of angina."

Isosorbide mononitrate for Angina "Was started on Imdur 60 mg for nightly chest pain following 2 angios and 5 stents. Initially, it was very effective, and I did not experience any chest pain/tightness, but a fortnight later, the effect is wearing off, and I am again experiencing chest pain at night."

For Angina "My brother was put on this medication on Wednesday; yesterday (Saturday) he was taken to the ER with side effects from this. He felt like his chest was caving in, severe headache, couldn't get warm enough. His blood pressure went severely low, and his heart rate went high. He is still in the hospital today for observation. Would not recommend this drug to anyone."

For Angina Pectoris Prophylaxis "I have been on the medication about a month now. Fortunately, I have not had any headaches, and the chest pain is gone for the most part. The side effects I have had are dizziness, sweats, and feeling faint. So far, the good is outweighing the bad."
