Isosorbide mononitrate for Angina "I was taking 30 mg, and the doc increased the Imdur to 60 mg. Now I have a headache, can’t sleep, feel like everything is moving or spinning, and pain in my neck. My low back feels disconnected when in bed, and all I want to do is vomit. It has been 2 days since the increase."

Isosorbide mononitrate for Angina Pectoris Prophylaxis "I had chest pain and palpitations. I was prescribed Imdur and took 1 tablet. That was the worst 3 days of my life. I prefer the angina to the 'cure.' It caused nausea, vomiting, and intense pain (felt like my body was made of broken glass). Every sound went right through me, and every noise was excruciating. Never again."

For Angina "I was prescribed this medicine for high blood pressure and Raynaud's. The first day I developed a headache. I took two aspirins, which helped somewhat. I had to immediately lay down and rest. I thought the symptoms would get better, so I took the meds the following day. The headache got worse, followed by neck pain. I also felt nausea, chills, and became fatigued. I vomited and felt sick to my stomach. I’m usually a tough person and have a high tolerance, but this medicine made me feel awful! I was literally on bed rest the entire day and didn’t have an appetite. Smells would make me nauseous! I would never, ever take this medicine again or recommend it to anyone!"

For Angina "My daughter was put on this for her resistant high blood pressure. It does the job of lowering her pressure very well, but it makes her heart beat erratically and makes her feel terrible all of the time. Severe headaches, a weak, heavy feeling, nausea, dizziness, and breathlessness. It is really a tough drug to take. We had to stop the extended release and go with the normal one that only lasts a few hours just to give her some relief. Once she gets more used to it, we might go back to ext. release. But in the meantime, it's completely debilitating."

For Angina "Isosorbide mononitrate 10 mg twice a day was prescribed by the hospital doctor for possible angina, and I have never felt so ill! Taken for 2 days, but never again! It did stop my brief chest pains, but I've had the worst ever headache for the whole time, even waking me up in the night, and which painkillers won't touch. Also hurts down my neck and side of my face and makes me feel sick. Just horrendous. Phoned GP, who is changing them for beta blockers as fewer side effects."

"I have been on isosorbide for a while, but want to stop it. But every time I miss a pill, I get a terrible headache, flushing, dizziness, and nausea. So I read I can't stop taking it suddenly, I have to cut the dosage. Overall, it affects something in your head, as well as your heart. It has nitrate in it."

Isosorbide mononitrate for Angina "My husband was prescribed Imdur for chest pain. He suffered involuntary head and arm jerking, nausea, muscle weakness, severe itching, dry mouth, severe edema, and, as he put it, a feeling he couldn't explain, but it felt like something was just tearing him apart inside. This drug should be destroyed."

For Angina "I am only 39 and had my first heart attack on Jan 5th, 2017, caused by a 100% blockage and an 80% blockage. I go back on Jan 31st for another stent, and today, 1/28/17, is my first day taking the 30 mg isosorb mononitrate ER, and it's horrible so far. Bad headache all day, sick to my stomach, and heart palpitations all day. Really feeling like I should go to the ER. Do not recommend this medication."

For Angina "This medication was prescribed to help increase blood flow through a blocked artery (85-90% of the circumflex), although I'm fairly functional. I am also on Metoprolol for blood pressure and a recently prescribed statin, along with baby aspirin. I took 1/2 of my 30 mg pill yesterday and got an annoying headache. Today I took the full pill first thing in the morning and now have a really bad headache bordering on the feel of a migraine, minus the nausea-though I do feel a little queasy. I feel so bad that I am considering discontinuing it-though thanks to some of the reviews here, I will try to take it for a week before making that decision in case I can become accustomed to it. I have stable angina, so at this point, the horrible side effects are not worth it for the supposed benefit. I'd rather get winded and take it slower than be in the state I'm in."

"I took this after a heart stent. I experienced swelling in my legs, and dry, itchy skin, hot, tingly skin, swelling in my face and throat, migraines, dizziness, nausea, dilated veins so much they appeared purple. Dosage 30 mg. Supposed to take it in the morning, but it made me so sick I took it at night."

For Angina "Unfortunately, I had such severe migraine headaches that lasted all day, at least 24 hours. I tried to take a half while still in bed with migraines. I have a blocked artery that can't be stented and had a bypass in 2019. I had blurred vision and nausea. I honestly don't know what to do."
