"I've been coughing for almost two weeks now from a bad sinus infection, and no OTC meds were working for me. So my doctor prescribed this syrup for me, and it has worked wonders. It has greatly reduced my coughing, and I'm able to sleep again. I've only experienced mild dizziness with this medication. And I'm usually knocked out an hour after taking it, which is amazing."

Homatropine / hydrocodone "My allergy doctor gave me Hycodan for my chronic cough of more than 5 years. This stuff works like magic. Stops my cough like nothing else. He also gave me gabapentin. The gabapentin also works, but side effects make me hurt all over. I had only taken Hycodan every once in a while after reading it can be addictive. But with gabapentin side effects, I think I'm going to wean myself off gabapentin and use Hycodan instead. Only thing, insurance doesn't cover Hycodan. I haven't had any bad side effects from Hycodan. I give this medicine a 10. It's wonderful!"

"I took the recommended dosage before bed when prescribed for bronchitis to help suppress cough and allow me some rest. To my extreme disappointment and surprise, one hour later I feel blanketed in a thick, heavy fog but completely unable to sleep because I'm wide awake. For hours. I can barely lift my head off the pillow and if I do, I'm in a world of awful swirls, dizzy, and I'm trying to get my confused body to the toilet before I'm throwing up in my bed. Twenty-four hours and fifteen vomit sessions later, I'd rather have bronchitis. Never again."

Homatropine / hydrocodone "I had a case of acute bronchitis. Was given Tylenol #3 tabs, 1 every four hours as needed for cough. For whatever reason, it didn’t work. They then gave me Tessalon perles. They were totally ineffective. Finally, the ER nurse gave me what she said was 5 cc's of Hycodan. Never heard of it before. Within an hour, my coughing was much less troublesome. I was given a prescription for 120 ml of this cough medicine, and it worked very well. Aside from some sedation, I was able to eat and sleep. This medication is effective for me."

"Was given this today due to week-long cough, congestion, and runny nose due to bronchitis and possible pneumonia (still awaiting X-ray results). Took 1 tsp dose at 5 pm, within 10 minutes had severe nausea and chest pain. Laid down, cold rag... symptoms disappeared suddenly within 10 minutes. Stood up, they came back. Repeated lying down/cold rag... symptoms went away. MIGHT have been because I hadn't eaten since 12:30 pm, but not sure. Only the one dose so far. Did have about 5 minutes of feeling like I was sedated, drifting/dozing off, but that went away also. Cough has virtually disappeared though. Can take Vicodin without having these side effects. Symptoms were identical to when I've had morphine without Zofran immediately following."

Homatropine / hydrocodone "Take exactly the right amount. If you sip it from the bottle, there’s no way you can get the correct dosage. I had some horrible nightmares that if I could re-draw, I know I could make a great horror movie effect. I told my wife that now I think I know what demons look like."

"It worked just OK with the first dose, after that, it didn't do much to control the cough. I also found it did nothing to help get the mucus up. I had no adverse side effects such as nausea, vomiting, or dizziness. This is with a carefully measured dose of one teaspoon. Overall, I found it to be non-effective."

"This medicine is very effective. It not only suppressed my cough, but was a very effective expectorant. It loosened up my very tight-feeling chest - an outcome the other OTC medications failed to provide. One caution: I took a dose when I got up one morning, on an empty stomach, and then went out to do an hour's worth of yard work. Came in and had a big glass of cold grape juice. Within 10 minutes, I vomited the whole lot out. Felt better after a bit, though."

Homatropine / hydrocodone "My dog has an enlarged heart due to a severe heart murmur. He’s been on Hycodan for his dry nonstop coughing for 6 months. It works like a charm. It does cause bowel irregularities, like constipation. I have difficulty finding pharmacies that carry it. It’s sad that vets prescribe drugs that work and people can’t get doctors to prescribe it."

"They gave me 150 mg for my cough so I could actually sleep at night, but it didn't work for me at all. Didn't stop my cough and didn't help me fall asleep, it was pretty pointless because I felt like it wouldn't work. Now I'm running on 2-4 hours of sleep and a cup of coffee at school, trying to do my work."

Homatropine / hydrocodone "Very good cough syrup, immediately helped my hacking cough. Although you will feel sleepy after taking a 5 ml dosage. It's best to take it at night and do not drive."
