For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "INTENSE MOOD SWINGS on Estarylla. That takes a few months to level out. I had to be put back on antidepressants, but different ones that wouldn't interact with the drug. I've also been bleeding for over a month now, and I've been on the Estarylla pill for about 5 months. My face is clear, though. Not pregnant, so I guess it's doing its job??"

For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control for about three or four months now. My doctor prescribed it because I was getting to the point where I was sexually active frequently and she said this one was good, and it is! For pregnancy prevention, at least. But it has a few downsides. This medication makes me very prone to panic attacks, mood swings, and depressed states. When I start a new pack, I always get a little nauseous, and I bloat easily. It's very on and off for period regulation. Sometimes I'm light, sometimes heavy, sometimes no period at all. That being said, my acne is gone, and I'm not pregnant, and my cramping is minimal. Does its job, but not for everybody."

For Birth Control "What a horrible medication!!! I started taking this pill after my 2nd baby. I noticed mood swings, but I thought it was just my hormones after having a baby. But it got worse. After a month of being on this pill, I was either angry or sad all the time, very unhappy. I refused to believe that it could be depression, but I started to find myself crying in my room alone, anxious, just not feeling myself. That is not all. I thought I had some kind of stomach virus for a month, and it wasn't going away: nauseous, vomiting, dizziness, and severe headache. It felt like a stroke waiting to happen. Do not take this pill!!!"

For Birth Control "I was on Estarylla for 3 1/2 months. I had never taken any birth control before starting it. I got bad cramping and heavy spotting in between periods. In the short amount of time taking Estarylla, I gained about 30 pounds without changing my diet or exercising or any other lifestyle changes. I literally went up two pant sizes, and I was so bloated. My moods were completely uncomfortable, and I didn’t even feel like myself. I am still trying to lose the weight, and it’s been 8 months off of all birth control."

For Birth Control "I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for about 4 years, then they made this generic, and it's awful. I was already nervous, considering there have been minimal positive reviews. I had no option but to switch. My mood swings are awful, I am constantly angry. It makes me sick and makes my whole body tingle. DO NOT TAKE THIS! I will be calling my doctor to get off this pill. I refuse to finish the month, it seems to only be getting worse. So once again... Do not take these tablets."

For Birth Control "My pharmacy doesn't carry the Sprintect birth control that I have been using for the past 5 1/2 years anymore and switched me to Estarylla and said, 'It is exactly the same thing.' I have been taking it for 12 days. The acne I have gotten in the past 12 days is out of control. Deep, cystic acne that I have never experienced in my life, all over my face and down my neck and arms. I am 26 years old, and I have pubescent acne all of a sudden. My mood swings have been horrible, and I am exhausted at the end of the day. My poor husband has been avoiding me. I called my doctor today and am switching to a pharmacy that carries the brand I used before Estarylla. I wish I would have done a little research on this pill before taking it!"

For Birth Control "I gave Estarylla a 1 because of my side effects since starting it. The only good thing I can say about it is that I did not become pregnant while on it. Changed insurance last year, and new insurance changed me to Mononessa. Remained normal with my period right on track. Four months ago, insurance changed me again to Estarylla. Since starting Estarylla, I have had extreme weight gain, increased gas to the point of constantly being bloated, very dry skin and acne, mood swings, crying about things that wouldn't bother me normally, increased depression, anxiety, and cramping in my legs. My period became completely off track after years of being balanced. For 4 months, I have not known what day I would start, and either heavy or so light, from 3 to 7 days, and the worst cramps of my life. Went to my GYN last week, and she told me I should have called her sooner. Told her I was trying to give it a fair shot. She changed me to something else, and I can't wait to start it. Estarylla has made me miserable! If you have another option, try that first."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Estarylla negatively impacted my life. I had severe side effects such as abnormal vaginal bleeding, severe headaches, loss of coordination, severe mood swings, sharp pains in my abdominal region, and that’s to just name a few. I would not recommend this brand of birth control to anyone. It was horrible. This pill made things just awful."

For Birth Control "This will be the 6th month I've been on Estarylla, but I'm going to stop taking it and find another birth control. Although it's done its job with preventing pregnancy, this certain pill makes me much more emotionally unstable. Before taking it, I was a social and overall happy person, but now I get upset over the most insignificant things, push people away, and feel anxious/sad more often than I'm happy. :( It's even affected my relationship with my boyfriend because he thinks I'm always sad around him, but it's just this dang pill messing with my emotions! I know medications affect people differently, but from seeing the other reviews, just be warned that this pill can increase depression, mood swings, anxiety, etc."

For Ovarian Cysts "On Estarylla, I have bad mood swings, fast heart rate, chest tightness, anxiety, diarrhea, throwing up bile, hair loss, leg cramps, excessive sweating, and my Dr. said my body needs to adjust. After 3 months, they have gotten so bad that I took myself off of it. Worst ever!!!!"

For Birth Control "I was on Mononessa for over a decade, I believe. Suddenly, the manufacturer stopped production of this product, and I was forced to take the generic, Estarylla. I am on my second day of the placebo pills, month one, and I have already noticed a drastic change in myself. I am extremely moody and emotional-crying at the dumbest things. I have never been so bloated before my period in my entire life as I have this month and have NEVER experienced such bad cramping while on my period and on any birth control. I have spent years getting my weight under control-I am very mindful of my food intake-and I am gaining a great deal of weight without changing my diet at all. I thought I would give this more time because I thought I was just being crazy about blaming this pill for all my issues recently. After reading these reviews, I am certain this pill has had all of these negative effects on me. I will NOT be starting another month of this pill."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "The worst birth control I have ever been on in my entire life! I'm extremely glad I found this site so I can see that other women are experiencing very similar side effects as I am! Due to an MRI I had to get done because of a car accident, my doctor was able to detect a nodule in my liver. I immediately got it checked out. It seems that the birth control caused fatty tissue to develop on my liver. My doctor wants me to get off the pill once I finish with this month's batch. Since I've been on this pill for almost a year, I get non-stop bleeding that looks like a brown dried-up color, and it'll continue for the whole month until I get my period. I get mood swings, nausea, and loss of appetite. If you feel like something is not right, please reach out to your GYN!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I was prescribed the Estarylla pill to control my bleeding on December 9th. I was told to take 3 daily and then 2 for two days. Then 1 until the pack is all gone. I’ve had abnormal bleeding, and my periods are irregular. This was supposed to help. I’ve had nothing but brown and black blood. I’m constantly wearing panty liners. Acne is starting to occur. I thought I was pregnant because my cycle was supposedly late. I’ve bought over 30 pregnancy tests, all gave me false positives. The blood work said I wasn’t. It’s all a big headache. NEVER AGAIN!! Find something else. It’s made me nothing but emotional, more than I’ve ever been. My doctor doesn’t know why I’ve had false positive pregnancy tests. I’m just annoyed."

For Birth Control "I am in the fifth month of taking Estarylla. The reviews are scary, but just like a restaurant, most people only post when they are upset. Most people also have underlying issues. So let's start. PROS: you will always know when your period is, and you can even plan your period, which is nice for birthdays, vacations, etc. You will always have your period during the last week of the pills (the green row). Periods are lighter. Easy to swallow. No mood swings, or weight gain, no cravings (with my last birth control, I was munching every 2 hours, even waking up in the middle of the night with my stomach growling), no breakouts, and no annoying doctor appointments to get injected with something, or have something removed/adjusted. Most importantly, you can stop when you want, and my favorite, you still get your period. Now that I'm older, I feel like a period is needed to detox your body. This pill is pretty easy, you have to let your body get adjusted to the hormones, so of course the first weeks or even months, there are little things."

For Endometriosis "This is by far the worst birth control I have ever taken. Prior to using it, I never experienced depression, anxiety, or negative thoughts, but since starting it, I have been going through intense waves of emotions, anxiety, and mood swings. The mood swings have been particularly severe, making it difficult for me to function at times. It's as if this birth control has intensified my premenstrual syndrome symptoms. I find it absolutely awful."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I started Estarylla four months ago to regulate my periods. I was having a period every two weeks. The first month I took it, I bled for an entire month. When I called the OB-GYN, I was advised to give it three months to regulate my period. Now my period has become erratic and lasts longer than 7 days. This past period started two weeks ago and ceases to let up. Along with prolonged periods, I have experienced stomach nausea, vomiting, anxiety, and extreme mood swings. I plan to visit my OB-GYN soon to discuss new options. This is my first time experiencing a negative reaction to birth control."

For Birth Control "Estarylla is the worst BC ever! My pharmacy filled this instead of my normal BC because they are generic. They have done this a few times, and this is the fourth time I have used this brand. I have my period since day one (every time they switch me to this)... and my cycle is never off with my normal BC. I am emotional, super dehydrated, having panic attacks, weight gain, my acne cleared up, but I am not myself. Very depressed, and my kids and my BF noticed. I'm refusing to take the rest, and I'm already three weeks in. Never again will I take these."

For Acne "I switched to Estarylla from Junel because the hormones just wore off for me. My first period on Estarylla was so much heavier than I was used to, which completely caught me off guard. I also got on this for acne but didn't really notice a drastic change in the first 2 months. I will say I did end up switching after 2 months of usage because of mood swings! I would find myself getting so irritated and frustrated over the simplest of things and could not control my emotions. They got so bad that friends and family thought something was wrong with me. Instead of waiting for the side effects to wear off, I decided to switch without waiting for the side effects to 'wear off.' I never experienced any side effects when my body was getting used to Junel, so I just think Estarylla isn't meant for me, which is fine."

For Birth Control "Been on this birth control for years and haven’t had many problems. I noticed a bit more mood changes when I started, but I also started college and was in a stressful time during the first few years I took it. Not sure if I can blame the birth control or life itself. Was on Sprintec before it got randomly changed to this, but they’ve treated me the same."

For Birth Control "Side effects: migraines every day, gained 25 pounds in 5 months without any lifestyle change, low libido, anxiety, mood swings, horrible menstrual bleeding, tender boobs, but I had GREAT SKIN???, inability to fall asleep. Stopped taking this pill in June (now December) have lost 20 pounds without lifestyle change, boobs do not hurt, way better periods, mood swings and anxiety are gone, no headaches, libido is back and skin went back to normal (I have acne, but compared to every other horrific side effect, this pill gave me I'll happily take the acne). This pill is truly the worst, and any birth control pill for that matter."

For Birth Control "I only took this medication for the first month, but I refuse to continue with it. The first week everything was fine, but over the course of two weeks, I've had extreme mood swings that just kept progressing to the point that I couldn't stand to be near my two-year-old. Every little thing she did set me off, and that terrifies me because I've always had so much patience with her. I was having horrible, vivid dreams, and the last day I was on it, I had been having suicidal ideations. I'd rather just risk getting pregnant than to risk feeling like that ever again."

Also gave me acne, mood swings, and anxiety. I got switched to this because the pharmacy stopped carrying Monessa."

For Birth Control "I've been taking birth control for a few years now. They had me on Previfem before but switched to Estarylla about a year ago, saying it was the same thing. I take the 0.25 mg. I suffer from manic depression, anxiety, and insomnia, so I never thought anything else was making it worse until just recently. I thought about how the week of green pills that are non-hormonal may be affecting my mood. The past year has been so bad for my mental and physical health due to intense fatigue, mood swings, anxiety over the smallest things, and insomnia, which then reacts to my body being tired and makes me restless. After reading how many reviews have the same pattern as my experience, I'm going to set an appointment with my OBGYN ASAP and hopefully find a better option."

For Ovarian Cysts "Please be careful if you decide to go on this medicine if you’ve previously had a history of stomach problems. I went on this pill to prevent ovarian cysts and to help with severe pain during my period. It’s been a lifesaver in terms of helping me feel less pain, and helped with my acne, and makes me have fewer mood swings, but that’s really all it’s done. This medication has messed my stomach up. I can’t tell when I’m hungry or full, I gag on food, can’t stand the smell of most foods, I have pain after eating, and painful bathroom experiences. If you struggle with mental illness, then beware. I have fewer mood swings, but the catch is that I feel withdrawn from family, friends, and my boyfriend. It also dried out my skin on certain parts of my body. Overall, this medicine is good if you need birth control and aren’t sensitive to medication, but if you have sensitivities, this will not be your pill. Good luck to anybody taking this, hope I helped!"
