For Birth Control "I had to stop taking this after three days. I am prone to depression, but I haven't really had a bad episode since I was in my early twenties-I'm 31 now. I was so deeply depressed and disturbed from taking Estarylla that I threw away the package with the rest of the pills for the month. I was crying, and I had a migraine at work, which is hard to explain to my co-workers and makes me look bad. Also, I felt a weird detached type of feeling, and I actually felt like I wasn't in my body. I've been really sleepy, and I've had vivid dreams too. I've taken many other brands of birth control, and this was the worst experience that I've ever had!"

For Birth Control "This pill is the worst. I've been dealing with postpartum depression, and I was getting better with that. Then started taking this birth control. Everything was fine for about 2 months, then I noticed stuff started setting me off more, and my mood was all over the place! Even right now, I have super high anxiety, depression, thinking irrationally, being angry, and super irritable over the stupidest stuff. I haven't felt like myself for a little while. My guy is starting to say he doesn't like waking next to me because I get set off first thing in the morning with my racing thoughts and feeling cranky as heck, and it lasts all day long. I love waking early, I'm an early bird, but lately, I'm driving myself crazy and everyone else around me insane. I've been a week off this pill and feel little difference, but I do feel things getting a bit better. Be careful with this pill, I do not recommend it at all. As soon as you start noticing your mood, feelings, thought process, or your world is changing, stop taking it ASAP!"

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for 10 months, and it has triggered a deep depression that I have been struggling with for about two months now. CONSTANT mood swings. I am ruining my relationship of two years because of the constant mood swings and dark thoughts. I am not like this at all, I am a very optimistic and happy person, and this BC has really messed with me, triggered deep anxiety, and constant dark thoughts. I am getting off this pill. I am tired of not feeling like myself. Other than that, it gets one star because I did not get pregnant while taking this pill."

"This BC gave me an adrenal deficiency, causing mood swings, breakthrough bleeding, anxiety, depression, inability to fall asleep, inability to wake up in the morning, and severe fatigue. I have been on this for almost two months now, and prior to use, I went to the gym every day, had lots of energy, and no anxiety. After this pill pack, I’m switching to the mini pill to estrogen detox."

For Birth Control "I started taking Estarylla in November 2018, and at first, hated the brand. I had skin rashes, migraines, and felt depressed to a point where I had no motivation to do anything. Unfortunately, my skin broke out worse than it ever has due to this birth control. The headaches lasted for only a couple of weeks, but I still felt emotional until recently. I was planning on getting off of the birth control because of how bad I felt, but am glad I pushed through. On the plus side, my breasts grew quickly after taking the pill, and I’ve been fully protected without other contraceptives. I’m towards the end of my third month taking Estarylla, and there are no more side effects, and I am feeling like myself again. Everyone reacts differently to this brand, but it’s not the worst out there."

For Birth Control "I have been on Sprintec for five years and was sent Estarylla by my mail-order pharmacy because it is technically the same. But it's not the same. This drug sent me into the worst depression I have ever experienced and nearly ruined my relationship. Holy moly. For the four months I was taking this pill, I had NO sex drive -- I didn't even want to be touched. I was so depressed, negative, irritable, and would cry over the smallest things. I told my pharmacy to only send me Sprintec, they agreed. Now that I've been back on Sprintec for a month and a half, I feel back to my normal self. My sex drive has returned, I feel so much more positive and happier. My doctor said that inactive ingredients in pills can cause these kinds of side effects, even if it is technically the 'same' drug. I also really believe that every drug affects everyone differently, and I usually don't buy into reviews online, but most of these reviews match my experience to a T. I will never take this drug again."

For Birth Control "Awful. Horrid. Looks like I've had a similar experience to many others here. I was formerly on Mononessa, it has worked great for me for years, but it was no longer carried at my pharmacy or any other local pharmacy. My doc/pharmacy switched me to Estarylla, as it was 'generic' for Mononessa. I was on it for about two weeks and became severely depressed. It made me sick to my stomach with nausea, and I was an emotional wreck. As soon as I got off of it, I felt instantly better. I am now on Trinessa, for those who are trying to find a similar alternative to Mononessa. It's only been about a week, but much better than Estarylla."

For Birth Control "It has been an okay pill for me so far, but reading these reviews makes me wonder. I have been depressed, strong anxiety, and random cries while taking this pill, but I thought it may have been postpartum depression. I also have random feelings of nausea and have thrown up for no reason at least three times with this pill in the five, almost six months."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've been on this pill for a month. This is my first birth control, so I don't have much experience. But let me just say, I have cried almost every day since starting, I've been moody and depressed for the past 4 weeks, I get extreme headaches, and I've been on my period now for nearly 2 weeks, so I'm not even having sex anymore. I'm stopping this pill, it's ruining my quality of life, and I cannot stand the side effects. And I'm out of town, so I need to wait another week before seeing my doctor. Please stay away from this pill, find something different, it's not worth it."

For Birth Control "If I could give this birth control a negative 20, I would. I normally am prescribed Mononessa, but my pharmacy doesn’t sell it, and I normally get it by mail order for 2 months at a time. I decided to give this medication a try for three months, and Estarylla caused me to have severe anxiety and depression. I slowly stopped going to class as often, and I cried myself to sleep, felt like I wasn’t wanted, the whole 9 yards. It was awful. I returned to my normal prescription via mail order (Mononessa), and my symptoms have completely gone away. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICATION. You won’t be able to recognize yourself. They need to take this off the shelves."

For Birth Control "If I could give this pill 0 stars, I would. As most people, I started with Mononessa. I took Mononessa for about 3 years until one day Walgreens switched me to Sprintec. Then, a month later, they switched me to Estarylla. I haven't been the same ever since. I've been on it for a good two months, hoping the side effects would disappear. They didn't. For these past two months, I have been unbelievably depressed. I have also been spotting every day. I get itchy spots all over my skin, and at first I thought it was some kind of bug bite, until I read these reviews. I also use birth control pills for acne. When I was on Mononessa, my face was so clear. When I started taking Estarylla, I started getting breakouts which turned into terrible acne. At least I'm not pregnant though... right? All of that just to not have a kid? Count me out. I am calling my doctor ASAP to see if they can switch me to a different pharmacy. I do NOT recommend this pill to ANYONE."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed Sprintec 5 years ago because I suffer from such horrible cramps and bleeding during my period. Sprintec helped me drop weight more quickly, cleared the constant cystic acne I had suffered from for 10 years, and cured my cramping and heavy bleeding. After 2 years, my pharmacy started giving me Estarylla. I gained weight and fell into a depression. My skin also became cystic again. These issues cleared when they gave me Sprintec. On and off the last 5 years, my pharmacy (insurance company) has been switching me between 3 brands of this drug. When I'm on Estarylla, I'm a mess. I gain weight, my skin has cystic acne, I have depression and anxiety to the point of medication, I have depressed thoughts, I have 0 sex drive, I stop caring about life, and it takes effort to wake up and leave my house in the morning. I talked to my doctor, he wrote me a new prescription with the instructions I'm only to have Sprintec and no other brand, so that I don't have to suffer through Estarylla."

For Birth Control "This is the first time I'm taking birth control, my doctor prescribed me Estarylla. It did help in making my periods more regular and lighter, but the cramps are just as bad. Not only that, but I've been extremely depressed, anxious, and paranoid, and that's started to ruin my relationship with my s/o. I couldn't even finish the rest of the pills in the pack because I was feeling so awful. Definitely would not recommend this pill."

For Birth Control "Worst birth control ever. I’m never one to write reviews, but this birth control is ruining my life! I was switched over to this generic version, and I’ve been on it for 2 months... worst 2 months. I’m so moody, depressed, anxiety-ridden, no confidence, so tired, and no sex drive. Do yourself a favor and never take this."

For Birth Control "Initially, I thought this pill was great, as I actually saw a reduction in my appetite (binge eating), and my skin seemed more clear. Within just about a month, everything changed. My nose and forehead began breaking out with blemishes, and I began experiencing irritability, anxiety, and severe depression. I am tearful, crying multiple times per week, severe loss of energy, unstable mood, loss of pleasure in doing things, very little motivation, experiencing sleep difficulties (trouble falling asleep, restlessness, and early awakening), reduced sex drive, easily annoyed, suicidal thoughts. Before starting Estarylla, I had never experienced depression before or had a depressive episode. It has been nearly 3 months, and my symptoms appear to be increasing in severity instead of even looking like they'll improve. It has been destroying my relationship and destroying me. I was a happy person who wasn't anxious, wanting to hide away and isolate, and full of guilt before taking this medication."

For Birth Control "Actually, the worst pill ever. I’m stopping this pill tomorrow. I already have really bad anxiety, and this just made it so much worse. I’ve been so mean to my boyfriend and have had HORRIBLE mood swings. I have been so anxious to the point where I just cry, and I even shake sometimes, which never has happened. My appetite has gone down, and I just don’t want to eat. My skin has dried out, and I just feel so down literally every second of the day. I love working out, and this pill has made me so unmotivated to the point where I just question everything. Please just don’t take this and talk to your doctor about other options. This isn’t worth it, and destroying your mental health is most definitely not worth it for this pill."

For Birth Control "After being almost 2 weeks on it, I had to stop taking it, it made my depression worse as well as my anxiety. It made me super sensitive (which I'm normally not). I do get anxiety attacks, but never like this, it was almost every day, not to mention I broke out in horrible acne, which I've never had."

For Birth Control "This is my second month on this pill, about to be on my third. I've been on a different birth control before this one for two years. I don't remember the name, but I was super moody. I had bad depression every night. I would cry for no reason, it was so bad. So, they put me on a low hormone, and it was this pill. And so far, I haven't been moody at all. Just one time, I got all my emotions in one night and cried for two hours. But other than that, I've been okay. I have gained weight, but most birth controls do that. But my only problem would be that I get really bad cramping stomachaches about every day. Like after I eat or before I eat. And it's just a terrible pain. But I like this pill 10 times better than my last."

For Birth Control "So this was the second birth control pill I've tried, and I LOVE IT! The first one I was on made me depressed, gain weight, and have a period for a MONTH. After changing to Estarylla, I have had no problems at all. My cystic acne went away, I haven’t gained weight, and I do not cramp. This pill does still make you have a period, but mine is much shorter than it was before. I don’t want to use any other pill!!"

For Birth Control "I was switched to it after Sprintec was discontinued. It is one of the generics, so it's supposed to be the same strength. Estarylla is awful! My periods are heavier and longer, and then I get 2-3 days of just 'lining chunks.' So gross. I also think the hormones are not a good mix for me. I am always bloated and nauseous, yet having crazy cravings. Worst of all, I get depressed and am just so down the first two days of my cycle, and I know I am not either of those things normally."

For Endometriosis "I started Estarylla to regulate abnormal bleeding from endometriosis and PCOS, but it didn't help at all. Just after the first month, I was hospitalized because I started losing so much blood I couldn't stand up without passing out. And the pain was awful-it shot down my legs and up my back and neck like electric waves. That period didn't stop for nine weeks, and I was in severe pain the whole time. Almost worse was the depression and panic attacks. I have a history with these struggles, but it got so bad on this medication that I wouldn't sleep for days. It's been so tough to try to figure out what's going on at the same time as I'm trying to find the motivation to do regular life things."
