For Birth Control "I was on Estarylla for 1 day, and it gave me chest heaviness to the point where I felt I couldn't breathe for several days. I was sent to the ER, and they said I was completely healthy. It made me very depressed, but the worst part was feeling like I was literally suffocating, but doctors telling me I was fine. Anxiety was through the roof, and every moment was just torment and crying. I do not suggest taking Estarylla!!!"

"Oh my goodness, this pill is horrible. It’s a drug. A horrible one. I have been taking it for 1 month and 5 days. I feel so depressed, and my anxiety is off the hook. All day, I feel anxiety. I thought I was going crazy until I decided to look into this pill because I couldn’t figure out why I was feeling so blue and not myself. Look into your birth control pill and do your research, girls. We trust our doctors with whatever they prescribe that we just go with the flow. You know your body best. If you start feeling weird and not yourself, stop taking it."

For Birth Control "I went from my regular Ortho Tri-Cyclen lo to this version. It is by far one of the worst pills. While it did prevent pregnancy, I have been very moody, I could get angry or cry over the smallest things. This pill has had me depressed. My blood pressure is also unusually high, on top of that, I've broken out on my face. This pill has me feeling unlike myself, I've never had problems until I started this pill. Never again!"

For Birth Control "I get birth control sent to me through the mail, 3 packs at a time. Now every 3 months, they usually switch the brand, and this time I got Estarylla. At first, I thought the package it came in was pretty cool, but this was by far the worst birth control I've ever gotten. After a short time using this, I got depressed and felt like a whole different person. I haven't been as lively as I normally am. This also kills your sex drive! I haven't been able to feel anything sexually at all since taking this. I guess that's how it works as birth control. After realizing this, they sent me another 3 months of the brand! I'm so frustrated."

For Birth Control "Like everyone else, I was switched by my pharmacy from Monessa to this. I’m on the 3rd week, and in this time, I have developed a cyst in my ovary, then started my period while on the active pills with the most constant, horrible cramps. I have had absolutely no energy and have felt so depressed to where I start crying for no reason. For the life of me, I could not figure out what was wrong until this morning I decided to look up this pill (I figured it would be the same since it was another generic brand, so I didn’t give it much thought). Most everyone with negative reviews matches my experience to a T. I am relieved to know I’m not alone, but will not be continuing this pill. Horrible experience."

For Birth Control "I have been on 3 different birth control pills in the past with 0 side effects from any of them. I trusted CVS when they switched my brand again to this one and didn't look up any reviews until now. After taking it for almost 2 weeks, I have been extremely emotional and depressed. I've never had issues with depression before, but this pill made me an emotional wreck. Every moment has been spent fighting back tears. I've also never had problems with my skin (maybe 1 pimple every month), and I now have 4 pimples on my face and some on my body and back. This birth control is the worst pill I have ever taken. Every person is obviously different in how they react, but it's not worth the risk!!"

For Birth Control "Everyone is different, and I’m glad this works well for some. These side effects are rough for me. This is my third month on Estarylla after being switched from Sprintec, like many others. I got behind in school because of the anxiety and depression, which I didn’t attribute to the pill because I am predisposed to those conditions without it. I was more irritable and wanted to isolate. I couldn’t motivate myself to be a person that actively participates in life. Also, it prevented pregnancy but also sex. Vaginal dryness in my late 20s is a mood killer for him and me. He feels he is doing something wrong, and I feel bad that no matter how horny I am, my body won’t respond. It cost me money in lube, and it was hard to get into sex after that. That wasn’t the worst part, though. The first week of these pills made me nauseous. I was so ill. This is the third month trying to adjust my body before I called it quits. I have lost 10 lbs in 48 hours because of the excessive diarrhea."

For Birth Control "I had been wondering what was going on when I started vomiting and being nauseous when I started this pill last month. I thought it was something else. But now I have had extreme depression and moodiness and constant migraines, and I came here to see that it’s likely this pill. I didn’t get pregnant, so that’s a win, but I am miserable all the time, so I am taking myself off this ASAP."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "At first, this medicine worked, but then I began experiencing severe migraines, and so my doctor modified the pills to best suit me. Which worked out better for about 2 months. Now I've back to having severe cramps, migraines, heavy bleeding, depression, and anxiety. I wouldn't recommend this medication."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for less than a month. I'm at the end of the 3rd active week, and this whole week, I've been spotting and cramping and some discharge that I never had problems with before. I was on Mononessa for almost 2 years previously, my pharmacy changed it without my consent. They told me it was the same, but it's not. While on it the first week, I got super depressed and was moody, and it's gotten worse now that it's the third week. I'm constantly annoyed and more moody than usual. I do take another script for PMDD that usually keeps my moods in line. But this birth control has screwed up my balance all around. I can't wait to get back on Mononessa for next month. I wouldn't recommend this to any female who is overly sensitive and emotional."

For Birth Control "I thought I was losing my mind, but per these reviews, I think my suspicions are founded. I've been on Estarylla for about 6 months as my pharmacy replaced this with the Sprintec I've been taking for about 6 years now. Never any issues with Sprintec, it was by far my favorite BC. This BC is the worst I've ever had. I've had months with breakthrough bleeding (like 3 weeks of bleeding vs. at most 1...), I've put on about 10 lbs, I have no desire to do anything but eat and not work out (not like myself at all) and no libido. I called my OB/GYN, and she immediately suspected the BC. I will be switching back to Sprintec per her 'dispense as written' on my prescription. Ladies, heed the warnings of the others and myself, do not take this pill..."

For Birth Control "I have been on Estarylla birth control since January when my doctor switched me to a less hormone pill due to some issues I was having with my previous birth control. I have been experiencing headaches, fatigue, weight gain, and depression. Then on Feb 26, 2019, I found out I was pregnant - yes, I got pregnant on Estarylla. I do not like this pill and the way it made me feel. I am usually pretty happy, and this pill has changed me in multiple ways."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am a 40-something woman and started this med to control bleeding. It made me nauseous for the first week, then I was fine. My poor husband. Between the 15-pound weight gain and the mood swings, I have been quite unhappy! I agree with the other statements that it makes you very depressed. I struggle with depression, and this made it a lot worse. I would rather go back to bleeding every two weeks than deal with this crap! Starting on something different next week. Thank you to everyone who also replied. I don't feel like it is just me. It is definitely the medicine! So long, Estarylla!!"

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for about a year and a half now. I was originally on Mononessa but was switched to this generic one out of nowhere. I had suffered from anxiety and depression before, but I had removed myself from the situations that made me tick. I was completely fine for months on Mononessa. Happier, healthier, and in a way better position. I started taking Estarylla and everything came back. I never used to cry, but now sometimes I cry up to 3 times a day! This pill completely reverted any progress I had made, and it makes me extremely irritable. Originally, I thought it was just me, but after some research, my boyfriend and I found out it was this pill, so I’m switching ASAP. Not only is it emotionally unhealthy, but it also caused me to get terrible breakouts a week before my period until a week after. It is not worth it to go on this for clear skin! Do not do it!"

For Birth Control "I was on Sprintec for about 9 months before I was switched to Estarylla, and I noticed the change almost immediately. I developed anxiety, lost my ability to concentrate, have frequent mood swings, go in and out of depressive episodes, and my mental state near my period is so overwhelmed that I feel like I'm a different person. My friends and family have noticed the change to a point where they think I don't seem like myself anymore. On Sprintec, my whole face was clear, and my skin glowed. On Estarylla, my skin glows (with oil), and I get hormonal breakouts on my chin that I never had with Sprintec. I know Estarylla is the 'chemical equivalent,' but there must be a difference in the two because Estarylla has deteriorated my mental health in a way no birth control ever has before. Everybody is different, and for some people, Estarylla may be great! But if you are on Sprintec and love it, if your pharmacist or doctor gives you Estarylla instead, DO NOT TAKE IT."

For Birth Control "Never in my life have I been depressed or had anxiety or any type of mental health problems until I started this pill. It didn’t happen right away, but it slowly crept up on me, and I always had mood swings, and I would cry over the smallest things. I felt very unmotivated and just like I was always sad. I knew that the way I was feeling had to be because of this pill since I had never felt like this in my entire life. Honestly, it’s not worth it at all, I do not recommend this pill for anyone. Please prioritize your mental health!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Estarylla for about 3-4 months. I have tried to give my body time to adjust to this pill, but I really am not a fan. I have horrible mood swings, worsening anxiety and depression, spotting, cramps, bloating, and nausea after taking the pill - sometimes to the point where I throw up. The only 'pro' is that I'm not pregnant. Can't wait to get off this medication."

For Birth Control "Originally I was on the Junel birth control pill, but I was bleeding for over 6 weeks, so they switched me to the Estarylla pill, and boy was I in a dark place. Not only that, but I’m pregnant now - 3 months. So I don’t recommend it. I was always tired, sad, irritated, just overall not in a good place. But now that I’m pregnant and off the pill, I feel much better, minus the morning sickness."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I had excessive bleeding that wouldn’t stop for months. I was going through tampons and pads every hour. It was horrible! I finally got insurance, and my doctor started me on progesterone-only pills. I was 50 at the time. They worked well... until they didn’t anymore. I started bleeding excessively again. I went to a new gynecologist and was put on Estarylla. It worked for me to control the bleeding, but I experienced worsening depression (crying all the time, lack of energy, and dark mood swings). I was on antidepressants, but they seemed to stop working. I also experienced massive hair loss... and found out many people were experiencing this as well. My doctor didn’t renew my prescription, and I just stopped taking it. Suddenly, I felt better! No extreme depression and no more hair loss! I’m feeling better. From what I experienced, I wouldn’t recommend. Best wishes to all who are going through this. I pray we have more research on this problem for women of all ages."

For Birth Control "First week, I wanted to quit right then, but I gave it time. I literally must've become someone else, with only glimpses of me throughout the whole 6 months I took this. I am a really happy, energetic, outgoing person. All of that changed. My boyfriend of 3 years started noticing changes in my mood and behaviors. The smallest thing would make me so aggravated, which could slip into a fit of rage. I had less and less of a sex drive. You don't feel like you're different. It would only be after the fact that I saw how dramatic I was being, but then it became like a depression that I WASN'T EVEN AWARE OF! I also got a digestive issue during my time on this pill. I was losing my mind, sad, angry, frustrated all the time. Numb a bit to emotions, but would cry at small stuff. I felt like I was falling apart. My face didn't clear up much, and that was the ONLY REAL REASON I WAS TAKING THIS stuff. I know my body is happy about not taking this pill anymore. My whole body is taking a sigh of relief. DON'T INGEST THIS POISON."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have only been on this birth control for about 3 to 4 months. Prior to starting this, I had at least 2 weeks out of each month feeling sick, crying, severe depression, cramps that would keep me up all night, headaches, no energy-you name it. Since I've been on the pill, most of my symptoms have lightened up, and my PMS starts a few days before my period, not a week or more ahead. I will say this month I have been more emotional, but this is the first time I've noticed my flow being lighter. At my last check-up, I was told my symptoms would improve more the longer I've been on it, so fingers crossed it continues to get better each month!"

For Birth Control "Read all these negative reviews and still tried it because I have horrible periods. DON'T BE LIKE ME, DON'T DO IT. If you must take this pill, at least quit after a month or sooner if you are feeling bad. I stuck it out for 2.5 months like an idiot because I was trying for the 3-month mark. Everyone in my life was worried. This pill made me extremely depressed, anxious to the point that I spent those two months doing nothing. Constant migraines. Horrible nausea, which is not something I've experienced ever before in my life. Even now, going off of it, I'm still nauseous just from how much it messed me up. I was so emotional, and it was clearly hormonal. That feeling you get when you are on your period and you cry at a commercial but ALL THE TIME. Month of spotting then heavy bleeding on my period. This pill robbed me of 3 months of my life that I'll never get back, and I could have easily lost even more. Be careful. (took Lutera before and never had such severe side effects, I'm in my mid-20s)"

For Endometriosis "I started Estarylla to regulate abnormal bleeding from endometriosis and PCOS, but it didn't help at all. Just after the first month, I was hospitalized because I started losing so much blood I couldn't stand up without passing out. And the pain was awful-it shot down my legs and up my back and neck like electric waves. That period didn't stop for nine weeks, and I was in severe pain the whole time. Almost worse was the depression and panic attacks. I have a history with these struggles, but it got so bad on this medication that I wouldn't sleep for days. It's been so tough to try to figure out what's going on at the same time as I'm trying to find the motivation to do regular life things."
