For Birth Control "I was switched from MonoNessa to another one of the generics, Estarylla, because my pharmacy wasn't carrying MonoNessa anymore. This was in November of last year (2018). I was on Estarylla for a little less than 2 months (had to stop before a full two months because of the adverse effects). I was experiencing the worst acne I have ever had in my life, and I am finally now almost back to how I was before. I was depressed continuously (I don't have depressive tendencies), I would have outbreaks of anger and sadness (also not like me). Through this forum, I found that many people were feeling the way I was feeling and that it wasn't in my head. Since I have been off Estarylla, my face has cleared, I don't have as many headaches, and my mood has stabilized. The difference in my mood took about 5-10 days, and the process with my acne has taken a lot longer and is still going. I can't describe in completeness how I felt on this medication because it was so terrible."

For Birth Control "This is my first experience with birth control, and I am 18 years old. The 1st week was fine, but the beginning of the 2nd week was horrible. I cried like I have never cried before. It is a horrible pill for me, and I would not recommend it. I ignored all the reviews before taking the first pill, and I was wrong to do that. This messes with all of your emotions and causes depression and anxiety."

For Birth Control "This has been awful. I had to switch from Mononessa to Estarylla. Before this, Mononessa was perfect, and before that, I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. These past 4 months have been terrible. I cry every day, and it’s affecting my relationships with the people I love. I am spotting every day, even when I’m not on my period. I have no enjoyment in the things I used to enjoy, and I have 0 energy. This is absolutely horrible, and I’m definitely switching this week because I cannot take this anymore."

For Birth Control "My PP thought I needed a higher dose of estrogen in my pill, so I was switched to this pill. I’ve been totally not myself recently. I have given this pill the suggested amount of time and I feel as though it’s getting worse. I’m EXTRA moody, unhappy, extremely irritable, zero patience, nauseous a lot of the time on top of already having acid reflux, anxious. About 10 days before my period, these symptoms flare tremendously. It affects my career and my relationships. It’s almost scary. I’m looking to get off of this pill ASAP. So not worth it!"

For Birth Control "I have been on this medication for 3 days, and I have never felt this low in my life. I have felt depressed, anxious, and hopeless all in three days. I want to switch immediately. I was on Sprintec, and it was perfect for me. My doctor made me switch to this, and I am going to go back and switch back off of it."

For Birth Control "Please, please do not take this. This specific birth control pill put me in the worst depressive state. I didn’t even recognize myself or my feelings. They were so dark and scary. I was also nauseous every night, I would wake up multiple times a night and was always tired at work. I would also cry every day out of the blue. I would also have panic attacks. My poor boyfriend, family, and roommates had to go through this horrible time with me. The morning after I stopped taking it, I felt a drastic change, I felt like myself again. I’m scarred from this, will never trust a pill again."

For Birth Control "I do not recommend this birth control to anyone. Immediately after starting this medication, I felt a complete shift in my emotions, and I was constantly finding myself lashing out at my boyfriend and getting mad at every little thing, which is nothing like myself. I had little to no acne before starting this pill, and it caused me to start breaking out with cystic acne all around my mouth and chin. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because I didn't get pregnant the 7 months I've been on it. Other than that, this pill is awful. My doc said to wait 6 months for the pill to completely balance out, but I can't stand it anymore, cause it's only getting worse. My depression and anxiety are at an all-time high, and my relationship is now suffering."

For Birth Control "I was previously on Microgestin and was having light spotting off my period, so I switched to Estarylla. It was the beginning of my freshman year, first semester, so I thought I was just stressed, but by the third week of taking this pill, I realized it caused me to become extremely depressed. I was unable to do anything and did not leave my dorm ever. I couldn’t eat (lost 5 pounds) and always had low self-esteem. I stopped taking it and ended up starting a new pill a month later and am having similar side effects. I only stopped taking Estarylla about a month ago but can’t describe the mental and emotional pain I was going through. I do not recommend this pill at all, I wish I never took it because it severely affected me this first semester of school, and I’m hoping I go back to normal soon."

For Birth Control "I have been suffering from terrible mood swings, anxiety, and depression for a few months now and couldn’t figure out for the life of me what was wrong. It came on very suddenly. I am incredibly paranoid, anxious, irritable, sad most of the time, and just feel empty and not like myself at all! After reading these reviews, I now know why. Additionally, I had near-perfect skin before I started this BC, now I experience painful cystic acne and have nasty breakouts all over my face. My hair falls out in clumps. And I still get bad cramping before my period, which I thought this was supposed to help with. Getting rid of this immediately and trying something different. Only giving a 2 because I didn’t get pregnant, but my sex drive went down to below zero on this pill, so I guess that isn’t saying much anyways!!!!"

For Birth Control "Same experience as everyone else: I was on Sprintec and then Mononessa and felt no side effects from either of those. Without warning, my pharmacy switched me to Estarylla, and on the very first day of taking it, I noticed extreme side effects. It’s only been three days now, but I suddenly have no energy, am incredibly moody, feel very depressed, and have no interest in talking to my boyfriend. Everything that made me happy the day before I started taking this medication suddenly no longer makes me happy. Even in just three days, I feel exhausted and like I’ve lost all interest in life. After reading these reviews and seeing all the similar experiences, I’ll be calling my pharmacy first thing in the morning to get off Estarylla! The only good part about this pill is that I have zero desire to have sex (or even be around any other humans), so there’s no chance I could get pregnant!"

For Birth Control "I loved this pill for the first 3 months. It cleared up my skin, made my periods much lighter and pain-free, and kept me protected. The only major problem I had was that after the 3rd month until my 5th month taking it, I fell more and more into depression. It was horrible. My extreme mood swings were ruining my life and ruining my relationship. I had to finally stop this pill and switch to something else before my condition became so bad that I was going to start being on antidepressants."

For Birth Control "I have been on Sprintec for many years. The mail pharmacy decided to change to Estarylla without asking my permission. When I received the Estarylla, I called my doctor to see if it was the same as Sprintec. The doctor said it's the same, just a different name. I have taken the Estarylla for only 5 days. I am currently on antidepressants and was doing great, no problems. Estarylla has made my depression come back and also started anxiety. I wake up with anxiety. I also feel very blue-sad. I cannot handle this. Going back to Sprintec ASAP. Do not take this medicine if you have other options."

For Birth Control "I was given a different brand, which I took for 6 months. Then I was given another brand, Estarylla. It has had a negative effect. My acne keeps getting worse every month while I’m on Estarylla. These pills made me depressed, gained weight. I am switching back to Femynor, which cleared my acne and didn’t give me nausea."

For Birth Control "I've been on Estarylla for maybe half a year and didn't develop any side effects right away, but slowly I started noticing that I was sad a lot more over nothing! I gained some weight, became very anxious, and my sex drive also vanished. Everything in my life is great, but the only thing I could think of was these pills had caused it because it didn't happen right away, but slowly progressed as the months went by. I recently stopped taking it in hopes I can go back to myself while the pill fades from my system. I'm not sure exactly if it was indeed the pill, but I was informed this pill does cause those types of side effects, ladies, so be careful. Hope this helps."

For Birth Control "I was on Sprintec for 4 years, but my pharmacy switched me over to Estarylla, and I decided to give it a try. I was on this pill for 6 months and was moody, depressed, and I gained weight. I do get moody when I am on my period with Sprintec, but this was entirely different. My emotions felt like a roller coaster, and when my period came, it would be a very difficult week for me mentally. I personally do not recommend this pill."

For Birth Control "I was on Mononessa for years (after a bad reaction to Sprintec), then Walgreens switched to Estarylla. I was nervous to start this new pack after reading these reviews, and I have experienced some bad side effects since taking it. I’ve had a constant headache for 10 days straight, and I’ve never experienced that before. I never get migraines, and I drink too much water for it to be dehydration. I also have no interest in anything I used to, and I have zero energy. Most of my days now are spent sleeping or laying in my bed. Since starting week two, I’ve started noticing some mood swings, like getting angry and crying for no reason. I am not myself on this pill, and if nothing has changed for the better as soon as the month is up, I’m done because I can’t take this anymore. The only good thing was that it seems like I’ve lost a little weight, and my breasts aren’t as huge as they were on Mononessa. I take the pill for irregular periods, and so far, it's done its job."

For Birth Control "I've been on multiple different birth controls since 2018, and this has been the worst one yet. Unfortunately, this worsened my anxiety and depression to the point where I was having anxiety attacks on a weekly basis after going two years without them. Not only this, but I have been experiencing consistent migraines for the first time in my life. I gained a bit of weight, my skin isn't as clear as it was, and overall has been messing with my body. I wish I didn't have bad things to say, but this has been an unfortunate circumstance that I'm glad to have figured out."

For Birth Control "I have tried other birth control pill types in the past with no real issues, but I had my tubes removed in 2017, so I stopped all birth control. My mood fluctuations center around my cycle, which is normal, but my symptoms are severe. My doctor started me on this one for that. I haven't even made it 2 weeks, and I will be stopping it. The symptoms I experienced: extreme anxiety and depression, nightly panic attacks-even waking me up from sleep, itching of face, neck, chest, and arms, awful nausea and stomach/back cramps, and a crawling under my skin sensation in my legs and sometimes chest that made it impossible to get more than a couple of hours of sleep every night. I wish I had done more research into this pill. I'm glad not everyone has this experience, but I wish the possible side effects were more clearly communicated by the medical community."

For Birth Control "I’ve started with Monessa. It caused me to spot for a month straight, so it was like I had a period for a whole month. This also delayed my intimate time with my boyfriend, which was super annoying and defeated the purpose of birth control. So after that horrible month, I ended up somehow getting switched to Estarylla. I’ve been on this birth control for about 3 months now. With this birth control, there are a few side effects, which included weight gain, a little acne here and there, nausea, moments of depression and crying spells, increased sex drive, a few seconds of blurred vision, increased appetite, and tenderness of breasts. Some people were saying that their hair falls out on this, it’s NEVER happened to me. I rate this birth control an 8. I have regular periods around the same time every month that only last for about 4 days, and my cycles are light. ZERO SPOTTING. Plus, I haven’t gotten pregnant yet, so that’s always a bonus for me! I’m beyond fine with my side effects."

For Birth Control "I began taking this after switching from Nurx, which was sending me Sprintec, to The Pill Club, which started sending me Estarylla, saying it was equivalent to Sprintec. I have personally never had any issues with Sprintec, but Estarylla slowly started making me really depressed and overly emotional, angry, and completely drained me of my sex drive. It didn't start happening until months later of taking it, so I didn't realize right away that it was the pill. I definitely do not recommend this brand."

For Birth Control "DO NOT EVER EVER EVER TAKE THIS!!! I started Estarylla in September and was on it for 6 months. By March, I was getting crazy panic attacks every day. (I had anxiety and depression before this, but it was mild and manageable). When I was on this pill, it made my depression unimaginable. I lost interest in all things, felt completely numb, having suicidal thoughts. I got off of the pill a month ago, and my anxiety has gotten a lot better (haven’t had a panic attack in 3 weeks), but the depression is still the same as it was on the pill, but is getting a little better every day, and I’m starting antidepressants to help ease it. I’m hoping within another couple months my hormones will readjust. But I would HIGHLY suggest you never take this if you’re prone to mental health issues!"
