For Birth Control "I took Loestrin 24 Fe for five years and loved it! I had no weight gain, hardly any acne or mood swings, and absolutely no cramping. I started taking birth control because I was missing school due to cramps, so this was a significant benefit for me. The two problems are that I frequently missed periods, and that it was extremely expensive due to the absence of a generic."

"I have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for almost 2 complete months. I'm fairly impressed. No weight gain, no mood swings, no breakouts; it is actually helping my skin, thank goodness! Very few cramps, breasts slightly fuller; but not sore or tender, slight increased appetite, and super light and short periods. My only concern is breakthrough bleeding was terrible the first month and a little in the early second month. But it's stopped for now, and I hope it doesn't come back! I would recommend it to anyone!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I do not recommend this pill. After being off birth control for 7 years, I wanted to go back on. My doctor prescribed it to me, saying 'most' people don't get their periods or many side effects at all. After one week of taking the first blue pills, the bleeding started. Not to mention the unbearable cramps and back pain. The mood swings, crying for no reason. Day 4 of bleeding today, and not only is it still there, but it has gotten even worse. I gave it a few days, but after this morning, I am NOT taking this pill anymore, and I don't even know if I'll go back on another after this horrible experience. Luckily, my insurance covered most of this, but STILL. Stopping halfway through the pack. DO NOT GO ON THIS PILL!"

For Birth Control "I have been on Loestrin 24 for about 2 years now. In the beginning, I had a lot of mood swings and would cry a lot, but that's normal for the first couple of months while your body is getting used to the hormones. After that, I was fine, felt great! My period used to be really painful, and I'd bleed heavily for at least 5 days, and it went down to 2 days, really light. I did experience slight weight gain, but nothing serious."

"I was on Yaz for two years, and I had no problem with it, but my mom and gyno, who don't even know me, decided it caused mood changes for me and changed me to Loestrin 24 Fe. I've been taking it for two weeks, and it's horrible. I'm having cramps randomly throughout the month and light bleeding that is completely random, and I've been taking the pill every day at the same time. Before I started, I had completely finished my period. This is horrible, and I have noticed my acne getting a little worse, but I never connected it to the birth control until now. I need to go back to Yaz. I guess maybe if Yaz doesn't work for you, then this will."

For Acne "I have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for only a month. I didn't have painful periods until I got off of birth control. I was on Depo (the shot every 3 months), and I did not have a period, but I did gain almost 15-20 pounds. I was on Depo for 3 years, and then I decided to get off, and I wanted to have a normal period. That's when everything went downhill. I would be in so much pain that I would call out of work, miss classes, and the pain caused me to be depressed. After ultrasounds, x-rays, no sex (too painful), they found nothing wrong. The doctors gave me Yaz, and that made me feel worse. It did control my mood swings, but not the pain. Loestrin 24 Fe has been great so far."

"I have been on Loestrin 24 for about 5 and a half months. For the first 2 months, it was horrible. I was bleeding consistently for like 20 days in a row, and the bleeding would only stop for a few days every couple of weeks. I was extremely moody and angry, and I did gain a little bit of weight. Also, my acne went away slightly, but nothing dramatic. On about the 3rd month on the pill, my period FINALLY started getting normal. The breakthrough bleeding stopped, and my period is now very, very light and not painful. I get breakouts and breast tenderness the week before my period, but it's not bad at all. My advice to those who just started: WAIT IT OUT. It's incredibly frustrating, but it takes a little bit of time for your body to adjust!"

For Birth Control "This has been a bad experience for me. I’m 28, very active, and weigh 108 lbs. I was on the Lomedia 24 Fe for one month, and during that month, I had terrible acne all over my forehead and mood swings - some days, I would wake up in a bad mood. This absolutely murdered my sex drive and my ability to have an orgasm. I did not get my period while on the medication either. I had a pregnancy test done, and it came up negative. I’m hoping to find a birth control that works for me soon."

For Birth Control "This is the worst birth control I have ever used. My breasts ache, it makes me cry uncontrollably, makes me have mood swings, and a buzzing feeling in my girl parts. I have spoken to other friends that have used it, and they continued to take it even after the crazy symptoms. They leveled out in 3 months. Really?! My male OBGYN will not change it, so I stopped taking it, and within 2 weeks feel drastically better. I have since changed doctors because of him not changing the pill. Obviously, there is a kickback involved."

For Birth Control "I wanted to share my opinion of Loestrin after reading the other reviews because I found it so interesting how birth control can so differently affect different people. I switched to Loestrin from Yaz about a year ago and have been much happier. I was put on Yaz to control my mood swings during my period, but it ended up making me experience periods that would last 2 weeks with very heavy bleeding the whole time. I now have very regular, light periods with Loestrin, and it still controls my mood swings. I do notice more breakouts, but nothing ridiculous, just one or two more pimples rather than none. No weight gain, no headaches, no other problems."

For Birth Control "I am 22, and I have been on this pill for about 5 months. I was on Yasmin/Ocella for about 4 1/2 years, and I loved that birth control! But I started to get ovarian cysts, which are common after taking birth control for that amount of time. Since I've been on Loestrin, I have hated life! As of right now, I've been on my period for 3 weeks. I can't seem to lose weight after eating healthy and going to the gym 7 days a week. My mood is horrible. I am about to start Sprintec, although reviews for Sprintec aren't much better than this one. Every birth control reacts differently with every woman."

"I have been taking Loestrin 24 for a year now, and have to say that it is amazing. I'd been through three birth control pills before this one, which all led to serious infections and had little effect on my extreme PMS symptoms. Since starting Loestrin, I have had shorter, lighter, predictable periods. To have one last for more than four days is rare, and I am able to continue my active lifestyle, which was inhibited by unbearable cramps that would keep me in bed for several days before. I have not experienced any weight gain as a side effect of this medication. However, I did, and continue to, notice a change in mood on my 'off' days, which can be best described as generally sad and down."

For Birth Control "For the first month, I had no issues with this pill. The second month, I started bleeding a week and a half before I was supposed to start my period and was emotional 24/7. The third pack I was on, I didn't bleed early, but I was still emotional. The fourth and fifth, which I'm currently on the fifth, I started bleeding a week and a half early again... I also have terrible cramps. I take the pill every morning, I never miss it... Will be switching birth controls after this pack."

For Birth Control "I was on this pill for one month and had nothing but issues. I'm 30 years old and haven't had acne issues for 10 years, but I'm breaking out like crazy since taking this. The worst by far, however, were the extreme mood swings I experienced on this pill. Anxious, moody, angry, and stressed out. It made a notable difference in my current relationship, and I had to call my doctor back to get put back on regular old Ortho-Tricyclen. Just starting it, and I am so relieved I made the choice to switch back."

For Birth Control "If you're currently taking Loestrin and experiencing mood swings/depression, etc., don't think your moodiness will eventually dissipate over time. I've always been a fairly upbeat, positive, rational person. Since taking Loestrin (I'm into my fourth pack = four months), my mood swings have continued to get worse. I cry or tear up at the most random things, for no reason at all. I am anxious and my moods are unpredictable. On a positive note, Loestrin has reduced my period to 1-2 days a month with very light bleeding."

For Birth Control "I'm 18 years old and have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for about a year and a half. I'm taking it only for birth control. At first, everything seemed okay. I had no spotting, no missed periods, and no weight gain. A couple of months in, I noticed a huge decline in sex drive. The mood swings came, and I gained some weight, even though my diet has always been very healthy. And the mood swings were ridiculous! I would cry just about every day for no reason at all and get so mad over little tiny things. I didn't know the moodiness and low sex drive could have to do with the birth control I am on, and after doing research, I realized what it is."

For Birth Control "I am so happy to find these reviews. I originally tried Loestrin 24 a few years ago, and it was great! However, I went back to school and could not afford it anymore. I started using it again a few months ago. I felt tired all of the time and never had any energy. I would always get really bloated, experienced symptoms of pregnancy. My mom was even convinced I was pregnant due to my symptoms, breast tenderness, but I decided to stay on this pill because I now have short periods. I can wear a pantyliner when on my cycle and cramps only the 1st day of my cycle. However, I have been a nut basket, my moods are all over the place. I am always angry, sad, crying for no reason, argumentative. I couldn't figure out why."

For Birth Control "I am 25, 130 lbs and am in good overall health. I have been taking this medication for almost 3 months now, and as of today, I am going off of it. It didn't make me gain weight, but my mood has been horrific. I have no motivation to do anything, I quit going to the gym and am constantly in a bad mood. It also made me break out like crazy. Big, ugly, long-lasting breakouts too. I can't handle it anymore, and neither can my husband. I'm finding something else."

For Birth Control "I started taking this pill five months ago for terrible cramps. The first 3 months were fine. The period was regular, and the cramps were nearly non-existent. My mood has been up and down, and I am always tired. Last month, I bled for over 2 weeks, and this month, I had only a tiny bit of blood. My boyfriend and I use condoms every time just in case, so I'm pretty sure I'm not pregnant. It's very scary not having a period."

For Menstrual Disorders "I LOVE this pill. I'm 18, not sexually active, and I used to have a bit of acne (which the pill cleared up). It's honestly the best thing that has ever happened to me. My periods used to be very, very heavy, and now they're light and I have almost no cramps, whereas I used to have to skip classes because of the pain, and I always felt like puking on the second day. My breasts got a tiny bit bigger, but not really. I haven't had any weight gain or other side effects, except for the fact that I feel awesome and my mood swings went away. Everyone's different, but this pill just happened to be perfect for me. During the first month, I spotted and got discouraged, but overall, I'm so glad I stayed on it. Five stars."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "At first, I was afraid to take this pill because of its side effects, and it was my first time. In order to regulate my long-lasting periods, I'd taken Loestrin. I've been on the pill for a little over a week. And it has stopped my period, but I did get a yeast infection. I'm a tad bit more emotional than usual, but aren't all women that way? Overall, I like it so far."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I just recently was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, and my doctor put me on Loestrin 23 Fe. The first month was fine, just a little tenderness of my breast, but the second month was terrible. I have horrible acne, mood swings all the time, I have terrible cramps, headaches, and I always feel nauseous. I will be going on a new pill as soon as possible."

For Birth Control "I have read a majority of the comments about Loestrin 24 Fe, and they were not good. But I can tell you from my experience, I LOVE IT! I do not get crazy mood swings, nausea, and I did not gain weight. It really helped with my acne. My face is so clear now. I have been on it since August of this year. But so far, so good. I have no complaints. I do have my period, but it is very light. Come next year July, however, I will stop using the pill. Only because I plan on getting married and would really want to have children. I don't want my body to get too used to it. But overall, I love this pill."

For Birth Control "I'm 28 and have been on Loestrin 24 for 6 months, and I'm getting off it. I expected some side effects with birth control, but I can't take this. I get crazy mood swings, I've gained weight, and I've lost my sex drive. Also, I haven't had a period in 6 months, not even spotting. Been on Yaz and Ortho before and can't remember side effects being like this."

"At first, Loestrin 24 Fe seemed like a very good idea, short, light periods are what I was looking for. I was on Loestrin for 4 months without a problem, no mood swings and short, light periods. During the 5th month, I completely stopped having my period for 4 months straight, and when I finally stopped taking the pills, 2 weeks later, I finally had my first period."
