For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for a little over a year. When I first started it, I had my period for a month and a half. It was the worst. Everything was okay for a while. But now I notice I'm bloated all the time to the point where I don't feel like eating. It makes me very emotional too because I cry over anything. But it did make my breasts bigger and it made my acne go away also. It's a good pill for the most part, but it does have its downfalls. And not to mention it's the only birth control pill I've ever taken."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this birth control for a little over a week. So far, I have experienced extreme mood swings over the past few days, slight weight gain, and breast tenderness. These all seem to be similar to other reviews. However, I am going to stick it out for a few months to see if my body gets used to the hormones. I read that it took one woman three months for her body to adapt to this birth control, so I hope I have a similar experience. However, I know that each person responds differently to any kind of drug or hormone. Oh, the joys of being a woman!"

For Birth Control "Loestrin was the first birth control I used. I've had minimal problems with my period before and was using it purely as a contraceptive. Unfortunately, I was quickly disappointed with it. My emotions were all over the map, and it didn't help that I had a period for 12 days straight. This wasn't a nice, light period like I was expecting. It was about twice as heavy as it normally is. My breakthrough bleeding was almost daily as well. I have now switched birth control (to Portia) and am very satisfied. Plus, Loestrin hurts the bank account! There is no generic alternative."

For Birth Control "I have been on Loestrin for about three years now, and all in all, it's not a bad pill. One thing I would have to say, though, that I hate about this pill is the weight gain. In the first six months of this pill, I gained 25 pounds! I was always a skinny girl, so you can imagine how awful it is in six months to go from a size three in pants to a size eleven. After that, I have not gained any weight, though it has been very hard trying to lose the 25 pounds. More things that I've noticed that I haven't liked are mood swings at least a week before my period, tender breasts, and irregular periods. It's been two years for me on this pill, and I will go three months sometimes without having a period. Aside from the rapid weight gain, this pill is okay."

For Birth Control "I took this medicine for about 9 months for perimenopausal symptoms and birth control since I am still fertile in my late 40s. This took about 3 months to acclimate to. Had the mood swings, nausea, and headaches in the first couple of months. Then it worked quite well and actually improved my sleep, which wasn't doing so well pre-birth control. However, the biggest factor making me discontinue use of this drug was a big raise in my blood pressure! I am a non-smoker and a bit overweight but have always had very low blood pressure. After 8-9 months on this, my blood pressure was high. I've been off this for a few weeks, and the top reading on my blood pressure has dropped into the 140s from the 160s I was peaking at. Still, I've always had around 110 or so before taking Loestrin 24."

For Acne "I started using Loestrin as directed by my doctor. First Sunday after getting my period. 2 weeks later, I got my period that lasted about 21 days. I stopped taking the pills, and my period stopped 3 days after. I had terrible mood swings, and now I haven't taken any birth control pill for the last 3 weeks, but my breasts hurt so much that I don't let anyone hug me."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Loestrin for 14 days now. This is my first pill, so I was very concerned with side effects when I started. The first three days weren't too bad except for some light nausea. The fourth night was absolutely terrible, it made me feel like I had the flu, the nausea was so bad. After that night, I've only experienced occasional light to moderate nausea. Mood swings here and there as well. Overall, feeling pretty good. I have not noticed an increase in weight, cup size, or skin quality."

For Birth Control "I love this pill. I've been on Loestrin for about 4 months now, and it's worked fantastically for me. The first couple of weeks or so, I had some significant nausea and bloating. I also had some spotting for the first couple of months, but now everything is fine! My periods only last about 3-4 days, and they're very light, I love it. I also had pretty bad mood swings, but nothing I couldn't sort out. On the plus side, my breasts grew a cup size, and I think my sex drive has actually increased! I would definitely recommend it."

For Birth Control "I am 20 years old, and this is my fourth birth control. I have had problems with ovarian cysts since I was 14, so my doctor put me on birth control to help with the pain and cramping every month. I am going into my second month on Loestrin, and so far I love it. I have been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Yaz, and Necon, and they all made me depressed, with horrible mood swings (always angry at the world), weight gain, and did not help with the acne. I know it's only been a month, but I have experienced mild headaches, breast tenderness, but they have grown, and I love it (I was not blessed with breasts), and mild cramping. My periods in the past lasted 5-7 days, but with this it has lasted only 4. I will definitely give this a shot, seeing as it's my last resort."

For Birth Control "In all honesty, this pill is the answer. I love everything about it. I have been on it for three months now, and I have had no symptoms whatsoever. There has been no weight gain, and it has only slightly changed the size of my breasts. I have had no mood swings or nausea. In the three months I have been on it, I take it every morning at 6, and it works great. The package that it comes in is perfect, it is small, easy to read, and comes with a tiny discrete black cloth pocket to hold the pack in. Perfect to throw in your purse if you are spending the night somewhere else. As well, I have had no period, which was scary in the beginning, but my doctor assured me everything was fine and normal. I HIGHLY recommend this pill."

For Birth Control "I'm 31. Just finished the 3rd month of Loestrin. Severely tender breasts 3 weeks out of the month. Major mood swings and depression during the 3rd week of the month. Headaches got worse over the course of 3 months. Tiny bit of weight gain, no acne, and almost no period, they only last about 2 days. Doctor switched me to LoSeasonique because of the mood swings."

For Birth Control "I've been on the pill for 3 months now, I have experienced extreme nausea, bloating, mood swings, and even crazy cravings! I thought I was pregnant! But after reading these reviews, I feel better about the pill. Not only that, but everything's straightening out, so I'm happy. I am also getting curves, which I like very much! It's a great pill."

For Acne "The first couple of months I was on this, it was perfect. It regulated me as I never really had a regular cycle, maybe 4 times per year. Then I became so emotional, constantly crying and depressed. As prior to taking this, I would have never let anyone see me cry. I had increased anxiety. I also had gone from hardly any periods to 2 periods per pack. I guess it was thought of as me making up for lost time. I never had any trouble with acne, a few breakouts before my cycle but very minimal. No weight gain."

For Birth Control "Since being diagnosed with epilepsy, I was put on pills to prevent seizures, which did not help until I was also put on Loestrin 24 Fe. So far, no seizures. I believe it's related to a hormonal imbalance, and the birth control definitely helps. I have not had any bad symptoms at all. No nausea, no mood swings. I have tried every single birth control I could think of, and this is the only one I like by far. I plan to stay on it for another 6-12 months and try for baby #3."

For Menstrual Disorders "Took this med for one full month and half of another and stopped using it. Headaches daily: pain at the top of my head and down my neck, mood swings, and anxiety like never before. Unable to lose weight. Just didn't like how it made me feel. Period was not as heavy was the only benefit. I'll suffer 4 days of a heavy period to never feel like this again."

For Menstrual Disorders "I'm 16 and just finished my first pack. I'm on it because I've had the worst experience with periods ever since I was 13. Periods lasting 9-16 days, heaviest bleeding I've ever seen, and cramps so bad I wouldn't be able to go to school. Since I started, I noticed a few changes in the first month-my face is more clear, I feel refreshed, and my breasts grew. Not sure if that's normal, but I'm not going to complain. But I've also got some weird experiences too-WILD mood swings, I have spotted once, but that's to be expected for the first few months. I just got to the 1st inactive pill and don't know what to expect. I hope my period lasts for how long most people are saying. Wish me luck."

For Birth Control "I started taking Loestrin 24 Fe because I didn't want any more kids. To my surprise, my periods became nonexistent, and it also cleared my acne. Before starting the pill, my period was normal (3-5 days of flow, and bleeding was normal to light by the last day), and I had mild breakouts, but keep in mind, I have always suffered from these breakouts. Well, after being on the pill for about 2 months, my skin was clear, and I didn't have a period. I stayed on the pill for about 3 years. I did have severe mood swings, and my breast size did increase just a little. I never gained weight, in fact, I actually gained 5 lbs after stopping the pill. I was taken off the pill because I've been having swelling reactions, which my doctor thinks is being caused by the pill."

"I'm 19 years old, and this is the second brand of the pill that I've been on. I took Yaz first, and I had the worst mood swings, and it was extremely expensive. I have had no side effects with Loestrin 24, and it's only $24 a month. My breasts did gain slight weight, but I think that just comes with the pill. Periods are completely normal, as they were irregular before I started taking the pill. Would recommend this pill to anyone."

For Birth Control "I have been on Loestrin for 4 months now. I will admit the first month was kind of rough with the mood swings and headaches, but once my body got adjusted, it was perfectly fine. Like other women on here, I had horrible periods with PMS. Now I barely even notice cramping. It did add a lot to my bust, though, which I am not complaining about at all. I haven't noticed any other weight gain at all. All in all, after the adjustment period, I had no issues at all and also convinced a friend to switch as well, and she loves it."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Loestrin 24 for almost a year now, and at first, I really haven't had any problems with it. I loved it. I used to have my periods for a full 7 days straight and really heavy. Now I only get it 2-3 days, and it's super light, which is AMAZING! Some side effects I hate with it, though, are I get so emotional so easily. Another thing is I have absolutely no sex drive. We went from doing it all the time to now once or twice a month. I feel bad, but what can I do? I always get my period the day I start the brown pill, and now this month I haven't gotten it. I want the reassurance of getting it for at least a day so I don't freak out thinking I'm pregnant."

"I was on this pill for 4 months, and I had crazy mood swings! I was laughing one minute, crying the next. I could never make it through an entire month of these pills. I would start my period on the first or second day of the 3rd week of my pack, not just breakthrough bleeding, this would be a full period that would last 5-6 days! And I would have terrible cramps and huge clotting. Normally, I don't have cramps, and while on this, I had them every period. I finally had to have my doctor switch me to a new pill with a higher dosage."

For Birth Control "I'm 19, and I've been taking Loestrin 24 Fe for about 4 years. When I started taking the birth control, I did have some crappy side effects, such as bloating, weight gain, and a lot of spotting to a flow like a regular period, but it went away after 2 months of using it. I do only have my period every 2 to 3 months for a week, but it definitely beats having it every 3 to 4 months very heavily for almost the entire month. The only things I'm not all that happy about are the mood swings that never went away, I do still have them, but I can control it and they're not nearly as crazy as they used to be. And recently, my breasts sank about a cup size. I don't know if it's because of taking the birth control for so long or not."

"My periods were definitely predictable on this pill, even in the first month. Didn't gain any weight, breasts grew half a size, and nothing out of the norm. Only a few things I did not like and the reason I switched: severe mood swings, especially around your period week. I cried every day and had a very short temper."

For Birth Control "I got on Loestrin 24 FE for birth control and to help me with my acne. I have been on this pill for 4 months and do not like it. I switched to this pill from Yaz because it is a lower dose, and I would sometimes get sick on Yaz. I was hoping this pill would give me fewer side effects, but it didn't turn out that way. My mood swings are horrible, and I feel like a crazy, depressed person on this pill. My boyfriend has noticed how crazy I can get, especially right before my period. On Yaz, my PMS was barely noticeable, let alone mood swings. I have found myself needing to control situations and getting anxious and sad for no reason. My periods did not turn out to be lighter either. They are horrible on this pill, with bad cramps and nausea."

For Birth Control "I started taking Loestrin 24 Fe after taking Tri-Sprintec for 4 months and experiencing depression and mood swings. I just finished my 3rd pack of Loestrin 24 Fe, and I did not get a period each of the 3 months. I took a pregnancy test, which was negative. Reading these other reviews makes me feel at ease that this is not unusual with this pill, but I am still planning on calling my Dr. I felt like I had all the physical signs of getting a period each month, but nothing at all. Other than no period, I only had sore breasts at the start of pack 3, but that went away in 2 weeks. I do experience nausea, but I get that with every pill I have tried so far. Not sure if I like a pill where I don't get a period."
