For Birth Control "Cannot wait to get off this pill... horrible mood swings! Extremely irritable, crying at everything, beginning to dislike my husband (not good!), feel like I am coming out of my skin some days, I cannot stand myself, and I'm pretty sure my family is starting to feel the same. Took me a couple of months to figure out it was the pill causing it, since this all started after I started taking it 4 months ago. I started with it to help with very heavy periods, it is helping with that, although I did have a 2-week period last month, which is never enjoyable. Pretty sure this pill is causing me to have this PMDD, which I have never experienced before. It's horrible. Switching to something else, so hopefully, it will get better!"

"I have been on this pill for 7 or 8 months, and I love the fact that I'm not pregnant or I don't have to worry about getting pregnant, but I have horrible mood swings. I cry more than ever about the simplest things. I have also gained weight, and when I work out, I feel like it's useless. I've felt nauseous, even threw up a few times. Sometimes I get bad stomach pains. I've felt dizzy and anxious before. I'm seriously thinking about switching pills."

For Birth Control "I am 16. I was on Loestrin for 5-6 months, and at first, I did have some spotting/bleeding (but I had also taken my pill late the first few months, so maybe that was why). Before I got on the pill, I had a very heavy period, and I would go through 7 tampons sometimes in one school day. Loestrin did thankfully make my period a lot shorter and lighter, however, sometimes I would have a discharge the week before my period. I did not have any weight gain, but the pill caused me to have MAJOR mood swings towards my 4th-6th month. I was depressed sometimes and would feel the need to cry a lot. It was affecting my friendships and relationship. I just switched to Lutera on Sunday, and hopefully this pill won't have any side effects."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill coming up on a month. I am extremely tired all the time. When I wake up, if I close my eyes for a minute, I fall right back into a deep sleep. I am having the worst mood swings ever, and worst of all, it is making me gain weight like crazy! I haven't changed my diet or exercise routine. I eat healthy and exercise every day, but I am gaining weight! I would not recommend this pill to anyone unless you are an extremely happy, skinny person who can't gain weight, because it will make you angry and make you gain weight."

"I was on it for 6 months. I listened to everyone, doctor included, giving it a fair trial to allow it to adjust in my system. However, the end result was worse than how it started. Within the 1st week on the pill, my mood swings were absurd and my sex drive was gone. I started my period only for it to last 12 days and continued having 2 periods a month and constant brown discharge. I have been off this pill for 2 months, still waiting for all of the side effects to taper off. My skin stayed the same, acne was never a problem. My chest stayed the same. I didn't gain any weight, but I had far too many emotional 'fat' days!"

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I'm on my first pack of Loestrin, and so far, I've had some serious cramps! Face is clear, mood swings are out of this world! The other day, I was so irritated with everything and everyone! I have had some breakthrough bleeding, but I have not gotten my period yet. I'm on the last week of pills! If these cramps don't go away and these mood swings don't stop, I have to get off this medication!"

For Acne "Wow, same problem here! Chin zits, just like the big undergrounders that you would get in high school. On top of that, my mood swings are seriously out of control. I can just snap at any moment. Definitely would not recommend."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I have been experiencing, since starting this medication, vaginal dryness. I cannot even use soft toilet paper, I HAVE to use a moistened wipe if I use the restroom. It is so bad I had to go and see my doctor. He told me to give the pill 2 more months, then come back to see him. I have also noticed that my moods are VERY crazy, and this is affecting my relationship with my husband, work, and family. I am trying to ride it out but am tempted to ask for another drug solely because of the mood swings."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am only 16 and have taken this pill for 3 months and am FINALLY switching. While on the active (white pills), my periods lasted 13 days, which is more than twice as long as they lasted before going onto the pill. I experienced severe spotting throughout every single pack, as well as horrible cramping and mood swings."

For Birth Control "So I’m a 38-year-old mom of four and started this pill only to stop having a period (I skip the last week of pills and go straight into taking a new pack of 3 weeks of white pills after taking my last white pill in each pack). My tubes are clamped, so I literally just wanted to stop bleeding completely, and my doctor okayed it for me to do so. It has my skin looking flawless, my mood swings and depression are completely gone after being on this birth control just 5 months so far, and in itself is a godsend cause. I was struggling extremely hard with my moods and all-around mental health, it’s almost like my hormones were always out of whack after having my last child, but now are totally on track. I have lost over 10 pounds and am now 5’6” and weighing 119. My boobs did hurt really bad the first two months, but that has stopped, and they have now grown a cup size larger. This birth control has changed my life for the better, and I never see myself going off of it."

For Menstrual Disorders "This is awesome. I have been using this for about a year and a half now. I'm currently 17 if that matters. I use this purely for controlling my heavy period. I used to get heavy and long periods. I would have to change my tampon like every couple of hours, and when I got my period, it was like a flood. Also, I had horrible mood swings during my periods and would have crying fits and have to skip school because I was having such a horrible day. With this, my life has changed! I do not get mood swings anymore, which means I have a much more positive view on life. I don't get the headaches anymore. My periods only come every few months, and they only last 1 day when I do get them. This is awesome."

For Birth Control "Horrible! Been on it only a month. I have premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), and this was supposed to help give me lighter periods or none at all. I went totally crazy, worst PMDD episode in 15 years. I was crying and arguing with my fiancé for hours. Last time I had an episode years ago, I was on Yaz. I'd rather get labor pain period cramps than deal with the crazy episode. I actually thought my fiancé was gonna kill me after a nightmare I had. I will never take birth control pills again. Normally, I'm not crazy, seriously."

For Birth Control "So I was originally on Tri Nessa Lo for about 6 months, skin was clear, but my PMS was horrible. I have horrible mood swings and was very unstable. I also got my period for 7-10 days. I decided to switch to Lo Loestrin Fe. My first couple of months were horrible, as I had bad cystic acne all over my chin and jaw. My gyno said that it was my body adjusting to the new pill. I’m at 6 months now, and my skin is worse than ever before. My forehead is covered in bumps, and my T-zone is so oily now, and I have pimples all over, such as my chest and back. (Before I was even on birth control, I hardly got acne, only when I was getting my period). Anyway, on a positive note, I got my period for about 2 days a month, and my PMS was better. I am looking for a new birth control method, or I may just quit altogether."

For Menstrual Disorders "I went on this pill to regulate my period and reduce the days of my cycle. Before, I was averaging about 5 days on my period, but it was never regular. I'm finishing my 2nd month on this pill, and so far, my 2 periods lasted between 8-10 days. It is much lighter (like spotting), but lasts forever. My last period came a week early too. This pill has not caused any weight gain or emotional mood swings, and it did keep my skin clear, and I'm not pregnant, but those are the only positive things about this pill. I will be calling my Dr. for another recommendation."

For Birth Control "I was on this birth control for over four years. I discontinued and started with the NuvaRing because of how much of a negative impact the Lolo had on my mood. I would have mood swings, ranging from anger to depression and suicidal thoughts. What’s even worse is that the hormones in it caused my pH to be off balance, so I was constantly either getting a yeast infection or BV EVERY MONTH. It was miserable! After speaking with my gyn, she recommended going on NuvaRing because it constantly gives you the same amount of estrogen and lessens the chance of you getting an infection because the hormones are constant-versus Lolo is always up and down with the hormones. Since switching, I haven’t gotten any more infections, my mood is “normal” again, and I haven’t experienced crazy back pain, cramps, etc., like I did with Lolo. I would recommend anyone try NuvaRing or another birth control that ISN’T Loestrin."

For Birth Control "Stop reading into birth control so much! Everyone is different, and it is all about trial and error based on your needs, your body, you. I am 23 years old and have never tried birth control pills. My hormones were off, and I was getting hormonal breakouts around my chin along with an abnormal menstrual cycle. I was skeptical about starting to use the pill because I want a natural period, and I feel like my body will respond the way it needs to without meds, but sometimes you need help getting back on track after stress, etc. I have noticed a huge change. The first two weeks I was just emotional, but that was expected. I cried for silly reasons but laughed it off. Overall, it is doing its job. I feel better all around."

"I used this pill for about 3 years. It was hard to adjust to at first, but then, as time went on, my body adjusted. My chest went up a cup size, which I did not mind. But I gained weight substantially. I noticed my attitude start to change drastically over the past 8 months. I would act like a crazy person for no reason. I would get upset and cry over things I would have never gotten mad about before. I accused my boyfriend of everything, and eventually, he couldn't take it and broke up with me because he thought that's how my personality really was. I was insecure and depressed. I began to think that I was bipolar, but it was the birth control pills. I stopped taking them about a month ago, and I already feel better."

For Birth Control "I've tried so many birth controls, and never have had a good experience. So naturally, I was terrified to put yet another into my system. My doctor talked to me about Loestrin FE, and after a few days of researching, I felt it was worth a shot. Thank goodness I did, I love this birth control! The first major change I experienced was the increase in breast size, I went up a whole cup without gaining a pound! Woo! I had a few mood swings/faintness the first week, but otherwise, I've yet to experience any negative side effects. My period had been exceptionally short and so light it had me concerned. After my second month (and more research), I found it's normal to have light periods on this birth control. This is by far the best I've ever tried!"

"This is the first birth control I've ever been on, and so far I am very happy with it. I've been on it for going on 3 months, and at first, it was rough, but now things are great. The first week I was an emotional wreck! The second week I spotted for 9 days. The third week my attitude was back to normal, and I wasn't spotting. I haven't had headaches, I haven't gained weight anywhere other than my boobs, and I haven't had any cramps. And best of all, my periods that were normally 5-7 days are now 3 days! Other than biting my best friend's head off the first week I was on it, I am totally satisfied with this birth control!"

For Birth Control "I'm 16, I was on the Depo shot for 8 months but had crazy bleeding, switched to Loestrin. First 3 months were great, minimal bleeding/no periods. This is my 5th month, and I'm finally having periods (not complaining, takes the scare out of thinking I'm pregnant). I started to have horrible cramps, and I get super bloated about a week before I start. For the past week, I've been on the verge of crying every 5 minutes. I have CRAZY mood swings, and I've been slightly depressed. I can't handle it anymore, and I'm going to switch."

For Menstrual Disorders "I'm 22. Been on this for 3 months. They put me on it for heavy periods and horrible cramps. I have gained 10 lbs, had nausea, horrible pelvic pain, had no periods, and bad mood swings. I do not recommend."

For Acne "I started taking Loestrin 24 Fe 2 weeks ago to prevent pregnancy, and my face is breaking out like crazy. Plus, I'm getting killer mood swings, which is just lovely since I'm already on an antidepressant (I'm on it for anxiety, not depression though). I'm gonna give it until I finish this pack, and if it's not better, I'm heading to the doctor and getting my birth control prescription changed."

For Birth Control "I was on Loestrin 24 for 6 months. No mood swings or side effects, but I just switched because my breakthrough bleeding got bad. I would have spotting off and on, and then I was having a period the week before my brown pills. My doctor said this level of estrogen was too low for my body, but otherwise, I think it was fine."

For Birth Control "I would have given this a higher rating, as I used to love this pill. I went through 3 months in the beginning of irregular periods, which I knew would happen, and once that was over, these worked beautifully. No mood changes, no weight changes, regulated my period for months, and now I've been on it for a year? Maybe? And for the past 2 months I've had my normal period, and then ANOTHER period 2 weeks into the new pack of pills. In 2 months I had 4 periods. Then the next month it was regulated, and now AGAIN, 2 weeks into the pill I am spotting AGAIN. This is ridiculous."
