For Type 2 Diabetes "Started on Trulicity 0.75 three months ago for one month, then upped to 1.5. Started out with a little nausea, but nothing horrific. Now, almost three months later, I feel like garbage every day. Belching and hiccups are awful. Constipated and nauseous, and some days actually vomiting. My ribs hurt terribly from all the retching. Am afraid to eat anything for fear it will just make me sick. Am afraid to go anywhere because the urge to throw up comes on so fast. As of today (Saturday), I refuse to take it anymore. Will see my doc on Monday to replace it with something else."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Trulicity a week and a half ago. Side effects were a few minor headaches, one migraine-which may not be related as I've had them in the past. Heartburn on the second day. One low blood sugar event 24 hours after the shot. Some burping. Feeling of nausea which only lasts for about a minute but could be a few times a day. Less appetite-lost 3 lbs. General malaise after eating for an hour or so. BUT it is getting better, symptoms reducing. Blood sugar readings excellent. 87 after work. 130 after meals. (sensible meals) 90-100 in the AM. Pretty impressed."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I am now on Trulicity for three and a half weeks. I have experienced severe bloating, belching, and flatulence. Also, I have experienced sour stomach and acid reflux. The severe belching and flatulence is enough to keep me awake at night. I've tried Gas-X, does not help, and Rolaids. Has anybody experienced these side effects? On the positive side, my blood sugar has come down the last 75 points to be in the 120 to 130 range, which I have not been able to achieve with Tresiba alone. What I was really wondering, because of the positive effects of lowered blood sugar, will these symptoms subside eventually?"

For Type 2 Diabetes "My PCP put me on this, and I took my first injection this past Saturday night. Woke up to horrible nausea and sulfur burps on Sunday. Still dealing with those today (Wednesday). Vomited three times at work Monday around 2, and the nausea decreased for a couple of hours afterward. However, the nausea returned with a vengeance, and I took Phenergan and went to bed early when I got home. Back to work on Tuesday but had to leave after only 3 hours after the vomiting started again. Began having abdominal pain and diarrhea as well and spent most of the day yesterday in bed, eating Phenergan as often as I could. Still sick as a dog this morning and called in for the day. I will not be taking another injection, and I pray this poison wears off soon!!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have just given myself the fourth dose (yesterday). The first two weeks were pretty brutal. Flu-like symptoms, zero energy, gas, and nasty burps. The week after the third dose was much better. The burps come and go, as does the gas. I have tons more energy, almost normal, and sometimes I actually have felt my appetite coming back. I have lost 6 lbs in three weeks and feel like that is tapering off, and that is fine. I have to make myself eat, which is a first in my life. I miss the desire for food, but I have no desire for the bad foods I was eating before, so that is a great thing. I'm going to keep going and see if things continue to taper off. I was on Farxiga previously and spent $5000 to find out (all by myself with no help from doctors) that it was making me incredibly ill with gastrointestinal issues. Glad that is over, and anything feels better than that. Best of luck to all."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been type 2 for almost 9 months. I inject Trisiba once a night and take 2000 mg of Metformin a day (100 mg twice a day). I was taking Jenuvia, but that made me feel very sick. The T shot took its place and has allowed me to take fewer units of insulin, thus helping me lose weight. I've been doing the T shot for 2 months now. The first 2 shots were BAD. Every possible side effect. The sulfur burps and the diarrhea were HORRIBLE. I stuck it out, and it seemed to level out. Sometimes I get REALLY nauseated and cannot eat. Other times I get really tired and some blurry vision on occasion (I think maybe 3 times in 2 months). The trick is to drink lots of fluids and have your doctor prescribe a medical-grade antacid, and it will be great!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "Had some nausea which subsided quickly. Had decreased appetite and felt full quickly when eating. Have had constant burping that smells like sulfur or rotten eggs. It’s just awful. I am not going to take this anymore. I hope there are no side effects for abruptly stopping this med."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I'm on my 2nd week with Trulicity 0.75 mg. I take my shot every Friday at noon. By Saturday-Sunday night, I have diarrhea and feel very sick to my stomach, getting sick. The heartburn I think is the worst side effect of all. Burping every 20 minutes, then it feels like my chest is on fire. Alka-Seltzer did help with the heartburn! Last but not least, I'm hardly eating. I maybe take 3 bites of something and I'm done with it. It seems like my taste buds have changed, all food is either too sweet or too salty. On the other hand, my blood sugar numbers are great. I was taking Tresiba 30 units once a day with metformin 1,000 mg 2x a day, and my blood sugar numbers were over 280. With Trulicity, my blood sugar numbers are under 170 after I eat."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Trulicity 1.5 and Oseni on Tuesday. Did not feel well on Wed...kind of indigestion and burping a little, thinking it was lunch. Thursday, the awful sulfur burps started, which have not stopped. I feel like a baby is kicking my insides. Friday was all-day diarrhea. Not much appetite, but I know I need to eat, so I eat a little. My blood sugars have NOT gone down and are holding between 150 and 210. Sat, the diarrhea was gone, but the burps were worse, and nothing can stop them. I cannot sleep. I am so tired. Sunday, today, I could not make it to church because of the burping and gurgling in my belly, and you never know when the diarrhea will hit again. I will not use another dose of this medicine."

For Type 2 Diabetes "A1C 11.6, so the doctor prescribed Trulicity 1.5 and Farxiga 5mg. Blood sugars went down over two months to an A1C of 8.6. An insurance change disallowed Trulicity. When a job change brought new insurance, I was able to start Trulicity again. That is when the problems started. Six days after the first injection, gastrointestinal problems (about a 4 on a scale of 10); took the next injection. After six days, the gastrointestinal problems reached about a 5. I was hesitant to take it again, but blood sugars were getting much better, so I did. After six days, very long, loud, vile-tasting belching imaginable, explosive liquid diarrhea, extreme abdominal pain, flatulence, heart palpitations, cold sweat, and the feeling I would pass out. Ended up in the ER. Admitted with ischemic colitis. I will never take this medication again. Have had no problems since quitting Trulicity. Blood sugars are creeping up again, but it is not worth dying over. Will be seeing an endocrinologist tomorrow."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Been on Trulicity for almost a week. Started on a Tuesday. The first two days were fine, then Thursday night, the diarrhea and burping started. I thought it was something I ate - I didn't know all the side effects until I looked them up. Gonna let it do its thing until my next doctor visit (about a month). If symptoms do not go away, I'm going back to Victoza."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Took my first injection on Wednesday, June 29, 2016. Early hours Thursday, woke to terrible stomach pains, wind, belching, and diarrhea. Feeling dreadful in myself, ate a salad Wednesday evening, hardly anything since. A full feeling that just doesn't go away. Overall, I've experienced a really bad few days and still not right. It's Monday, July 4, today. I hope these side effects go soon, as I'm having trouble taking medication for other ailments."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have had type 2 diabetes for almost 2 decades. I had to stop taking Metformin after taking it for years because it was making me violently ill - as in purging from both ends simultaneously - just randomly, out of the blue. I got off of Metformin and started taking Glipizide about a year ago. I also have been taking 100 mg Januvia for several years. This past week on Tues, I stopped taking Januvia and took my first dose of 1.5 mg Trulicity. I am still taking 10-20 mg Glipizide per day as well. It's only been two days, and the worst thing I can say about it is that my appetite is gone, and I'm dealing with fairly mild nausea, burping, and tiredness. Sure, my glucose numbers are down -- because I'm not able to eat."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking Trulicity about 2 months ago. 1st week or 2, I was fine. Had some diarrhea, but nothing I couldn’t handle. Last week, I got really sick. I had awful burps, stomach pain, vomiting, and uncontrollable diarrhea. At first, I thought it was a stomach bug, but when it happened again this week, I KNEW it was the Trulicity and immediately called my MD. Her solution? Try a lower dose. Nope! Not even gonna bother picking up the Rx from the pharmacy."

For Type 2 Diabetes "To be honest, couldn't get stock of any of the other weight loss miracle drugs. So the doctor said to try this. BAD MISTAKE! I've only ever felt this bad when having food poisoning. I lost weight, sure, because I couldn't eat or drink anything as it all came back up and had constant sulfur burps, and toilet hugging became a new sport. Took 4 days to recover from this monster of a drug. I do not recommend it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was using Ozempic a few years ago to regulate my diabetes. It was working extremely well for me except for the belching. The diabetic nurses took me off this and replaced it with Trulicity. I found it great at the beginning, but the belching is horrific, and the smell. Guys, it's like wind central for me. I'm embarrassed to go places or be in small groups. I then got kidney and thyroid cancer, so I decided to take myself off the drug. I went from 249 lbs to 185 lbs. An amazing drug, if the symptoms were a little lighter, I'd stay on it. I started it again just this week, and within a day my tummy is talking to me and running to the toilet every two minutes is horrible. It is hard to live a normal life when taking this drug. It reminds me of when I first started using Metformin."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I used to be on the lowest dose, and my doctor put me on the next highest dose, and I started experiencing sour burps, so I stopped taking it. Now my numbers are better and even dropping in the upper 80s, so my doctor put me back on the lowest dose, and yesterday was my first dose, and this morning I got up with the nasty sour burps. Yuck!!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I see from reviews that this had been bad for some and good for others. For myself, it has been more good than bad. I started on 0.75 four weeks ago. I found a loss of appetite, a little nausea, some burping, and lost a few pounds. After a couple of weeks, I think I adjusted to the medicine and had no side effects, and my appetite came back. I am now on a 1.5 dose and am getting the same side effects as before. I have now lost 5 lbs. I also take 1000 mg metformin twice a day and glipizide 20 mg once a day. My blood sugar numbers have improved from an average of 240 - 300 to about 110 to 200. My A1C went from 12.7 to 10.3 in four weeks, and I am now waiting to go have it checked again in two weeks. This is the best result from any medicine I have taken."

For Type 2 Diabetes "This medication made me so sick that my daughter was about to take me to the hospital. Slowing the process of food in the stomach is not a good idea. The pain in my upper and lower stomach was really, really bad. The vomiting, diarrhea, and burping had a nasty smell. I usually urinate a lot, well, it has not happened with this medication. Well, what can I say? This medication is not for everybody. All this happened with the first dose. I lost two days of work. I'm up today but still not feeling well. The next time a doctor changes my medication, they are really going to hear me. I was fine with my other medication. Never again, it’s my body, and I know how I feel."

For Type 2 Diabetes "After 4 weekly injections, my doctor took me off of Trulicity. My blood glucose numbers were going down nicely; I lost weight, and it was an easy medication to take. BUT... first week: overwhelming nausea and fatigue; constant belching. Week two was much better. Weeks 3 and 4, exactly 42 hours after injection both weeks, extreme watery diarrhea began and continued for the next 15 hours. Two hours after the onset of diarrhea, violent vomiting began, and hard heaving continued after my stomach was empty for about 4 hours, followed by hours of nausea and fatigue. I wish I could have kept using this, but my side effects were too bad."

For Type 2 Diabetes "7 weeks on Trulicity, and I had side effects of a bit of nausea and wind, but all okay until last week. Since then, I have pain in the lower left abdomen, my doctor said not Trulicity must be a groin strain (?). How did I manage that without knowing? Then, 3 days ago, severe diarrhea, acid reflux, burps that stink, like can clear a room of people, and this has lasted all 3 days. Spoke to another doctor, same answer, not Trulicity must be something you ate, gave me tablets to stop diarrhea and a proton pump inhibitor to stop heartburn. So now, 3 extra drugs just to get my sugars down a bit. No thanks, coming off Trulicity will find other ways to reduce sugar or just accept higher sugar readings. Wonder why doctors will not accept it is side effects? In the UK, so no cost to me, free on NHS."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "Worst experience ever! Straightaway terrible nausea, bloating, and gas/burping. Complete loss of appetite - including food smell sensitivity. Then the vomiting started. Daily, repeatedly. Woke up through the night vomit. Ended up in the hospital. Tested for pancreatitis. Day 7 and still forcing myself to eat. Can barely tolerate anything. Stomach bloated. Brain fog. Will not continue."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "Doctor put me on this to try and help with my PCOS issues and weight loss help, as she was worried for me. But worst decision ever made! The diarrhea is horrible, I can’t even sleep as it just shoots out the other end. My day-to-day activities are cut short as I’m always running to the loo! I am a busy mum to a 2.5-year-old boy. So running around doing things is hard when your tummy has other ideas. The sulfur burps are absolutely disgusting! I don’t know how this is even a good thing, as all it’s done is make me sicker and my levels of everything have dropped, and I am more exhausted than ever! Please read up and make sure you have time and the loo close by if you go on this."
