It has cleared up my skin significantly but caused bad mood swings and nausea. I am switching to a new birth control with a lower dose of hormones to help with my mood."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol / levomefolate calcium for Birth Control "I was concerned about starting Safyral after reading some of the reviews here, but have been pleasantly surprised by how easy my transition onto it has been. I was not on any contraceptive previously, and when I started my Safyral regimen my only side effect was very light spotting for the first month. Not only did I escape mood swings, weight gain, acne, nausea, etc., but my usual menstrual symptoms (bloating, cramps, breakouts) have become almost nonexistent. I am not yet sexually active, so I can't speak to Safyral's effectiveness as a contraceptive, but I've been very happy with it in the meantime."

During the first month, all through the second month, I had horrible mood swings. Borderline depression, it felt like. But after the second month, it went away, I started feeling better. I've had no acne. No weight gain. Lighter flows. So I guess this pill is different for everyone based on the other reviews, but this is a great one for me, and I plan to keep using it for a long time."

I have always been a happy person, and now for the last week, I am so depressed and I am constantly feeling a nervous feeling in my gut, like anxiety. I had a baby 2 months ago, and even through my pregnancy, I never felt any mood swings or depression. I talked to my doctor and have decided to stop this birth control. Hope it'll fix this sad feeling."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol / levomefolate calcium for Birth Control "I started taking Beyaz in 2016 and was on it for four years. I never had any serious side effects, just headache, some slight stomach pain, and mood swings. I am now back on it after being off for a year, and I’ve had much worse mood swings. I’m hoping they will subside in the coming weeks and am willing to stick to it because I have PCOS and my periods suck. It does wonders for my acne, and I have very regular, easy periods on it. It’s nice knowing when I’m going to start, and I only bleed for about 3-4 days. I do notice I have a much lower sex drive when I’m on it, though. All in all, this birth control is good, and the good outweighs the bad."

So far, my main complaint is nausea. I have never felt so consistently sick in my life - not even with the flu! I'll post again when I've been on it longer about weight gain, mood swings, cramps, etc."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol / levomefolate calcium for Birth Control "So I will say that Beyaz has served its course. I've been on it for a little over a year and can only offer 2 pros. Pros: it stopped my period, it prevented pregnancy. Cons: the mood swings are terrible, I am always irritated, every little thing bothers me, I am so rude to my husband. Not to mention, I cry at the drop of a dime. Before Beyaz, I could count on one hand the number of times I had cried in the last 5 years. Also, the weight gain. My doctor put me on Beyaz because it was supposed to help me lose weight. Instead, I have gained everywhere, and although I constantly work out, I can't lose the weight. I have never had acne, so I can't really speak on that, but I will say that I have had quite a few breakouts while being on Beyaz."

Because I have been taking it consistently at a scheduled time, it has worked wonders! I would recommend this pill to anyone that is sexually active. Only side effects I have noticed are blood clots and emotional sensitivity. 10/10, highly recommend."

For Acne "I took Yaz for several years and was put on the generic version of this by Sandoz, so I didn’t have to pay for birth control. Honestly, it has been awful. My acne is out of control, like I have never experienced before in my life. My emotions are all over the place, and I feel like I can’t control them. I also experience horrible menstrual pain and headaches. I really wish I could go back on Yaz because it worked much better than the generic version made by Sandoz."

For Birth Control "I originally started on the original Beyaz on May 27, 2016, at the age of 37 for heavy menstrual periods as well as PMDD. At first, it was wonderful. My periods were so light, and next to no cramping! Mood stabilized. Then in the beginning of November, I was given the brand new fresh on the market generic. Three months into it, my periods started to get heavier. Fast forward another two months, and they're pretty much back to being as heavy as they were before I was even put on the pill. Cramping badly, mood completely out of control, skin breaking out more. Also suddenly experiencing brown, sometimes mixed with red discharge off and on, which I NEVER had before, even when I first started taking the pill."

The last 2 or 3 months have been bad, though. My face started breaking out, I am very emotional and angry. I don't know if it's because my pharmacy started giving me the generic version or it's the hormones, but everything was great until recently."

Severe breast tenderness and severe mood swings and depression. I have severe hot flashes and feel like a menopausal woman. Next are the mood swings, angry one minute, sad the next, anxious... it never ends! Pros = 100% clear skin, all the time! No weight gain. It's not the WORST birth control out there, but just be prepared to ride an emotional roller coaster."

I didn't experience any weight gain, and though I was sometimes moody, it wasn't anything outside of normal PMS. It did what it was supposed to do, I suppose. However, my problems were when I had to go off Safyral. My insurance stopped covering it, and at first, my OB/GYN didn't have any samples for me, so I had to stop taking it for a while. This is when I started to gain weight and had some crazy mood swings. I felt kind of depressed at times, cried often at work (which is unlike me), and just felt over-emotional."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol / levomefolate calcium for Birth Control "I was put on this birth control at the age of 14 due to severe ovarian cysts and breakthrough bleeding from other pills. It was absolutely wonderful the first two years. My skin glowed, I kept a great weight, my periods were always on time. However, all this soon went downhill around the third year. I started to have overwhelming feelings of depression wash over me multiple times during the day, I became sluggish, I didn't want to do things with friends or family, and my relationships suffered greatly overall. After stopping this pill, my mood swings diminished, and I feel like my old self again. Never going back to this pill again."

For Birth Control "The first 3 and a half months were rough! For starters, I had a pretty regular period prior to the pill, slight PMS, slight cramping and breast tenderness, normal to light periods, 1-2 pimples before my period, etc. I just chose this pill because most people said they didn’t gain weight. The first 3 months I experienced extreme change of moods, extreme nausea, uncomfortable bloating, and constipation. Worst part of it all? Really dark thoughts (never, ever, ever experienced this prior to these pills). I’m going into month 5, and most of these symptoms have subsided or have lessened. I will definitely discontinue use if dark thoughts continue anytime something major happens."

Drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol / levomefolate calcium for Acne "In the beginning, I was emotional and all over the place, and I also broke out. I am now near the three-end mark, and my skin has improved tremendously. I do have scars, and I've never been one to get scars from picking at pimples, but I'm not sure if the pills had something to do with it or if picking at them did. Other than that, all the side effects have subsided, and my skin is the clearest it has been in a long, long time!!"
